NOTE: THIS TASK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN GAME.

For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry.

This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch.

It begins with a gnome named Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle in the Steamfont Mountains. She's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1415, -1475, 5 -- in the back area of the work site).

You say, 'Hail, Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle'

Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'Hello there. I am Chief Smelter Whistle. Basically that means that, for this project at least, I am responsible for all metal work. That turns out to be a rather complicated task, for which I need a lot of [help].'

You say, 'Help?'

Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'We have a lot of workers and engineers on the project, but there is a lot to do. There is a lot more metal in a dirigible than most folks know. And it has to be special metal in most cases. We need agents to find what we need. If you aren't here just to site see, then you might be interested in doing a few [tasks] for me.'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'We have a lot that needs doing.'

A task window pops up with three tasks to choose from.

You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Frame - Nuts!'.

A project like this one will need a very large number of nuts. You have been tasks to find some. Oddly, hardly anyone ever bothers to make nuts. I guess they just hammer over and over. Well not for THIS project! Only the finest nuts! Find them in S.H.I.P. Workshop off clockworks.

Find some nuts off steamworks 0/4 (S.H.I.P. Workshop)

This updates randomly as you kill steamworks in the S.H.I.P. Workshop (note: It's possible that only mobs with "steamwork" in their name count).

Speak with any smelting engineer 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

(Missing and closing dialogues needed.)

I've been killing mobs with steamwork in the name for 2 hours with no updates

This is not an actual item drop. I received all four updates by killing four mobs with the word "steamwork" actually in their name. Steamwork models such as "a lab assistant" did not give an update. The first four steamworks I killed gave update, so it seems to be 100% success unless I'm just lucky. There is no emote for a successful or failed update in this quest.

After doing this quest a second time for an alt, I've discovered updates are not 100% success, just got lucky the first time. Also there is in fact an emote for killing the correct mob without receiving an update:
"a steamwork striker does not have any nuts." No emote on a successful update.
