You say, 'Hail, Gallentin the Adventurer'

Gallentin the Adventurer raises his dagger as you approach. 'Do my eyes deceive me? Are you mortal? Shall I test my [blade] upon you?'

You say, 'You don't need to test your blade on me...'

Gallentin the Adventurer lowers his dagger but still eyes you warily. 'I apologize. The moment I lower my blade in haste is the moment my life is claimed. Since arriving in this plane I have seen thousands of adventurers slaughtered, their corpses strewn about the hills. I cannot be too [cautious].'

You say, 'Why so cautious?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'I came to slay a god. There were twenty of us, all veterans of many battles. We drew our weapons against Cazic himself. He rose up before us, and with a swing sent swords sailing like silver grass under a scythe. My companions lay in heaps of blood and broken bones; I dropped my sword and [fled] in terror.'

You say, 'You fled?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'My wounds gushing, I staggered about, hiding in ditches, behind walls, or among corpses. Whenever I glanced behind me, I could see a blurred vision of Cazic Thule lumbering toward me, treading upon the skulls of the fallen, following my [trail] of blood.'

You say, 'How'd he manage to follow your trail?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'He can smell you; he can smell the fear that pumps through your body. With Cazic pursuing me, I hid myself as best I could and bound my wounds. But still I bled, and he would not stop. His hunger had to be [sated].'

You say, 'Sated?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'In my delirium, I stumbled across an adventurer's camp. He was sitting at his campfire, with his back to me, spear in hand, scanning for unseen threats. He never saw me. I drew my dagger and stabbed him twice in his side. As he turned toward me in shock, I kicked the spear from his hands. 'Be gone, or I end your life!' I shouted to him. He ran haltingly from the camp, spurting [blood] from his injuries.'

You say, 'Blood?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'A ridge of spines stabbed through the hillside, and Cazic's visage lurched into view. But he had not come for me. The stricken adventurer could no longer run, only cower. Cazic lifted the bleeding, screaming man above his head, holding him by the arms and legs. With a mighty pull, Cazic ripped him in two. Like surf breaking against rocks, the blood sprayed across Cazic's face and drenched his spikes. He discarded the two halves of the man's corpse on the top of a mound of rotting flesh and stained breastplates. I was safe, and I [slinked] away.'

You say, 'What happened after you slinked away?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'Since then I have wandered this plane, doing what is necessary to survive. I have found no way out, and have seen horrors I cannot describe. But I have also been observing. When the sky dims, these temples are haunted by the three emissaries of Cazic: Terror, Dread, and Fright. Almost as cruel as Cazic himself, they wander the plane, seeking adventurers to devour. They are manifestations of Cazic's power--I am certain of it--and with their [defeat], we can destroy Cazic.'

You say, 'Let's defeat them'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'I do not yet trust you, but you are necessary for my plan. I need numbers. With your [sacrifice], we will kill Cazic Thule and eliminate the existence of Fear throughout all of Norrath!'

You say, 'MY sacrifice? Think again'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'There will be no victory over fear without sacrifice. Those adventurers whom I have not killed in my own defense, I have convinced: We must give even our lives to destroy Cazic. His lust for blood will be his [downfall].'

You say, 'It's time for his downfall'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'The time has come. Any moment now Terror, Dread, and Fright will arrive at their temples. We will begin our assault upon them, and if Cazic approaches, we will make blood sacrifices of ourselves to lead him away from the main force. But let no one hesitate: If you see your companion's eyes fill with terror and their dagger enter its sheath, lend them your own courage: slit their throat and push them toward Cazic's grasp. While he drinks, we will [decide] his fate.'

You say, 'Let's decide it'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'Shall you [help] me, adventurer?'

You say, 'I'll help'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'Gather your forces and tell me when you are [ready] to eradicate Fear itself.'

Cazic's Final Stand is now available to you.

You say, 'Ready!'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

Summary

- Say "begin" to Gallentin the Adventurer to spawn the event.

