Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This task is automatically assigned to you as you approach the Shrine of Alra in the Pillars of Alra (up the ramp from the bottom of the zone).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- No tasks
- 81 Skill Level in Alaran

The mysterious statue seems to beckon you towards it...

You have been assigned the task 'The First Pilgrimage'.

A curiously shaped stone lies at the foot of the marble statue, perhaps you should investigate it.

  • Recover the Discarded Stone Tablet 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

At your feet you notice a curiously shaped rock. You hear a faint whisper as you take the stone into your hand... Perhaps one of the local evangelists could shed some light on its origins.

This opens up steps 2, 6, 10, and 14 (the four "Speak with..." steps) which can be done in any order.

  • Speak with Selulian at the Pillar of the Arcane 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Selulian of Melretia is outside the northeastern pillar (360, -620, 450).

You say, 'Hail, Selulian of Melretia'

Selulian of Melretia prepares to dismiss you until it notices the stone in your hand. It speaks with renewed interest, 'The blessed power of Alra be upon you, traveler! Come in [search of enlightenment] no doubt?'

You say, 'Yes, a search of enlightenment...'

Selulian of Melretia smiles, 'I had no doubt, any traveler that is industrious enough to recover one of our most ancient artifacts is clearly on a quest for greater things. Let me be the one with the great honor of welcoming you to the [Pillar of true worship].'

You say, 'Pillar of true worship?'

Selulian of Melretia says, in Alaran, 'Yes traveler, do not be drawn into the perversion and ignorance that befalls the other pillars, for only the purest form of Alra's magic should be worshiped... But I can see in your eyes you are uninterested in my lectures and more focused on the artifact in your hand. Let me hold it a moment so I can speak of its history.'

Give him the Discarded Stone Tablet.

Selulian of Melretia stares closely at the stone for a moment before speaking, 'Amazing, simply amazing! Bits of our oldest recorded history are etched into this fragment. Here...' Selulian returns the stone to you, '... I have a small [favor] to ask of you before I share what was written.'

    You say, 'A favor?'

Selulian of Melretia says, in Alaran, 'A small endeavor for one as experienced as yourself, simply to prove your faith. Seek out a few materials to construct the tabard of our order, some of the remnants of those accursed beasts of natural corruption should do. Take these parts and return to our library. There you will find several scriptures that detail our sacred symbol. Take the components and the instructions to our purification room and craft a tabard of our order, we will have much to discuss in the future!'

And if you hail him again:

Selulian of Melretia looks at you curiously, 'It was a simple errand, construct the tabard of our order. I can't imagine your memory is so poor that you would forget what you have just been instructed to do... Return to me when its construction is complete so we can discuss the origin of the tablet in more detail.'

  • Obtain the materials to construct Melretia's tabard 0/3 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Selulian requests that you collect the necessary components to construct the tabard of its sect. The vines of an okiina or naturewalker will suffice.

Kill treants and living plants around the outside of the Nature Pillar (southwest) until you get 3x "Wound-Verdant Cords".

  • Obtain the pattern to create Melretia's tabard 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Now that you have obtained the vines, return to the Pillar of the Arcane and find the tabard pattern. It should be in the lower library on one of the bookshelves.Go up 5 or 6 floors. Can be on any of them levels.

To get this item, you just need to run around the lower library floor until you get it on your cursor.

  • Infuse the Natural Minerals with Arcane Essence 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: In the lower lab is an arcane infuser. Use the vines along with the tabard to create Melretia's Tabard.

The "Infuser of the Arcane" is located at about 400, -840, 670 (two floors down from the library). Combine the four items to create "Tabard of Melretia's Order".

  • Speak with Il`Rator at the Pillar of Nature 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Il`Rator of Anriella is found outside the southwestern pillar (-345, 610, 435).

You say, 'Hail, Il`Rator of Anriella'

Il`Rator of Anriella says, in Alaran, 'Yes friends, we stand united against the forces of corruption! All will know of our purity by the end of days...' The preacher ceases its shouting for a moment and notices you. It seems to speak past you, yet you get the feeling it is calling out to you, 'Travelers, searchers, seekers of knowledge, come forth and repent. We are the [Pillar of Nature, of Life, of Growth]!'

    You say, 'Pillar of Nature?'

Il`Rator of Anriella points in your direction and shouts, 'Yes! May the beauty of Alra's land bless you! Come forth traveler, do not think I have not seen the potential in you, the artifacts you wield and lives you could change. What is it that brings you to our holy grounds? Is it fortune, fame, enlightenment, or perhaps [information]?

    You say, 'Information?'

Il`Rator of Anriella says, in Alaran, 'A wise seeker you are, Alra would be proud! I see that you hold an artifact of our people, come forth and allow me to observe it so that I may share its information with the crowd. Fear not, my people do not covet earthly goods as so many of the corrupted beasts that tromp through our lands, I shall return what is rightfully yours after reading its inscriptions.'

