For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry. This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch. It begins with a gnome named Chief Textile Engineer Treddle in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1215, -1380). You say, 'Hail, Chief Textile Engineer Treddle' Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Hi! I'm Treddle. I've been given the exciting task of designing the textile portions of the project. Mostly that is the envelope. And one massive envelope it is! It's going to be a lot of work to stitch it together, and we'll need a lot of [materials].' You say, 'What materials?' Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Mostly we just need a lot of canvas. Sailcloth will work. We have to treat it, but that's part of my special recipe and I'm not about to tell you what that is! We'll also need a lot of rope... a lot of it. I don't suppose you know anything about airships? I find the whole thing intriguing. It's not something I'd ever expected to be [involved] in.' You say, 'How are you involved?' Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'I'm a tailor by trade, but they figured that since I'd done some large orders of some very large suits that I'd had more experience than anyone else. Some ridiculous idea a Halfling came in with one day. Something about inviting a dozen giants to his wedding, just for a bit of contrast. I made the suits, amazing work if you ask me, but I don't think the wedding ever happened. Too bad, I would have loved to see my work on real giants. This [work] will be different than that, though. I try to make my clothing breath, but here they want the opposite in the cloth for the project.' You say, 'What work?' Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'It is fun work, even if there will be a lot of it. Speaking of work, I don't suppose you can find the time to gather up some supplies for me? It's a difficult [task], and I don't really have any people to spare.' You say, 'What task?' Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Wonderful! That's fantastic. Thank you so much!' A task window pops up with two tasks to choose from. You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Envelope - Ropes'. The project will need a lot of very thick rope to help keep the shape of the envelope. Treddle thinks that the best rope should come from the giants of Kael. Who better than a giant for thick rope? He thinks you'll have the best luck with the wolves or those that tame them, since they use ropes for training and leashing. Kill wolves and their trainers in Kael until you find enough Wolf Leashes. Find some Wolf Leashes 0/2 (Kael Drakkel) There are mobs called "a Drakkel Dire Wolf" and "a Kromrif wolfmaster" (about 55th level) found outside the entrance gateway of Tormax's throne area. It's possible the lower level domesticated wolves will also work. This step will update randomly upon kills with the emote (not an actual item): a Drakkel Dire Wolf drops a Wolf Leash onto the ground, which you pick up. Deliver the wolf leashes to Treddle 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains) You say, 'Hail, Chief Textile Engineer Treddle' Treddle smiled when you gave him the rope. Chief Textile Engineer Treddle says 'Ah, why thanks! These leashes will work perfectly, if I can get the smell of wet dog off of them.' To get update on the leash just kill any wolf in Kael will do.

I killed Drakkel Dire Wolves and got the following update as an emote on the first 2 kills so don't know what the emote is when it doesn't update (no item drop involved):
"a Drakkel Dire Wolf drops a Wolf Leash onto the ground, which you pick up"