- Kill Dread, Fright, and Terror (along with their adds) within 12 minutes of the event's trigger.
- You'll be ported into the Ring of Fire, shortly after which you'll engage Cazic Thule.
- Fight Cazic Thule to 4% while fending off his spectre adds and following his emotes.
- Finish off Cazic Thule after he goes active again.

Triggering the Event

Say "begin" to spawn the event.

You say, 'Hail, Gallentin the Adventurer'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'You may thank the dead for the daggers I have given you. They are the sharpest I could find. When Cazic draws nigh and endangers our mission, one of you must sacrifice their life, or the life of a companion, to distract him. And we must work swiftly, for if he alerts Terror, Dread, or Fright, we will surely be [destroyed].'

You say, 'Destroyed?'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'We cannot face four of them together, and if Cazic catches any of us, we are all dead. Hurry, we must [begin]; I see Cazic descending from his mountain of slaughter.'

You say, 'Let's begin!'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'Go now! Bring an end to Cazic Thule's reign!'

This spawns Dread, Fright, and Terror at their respective temples, as well as numerous adventurer NPCs. It also starts a 12-minute timer.

Dread, Fright, and Terror: The Timer

From the moment you say "begin" to Gallentin the Adventurer, you have 12 minutes to kill the three golems along with all their trash mobs. If you don't stay within this timer, Cazic Thule warps all living NPCs and PCs inside the Ring of Fire, causing you to get swarmed by whatever mobs are still up (and Cazic Thule himself).

Dread, Fright, and Terror: Keeping Cazic Thule Pre-Occupied

Upon zoning in, everyone receives a "Dagger of Self-Sacrifice" on their cursor.

As soon as you trigger the event, numerous NPCs called "an adventurer" spawn around the area. Shortly after, Cazic Thule will appear and start slowly making his way into the raid area from the north.

Someone (or multiple people) needs to use the dagger's right-click effect on the "an adventurer" NPCs (all the while staying away from Cazic himself). As Gallentin told you, Cazic will be drawn to their blood and will chase them down instead of making his way into your raid.

If he catches any player (happens if anyone gets within a normal aggro range), he'll death touch that player and start summoning random players to his location. He'll continue doing this until you've either defeated Dread, Fright, and Terror, or every living player in the zone is dead.

Don't let him catch you.

Dread, Fright, and Terror: The Encounters

There are three temples near the zone-in area. At each temple, there is one golem along with 7-9 trash mobs. It doesn't matter what order you kill the golems.

Note: Compared to the golems, the trash mobs have very few hitpoints.

Dread

Dread is located at the northwest temple along with several amygdalans and samhains. Dread hits for a max ~20,000 and has an aura around him that inflicts its targets with "Tigir's Insects" and "Scarab Storm":

Tigir's Insects: Single Target, Magic (-690)
1: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%
2: Silence
3: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
4: Decrease Endurance by 500 per tick
5: Decrease Mana by 500 per tick
6: Increase Disease Counter by 22

Scarab Storm: Single Target, Disease (-690)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 12000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 1600 per tick
3: Increase Disease Counter by 19

The amygdalans hit for a max ~17,000.

The samhains hit for a max ~15,500 and cast "Fearsome Adrenaline" (a buff to other mobs around them):

Fearsome Adrenaline: Single Target, Magic (-690)
1: Increase Attack Speed by 130%
2: AE Melee (12)

Fright

Fright is located at the southwest temple along with several wraiths and zombies. Fright hits for a max ~20,000 and casts "Boil Blood", "Magi Curse" and "Captured Soul" (cast on a random target):

Boil Blood: Single Target, Fire (-690)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 1400 per tick

Captured Soul: Single Target, Disease (-690)
1: Illusion: Banshee
2: Charm up to level 100
3: Decrease Fire Resist by 50
4: Increase Curse Counter by 15

Magi Curse: Targeted AE 50', Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 20000
2: Spin and Stun for 6(s).
3: Decrease Mana by 4000 per tick
4: Decrease Hitpoints by 3000 per tick

The wraiths and zombies hit for a max ~15,500.

