Enic Ruklin may be found at the Temple of Life at -180, -285, 4.

You say, 'Hail, Enic Ruklin'

Enic Ruklin says 'Hail! These are the sacred grounds of the Temple of Life. Please do not cause any disturbances while on our grounds. I would hate to have to hurt you. In the name of Rodcet Nife, of course. Now excuse me, I have a [problem] to attend to.'

You say, 'What problem?'

Enic Ruklin says 'I have been charged with the duty of protecting the [Pool of Jahnda] and its fish. Now it seems as though a beast by the name of [Frostbite] has slurped up another one of the sacred fish, the [Koalindl]. If I do not get the little corpse of this fish back, I could be in trouble. Any respected member of this temple who aids me will be rewarded greatly.'

You say, 'What about the Pool of Jahnda?'

Enic Ruklin says 'The Pool of Jahnda is not meant for public use. It is a sacred pool created for the [Koalindl]. They say that, every so often, the Prime Healer visits our plane in the guise of a Koalindl. He swims in our pool.'

You say, 'What are the Koalindl?'

Enic Ruklin says 'The fish called Koalindl were a gift to Priestess Jahnda from the Prime Healer. They come from the plane of health. To kill one Koalindl is to bring the wrath of Rodcet Nife and the Priests of Life down upon you.'

You say, 'What about Frostbite?'

Enic Ruklin says 'Frostbite is a dog. He belongs to some barbarian who visits the city every so often. I know not where they are from. I cannot see them coming from Halas. Their visits are too frequent.'

Frostbite can be found at the Barbarian fishing village in West Karana. Watch out! Ulrich McMannus is very fond of the mutt and will insta-kill you if he sees you harming Frostbite. Also, frostbite does not always have a fish on him when you kill him and killing him causes severe faction drops with several barbarian factions. Deliver the fish corpse and you will get some decent gold and sometimes a nice item as well (I have been told of prayer beads and a Band of Rodcet Nife from this quest).

There are two other ways to get the fish. You can also complete this quest by killing Koalindl fish yourself or through a newbie mule character (which is the better method), taking the severe faction hit, getting killed by the guard, and turning in the fish corpse to Ruklin.

Or you can do the regurgatonic quest in Ak'Anon and feed Frostbite the regurgatonic, which will cause him to cough up the fish corpse with no loss of faction.

Don't kill Frostbite if you have business in Halas

The faction hits in Halas aren't worth it if you regularly have to go there for any reason. Do the regurgatonic version instead.

I set the minimum for the quest to apprehensive to Priests of Life for now until someone can confirm the correction faction turn in level.

Ok I created a Cleric of rodcet, got someone to kill a fish for me and I handed it in with that character. Either you need a certain level of faction (probably not, as normally they just take the item if you don't have enough) or you need to be a follower of Rodcet Nife to do this quest. I got the prayer beads, two charges of healing. My faction was amiable

Interestingly after we killed the koalindl the high level version (Rodcet Nife himself?) spawned. We didn't kill him, as this wasn't on my main server and I don't know anyone high enough to. Maybe another time :)

did the bone chip quest on my agnonstic erud mage, got my faction to amiable. tried the quest again, got someone to kill a fish, looted it, then handed it in (yep I am decietful, eh?).

This time it worked, and i got the ring. got 4 fifths of a blue bubble at level forteen for this hand in. pretty good experience for the ease if you do the quest the sneaky way :)

bad regurgitonic
# Feb 13 2003 at 11:45 AM Rating: Excellent
I have spent weeks trying to get Frostbite to take the regurgitonic without success. On a hunch gained from a post elsewhere, I cast Identify on my regurgitonic, and it's lore info said: Bad Regurgitonic! I was stunned! I had no idea that there was a chance for you to receive a bad regurgitonic from the gnome in the Ak'Annon zoo. So, I destroyed the regurgintonic, went and got another one, and sure enough, Frostbite liked that one just fine. So, keep this in mind, everyone....if Frostbite says he doesn't need that item you just gave him, chances are you got a Bad Regurgitonic and will need another one.

Agreed. Cast identify with the item floating on your mouse pointer and make sure to have yourself targeted. Most of the time he will give you the good one. If it wasn't such a bloody long run...

Regurgitonic and Frostbite
# May 15 2002 at 5:32 PM Rating: Default
I have done this many times in the past without problems, but today Frostbite gave the regurgitonic back to me and said that he didn't need that item. Anyone know if this is bugged now? I got the same result no matter what my faction was with Frostbite (amiable to dubious)

get some fast friends
# Mar 26 2002 at 11:06 PM Rating: Excellent
I'm a teleporting druid,on the FV server, and I have done this quest 4 times so far, The rings are nice gifts for younger mages.

I simply port to Surefall for the flask of nitrates, port to Steamfont to trade for the regurgitonic, back to surefall and another flask, run to WK and give Frostbite the Regurgitonic (if no one has killed him... that makes a long run really painful), get the fish, run or gate to Qeynos, turn in the Koalindi, hope for the ring, rinse, repeat.

To start this quest, I got my faction up to amiable through the 2 bonechip/2gp bribes to Lashun Novashine. Cost me about 15pp to get the faction up, but I'd say 2 rings more than justifies that.

I have gotten two prayer beads and two rings from this quest.

I did have frostbite NOT cough up the fish once, (and i did not have a koalindi anywhere in my possession (LORE)).

is it just me? i coulda swore these rings were no drop and lore.. you had 2 of em and they make great gifts.. did they change the lore/no drop status?

loose faction fast
# Feb 03 2002 at 5:05 PM Rating: Default
I did this quest at level 6 enchanter; took a wee while to get my faction to amicable via the crush the undead and gold to guy on ramp quests; cost about 8pp all together. I managed do the quest 3 times getting beads and the band. Using a mule at first and then my main character (illusion Human comes in handy in lowering faction to!). However the fish dont always drop every time and i found that after about the third kill without a drop my faction was back up to apprehensive (indifferent with illusion). Keep using the mule! the XP at level 6 was just under a bubble each time.
I did it.
# Jan 16 2002 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
I made a mule like was suggested. I raised my faction from aprehensive to amiable with the bone chips and the gold. Then I had to complete the quest 3 times to get my ring. First I got beads, Next gold, next ring a ding ding ding. I went through 3 mules to do it with though :).
Not Enough Faction With Enic Ruklin?
# Jan 04 2002 at 3:38 PM Rating: Good
Seek out Lashun Novashine in North Qeynos. He wanders from the newbie area to the Temple of Life. Give him 2gp for a heal. Took me about 30p or so to go from apprehensive to amiably.

# Sep 14 2001 at 3:14 PM Rating: Default
I had nothing to do last night and decided to try Koalindl...

I killed a fish, got the copse. Then raised my faction to amiably (it has to be amiably for quest to work) via lashun bonechip quest.

Handed over the fish, got faction, then killed another one.

Heres the catch, killing the second Koalindl didnt take my faction under amiably, wich means the faction hit for killing the fish is lower that the faction bonus for giving it back.

So basically its a quest that isnt long to do, gives great money, faction and items up to level 6, got bored at level 6 of doing the quest. Get your faction to amiably and you can kill them yourself.

beware, I have did this quest many times for my chanter using the mule method. today however my mule was killed by Rodcet nife himself in the guise of the fish. only hits for 396 :) then plays POD and shouts what a fool you are...like he needs to tell me. so con them first if they show red, might want to wait.
