NOTE: THIS TASK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN GAME.

For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry.

This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch.

It begins with a gnome named Chief Textile Engineer Treddle in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1215, -1380).

You say, 'Hail, Chief Textile Engineer Treddle'

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Hi! I'm Treddle. I've been given the exciting task of designing the textile portions of the project. Mostly that is the envelope. And one massive envelope it is! It's going to be a lot of work to stitch it together, and we'll need a lot of [materials].'

You say, 'What materials?'

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Mostly we just need a lot of canvas. Sailcloth will work. We have to treat it, but that's part of my special recipe and I'm not about to tell you what that is! We'll also need a lot of rope... a lot of it. I don't suppose you know anything about airships? I find the whole thing intriguing. It's not something I'd ever expected to be [involved] in.'

You say, 'How are you involved?'

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'I'm a tailor by trade, but they figured that since I'd done some large orders of some very large suits that I'd had more experience than anyone else. Some ridiculous idea a Halfling came in with one day. Something about inviting a dozen giants to his wedding, just for a bit of contrast. I made the suits, amazing work if you ask me, but I don't think the wedding ever happened. Too bad, I would have loved to see my work on real giants. This [work] will be different than that, though. I try to make my clothing breath, but here they want the opposite in the cloth for the project.'

You say, 'What work?'

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'It is fun work, even if there will be a lot of it. Speaking of work, I don't suppose you can find the time to gather up some supplies for me? It's a difficult [task], and I don't really have any people to spare.'

You say, 'What task?'

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Wonderful! That's fantastic. Thank you so much!'

A task window pops up with two tasks to choose from.

You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Envelope - Textiles'.

Treddle asked you to gather up some high quality cloth for the skin of the blimp itself. He suggested that the best cloth might come from the pirates known as the Blacksail. Kill the pirates if you have to, but find some of that Blacksail cloth or the project might never get off the ground, literally.

Find some Durable Blacksail Cloth 0/2 (The Buried Sea)

Blacksail Folly is the northernmost island in the Buried Sea and it's full of pirate mobs. Killing various pirates with "Blacksail" in their name yields the following emote types (no actual item involved):

a Blacksail seabones has no sail cloth
a Blacksail pirate has no sail cloth
a Blacksail mate has no sail cloth
a Blacksail pirate drops a small roll of sail cloth onto the ground
a Blacksail pirate drops a small roll of sail cloth onto the ground

Deliver the Blacksail cloth to Treddle 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

You say, 'Hail, Chief Textile Engineer Treddle'

Treddle giggled a little when you gave him the cloth.

Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Why thank you! This is a fair amount of Blacksail Cloth. Wonderful.'

Pirates near the zonein from riding the boat from Barren Coast work.

(Is this a straight kill update or it there an actual item involved?)
no item drop involved

(Last step?)

Last step is:

"Deliver the Blacksail cloth to Treddle" 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

(Missing and closing dialogues needed.)

While there are lots of pirates, other than the hounds, all of the Blacksail pirates are behind the locked doors, the keys to which are obtained in group missions. Plus the mobs must have Blacksail in the name and other than the few hounds most here don't.

You want to find the right mobs just stay on the island the ships stop at, Jadel's Hook.
