This is a Tier 2 raid expedition that begins with the Spirit of Erud in Erudin Burning. He is located at about -340, 310 (in the area south of the dock area, along with several other quest NPCs).

Pre-requisites for requesting this raid:
- Completion of the "Tick Tock" and "Ritual of Terror" raids
- All five Erudin Burning partisan tasks
- Erudin Burning group mission "The Illuminating Truth"

Pre-requisites for participating in this raid:
- Completion of at least one of the Tier 1 raids ("Tick Tock"; "Ritual of Terror")

You say, 'Hail, Spirit of Erud'

Without pre-requisites:

Spirit of Erud says 'We are so far apart. Even this close I cannot make out your features. Weligon Steelherder will soon know you, and he can clarify your form.'

With pre-requisites:

Spirit of Erud says 'I have spoken with you before, yes? Did we speak of the Ritual of the Five Flames? I can see you with a torch in your hand, with darkness encroaching upon you. You hold the torch aloft; its light grows and repels the night, and it renders naked the twisted forms of fell demons. Did I merely [dream] such things? If this is too much for you, then there is another task you can [undertake] for me.'

You say, 'Maybe it was a dream...'

Spirit of Erud says 'So many things to me now appear as waking memories, shadows of nightmares forgotten. An invader steps through the tunnel, and a Deepwater knight slaughters it. The enemy pushes us back, but we rebuff our defenses and retake our ground. It has all happened before. Yes, I am certain of it: I have spoken to you. Perhaps it was only in a dream, or perhaps you truly stood before me as you do now. Real or imagined, I know we both seek the [truth].'

You say, 'What is the truth?'

Spirit of Erud says 'The enemy has already conquered. My library is burned, and my city is defaced. My dreams and waking visions are disturbed: I see myself captured by the heretics, and my entrails are ripped from my living body in front of my subjugated followers. Or all of my knights and I are driven back to the port and drowned in a roiling sea of blood and fire. Or in our last stand at the Port Authority, we are trapped within its walls and burned alive. How many times, and in how many ways, have I died? Who can tell me? Who is the keeper of this [knowledge]?'

You say, 'What knowledge?'

Spirit of Erud says 'There is the torch. In my visions it burns brightly. For as many times as my blood has been spilled across these stones, I remember a torch in my hand, held high, illuminating even the fires that ravage this city. In a way mysterious even to me, I know the torch is truth. It is no accident that we have recovered the Ritual of the Five Flames. With it, I will discover the truth of this [madness].'

You say, 'This madness?'

Spirit of Erud says 'What is real? From darkness I came to this place, my own city, and I recognize it not. My own people look as strangers to me, my library and citadel are ablaze, and disturbing visions pass across my eyes and lurk within my memory. When I sleep, do I dream, or do I pass into another existence? Can a man dream inside a dream, or does he dream himself into reality? The Torches of Truth will [tell] us.'

You say, 'What can they tell us?'

Spirit of Erud says 'It is almost enough for me to abandon all defenses. But I cannot allow my suppositions, if wrong, to doom my remaining followers. And already I fear there is a growing threat that could consume us: At night I have seen Lanken Rjarn, Ghanlin Skyfire, and Markus Jaevins [disappearing] into the heretic tunnel, followed by bands of Deepwater nights. They return in the early mornings, while most guards are asleep, without any marks upon them, as though somehow they have been exempted from battle with the enemy.'

You say, 'Disappearing into the tunnel?'

Spirit of Erud says 'I have known these men to be loyal. That they could turn traitorous is incredible. But in my visions I can see it: Hordes of the undead streaming through the tunnel, slaughtering my followers, and forcing us to flee to the port, with Lanken, Ghanlin, and Markus at the rear of the invading force, commanding the destruction. I cannot allow this to happen. I will be pulling our forces out of this chamber and barricading the entrance. I will seal the traitors inside and prepare for the Ritual of the Five Flames. If you can, gather your fellow adventurers and meet me at the entrance. Are you [willing] to discover the truth?'

You say, 'We are willing'

Spirit of Erud says 'Then I will see you at the port. [Go] there now and await me.'

The Torches of Truth is now available to you.

