Is there a faction requirement to turn this in?
I've tried handing him stacks, individual, and one at a time.
He gives the same response each time: 'Hey I likes ya, kid... But not that much. Bug off! <BURP!>'

when i did this quest, i tried to stack 4 and do 4 stacks... it didnt work. he treated each stack like one mead.
They "fixed that" somehow SOE decided that getting 16 faction hits at once was too good a thing. I noticed the same problame when doing the milk for mojax quest in WC.

Well.. since I'm max ally to both Guard of Qeynos and Merchant of Qeynos.. and dubious to Circle of Hands.. this will be easy to do. Simply do this.. few times.. maybe hundred or so.. go kill in BB.. all better again :D
This is a way to raise some of the qeynos factions in general:
Do the Bard report quest
Do the Tackle Box Quest
Give Ton the Tunic
Give Tumpy the Mead
Repeat
um..it takes a while, but this works. after you get everything up, I think maybe your merchant fac will still be down..just kill a lot of gnolls to raise it

I am a 54 Shaman Barbie that killed Trumpy many levels ago and want to rebuild my faction. How can I rebuild my faction with the guards and the guy who stands next to trumpy in the tavern so, I can travel thru Quenos once again?

One of the Ironforge sisters in the back of Fish's likes to be hit upon. If you hail her and ask her if you can buy her a drink, she will suggest Ogre Swill. Four of those (same as Trumpy) will get you "A Donation" a lore/no drop item. What can you do with this thing?

By the way, Note that you CANNOT give the honey meads to Trumpy in 4 stacks of 4 each for a total of 16 anymore. They changed this recently.
Turn them in just 4 at a time, unstacked. Use your <Ctrl> key when clicking to pick just one item off a stack at a time to speed this up.

Bravo, Shmoozo! From 24 to 30, I got a job in South Karana as a lumberjack, slaughtering Treants for wood and cheap coin. The druids and I had never really gotten along, so I didn't worry about that faction hit. Months later, after hearing about the series of Investigator Badge quests, I decided to make it up to the Qeynos guards.
I spent a good 8 RL hours in BlackBurrow; butchered EVERY mob in there a dozen times each, and when I came up for air - still Scowling >:(
I have never had a use for my backwater colleagues in the Bloodsaber guild, so I handed 10 stacks of Bone chips over to Lashun Novashine in the hopes of impressing the guards further. Still Scowling - in fact, they Scowled at me the whole way to the QH zoneline, heh.
Frustrated, I logged and came to Allakhazam's, and found Shmoozo's post (again, BRAVO). I gagged Trumpy the Alkie Dorf with Honey Mead, followed the Rogue's Errands quest verbatim, and am now able to drink in any bar in town. Be sure to check back in with Hanns periodically when force-feeding Cap'n Rohand his Brandy.

i'm a lvl 13 wiz, and i'm kos with all the thieves that con blue or above, and i tried this with my wizzie and he swore at me and stuff, so you need a faction rating above threatning
Yes, you will need to be a little above the bottom of the dubious range with the Circle of Unseen Hands before Trumpy will let you do this quest.
Killing Bandits, Brigands and Raiders in the Karanas and Lake Rathetear will raise that faction a little at a time. Expect to kill a LOT of them if you are KOS to the Circle of Unseen Hands before you will get to be able to do this quest, however, because the faction adjustment for killing them is small. On the other hand they also give lots of other good faction adjustments and the only negative faction they give is for Karana Bandits and I don't think anybody cares about that faction very much.

Oh, and save your bandit sashes for the quest given by Chesgard in the Paladin's guild in South Qeynos.

Hmm the facation changes seem to be very very mild (at least the plus change to corrupt guards).
I have given trumpy 3 whole stacks (4 at a time) and received the improved factions message each time, but I didn't change from dubious to the corrupt guards.
Does anybody out there have a clue how many times it would take to do this to raise from dubious to Indifffernt or so?

Suffice it to say that it takes a heck of a lot of honey mead to increase your faction with these groups in a significant way. Think in terms of multiple backpacks full of stacks of honey mead. More to the point, think in terms of carpal tunnel syndrome. On the other hand, it actually does work. You just have to be willing to spend a lot of money on the honey mead and a lot of time (and pain) clicking through the quest.

Note that when there are multiple faction changes listed from a quest or a kill they seem to be listed in the order of decreasing effect. That means that the largest faction effects are seen on the ones at the top of the list, and the smallest faction effects are seen on the factions at the bottom of the list, or at least, that seems to be the way my observations indicate it actually operates.

The *REAL* reason for doing this quest is to either A)learn a little about kane bayle and the bloodsabers, or, more likely, B) Get Trumpy to walk out of the bar and behind the arena where you can KILL him with less chance of being noticed by the guards. otherwise he does an annoying loop around the docks parading his little butt in front of the guards, which is very frustrating when you're trying to lop his head off so Lord Grimrot can have his skull.
Actually another good reason to do this quest is to raise faction with several groups in Qeynos.

once he walks out of the tavern, the only person who will help ihm are CORRUPT guards and the bouncer for the tavern, so during the day, when he is far enough away form the bouncer, kill him, guards dont care

there are 2 ways that I know of off hand
1: kill regular Qeynos guards, ie the non-corrupt ones.
2: run around to ALL the merchants & auction to buy Moonstones from the noobs. then turn them in to McNeal Jorub in the Fish's Ale to get some blackburrow stout.

another option is going to freeport and doing stuff for the rogues or militia there

Unfortunately, the deathfist belts quest in West Freeport gives no positive faction for CQG at all. The note runs do, but most folks who are KOS to CQG also have poor faction with the NPCs involved in that quest, too, so they won't talk to you. Also, to do those quests you have to go to some places in the sewers where Innoruuk-worshipping Dark Elfs are, and if you worship a "good" god, you're automatically KOS to them, and they hit very hard.
