Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is the third task in a series of six; a solo task that begins with Troopwielder Latakan in Argath at 865, -200, -270 (the northwestern section of the "arms" part of the zone area).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "This is Argath"
- Completion of "Shoring Up Defenses"
- (no minimum skill level in Alaran Language)

You say, 'Hail, Troopwielder Latakan'

Troopwielder Latakan squints at the sky, looking into the distance. '[Windsong] attacks from air! Thieves and looters are now my secondary concern, for Windsong approaches, carrying troops to drop upon the Arm. We must shoot them down before they reach the walls of Argath. If we allow them to land, our position will be overrun. Would you [speak] with Mizzenblast and discuss a strategy of attack?

You say, 'Windsong?'

Troopwielder Latakan says 'Windsong floats above Alaris -- how, I do not know. Its people long ago mastered flight and music, and in calmer times Argath built for them great flying ships. I know not why they have joined in Erillion's aggression, but now the people of the clouds are our enemies.'

You say, 'I'll speak with him'

Troopwielder Latakan says 'You are truly an ally of Argath! Mizzenblast strategizes in the building near us. Like you, al is an outsider, so I do not doubt you will understand alir plan better than I.'

You have been assigned the task 'Protect the Arms'.

Windsong, an ally of Erillion, has begun their air assault on the left arm of Argath. On the right arm, Argathian traitors and Erillion troops prepare for an assault.

Mizzenblast, a Norrathian gnome, has been creating inventions to defeat Erillion. He has devised a plan to stop Windsong's incursion.

Speak with Mizzenblast 0/1 (Argath)

Mizzenblast is found in the building near Latakan.

You say, 'Hail, Mizzenblast'

Mizzenblast says 'Brell's beard! I didn't think Latakan would send me a Dark Elf! But forgive my surprise; I've gotten so used to seeing Argathians! I've been working with them since I [arrived] on the airship. They are a fascinating people, and I can't wait to see the rest of Alaris! But first I must do what I can to [help].'

You say, 'Arrived?'

Mizzenblast says 'It seems none of us could resist traveling to an undiscovered land. I just had to see the kind of [clockworks] the inhabitants might have.'

You say, 'Clockworks?'

Mizzenblast says 'It turns out my own clockworks were more advanced than the Argathians'. When I gave them a demonstration, they sent me immediately to this house and set me to scheming up defense [projects].'

You say, 'What projects?'

Mizzenblast says 'It can be hard to think with arrows flying about and thieves buzzing around, but I haven't been this excited in years. How often do your [inventions] save an entire city?'

You say, 'Inventions?'

Mizzenblast says 'Yes, I was getting to those. Atleris thought Erillion might send Windsong's air brigades to attack Argath, so I designed a little countermeasure I call the 'Mizzenblast [LRK400].''

You say, 'What's the LRK400?'

Mizzenblast says 'The Long Range Killer, accurate to 400 units. Nothing in the sky escapes this beauty. I nearly shot down our own airships testing it out, and birds fear me! Now [Erillion] will feel fear!'

You say, 'Erillion?'

Mizzenblast says 'They will never take this Arm as long as we have the LRK400! You should be the one to use it, though. I get too shaky near battle. You will [help], won't you?'

You say, 'I'll help!'

Mizzenblast says 'I sent out an Argathian earlier. I think his name was Kanleth. He probably got splattered out there. Carry the Long Range Killer 400 and see if you can find him. I'm sure the Windsong transports will be arriving nearby!'

You receive the "Mizzenblast LRK400".

Destroy 5 Windsong transports 0/5 (Argath)

In the northern part of the "arms" section of the zone (around 1200, -780), you'll see dervish mobs appear far up in the air, "a Windsong transport". Target these and right-click the LRK400.

NOTE: These transport mobs drop add spawns in the area you'll be standing. Adds hit for a max ~3,500 and, if left unattended, can add up fast.

Speak with Troopwielder Latakan 0/1 (Argath)

You say, 'Hail, Troopwielder Latakan'

Troopwielder Latakan says 'Windsong should have clung to its music! With Mizzenblast on our side, the skies are ours! My troops can clear out the remaining thieves and looters on this Arm, but Troopwielder Stalvec might need help with the traitors amassing on the right Arm.'

Speak with Troopwielder Stalvec 0/1 (Argath)

Troopwielder Stalvec is on the opposite side of the arms level.

You say, 'Hail, Troopwielder Stalvec'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'Many speak of the outsiders' strength, courage, and nobility. Many are mistaken. What better time is there to capture a city than when it is under siege? When the Erillians are dead, the Argathians will follow. You outsiders perch like [scavengers], waiting for warriors to fall in battle before picking clean the corpses. When Erillion is driven out, and our Regiment is destroyed, the outsiders will claim Argath.'

You say, 'What scavengers?'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'You claim a noble cause, but you lust after steel. You want to feel the heft of an Argathian blade in your hand. You want our fortress to be your fortress. You want our land to be your land. When you have conquered Argath, you will spread over Alaris and plunder it of all riches. You are no better than the [traitors] on this Arm.'

You say, 'Traitors?'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'Eager to avoid death and rule over a fallen Argath, they have defected to Erillion. They would trade their honor and the lives of everyone in Argath for their own gain. And there is no doubt you would do the same. But the [truth] cannot be helped.'

You say, 'The truth?'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'We need you. Erillion is more powerful than Argath. Without the help of outsiders, we will perish. And now, traitors have occupied this Arm. Some of my troops, along with a group of citizens, attacked the guards stationed near the ramp. While my forces were in disarray, a squad of Erillians penetrated our barrier and rushed onto the [Arm].'

