This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch. It begins with a gnome named Chief Engineer Dougal in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1275, -1060, 0 -- overlooking the pit). You say, 'Hail, Chief Engineer Dougal' Chief Engineer Dougal says 'Hello. Pretty busy here, you know. Big [project] and all that. What can I do for you?' You say, 'What's this project?' Chief Engineer Dougal says 'I'm sure you've heard. We're building an immense rigid airship. It will be a masterpiece when we're done. It will be a dream come true for most of us. Despite the [danger] that prompted this project, we're all very excited about it. This is the sort of amazing project that comes along once in a lifetime, if that. All of Ak'Anon is working to make this project happen. Are you [interested] in helping?' You say, 'I'm interested' Chief Engineer Dougal says 'That's nice to hear. I might have a [task] for you, but you should check with my chief engineers, they certainly could use some help.' You say, 'What task?' Chief Engineer Dougal says 'Hrmm...' You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Frame - Copper Plating'. A task window pops up with a single task to choose. You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Frame - Copper Plating'. The engineers plan to make some extravagant plating to protect important parts of the ship, especially around the waist and tail supports. To do this they will need your help. Gather Sheets of Electrified Copper. This will work to attract dangerous lightning strikes. Collect 2 Sheets of Electrified Copper 0/2 (ALL) See this recipe for information about putting together the sheets. Collect 2 Large Bricks of High Quality Steel 0/2 (ALL) See this recipe for information about putting together the bricks. Find a cloud stone from the temple guardians in the Plane of Air (Eryslai, the Kingdom of Wind) This updates randomly as you kill temple guardians in the Plane of Air. Create 1 Air Temper using tradeskills 0/1 (ALL) Brewing Combine: 1x Dwarven Ale + 2x Drop of Mercury. Create 1 Electrified Copper Plate using tradeskills 0/1 (ALL) Smithing Combine: 2x Large Brick of High Quality Steel + 2x Sheet of Electrified Copper + 1x Air Temper. Deliver 1 Electrified Copper Plate to Chief Engineer Dougal 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains) Your task 'Blimp Frame - Copper Plating' has been updated. The engineer thanked you heartily for the ECP. Since i can make a breastplate that tributes for 24975 with 3 sheets of this copper, this quest is really too expensive to even consider doing for only one ticket
Success comes when preparation meets opportunity -- and EQ is no exception.
Some of these quests are harder than others, take more time than others and require higher skills or levels than others. What could possibly be the incentive for bothering with them?? When I can simply put oil in a barrel, and kill skellies and give food to workers and get about 4 tickets without ever leaving zone, why bother with quests that require no trade items, traipsing all over norrath, killing in high level zones or in low levels where you have to go to another continent just to get to for just one ticket? Now if they would give me 10 tickets i would say it is well worth the trouble but only one???? come on now, do you think you will get me to give up my expensive refined high quality ore which you have to buy -- not a drop or anything -- for a quest that is only one ticket? not worth it.