    Give the tablet to Il`Rator:

Il`Rator of Anriella breaths deeply as if preparing to speak then stops short, it stares at the stone with intense focus for a moment before continuing. It turns to you and speaks quietly, abandoning its previous mannerisms, 'What you hold here is of dire significance to both your and my people. What is written upon it is not for the eyes and ears of others, for it details the origins of my people's life on this world. I shall return this artifact to you but I must make a [request] before I discuss its meaning any further...'

    You say, 'What request?'

Il`Rator of Anriella says, in Alaran, 'I must know that your faith is true to our cause. The task is fair and should not be too challenging for one such as yourself. Seek out materials to craft the tabard of our people so that you may don the seal of life and hold audience in our court. You will need the remnants of the cold-lifeless beasts which can be purified within our halls. Instructions on the tabard's creation can be found in our library. Go now and may the blessings of Alra be upon you!'

And if you hail him again:

Il`Rator of Anriella throws its head back in laughter, 'The life and love of Alra be blessed!' It speaks past you, 'Friends, would it be within your grasp to believe that the world contains people that do not share our love of life? No, of course not! We are beset on all sides by the withering of decay, of darkness, of cold and lifeless heretics! We should be so lucky as to find a traveler willing to express their faith...' It continues to speak as if indirectly mocking you...

  • Obtain the materials to construct Anriella's tabard 0/3 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Il`Rator demands that you obtain the lifeless ore of the arcane. The ore of the animated guardians or wards will likely appease his demand.

Kill mobs around the Arcane Pillar (northeast) until you've 3x "Malleable-Lifeless Ore".

  • Obtain the pattern to create Anriella's tabard 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: With the ore obtained, return to the Pillar of Nature and find the tabard pattern. It should be in the upper library on one of the bookshelves.

Head to the Pillar of Nature (southwest) and up to its sixth floor (five elevator rides up) and run around until you get "Ornately-Drawn Pattern of Nature".

  • Breathe life into the Arcane Materials with Natural Essence 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: In the upper lab is a natural infuser. Use the ore along with the pattern to create Anriella's tabard.

The "Infuser of Life" is on the fourth floor (two drops down from the upper library) at about -360, 820, 731. Combine the four items to create "Tabard of Anriella's Order".

  • Speak with Wrakt at the Pillar of the Black 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa is just inside the southeastern pillar (-630, -355, 355).

You say, 'Hail, Wrakt of Fal`Kaa'

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa speaks quietly, 'Welcome to you traveler, I sense a kindred spirit in you. You are a seeker, a learner, you seek something our Pillar can offer you. In your hand you hold something of great [value], immaterial value of course, but true riches are not measured in the physical...'

    You say, 'Value?'

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa smiles before continuing in its quiet tone, 'Consider for a moment a flickering candle, the object itself and its violent light are of no worth, but its use is of immeasurable value. I warn you now that should you cross our halls that you do so without disturbing the peace of shadows, it is not our place to evoke chaos... But I digress, you come seeking information about the stone you hold in your hand [do you not]?

    You say, 'I do'

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa says, in Alaran, 'The stone like all things material is simply a shell, a host. Just as we are fleeting beings on this planet, so is the knowledge of our history. I shall read what is written upon the stone and share the wealth of its knowledge. Allow me a closer look, and fear not, I would rather live in ignorance than steal from a seeker such as yourself...'

    Hand in the tablet:

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa eyes the stone curiously and nods, 'The wealth contained within this stone is admirable but not revolutionary.' It returns the stone and continues, 'There is an unnecessary division between my people as you have no doubt seen, the stone details the story of a trickster who shone the light of chaos upon a unified world.' It pauses, 'Not to rescind my promise, but I must humbly request that you [prove] your dedication to our cause before I continue to divulge our sacred history.'

    You say, 'I'll prove myself'

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa bows its head, 'I thank you for your patience. This should be a simple errand, after which I will be happy to share more with you. You must don the crest of our order and rid yourself of the chaos of light. To create the crest you will have to rid the light of a powerful material, the remnants of a shining beast should do fine. When you have obtained the materials, return to our library and find a tome of seals. With this in hand, travel to our extraction halls and expunge the chaos from the material and form it into our holy crest. When this task is done I shall have more to say to you. Be well, traveler.

And if you hail him again:

Wrakt of Fal`Kaa bows its head, 'Return when you have completed the errand requested of you. I eagerly await the news of your success.'

  • Obtain the materials to construct Fal`Kaa's Crest 0/3 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Wrakt insists that you acquire the essences of a few light beasts. Wisps and hoppers will likely have what you need.