You say, 'Ready to go!'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Erudin Burning - The Torches of Truth.

Obtaining Torches & Triggering the Event

Four people need to obtain torches from the Spirit of Erud (say "torch"). Whoever wields a torch will be snared and 50% health for as long as it is in their possession.

For each of the three Erudite Guildmasters you encounter, all four people in possession of torches will have to move into close proximity of the guildmaster to make him killable (the guildmaster will change into a gargoyle, the form in which he's killable).

If any of the four torchbearers die or back out of proximity before the guildmaster is killed, the guildmaster changes back into an Erudite and becomes unattackable. All four must stay close to the NPC until the NPC is killed.

You say, 'Hail, Spirit of Erud'

Spirit of Erud says 'It is strange: As if I have done so a dozen times, I swiftly bound these torches, according to the Ritual. Merely holding one in my hand brings me hope and sharpens my vision. But I warn you: the magic of the torches is powerful. Mortals such as you will struggle to carry even one [torch]; your steps will be heavy, and your breathing constricted. I urge you to bear the burden together. If you grow weary of your charge, select a replacement and pass the torch along. Shall I [go on]?'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'I can hear the heretic forces amassing in the tunnel. It won't be long before they break through and assault our position. My challenge to you is twofold: You must repel the invaders and deliver these torches to my library. There we shall light them at the threshold of knowledge and reveal the truth to all of this madness. Four of them I will give to you now, and I will take up the rear with the fifth. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'My visions tell me Lanken, Ghanlin, and Markus have already turned traitorous. I cannot accept, though, that their appearance of guile is the truth. There is a darkness inside them that I sense; if you could get close enough to them, the light of the torches might reveal the true nature of their treachery. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Before their forces can reach this barricade, we should strike. When you have prepared, I will remove the barricade, and we shall assault the ranks of the enemies and traitors. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Gather around and determine who among you will be the first ones to bear the burden of the [torch].'

You say, 'Give me a torch'

Spirit of Erud says 'You are noble and brave to volunteer, torchbearer. Do not place it in your backpack while it is lit, or its magic will burn you severely. Hold it proudly in your hand and reveal the darkness that lurks around us! When four of you are in possession of a [torch], we will be [ready] to proceed.'

Phase One: Lanken Rjarn

After four people have obtained torches and you're ready, say "ready" to the Spirit of Erud to spawn the event.

You say, 'We are ready'

Spirit of Erud says 'Hark! What strange voice bellows from within the tunnel? Lanken Rjarn intends to slaughter us. We shall foil his intentions.'

Lanken Rjarn shouts, 'Erud, you fool, you liar! You claim to be a man of intellect and knowledge, but you reject as heresy the vast knowledge of necromancy! To live once more after death is the ultimate goal of any mortal, sentient creature. The heretics, as you call them, have discovered the key to life, but you reject them and label them as dangerous thinkers. Fool! I will show you the true power of the undead, and as a token of respect to you, a once-great man, I will animate your corpse when it lies sprawled before me!'

Inside the tunnel are three sets of skeletons (four skeletons in each set). All of them are permanently rooted. Lanken Rjarn is among the third set at the end of the tunnel.

In addition to those 13 static spawns, you'll get 1x "a skeleton tunneler" about every minute as long as this phase is active. Unlike the other mobs in this phase, the tunnelers are not perma-rooted and will auto-aggro on anyone in the area.

The skeletons hit for a max ~14,000 and summon once damaged. The scrappers, fighters, and tunnelers don't cast any spells. The mages AE "Heavy Viscosity":

Heavy Viscosity: PB AE 85', Disease (-670)
1: Decrease Movement by 200%
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 3000 per tick
3: Increase Curse Counter by 15

Lanken Rjarn hits for a max ~18,000 and casts "Cutback", "Tunnel Fire", "Tunnel Magma", "Slow Burn", "Forceful Expulsion", and "Earth Skin":

Earth Skin: Self 0', Unresistable (-670)
1: Mitigate Melee Damage by 50%, 500000 total
2: Mitigate Spell Damage by 50%, 500000 total

Cutback: Single Target, Magic (-670)
1: Unknown #408 (100/25/0)

Forceful Expulsion: Single Target, Unresistable (-670)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 20000
2: Slow Push (350)

Slow Burn: Single Target, Fire (-670)
1: Slow Push (120)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 9000 per tick

Tunnel Fire: PB AE 100', Fire (-670)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 12000 per tick
2: Decrease HP when cast by 20000

Tunnel Magma: PB AE 100', Fire (-670)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 35000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 12000 per tick

Lanken Rjarn has been slain by _____!