Terror

Terror is located at the southeast temple along with several boogeymen and spectres. Terror hits for a max ~20,000 and casts "Frost Breath", "Touch of Terror", and "Specter Lifetap":

Frost Breath: Targeted AE 45', Cold (-690)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 27000

Touch of Terror: Single Target, Magic (-710)
1: Fear up to level 100
2: Increase Curse Counter by 20

Specter Lifetap: Lifetap 0', Magic (-690)

3: Increase Curse Counter by 15

The boogeymen hit for a max ~15,500 and cast "Deepening Terror" (cast on mobs around it):

Deepening Terror: Single Target, Magic (-690)
1: Increase Hitpoints by 120000

Soon after all three golems and all trash mobs are dead, this will unfold:

Cazic Thule says 'This is not as it should be! How can you defy me in my own realm? Come, face me in combat. I will heap your bones in a pile of slaughter that reaches to the sky!'

Gallentin the Adventurer says 'Cazic Thule retreats to his mountain! This will be his final battle! Go, and make him fear for his existence!'

Shortly after that, everyone in the zone will be ported to the base of Cazic's blood mound. You'll see three more emotes before he goes live:

Cazic Thule's spikes bristle, and a guttural rasp penetrates your mind. 'Death is not the only thing a mortal fears. I am an adder beneath the brush; I am a wolf beyond the gleam of campfires. I am a spy in a kingdom at war; I am a bastard in the castle of a king; I am a traitor in the ranks of an army. I am the loss of an eye or limb; I am the humiliation of courtesans; I am the scorn of a desired lover. And I am everlasting punishment.

Cazic Thule says 'How many like you have I killed, tortured, maimed? Here their blood surges with the fear of imminent death, as undoubtedly yours does. I could dismember you inch by inch, staunching your blood each time I tear off more of your body. I could flay you and splay your living flesh like a banner over my spines, every exposed nerve pierced and wailing. I am unbearable pain that does not end in death.'

Cazic Thule says 'I am the obliteration of you and all of your companions. You have fought together and bled together. Now you shall die together.'

Shortly after the last emote, he goes aggro.

Cazic Thule: An Overview

The final area is surrounded by a ring of fire. Don't step in it, or you'll be death touched.

Cazic Thule hits for a max ~22,000. He can be moved around and it's not known if he leashes to any particular area within the ring of fire. He doesn't flurry or rampage. In addition to his emote-based and timed AE spells (listed below), he casts the spell "Fetid Strike":

Fetid Strike: Line of Sight 0', Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 44000
2: SpinStun

The fight with Cazic Thule can be broken into three phases.

Phase 1: From 100% to 30% (the adventurers/spectres phase)
Phase 2: From 30% to 4% (the fear phase)
Phase 3: From 4% to 0% (his last stand)

NOTE: There is no break between the first and second phase (the fight is continuous), however there is a short break between the second and third phases.

Throughout the entire encounter, you'll have to contend with emotes which, if not followed, result in a death touch and AE DOT spell on people around the targetted player (more information about these in the next section).

Cazic Thule: The Emotes

Cazic Thule has two directional-based emotes which precede non-death touch AEs:

Emote #1: Cazic Thule detects your presence behind him.
------ 10-second warning rear AE "Fearful Awareness":

Fearful Awareness: Directional 100', Magic (-690)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 35000

Emote #2: Cazic Thule dislikes your presence in front of him.
------ 10-second warning to the frontal AE "Quailing Spirit":

Quailing Spirit: Directional 40', Corruption (-10)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
2: Increase corruption counter by 25
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 per tick

He also has four death touch emotes:

Emote #1: Cazic Thule says '_____, remove four of your enhancement spells, or I will devastate you and those nearby!'
------ 15-second warning to remove four of your buffs.

Emote #2: Cazic Thule says '_____, come to me, or you shall suffer.'
------ 10-second warning to get under Cazic Thule.

