Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This group mission begins with Captain Portencia in Argath (just outside the air ship drop-off point).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "Beasts for the Stew"
- Completion of "A Question of Integrity"
- Completion of "Message of Faith"
- Completion of "Trial of the Beast"
- Completion of "One to Lead Them"
- 73 Skill Level in Alaran

You say, 'Hail, Captain Portencia'

Captain Portencia says 'You are _____, correct? Mea has told me about you. I have been meeting with Mea for some time now and we have reached a [deal] that could benefit Argath immensely.'

You say, 'What deal?'

Captain Portencia says 'Mea has informed me that some members of the Domain clan have recently acquired a brood of naeya pups. These pups would make great [companions] on the battlefield if trained correctly. I want those pups and I want you to [get] them for me.'

You say, 'Companions?'

Captain Portencia says 'The naeya pups would be very useful as scouts to help defend our lands. They also have an incredible sense of smell and are deadly in a fight.'

You say, 'I'll get them'

Captain Portencia says 'Getting to the naeya pups won't be easy unfortunately. A strong sect of the Domain clan are guarding them. You look like you might be able to handle them though. I will compensate you for your time if you are able to get the pups for me. Can you [do this] for me?'

You have been assigned the task 'Pups of War'.

Mea has told Captain Portencia that a new brood of naeya pups has been born to one of the clans. These creatures would be very useful to help the folk of Argath scout and defend their own lands, as the creatures have an amazing sense of smell, good enough to find invisible and hidden enemies of all sorts. Of course they are deadly in a fight too. Captain Portencia has asked you obtain the naeya pups.

You say, 'I will do this'

Captain Portencia says 'I knew I could count on you. When you are [ready], I can send you to the Beasts' Domain. When you arrive, speak with Mea. One of Mea's offspring, named Trag, has agreed to show you the way to the Domain camp where the naeya pups are being kept.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Captain Portencia says 'I await your return.'

You have entered Beasts' Domain.

NOTE: All mobs in this zone see invisibility. They hit for a max ~12,500 and are stunnable. Mobs are fairly spread out, but sometimes difficult to see due to the terrain.

Speak with Mea Treg 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

You say, 'Hail, Mea Treg'

Mea Treg says, in Alaran, 'The heroes return. I take it that you have agreed to get the naeya pups for Portencia? So be it. Trag here will show you the way do the Domain camp. Also, if you need to [leave] here for some reason, just let me know.'

Speak with Trag 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

You say, 'Hail, Trag'

Trag says, in Alaran, 'Are you ready to [depart]?'

You say, 'Ready to depart'

Trag says, in Alaran, 'Follow me.'

Follow Trag to where the domain hunters are keeping the naeya pups 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

Trag will make his way southeast, along the east river, and towards the narrow valleys located in the northeastern part of the zone's middle section.

He doesn't aggro mobs unless the mobs aggro you first. Likewise, mobs don't aggro him unless he attacks them first. He can't tank a mob very long without dying, so try not to let him tank much.

Once he gets to the domain hunter camp entrance, you'll see this:

Trag says, in Alaran, 'The clan is near. I cannot help you fight them. Good luck.'

Defeat the domain hunters in your way 0/18 (Beasts' Domain)

Kill any 18 domain hunters. There is nothing special about them; just regular trash mobs.

Free the naeya mother from her crate and kill her 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

Destroy the large crate to free the naeya mother, and kill her (again, nothing special about this mob).

Collect the naeya pups from the small crates 0/6 (Beasts' Domain)

Destroy the small crates and loot the pups.

Give the pups to Mea Treg 0/6 (Beasts' Domain)

Speak with Mea Treg 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

You say, 'Hail, Mea Treg'

Mea Treg says, in Alaran, 'I'm sorry little ones, but you'll be happier where you now go. You have done as asked. Portencia will come my collect the pups. Take something from the chest beside me and when you are ready to [leave], let me know.'

Loot the chest for your reward 0/1 (Beasts' Domain)

Anyone within 300 range of the chest gets experience (1-2 AAs depending on your AA count).

