Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is the sixth task in a series of six; a solo task that begins with Bursin the Legend in Argath at about -160, -500, -400 (outside the main forge area, accessed via the southwestern part of Argath's "Belly").

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "This is Argath"
- Completion of "Shoring Up Defenses"
- Completion of "Protect the Arms"
- Completion of "The Riddle of Steel"
- Completion of "Breaking Ballistae"
- (no minimum skill level in Alaran Language)

You say, 'Hail, Bursin the Legend'

Bursin the Legend says 'There is a new [threat] to this Forge, greater than that of Erillion.'

You say, 'What threat?'

Bursin the Legend says 'The Forge grows hotter. When first the steel erupted from the mountain, the council sent the legends, attendants, and channelers to guard and salvage the Forge. We have kept temperatures low with our traditional cooling methods, but now the [heat] is becoming unbearable.'

You say, 'What heat?'

Bursin the Legend says 'A mass of molten steel has been welling up from the heart of the mountain. It is small now, but already our pipes and equipment are beginning to melt. The cooling tubes are melting, and we must carry water by hand to the mass. However, we do not have enough attendants to do the job. Could you [help]?'

You say, 'My help? Sure!'

Bursin the Legend says 'Thank you. If we cannot cool down the mass, I fear the Forge will erupt once again and collapse the rest of Argath. Speak with Attendant Shirian. Al has a plan.'

You have been assigned the task 'Critical Mass'.

The heat inside the Forge builds. Bursin the Legend believes it is close to erupting once more. Attendant Shirian believes al can cool the heat, but al needs help.

Speak with Attendant Shirian 0/1 (Argath)

Attendant Shirian spawns nearby, inside the forge.

You say, 'Hail, Attendant Shirian'

Attendant Shirian says 'This heat is intense, even for me! We do not have much time. Our cooling tubes have melted shut, and even now living steel is rising up from our molding cauldrons and coalescing on the steel mass in the heart. We need to act quickly! Draw near to the cooling pots, fill a vessel with water, and douse the steel mass, as well as any living globs of steel heading toward the heart!'

Shrink and destroy the mass of steel 0/1 (Argath)

Task Window Says: Fetch cooling water from the top of the water reservoirs. Use the water on the steel droplets and the erupting steel mass in order to cool them down.

NOTE: You may be able to update this step simply by killing the Steel Eruption (no cooling required). It's possible you'll still need to cool it (details below) if you're too slow to DPS.

At the center of the forge spawns a large ooze called "Steel Eruption". You need to go to the water reservoirs (the northwest and southwest parts extending from the center of the forge). Doing so causes a "Cooling Pitcher" to appear on your cursor (two charges of "Douse of Forge Coolant").

Equip the Cooling Pitcher in your primary, run up to the Steel Eruption (which will aggro you, hitting for a max ~10,000; in addition to regular "molten steel" spawns around and its own adds, "a steel droplet" which hit for a max ~1,000).

Use the Cooling Pitcher on the Steel Eruption. This will cause it to shrink in size. Once shrunk, you can kill it for the update.

NOTE: As it's aggro'd, mobs called "a steel droplet" spawn and attack. If these make it to the main mob, the Steel Eruption grows in size. The Cooling Pitchers can be used to stun these droplets.

Speak with Bursin the Legend 0/1 (Argath)

You say, 'Hail, Bursin the Legend'

Bursin the Legend says 'Well done, _____, the Forge has cooled, for now. Tell Atleris what occurred here. And have ali send more food if al can!'

Shrian does not give cooling Pitcher out

When I hail Shrian, he does not give me the cooling Pitcher. I had to fight SE without shrinking it. This task bugged? or changed. What happen to cooling pitcher?

There are some pipes that run to a large reservoir away from Shiran that, when you approach it, puts the cooling pitcher on your curosr.
Where are the cooling pitchers?

That was the first question - whatever they are good for, you get them at the water basins which you recognize looking at the pipelines. Where the pipelines start all together there you only need to get close to that big cup and then you have your item on the cursor. If you are standing directly over the steel mass and click them you activate them.

If you are standing exact at the end of the lava pipelines on the round lava place then you can hit with all spells the main mob. If you are a bit further in (on the lava pipelines) then you cannot see or aim at it.

IF you have a monk getting here is no problem, the blocked off baracade will allow you pull corpses through. Had the group stand on it then cast a spell on the guards, monk ran the long way to the other side and was able to drag the group and rez them in front of the quest guy. This was much easier than getting trained by people doing the catapult quest via fd.

Had the group stand in one of the pools around the main area (When you get there you will understand what i mean)

Have everyone switch to Nuking Mercs, shaman dots didnt seem to hold.
Had the monk run around completing the tasks, then ran in a doused the mob, fd.
Set mercs to burn and to assist the monk
Only takes a couple of mins before the mercs burn him to nothing. Only key is to make sure you are not in a place that will get aggro from anything.

Agree with previous. I was looking at this as a super hard solo quest, but when I asked if someone was grouping it in /ooc i was informed of it's ease so thought I would share.

I did the hails, then ran around the cooling pipe tubes there just off from where 2nd hail takes place, and once the cooling liquid popped up on my cursor, i found a place to sit aggro free on one of the little lava streams, and dotted/petted the main mob to death. Once dead you hail 1 more time and your done. Takes about 5 minutes.

The last mob doesn't summon, wont even run at you, its static, just don't walk up to or it will hit you. You can completely avoid adds also.
You don't have to tank it.

Once I figured that out, it was easy.

War died twice, cuz sucker is mean, hits hard. Then I figured out .. just pour some water on it, back warrior away and let necro dot it to death. And caster merc/chanter nuke it.
That was easy.
Don't worry about the cooler.

Get the quest.
Hail the assistant.
Kill the mob.

Did it twice in 10 minutes because I forgot to hail the assistant with one of the four I was playing.

Steel Eruption is rooted, if you have a real tank, you'll be fine. I did have to use the group heal with the paly once.

Update

Wound up doing this quest a couple of times last night because we didn't know what we were doing. Finally completed it and can say it is relatively easy. The entire quest is on a timer - if you get the quest and do nothing after 6-8 minutes (not sure of timer) the quest will automatically end if Steel Eruption is not dead. We wound up getting the cooling pitcher as it is required for part of the quest, but not using it on the Steel Eruption. I think the cooling pitcher may extend the timer. We took down Steel Eruption in less than a minute with one add and quest was over when we hailed Bursin. Once we figured it out it took us less than 5 minutes.

We completed using the following these steps:

- Clear area around the top of the forge. May have some Molten Steels in the area.
- Hail Bursin to get the quest, key word is [help].
- Hail Attendant Shirian and get the cooling pitcher (we did nothing with the pitchers).
- Attack Steel Eruption and burn down as quickly as you can.
- Hail Bursin and get update.

If you are dead when mob dies, you will not get updated.
Don't die. People who were alive got updated won't be able to help you cause they won't be getting any more coolers when task gone.