Kill mobs around the Light Pillar (northwest) until you obtain 3x "Brilliant Orb of Purity".

  • Obtain the pattern to create Fal`Kaa's Crest 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: With the essences of light obtained, find the pattern of the shadow crest in the upper library of the Pillar of the Black.

Head to the Pillar of the Black (southeast) and to the upper library (6th floor, so five floors up from the entrance level). NOTE: Don't be shrunk for this update, or you may be too short to reach the location range.

You spot an interesting looking tome that is decorated with the seal of the Pillar on the shelf.

You receive an "Unreadable Pattern of Shadow".

  • Cleanse the light materials with Shadowy Essence 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: In the lower lab is an infuser of shade. Use it to extract the light from the essences and craft the Crest of Fal`Kaa.

The "Infuser of Shade" is on the third floor of the pillar (-730, -515, 500). Combine the four items to create "Crest of Fal`Kaa's Order".

  • Speak with Il`Nendale at the Pillar of Light 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Il`Nendale of Erion is outside the northwestern pillar 630, 330, 515.

You say, 'Hail, Il`Nendale of Erion'

Il`Nendale of Erion looks you up and down curiously, it speaks in a curt tone, 'I did not think foreigners capable of such feats, but there you stand, holding a great [relic] of my people. Come to flaunt your conquests or bless us with your novel ignorance?'

You say, 'This is a relic?'

Il`Nendale of Erion glares at you for a moment before adopting a less hostile demeanor, 'I apologize to you. We have been suffering from the recent influx of foolhardy [pillagers] who are more interested in lining their pockets than honoring the great one. I simply cannot understand their lack of appreciation for history, but I suppose they are unconcerned with anything that doesn't benefit them immediately and personally...'

    You say, 'Pillagers?'

Il`Nendale of Erion says, in Alaran, 'You do not seem like them, at least not yet, you have had the decency to stop and speak rather than marching in unannounced or worse yet, attacking us true children of Alra. Allow me the courtesy of sharing what is written upon that stone, I will be happy to return it as I trust you did not spill the blood of my people to obtain it.'

Hand him the Discarded Stone Tablet.

Il`Nendale of Erion nods as it looks over the stone, expressions of confusion passing its face as it reads the ancient writing, 'Quite interesting indeed...' It points to several characters etched upon the rock-face that have no particular meaning to you, 'What this details is the final wishes of Alra!' It returns the stone to you before continuing, 'What exactly this means, I shall share with you if you will [demonstrate] your willingness to join our case.'

You say, 'I'll demonstrate my willingness...'

Il`Nendale of Erion says, in Alaran, 'The varying corruptions of my people are deep and timeless, this is why I must request that you prove your dedication to the cause by purifying the land of darkness. Extract the darkness from several shade creatures and return here to purify the unholy material. A tome in our library should hold all of the information required to operate the purification equipment in our halls. With this done, the material will be easily malleable into our most holy crest, donning it will shine the light of purity on all things around you. Return to me with this task complete and I shall share more of Alra's wishes with you.'

And if you hail him again:

Il`Nendale of Erion glares at you in confusion, 'Have you not finished your simple errand? I hope I was not wrong about you, adventurer...'

  • Obtain the materials to construct Erion's Chest 0/3 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Il`Nendale will not discuss anything further until you have proven your worth with the collection of a few shadowy materials. The shades and horrors of the Pillar of the Black should possess what you need.

Kill mobs around the Pillar of the Black (southeast) until you've obtained 3x "Weightless Orb of Darkness".

  • Obtain the pattern to create Erion's Crest 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: With the dark material obtained, travel back to the Pillar of Light and find the pattern of the light crest in the lower library.

Head to the Pillar of Light (northwest) and to its lower library (fifth floor). Roam around there until you get a "Glowing Pattern of Light".

  • Purify the Dark Materials with Light Essence 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: In the lower lab should be an infuser of light. Cleanse the dark materials along with the pattern to craft the Crest of Erion.

The Infuser of Light is found on the third floor (so, two floors down from the library update) at about 700, 500, 730. Combine the four items to produce "Crest of Erion's Order".

  • Return to the Burial Site 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

    Return to the central island.

Startling images of devout Alaran worshipers consume your vision. The glowing paths between the Pillars rumble under the feet of decorated priests. As you regain your composure, you feel as if the stone is beckoning you to cross the paths in the garb you have just constructed...

  • Walk the Barren Paths of the Pillars 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Here, you'll need to walk the eight paths (the four extending from the center to each pillar and the four that connect the pillars to each other).

    You have on hand:
    - Tabard of Melretia's Order (ARCANE: chest item)
    - Tabard of Anriella's Order (NATURE: chest item)
    - Crest of Fal`Kaa's Order (BLACK: head item)
    - Crest of Erion's Order (LIGHT: head item)

You have to walk each path at least once.