Emote #3: Cazic Thule says '_____, begone from my presence, or I will devastate you and those nearby!'
------ 15-second warning to move away from Cazic Thule.

Emote #4: Cazic Thule says 'Begone from my presence, _____, or I end your life!'
------ 10-second warning to move away from Cazic Thule.

If you're the target of an emote, you have 10-15 seconds to do what he says, or you'll be death touched and he'll AE DOT everyone around you:

Cazic Touch: Single Target, Unresistable (-690)
1: Add effect: Cazic Corruption
2: Add effect: Death Touch

Cazic Corruption: Targeted AE 60', Unresistable (-650)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 15000 per tick
2: Increase corruption counter by 35

Death Touch: Single Target, Unresistable (-710)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000000

NOTE: His emotes are random. He'll do them four at a time on random targets, every 30 seconds. Depending on whether you're successful or you fail, you'll see this kinds of responses:

Cazic Thule says '_____ did not heed my command!'

Cazic Thule says '_____ has avoided my wrath.'

Cazic Thule says '_____ has removed their enhancement spells as I commanded. No one will suffer because of them.'

Cazic Thule: Phase One (100% - 30%)

Soon after Cazic Thule goes active, you'll see this emote:

Cazic Thule's power gathers as adventurers assault him

When this happens, he buffs himself with "Runes of Protection" (a one-time buff, until the next adventurer spawn):

Runes of Protection: Self 0', Magic (-690)
1: Increase Absorb Damage by 700000
2: Increase Absorb Magic Damage by 700000

Waves of "an adventurer" NPCs charge his location. He'll death touch them as they get near him, so you can ignore them and keep bringing Cazic's health down.

NOTE: At this point, his health is locked at 79% (you can bring him down to that point, but no lower). It doesn't unlock until his next emote goes off.

65-75 seconds after the above "adventurers" emote, you'll see another...

Cazic Thule has eaten his fill and now disgorges his power.

...At which point his health unlocks, he begins attacking again, and he AEs "Corrosive Trembling" on most people (a one-time cast coinciding with the "disgorges" emote):

Corrosive Trembling: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000 per tick
2: Increase corruption counter by 40

This process will repeat itself three more times, with health locks at 64%, 49%, and 34%.

Also during this phase (any time from 65%-30%), he'll summon spectre adds two at a time (1x "a defender of Cazic"; 1x "a healer of Cazic"). These adds' appearance is preceded by this emote:

Cazic Thule commands his servants to assist him.

It's not known how add spawns are determined. They may be on a random timer, as there is no exact number of add sets per encounter.

Healers hit for a max ~16,000 and cast "Everlasting of Fear" and "Fortification of Fear":

Everlasting Fear: Single Target, Magic (-690)
1: Increase Hitpoints by 50000 per tick
2: Increase corruption counter by 50

Fortification of Fear: Single Target, Magic (-690)
1: Mitigate Melee Damage by 90%, 500000 total
2: Mitigate Spell Damage by 90%, 500000 total
3: Increase corruption counter by 125

Defenders hit for a max ~16,000 and cast "Grave Flame" and "Grave Frost":

Grave Flame: Single Target, Fire (-690)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 32000

Grave Frost: Single Target, Cold (-690)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 33000

NOTE: He won't summon these adds while the adventurers are active.

Once Cazic Thule reaches 30%, you won't have any more adventurer spawns or spectre adds.

Cazic Thule: Phase Two (30% - 4%)

During this phase, Cazic will lay small fear and death touch auras in the area. You'll see emotes like this:

Cazic Thule covers a patch of ground in fear.

Cazic Thule directs his thoughts to the NORTH and absorbs the ground in fear.

If you step into one of these auras, you may be inflicted with "Abject Fear" or "Cazic's Flames":

Abject Fear: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Fear up to level 110
2: Increase corruption counter by 45

Cazic's Flames: Single Target, Unresistable (-700)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000000

As he gets very low in health, you'll see the emote:

Cazic Thule begins to fear for his life.