I do this mission with a 95 necro and boxed 95 shaman and 95 druid, two healer mercs and a tank merc who does all the fighting. First time through I made a new line with the map tools as I followed Trag. Every time after that I would clear the line to where the task updates before the hails to start him walking. makes it very easy. At the end when you are doing the hunters it is important to watch out for the bushes in the canyon. Hunters hide there and if you are not careful you will have a couple of them on you at once. You can target them thru the bushes and I found that the necro AA no damage snare would land over 90% on the first shot. If you get 2 you run a bit FD and wait for aggro to drop. Keep your group far enough back so you have room to run and FD. If you want the Hunters Hunted achievement then just keep moving down the canyon past the crates and once you finsh all the mobs there it will update. Then come back and beat down the large crate and kill the mother.
Easy mission.

No real named in this mission HP wise it's all just normal T3 HP mobs.

Good mission to farm 93-94 cantrips if you can't kill T3 named but can handle non named T3 mobs. Mission does require a puller or CC though.

Haven't seen anyone post this method, but I do this mission quite a bit, for guildies that need it or friends. Also, there are some achievements for this as well. We start off by clearing the trash mobs along the path before we hail Mea. It's easier, and less troublesome that way. It also allows you to hunt for the mobs you need for one of the achievements without having to worry about Trag running off, or getting killed. The first achievement is for killing three each of the Crocodiles, Apes and Gorals. Since there is no guarantee you will have 3 of each along the way, we always get this achievement out of the way before hailing Mea or Trag. This achievement is called Hunting Trip. After clearing the way to where the Domain Hunters are, we run back, hail the NPCs and start following Trag.

The next achievement comes by letting Trag get the killing blow on one of the animals along the way, this one is called Trag the Mighty. Typically we pull pets off at about 20% and stop all DoTs at around 50%. Once the mob gets to around 10% everyone pulls back and we let Trag finish it off.

The last achievement you get is for killing all 24 of the Domain Hunters before going after the Mother Naeya. Least I think it's 24. Never really counted, and I would guess that the number might not be definite. Just kill all the Hunters and you'll get The Hunters Hunted achievement. We usually start burning lesson when we start on the Hunters, and it's usually over right around the time we get through with the hunters.

Make sure you read all the way through the dialogue to get the phrase to start the mission, if you say the last two phrases he will respond as though you have it and really you do not.

You cant cast spells to buff the guy till he is on the move, i casted haste and unity. Both of the times I have run this I didnt walk with him he made it there on his own then I got the update.

As stated he walks down the river, I would let him go since your agro radius is 10x what his is. The first place he paths both time is right by a mob that will agro 100% of the time.

The passage way in the middle east of the map is where you are headed. If you have the map from mapfiend the boxes you need to open are labeled with a ZONE? (Least my version it is).

Only thing to watch for are the guys hidden in bushes you wont always see them right away. We did this with a 93 monk shaman enchanter, (wizz, tank, healer merc). No problems burned lesson and made a ton of exp as previously stated (Wait to burn till you make it to the guys you have to kill).

so far a Shaman Shield and monk face have dropped out of the chest, hoping for my monks 1hb and 2hb.

Just thought I'd mention that. I run out of hunters right at about the 4 minute left mark.. then paste 2 more apes and done. They're easy to split, and good exp.

Trag can be buffed, and healed. With chanter haste he was at about 2700 dps...roughly the same as 95 warrior merc. For some reason this mission can get buggy. Sometimes it doesnt update. Also as previously mentioned, don't kill stuff before the task says to. I ended up killing hunters before the task updated, and there are a limited # of them. As far as I can tell, every single mob in the zone sees invis...also sees rogues too. You should be prepared to either split pull the hunters or deal with 2 at a time. They can be mez/rooted, They resist snare a LOT... kiting them is not a safe option. There are 3 hunters around the crates

Do not get ahead of yourself and kill the Mother after only 17 Domain Hunters! You will have to redo the whole quest because she will not respawn.