You have to be wearing the above-mentioned "Order" items from the pillar you're walking to and the pillar you're leaving from. (Equip these before you step onto a path.)

You can walk on paths more than once, as you need, except the one you just finished walking on (so, you can't walk from the Center to the Light Pillar and then from the Light Pillar to the Center -- you'd have to take the long way around, equipping the appropriate items as you move around).

  • Pay your respects to the fallen god 0/1 (Pillars of Alra)

Task Window Says: Return to the foot of the statue and pledge your allegiance to a particular pillar: (Nature), (Arcane), (Light), (Shadow), or (none) if you are an unbeliever.

(Make sure you are not on a mount of have no levitate buffs on you. I believe it checks for the Z axis coordinates for the update and if you are not on the ground, it will not update.)

The Stone Tablet begins to feel heavier as you near the statue. The once distant whispers now begin growing louder. A myriad of voices seems to be creeping upon you, a lone howl among the sound of the crowd shouts out, 'Stand at the feet of Alra and speak your allegiance! Pledge yourself to life to [nature].' Another more gravelly voice hisses, 'Purity! Your soul belongs with us in the [arcane]!' Yet another pair of voices cry out in discordant unison, 'To [light] ... To [shadow]!' ... The crowd continues to grow louder, you fear what may happen if you say [none]...

You say, 'I pledge myself to _____'

The statue remains still, silent among the roaring voices...

The din of furious voices slowly fades into a distant hum. After a few moments the only sound audible at the altar is that of rushing wind. Before you step away from the statue you notice a small stone tear fall from its face. You reach to grab the stone and are surprised to find it is absolutely weightless. It seems your quest to determine the tablet's origin has simply opened the floodgates to more mysteries...

    This completes the task.

" In this particular instance I am totally okay with alliance spells working on the Pillars of Alra quest givers.
There is a way to get each aura to not land on you. I'll leave it to the community to discover how though. "

and then read further on thread...not sure if it is true or not..

"All you need to do is wear the relevant piece of armor (head or chest) that you got in the first of the story tasks. That will enable you to get future tasks regardless of how many mobs you have killed "

    And this works...

" Meanwhile i testet it with my alt enchanter. He has a level 50 spell "Collaboration", which raises faction to a single NPC. It worked and i could do the task yesterday. Never used the spell before.

While we did the quest yesterday we were suddenly Kos in the light tower. As people said before, it changes depending on what quests you are doing."

    Trouble with requesting the tasks....try

"You can DA and request the task before it fades to bypass the faction debuff."

    and see if that works.

WTF are they thinking of to lock ports behind 81 Alaran AND a kill/collect minimum of 12 mobs? I was always among the first to get new ports as a public service. ***** it! Let them walk!

Spent about 4 hours last night doing this quest. It wasn't a hard quest at all. A different quest for sure.

Here's the walk that worked for me. You have to be sure to put on the right gear before stepping on the walkway.

    Starting in the center:

Put on Crest of Erion's Order and Tabard of Anriella's Order

    Walk Center to Light
    Light to Nature
    Nature to Center

Put on Crest of Fal`Kaa's Order and Tabard of Melretia's Order

    Walk Center to Black
    Black to Arcane
    Arcane to Center
    Center to Black

Put on Tabard of Anriella's Order (leave on the Crest of Fal`Kaa's Order)

    Walk Black to Nature

Put on Crest of Erion's Order (leave on Tabard of Anriella's Order)

    Walk Nature to Light

Put on Tabard of Melretia's Order (leave on Crest of Erion's Order)

    Walk Light to Arcane
    Arcane to Center

The first time I did it, I missed putting on the right item so I had to walk through it again to get the update and of course, it was the very last walk ..lol.

Collecting the 3x items from each one was not hard. Only one of them had buffs that I stripped (except one buff that just had to ride the course out). We pulled them up the path and it worked out quite nicely.

    Hope this helps :)

if at the end, you say you pledge yourself to "none" you will lose faction with all four orders.

if you choose any one of the pillars, for example "arcane" - you will gain faction with that pillar and it's affiliate pillar and lose faction with their opposing pillars.

for example, one of my chars chose 'arcane' and faction with "arcanist" and "shades" went up, and "purity
and "living will" went down. the factions that dropped remained at dubious, as did the ones that were raised. edit: actually "shades" was raised to 'apprehensive.'

with that the char who chose "none," all factions dropped- arcane and purity remained at dubious, but shades and living will dropped to threatening. so the hit is bigger if you choose "none."

i do not know if any of this matters yet. ;)

edit: this DOES matter- as the shades faction dropped to 'threatening' that char was unable to request the shared tasks.

therefore i highly advise choosing a pillar. don't say "none"