He may stop attacking and start slowly moving away towards the ring of fire, although he doesn't always do this. It's unknown if this represents a timer which, if passed, becomes a failure.

Between the fear spells, the death touches, and randomness of his movements, you'll want to get him from 30% to 4% as soon as possible. Once he reaches 4%, he'll go inactive.

Cazic Thule: Phase Three (4% - 0%)

Once Cazic Thule goes inactive at 4%, you'll see this unfold:

Cazic Thule's labored words form in your mind. 'I did not think this possible, but you have proven it to me. Somehow, this plane is not my own. How long ago was it? My daughter, Terris, appeared to me and bade me walk with her. She showed to me a mansion as expansive and resplendent as the very rays of Sol. We entered, and her voice faded into memory, like chimes on the wind. I was again here, in my plane.'

Cazic Thule says 'The hills soon ran with blood. Adventurers came by the thousands. I dashed their skulls against this obelisk and pulled apart their bones. They flung themselves at me, cowered, and then died in agony. But never had there been so many. And they began to look the same.'

Cazic Thule says 'I wandered this plane but found no escape. I began to see visions: A luminous horn pulsing at the edge of perception; the voice of my son, Morrel, rising above my daughter's. And my strength began to wane. Longer and longer it took for me to decimate an entire regiment of soldiers.'

Cazic Thule says 'And now you have me on the cusp of death. Yes, I am now certain: My children have imprisoned me, and they weaken me unto destruction. To what end I do not know. What drives a child to harbor malice and guile against their parent? Are not dreams and nightmares bastions of fear? Does not the child learn to fight or flee from the vicious predator in the safety of dreams or nightmares? Without me, my children have no purpose.'

Cazic Thule's words come slowly. 'And what of you? What power do you have over me? What quarrel do we have? Would you walk blithely into a throng of swords and spears arrayed against you? Would you sacrifice yourself for another without hesitation, or would you thrust a companion into a rain of arrows to shield yourself from death? I can save or destroy you. You hate me, but I bring balance to your existence. Without Fear, you are all doomed.'

Note: At this point, he once again becomes attackable. Very shortly after the above emote, you'll see...

Cazic Thule rallies all his remaining strength in a final stand.

...And he resumes meleeing.

Cazic Thule has been slain by _____!

Terris Thule appears down the hillside.

Terris Thule stares at the corpse of her father. 'You were a fool, Cazic. Your power was instinctual, but mine is intellectual; you controlled the body, but I control the mind. And now I will have both. He cannot stop me; you cannot stop me!'

Terris Thule says 'Do you hear me, adventurers? It constantly amazes me how stupid you are! Did you think you defeated me? Did you think you had any power over nightmares? Did you think these hills and corpses were anything other than dreams? And now you have killed my father. Do not fear, though. You are my precious little puppets, always running around, killing everything that poses the slightest bit of threat to you. If you had not killed him, I would have done so myself. His time was at an end.'

Terris Thule says 'When he took me to the house, his horn was glowing brighter than ever. He said his power resonated within the walls, and near the winged statues his thoughts sprang to life: hallways that submerged into sunken caverns, gables that floated off into clouds. I touched a statue, and a banister changed to a hundred writhing adders. Morrel pressed deeper into the house, but I had other plans.'

Terris Thule says 'I brought Cazic inside, rested my hand on his arm, and touched a statue. He fell into the nightmare you see now, never to awake. Morrel objected, but he was more interested in his augmented powers than my designs. And besides, since when have dreams alone held more power than nightmares? How would that weakling be able to challenge me?'

Terris Thule screams in pain and anger as a portal opens around her. 'Is this your doing, adventurers? You have no idea what magnitude of power you are playing with! Morrel, help me! Do not let them take our father!'

Terris Thule disappears and an ornate chest spawns nearby with loot.

The ring of fire also disappears, and Gallentin the Adventurer spawns nearby and offers a port out (say "leave"). Note: The port-out location in Fear Itself will put you in mob aggro range.
