For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry.

This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch.

It begins with a gnome named Chief Engineer Dougal in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1275, -1060, 0 -- overlooking the pit).

You say, 'Hail, Chief Engineer Dougal'

Chief Engineer Dougal says 'Hello. Pretty busy here, you know. Big [project] and all that. What can I do for you?'

You say, 'What's this project?'

Chief Engineer Dougal says 'I'm sure you've heard. We're building an immense rigid airship. It will be a masterpiece when we're done. It will be a dream come true for most of us. Despite the [danger] that prompted this project, we're all very excited about it. This is the sort of amazing project that comes along once in a lifetime, if that. All of Ak'Anon is working to make this project happen. Are you [interested] in helping?'

You say, 'I'm interested'

Chief Engineer Dougal says 'That's nice to hear. I might have a [task] for you, but you should check with my chief engineers, they certainly could use some help.'

You say, 'What task?'

Chief Engineer Dougal says 'Hrmm...'

A task window pops up with a single task to choose.

You have been assigned the task 'Steam Engine - Pristine Oil'.

For the most delicate parts of the engine, a very fine oil will be needed. The only place to get perfect oil is the Underfoot, where the very best tinkers have gone after death. Go there and speak with the Cleaner Bot. If anyone will know how to get pristine oil, he will. Speak with the Cleaner Bot. His life is spent cleaning and repairing the very best devices. Surely he will know where to get the perfect oil.

Speak with Cleaner Bot 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

The Cleaner Bot is found at location 135, 715, 54 in Kernagir.

You say, 'Hail, Cleaner Bot'

Cleaner Bot says 'Hello, _____. You seek some of the purest oil? I can't just hand that out to anyone. We need it here. But if you were sent here by the engineers of Ak'Anon, then perhaps you can get the answers to some of my questions. We've heard that Brell, in his great wisdom, sent one of his Telmira to Norrath to speak for him. We have not been told why. Certainly he has been too busy to keep minor servants such as myself informed. If you could speak with the members of the council and find out what is happening, I might be able to find some spare oil for you.'

Speak with the Gatekeeper 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

The Gatekeeper is right outside the zone-in portal of Kernagir, and the remaining hails are mostly done in the council chambers of Kernagir.

You say, 'Hail, The Gatekeeper'

The Gatekeeper says 'I don't really have any desire to talk to you about Brell's comings and goings. It's not really any of your business if Karana visited us or that Brell sent messengers all over just after she left. Now move along!'

Speak with Secretary Kilkin 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Secretary Kilkin'

Secretary Kilkin says 'I'm pretty sure I already told you that I wasn't your personal secretary.'

Speak with Rock Icewalker 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Rock Icewalker'

Rock Icewalker says 'I apologize, friend, but I was in the Cooling Chambers supervising some work that needed doing. All I know is that we have sent one of the Telmira to the upworld to speak for us. You might want to ask your questions there.'

Speak with Turuff the Warrior 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Turuff the Warrior'

Turuff the Warrior says 'Turuff not know what happen. Turuff too busy thinking about making right decisions for clan and Underfoot to worry about upworld.'

Speak with Tuft 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Tuft'

Tuft says 'Tuft is knowing something about that. Tuft clan is consulted about making flying ship. Tuft clan not experts about that, so not help much. Ship needing building for travelling to place where danger is worst. Danger worst for gods of us, even Maker god. That all Tuft know.'

Speak with Refal Sabreclaw 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Refal Saberclaw'

Refal Saberclaw says 'Ah, I have heard that something is going on in the Upworld. It isn't something I'm involved with, so I can't give you any information.'

Speak with Rinkitin, Master Tinker 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Rinkitin, Master Tinker'

Rinkitin, Master Tinker says 'Oh, that. I know something of it. The folks in the upworld have been asked to make a ship to allow them access to a place that they can't get to yet. I don't know where, I only know that it can only realistically be reached through the air, something about the waters being too dangerous.'

Speak with Shining Thought 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Shining Thought'

Shining Thought says 'My thoughts on that matter or inadequate to meet your needs.'

Speak with Grondigar 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Grondigar'

Grondigar says 'I am too young to have been included in the conversations about what you seek. Only the elders were consulted, and you would not be able to understand their speech. You would not live long enough to hear their introductions, if they were to speak about it.'

Speak with Schelly Starflight 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Schelly Starflight'

Schelly Starflight says 'Oh, you speak of the threat. I know something about it. It seems that one of the gods was killed recently. There is some fear that this might happen more and that some of the weaker, less clever gods might be killed. This seems silly to me, but that is, I believe, what they [gathered] to talk about.'

You say, 'Gathered?'

Schelly Starflight says 'I don't know for sure, I can't track that passage of gods. And I doubt that they all came here. Tunare was here. I saw her. She was beautiful. I also felt the heat of one of the fire gods, though I have no idea which.'

Speak with Hirslum Stormseeker 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Hirslum Stormseeker'

Hirslum Stormseeker says 'Hmmm... I wasn't consulted about that, though I heard the same rumors you probably heard. Whatever it is, it didn't require any new weapons, or they would have asked me!'

Speak with Belina Hearthwarmer 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Belina Hearthwarmer'

Belina Hearthwarmer looks down for a moment, then meets your eyes. 'I know much about what has transpired. I understand what the gods fear, at least as much as I can. There is some power come into the world. Or, perhaps more accurately, revealed to the world. It has used Norrath's Heroes to kill for it and the gods fear they might do so again.

Speak with Cleaner Bot 0/1 (Kernagir, the Shining City)

You say, 'Hail, Cleaner Bot'

You accept the Pristine Oil and stash it away safely.

Cleaner Bot says 'That is interesting information. Thank you for gathering it for me. Accept this Can of Pristine Oil as a token of my appreciation.'

Speak with Speak with Chief Engineer Dougal 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

You say, 'Hail, Chief Engineer Dougal'

Chief Engineer Dougal shook your hand when you delivered the oil to him.