Once the mobs in this phase are dead, you can rest and recover. There is no known time limit for triggering the next phase (other than the standard several hours an expedition stays open). If you wipe out in the next phase, the event resets back to this point.

Phase Two: Ghanlin Skyfire

Say "ready" to the Spirit of Erud to spawn the next phase.

You say, 'Hail, Spirit of Erud'

Spirit of Erud says 'It is as I thought: Lanken's betrayal was a lie. But the demon you defeated was not spawned by any heretic or any magic with which I am familiar. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'We cannot take as truth anything we see here. Some force is at work, clouding my visions, deceiving my eyes. I knew it was not possible for Lanken to fall under the control of the heretics. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'To my citizens I did not teach ignorance or fear of any knowledge. What I did teach was prudence of action. To know and to do are two different matters. My citizens have knowledge of necromancy, but they know enough of its dangers to reject its practice. The heretics have not the wisdom to abstain. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Lanken Rjarn would never have embraced a heretical disregard for the safety of our lives and city, and I suspect it is the same for the other guild masters. Be cautious as you proceed. I think the light of the torches will be needed to further illuminate the truth of our adversaries. Are you [ready] to proceed?'

You say, 'Ready!'

Spirit of Erud says 'Could this truly be the voice of Ghanlin Skyfire I hear?'

Ghanlin Skyfire shouts, 'Have you come to challenge me, Erud? By what means will you do so? Surely your knowledge cannot save you. Your mind only knows what you have seen or heard or felt. You are bound by your senses, and if you cannot trust them, your knowledge is a lie. Do you know how many times I have killed you? What do your senses tell you? In the basement of the Port Authority, I slipped a knife into your back; in the center of the meditation chamber, I claimed your head with my saber; and I hung you in a noose from the roof of your own library. How, then, do you stand here and defy me? Do I lie, or does your knowledge?'

After triggering this phase, Ghanlin Skyfire appears in the area outside the tunnel. In this area are three portal pads: One at the top of the steps; one to the east; and one below the steps to the south. Ghanlin will roam to a random portal. Which adds you get in this phase depend on which portal he goes to:

The portal at the top of the steps spawns 1x "a corpse hulk" (max hit ~17,000) about every minute. The portal to the east spawns 1x "a skeleton bruiser" (max hit ~15,000) about every 30 seconds. The portal to the south spawns 2x "an animated warrior" (max hit ~14,000) about every 45 seconds. None of the adds have any known AEs.

NOTE: You can avoid these add spawns by having the four torchbearers stand in the vicinity of the appropriate portal. The catch is you also have to position Ghanlin Skyfire in the same location so that he stays killable.

Ghanlin Skyfire himself hits for a max ~18,000 and casts "Immovable Sky", "Hurricane Gutslash", "Shimmering Gutslash", "Hands of the Wind", and "Scattered Comets":

Hands of the Wind: Self 0', Unresistable (-670)
1: Increase ATK by 2000
3: Increase Attack Speed by 100%

Hurricane Gutslash: PB AE 65', (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 20000

Immovable Sky: Single Target, Magic (-670)
1: Stun (10.00 sec/110)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 7500 per tick

Scattered Comets: PB AE 100', Magic (-670)
1: Knockback (5) and Toss Up (3)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 45000

Shimmering Gutslash: Single Target, (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 7000

Ghanlin Skyfire has been slain by _____!

Once the mobs in this phase are dead, you can rest and recover. There is no known time limit for triggering the next phase. If you wipe out in the next phase, the event resets back to this point.

Phase Three: Markus Jaevins

Say "ready" to the Spirit of Erud to spawn the next phase.