You say, 'What about the Arm?'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'We failed to drive them down the ramp. The best we could do was confine them to the rest of this Arm. Cut off as they are from the main Erillian forces, they grow increasingly desperate, and I think they will [strike] soon.'

You say, 'Let's strike!'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'We must attack before they do. My intelligence sources have located three enemy commanders. If we kill them, the traitors and forces of Erillion will be in disarray.'

This opens up the next three steps.

Kill Commander Jesala 0/1 (Argath)

Kill Commander Ilvestra 0/1 (Argath)

Kill Influencer Zagrala 0/1 (Argath)

Task Window Says: You must find and kill the enemy commanders that are leading Erillion forces on the right arm: Commander Jesala, Commander Ilvestra, and Influence Zagrala.

The three southeastern-most buildings in the south part of the arms house these three nameds. The nameds appear to be immune to all crowd control. One or all of them may spawn their own adds, or come with regular zone adds. Non-nameds are mezzable.

Speak with Troopwielder Stalvec 0/1 (Argath)

You say, 'Hail, Troopwielder Stalvec'

Troopwielder Stalvec says 'Zagrala's words trouble me. Does Erillion desire only our Forge? Atleris should be told.'

i went into the southern most building and the commander in there was not Jesala. I was invised and tried to scout out the building and there was 2 named mobs in there besides the guards and a commander that i did not need yet. the quest is showing that there is no ud after i kill jesala if he was in the building there is no way a person could solo that room without being lvl 100 with a substancial amount of AAs. I have all my mitigation maxed at lvl 94 and i was killed in less that 15 sec of agroing the named that saw through inv. if Jesala is in that room i still dont see how someone can survive 2 named mobs that were dark blue to me + 4 other mobs around 90. if any have done this quest and figured out where Jesala is id apreciata a comment
easy solo

Used monk to solo the LRK400 bit. agroed all the troopers thieves and any other trash in the little square. Ran to one end turned and used Neshika's blink. Clicked gun then run or fd if mobs too close. then wash rinse repeat. You can turn and blink right thru mobs then shoot.

Had always problems even in a group with the adds, because the pathing is rotten for merc tanks here, so a tip: kill the three thiefs/looters in that area with a long pull so that you are not in the Wind transport area to get some troopers on you (if you tried them before). After that everybody in the group shots on a ship and the ships are so fast dead that they sometimes not even get a trooper down. Also these troopers if coming cannot add the thiefs and looters and your merc is also not training you while getting the troopers.

Then the whole thing was easy like heaven...

Every time I fire the LRK400 I get chain stunned until a trooper eventually drops down to beat me to death, this happened 3 times in a row before I just gave up on doing the quest. The other comments indicate the quest is pretty difficult to solo, well in my case it was 100% impossible, very frustrating.

Destroy 5 Windsong transports 0/5 (Argath)

In the northern part of the "arms" section of the zone (around 1200, -780), you'll see dervish mobs appear far up in the air, "a Windsong transport". Target these and right-click the LRK400.

Do NOT try this quest alone. You will die, I would say get a group of friends together and go and complete it together.

Did this today 5 boxing: 92Pally, 92 Enchanter, 90 Druid, 90 Shammy,90 wizard & 92 cleric merc ( since the wife did not want to play :P)

Used druid to target "a Windsong transport" and just kept her launching missles. *Note: when these mobs are close to the group: debuffs, dots, and nukes will land. With some good timing everyone should be able to land some kind of damage to "a Windsong transport". In doing so my group only had to kill five of these mobs and everyone got the updates at the same time. I did notice that we had at least five of these transport at one time dropping troopers. Thus, you need to be Jonnie on the spot, with taking out the adds and/or ae/ direct mezzing. All togther it took maybe 7mins to do this part of the quest.

Troopers That the transports drop

Just an FYI one thing I have noticed about the troopers that get dropped byt he transpot are very weak. I am just guesstimating but I would say the only hit for around 3-4k max and have mabye 100k hps. Just my 2 cents.

I've tried this four times and can't see doing this solo. As soon as I fire the first shot at the transport, it starts dropping troopers like it's cool and with 5 shots at a single transport without killing it, I'm at a loss...

For the Windsong update .... I tried killing the wandering adds and the adds that seemed to come from nowhere while boxing this and after wiping in a spectacular fashion, I tried just mezzing the adds. That worked. I just spammed Serenity and Serene Wave while the necro shot the mobs. Takes about two shots to kill the floating dervish. Look straight up...eveentually they will path by. All the while you keep getting those wandering adds. When the necro got the task update for the 5 Windsongs, so did the rest of the group. Thank god for that. I then hit AOE memblur, and Fog of memories on the ones it didnt affect, invised up and done.

Commander Jesala had a zone trash mob by him, I just mezzed it and killed the Commander in his room.

The two named with guards.. the gaurds can be mezzed. I pulled Commander Ilvestra guards out to a safe spot by the pit wall, after I killed a static mob in the pull path....mezzed the two adds.. the named are chump. Seriously, like a lightweight t3 hot name chump.

For Influencer Zagrala be careful, as you open the door he and his guards are in a cubby to the immediate right of the door as you walk in ....and if he sees you - he sees thru invis - you get instant fun. I discovered that with necro, so feigned necro out, ran war and chanter there, walked war in, they agroed him, hit AOE mez with chanter and killed named at the door. Memblur the two adds ... and done.

Commander Ilvestra and Influncer Zagrala both have guards which I'm assuming are tethered to them. Commander Jesala does not. Max hit for all of them was around 10k (max aa sk). Beware their guards respawn within about 4 minutes. Although, their guards hit very low and have very low hps. Not snareable.
