For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry.

This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch.

It begins with a gnome named Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains.

You say, 'Hail, Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring'

Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring says 'Hrmf. I'm a busy gnome. We've got a massive [project] under way here, and I really don't have time to spare.'

You say, 'What project?'

Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring says 'You don't know about it? Well I don't have time to go into details. You should talk to Olim, he likes to chat. Then again, if you have that much spare time, maybe you could use it productively by [helping] out around here.'

You say, 'Helping, how?'

Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring says 'We can always use hands doing the non-skilled stuff. I think you'll be useful doing some of those [tasks].'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Chief Wood Engineer Gilanspring says 'Nothing too difficult for you, I hope.'

A task window pops up with a single task to choose.

You have been assigned the task 'Blimp Frame - Curved Wooden Beams'.

The ship the gnomes are building is a rigid airship of some sort, apparently a massive one. The frame will need several properly curved wooden beams. Fontpines aren't strong enough to make scaffolding. Go talk to someone from the Wayfarers Brotherhood and see if they can spare some good posts.

Speak with a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier 0/1 (Nedaria's Landing)

An NPC called "a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier" spawns around the south part of the dock area of Nedaria's Landing (approximate area of 250, 1450).

You say, 'Hail, a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier'

a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier says 'Hello there. You say that you are looking for some sturdy posts? We can provide what you need to make them. I'd like to help out, but I can't just give away Brotherhood resources. If you can provide me with just a few items we need to help keep up our food supplies, I can certainly provide you a few planks. I'm sure you can find a way to make posts from them.'

Deliver 2 Fishing net to a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier 0/2 (Nedaria's Landing)

These drop in the Hills of Shade off fishermen (found around the coast area in the northern part of the zone).

Deliver 1 Shiliskin Fishing Net to a Wayfarers Brotherhood Supplier 0/1 (Nedaria's Landing)

You can loot one of these from "a shiliskin supply barrel" in Undershore. They're found in and around the Malgrinnor fortress (northeast section of the zone) as well as around Jarzarrad the Prophet's area in the southwest (vicinity of -975, 700).

You receive 2x "Wide Jaggedpine Plank".

Create 1 Jaggedpine Post using tradeskills 0/1 (ALL)

In a Fletching Kit, combine: 2x Wide Jaggedpine Plank + 1x Kunzar Glue.

NOTE: See this recipe link for details about making the Kunzar Glue.

Use the Steamfont steam vents to bend the wooden post 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

At -1310, -975, there is steam coming out of a vent. Go to this location and you'll see this emote:

You hold it over the vent and with all your strength begin to bend it.

After a few moments, you'll see:

You successfully bend it into a useful curve for the structure of the Zepplin.

Deliver 1 Curved Wooden Beam to any wood engineer 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

Upon turn-in:

The engineer seemed pleased when you handed over the curved beam.

Task step 2: Deliver 2 Fishing net to a Wayfarers Brotherhood supplier (Nedaria's landing)

Guess they forgot to edit the quest they copied this from. Maybe the patch in half an hour will fix this.