You say, 'Hail, Spirit of Erud'

Spirit of Erud says 'There can be no doubt about what the torches have revealed: These are not the guild masters. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Knowledge comes not only from the senses, which can be tricked, but from the mind itself. Our senses alone do not deliver to us the laws of architecture, alchemy, and magic; no, it is only by weighing the merits and intrinsic logic of these observations that we arrive at true knowledge. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Though my senses and memories have clouded and darkened, though I can almost taste Ghanlin's steel jutting through my ribs or biting my neck, the torches secure my knowledge. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'There is a sinister force behind all of this: behind the city's destruction, my disturbing visions, the endless suffering. Come, at the library we will discover the truth. And I suspect we will find Markus Jaevins. Are you [ready]?'

You say, 'Ready!'

Spirit of Erud says 'Markus Jaevins taunts us!'

Markus Jaevins shouts, 'Erud, why are you here? Flame has gutted the city you built; your books are cinders; your citizens are piles of bones. You have founded a graveyard, and yet you reject those who would be caretakers of your miserable progeny. The Deepwater knights who have rebelled with me know the truth: The heretics are the true inheritors of all you have built. Come, grovel before us in the ashes of your arrogance!'

Markus Jaevins spawns near the library and proceeds to roam around the perimeter of the library. As he does this, numerous adds join him. The adds are a mix of "a heretic fellblade", "an animated defender", and "a Deepwater traitor". None of these mobs are attackable, nor do they attack back. They do, however, cast several AEs which you'll be hit with if you get near them.

The animated defenders cast "Zombie Slash":

Zombie Slash: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 5500

The Deepwater traitors cast "Traitor's Vengeance":

Traitor's Vengeance: PB AE 35', Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 9200

The heretic fellblades cast "Blood Explosion" and "Diseased Constriction":

Blood Explosion: PB AE 35', Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 9100 per tick

Diseased Constriction: Single Target, Disease (-670)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 7000 per tick
2: Decrease All Resists by 1000

Markus Jaevins casts "Display of Power", "Governance of Steel", "Incarceration", and "Writ of Silence":

Display of Power: PB AE 600', Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 22000 per tick

Governance of Steel: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

Incarceration: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Stun (6.00 sec)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 12000 per tick

Writ of Silence: PB AE 100', Corruption (-10)
1: Silence

The only way these mobs become killable is if the four torchbearers move into their proximity. The adds, when made killable, turn black and begin attacking. Once they've changed over, they don't change back (the torchbearers can move away from them).

With Markus Jaevins, the four torchbearers have to remain in his proximity in order to keep him in his killable state.

NOTE: A timer may start once the last add dies. You only have so long to kill Markus Jaevins before the adds start respawning.

Markus Jaevins has been slain by _____!

Once the mobs in this phase are dead, you can rest and recover. There is no known time limit for triggering the next phase. If you wipe out on Terris Thule, the event resets back to this point.

Terris Thule: Triggering the Event

The four torchbearers need to move to the roof of the library where they'll need to stay for the duration of the event. They should be in position before you spawn the event.

Speak to the Spirit of Erud to spawn the final phase. NOTE: Once you trigger it, you have about 75 seconds before Terris Thule engages you.

You say, 'Hail, Spirit of Erud'

Spirit of Erud says 'The guild masters and knights never rebelled. Their forms and words were lies. Somehow, even without these torches, I knew it to be true. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'In the heart of my city I built the library. Years of careful study and thought I recorded in the tomes and volumes stacked on its shelves. Into these books I imprinted the very strokes and lineaments composing my mind. And in these pages, I will never die. Generations upon generations, as the city expands and stretches along the shore, as buildings rise up and divide the streets, the descendents of my teachings will come to me, their father, and learn from my eternal words. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'Some will forsake me, as the heretics have, but there will always be those like Lanken Rjarn, Ghanlin Skyfire, and Markus Jaevins who will cleave to my teachings and despise not the proper path of knowledge. And what of the deceptions we have witnessed, of my clouded visions and veiled memories? Let us complete the Ritual of the Five Flames, and all will be revealed. [Go on]'

You say, 'Go on'

Spirit of Erud says 'I will light my torch. Proceed to the roof of the library, torchbearers. There the ritual shall be completed. Let us see who or what is behind this nightmare!'

Terris Thule appears on the roof.

Terris Thule says 'Erud is a fool -- intelligent, but a fool nonetheless! Have you ever heard of the Ritual of the Five Flames before Erud began babbling about it? Neither had Erud before he arrived in this place. The ritual does not exist, and it reveals nothing but the absolute control which I exert over this pathetic mortal!'

Terris Thule says 'How amusing it has been to watch him bumbling about, struggling to make sense of what is happening around him. An ancient soul, trapped in a dream from which he cannot wake -- he sees his city, filled with faces he has never known and cannot possibly remember; he sees his library and all his works destroyed by the very descendents of his own knowledge and philosophies; and he sees, over and over again, his followers, his city, and his own body mutilated in cruel ways.'

Terris Thule says 'I knew that, after a while, he would not believe any of it, so I created the Ritual of the Five Flames. I created what his mind sought: a way to learn the truth of his perceptions, a way to know if this were all a nightmare. And where has this knowledge led him? Right into my hands!'

Terris Thule says 'This is not the first time he has discovered me. I am always here, waiting for him. Last time, he even managed to cast a few spells on me. But I have begun to tire of him. Every time I cloud his memory, it takes him even longer to find me. Now that you are here, though, perhaps you can amuse me. And there is only one rule to this game: stay on the roof, torchbearers! If I see you on the ground, I will punish you! Clutch your torches tightly, and pray you awaken soon from this nightmare!'

Shortly after the above emote, Terris Thule appears down below in a random location.

Terris Thule: Spawn Locations & Porting

As you fight Terris Thule, she'll port herself around the area. There are five fight locations:

- The ruins to the northwest of the library
- The ruins to the southwest of the library
- The area immediately south of the library
- The stairway to the south of the library
- The balcony of the building east of the library

For a map of these locations, click here.

The location at which she first appears is random. Subsequent port locations are mostly random, except she'll always appear in the area immediately south of the library at least three times during the encounter.

She only stays at the northwest ruins, southwest ruins, balcony, and stairway for about a minute before porting to a new location. When she appears in the area immediately south of the library, she stays there a little longer (whether the next time she ports is based on a timer or her health, is unclear).

Terris Thule and Her Abilities

Terris Thule hits for a max ~22,000; flurries; and occasionally AE rampages.

Each time she ports to a new location, she buffs herself with "Veil of Dreams":

Veil of Dreams: Self 0', Unresistable (-670)
1: Increase Absorb Damage by 1000000
2: Increase Absorb Magic Damage by 1000000

She also casts "Subconscious Flame", "Neverending Sleep", "Strike of Slumber", "Closing Eyes", and "Dream of Falling"; and occasionally buffs herself with "Rapid Movement":

Rapid Movement: Self 0', Unresistable (-670)
1: Increase ATK by 200
2: Flurry Chance (70)
3: Increase Attack Speed by 200%

Closing Eyes: Single Target, Magic (-670)
1: Blindness (1)
2: Unknown #409 (100/75/0)
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 14000 per tick
4: Increase corruption counter by 30

Dream of Falling: PB AE 45', (-10)
1: Knockback (6) and Toss Up (3)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000

Neverending Sleep: Single Target, Magic (-670)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 13500 per tick

Subconscious Flame: PB AE 200', Fire (-670)
1: Inhibit Melee Attacks by (50%)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 15000 per tick

Whenever she's in the area immediately south of the library, she AEs "Negation" (single-slot dispell) on everyone around her as well as the emote-based "Abrupt Awakening" (multi-slot dispell). She only casts these two spells in that particular location.

Abrupt Awakening: Single Target, Corruption (-10)
1: Fading Memories
2: Fading Memories
3: Fading Memories
4: Fading Memories
5: Fading Memories
6: Fading Memories
7: Fading Memories

Negation: Single Target, Magic (-670)
1: Fading Memories

This is the emote that precedes "Abrupt Awakening" by 10 seconds:

Terris Thule says 'Back away, adventurers, or you shall be punished!'

She also seems to be buffed with "Servant's Loyalty" when she ports to the area immediately south of the library:

Servant's Loyalty (90-second duration)
1: Mitigate Melee Damage by 65%, 3000000 total
2: Mitigate Spell Damage by 65%, 3000000 total

Terris Thule: The Adds

There is a set of adds associated with each of her fight locations.

When she appears in the northwest ruins, she spawns about 4-5 mobs called "a nightmare treant" (hit for a max ~13,000; immune to stun and mez, but susceptible to root/snare). These treants cast "Burning Woods":

Burning Woods: Single Target, Fire (-670)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000

When she appears in the southwest ruins, she spawns a mob called "a nightmare bat" (hit for a max ???; susceptible to root/snare). These bats cast "Gargoyles' Might" (this is not a typo):

Gargoyles' Might: Single Target, Corruption (-670)
1: Knockback (6) and Toss Up (3)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 9100

When she appears on the balcony to the east, she spawns 4-5 mobs called "a nightmare goblin" (hit for a max ~13,000; immune to stun and mez, but susceptible to root/snare). These goblins cast "Nightmare Nudge":

Nightmare Nudge: Single Target, (-670)
1: Slow Push (100) (2 ticks)

When she appears at the stairway to the south, she spawns about 4-5 mobs called "a nightmare gargoyle" (hit for a max ~13,000; single-target rampages; immune to stun and mez, but susceptible to root/snare). These gargoyles also cast "Gargoyles' Might" as listed above.

For the above four add types, only a certain amount of adds can be live at one time. For instance, if there are already 4-5 treants up, she won't spawn any more treants the next time she ports to the northwest ruins.

When Terris Thule appears in the area immediately south of the library, she spawns two mobs called "Bone Servant" (hit for a max ~16,000; no other abilities; immune to all forms of crowd control). Later in the fight, she'll spawn 2x "Mounted Bone Servant" here instead (there is no known difference between the two types, other than their appearance).

The Torchbearers

The four torchbearers must stay on the roof for the duration of the event. Over the course of the encounter, they'll be ported off the roof to random locations. They'll have 85 seconds to return (Terris will give you a countdown):

Terris Thule says 'Torchbearers, you must return to the roof within 85 seconds...'
Terris Thule says 'Torchbearers, you must return to the roof within 80 seconds...'
Terris Thule says 'Torchbearers, you must return to the roof within 75 seconds...'

Event Fail

If Terris Thule is left idle for too long or the torchbearers fail to return to the roof within the allotted timeframe, the spell "Elimination of Nightmares" is cast on everyone in the zone:

Elimination of Nightmares: PB AE 20000', Unresistable (-670)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 500000 per tick

Terris Thule says 'Your nightmare has come to an end!'

Terris Thule ensures you'll never dream again.

Event Completion

After Terris Thule reaches 10% health, she ports up to the roof of the library. All adds despawn at this point and new adds called "a nightmare skeleton" begin spawning one after the other, until Terris Thule dies. She continues her "Abrupt Awakening" and "Negation" AEs up here.

Terris Thule has been slain by _____!

Terris Thule says 'I...am surprised at your power! For mortals to defy me in my own element...can it be possible? But this is not your dream...you are but interlopers in the slumber of erudites across Norrath. I cannot manipulate you as easily as I can Erud.'

Terris Thule says 'His knowledge and words dwell within the minds of all erudites, so although he is long dead, his spirit lives. And in this dream, he once again walks among his people, confused and dismayed by the destruction he sees. Every time I kill him or alter his memories, he descends further into madness, and the tastes of truth I give him are all the more frustrating.'

Terris Thule says 'Why would I do such a thing? As his spirit weakens, as the spirits of all erudites weaken, I grow in power. As his madness grows, so does my strength. There is nothing you should fear more than a nightmare from which you cannot wake.'

Terris Thule says 'But I did not anticipate your arrival...or your strength. I leave to you Erud and his fading knowledge and confused memories. Do with him what you will. It is of no ultimate consequence anyhow; for although you may have discovered me, you will never find Morell.'

An ornate chest spawns with loot on the north side of the library.
