This task is the first in a series of five that begins with Abbit Scribbletch, a gnome found in the first room on the left immediately on entering the northeastern wing of the House of Thule's Upper Floors.

    You say, 'Hail, Abbit Scribbletch'

Abbit Scribbletch says 'I cannot believe this has [happened]. I should know better than to trust a source with whom I do not normally deal with. But I was so close!'

    You say, 'What happened?'

Abbit Scribbletch says 'I am a collector, of many things, but books are my main passion. I was so close, or so I thought, to finding the lost memoirs of the [Morzad] leader Argan. '

You say, 'Who are the Morzad?'

Abbit Scribbletch says 'It makes sense that you've never heard of the Morzad. They were an underground group of explorers and archeologists who sought powerful relics in order to gain more power for themselves. No one really knew to what end. The Morzad were thought to have vanished after [Argan] was killed by Cazic Thule himself.'

    You say, 'Who's Argan?'

Abbit Scribbletch says 'I was getting to that! Argan made note of every relic the Morzad ever found and kept in a book along with its location. The book has come to be known as Argan's Memoir. This is why I am here. I thought I had good information that the book was here, but as soon as I arrived, I have been plagued by attackers. I am a collector, not a combatant! And now I am stuck here it seems. Will you [help] me?'

    You say, 'I'll help you'

Abbit Scribbletch says 'Excellent! I was to meet someone named Keega here. You must find him and talk to him in my stead. But you must hurry. I am sure he has been waiting for me, but I have been unable to move. '

You have been assigned the task 'Morzad Chronicle - Argan's Memoir'.

Abbit Scribbletch is stuck here while looking for Argan's Memoir. He has asked for your help in meeting the one who knows where the book can be found.

Speak to Keega 0/1 (House of Thule, Upper Floors)

Keega is an Erudite found in the first hall of the northwestern wing.

    You say, 'Hail, Keega'

Keega says 'You are not [Abbit]!'

    You say, 'Abbit sent me...'

Keega says 'Very well... The book he seeks is being held by an imp who calls himself Khalis. He is especially annoying. But it shouldn't take much to get the book from him. He seems to not know, or care, what it is.'

Kill 2 protective imps 0/2 (House of Thule, Upper Floors)

To get to Khalis and his protective imps, keep going through the northwestern wing until you come to the rotdog room. From there, go south and through that hall to Khalis' room.

Note: The protective imps used to be triggered spawns by hailing Keega. A patch changed them to regular spawns, so they'll always be up next to Khalis (unless someone's very recently killed them).

Khalis is not aggro, but the imps are as well as a number of undead in the room. They each hit for a max ~6,500.

a protective imp says 'I will pry those pretty little eyes from your skull and feast like a king upon your every fleshy nerve!'

a protective imp has been slain by _____!
a protective imp's corpse says 'Oops! Back to The Faceless I go. I'll be back, and your eyes will be mine!'

Speak to Khalis 0/1 (House of Thule, Upper Floors)

    You say, 'Hail, Khalis'

Khalis says 'What have we here? How do I know? Quiet, let me talk! What book? You know what book! Ah, that book! I will give you the book. But first, you must answer something for me. What can burn but is not fire, and has a way of destroying rationality? '

Answer Khalis' riddle 0/1 (House of Thule, Upper Floors)

    You say, 'Hate'

Khalis says 'Correct! I don't get it? Hush! It was too easy! You have answered correctly, so here is the book.'

    You receive Argan's Memoir.

Deliver Argan's Memoir to Abbit Scribbletch 0/1 (House of Thule, Upper Floors)

    On hand-in:

Your task 'Morzad Chronicle - Argan's Memoir' has been updated.

Abbit Scribbletch says 'I cannot believe you retrieved it, and so easily! Thank you.'

You have found the book that in which Abbit was looking.

Completed this recently as a 90/1400 Wiz (me) + J5 tank merc and an 88/550ish Mage + J5 cleric merc. We've duoed most of the prequests for HoT progression thus far; this was the hardest without question.

The biggest problem is there is simply no safe spot to camp. We ended up using the hallway that leads into Keega's room, but even doing that required clearing three mobs, one of which roams. Had to get pretty creative...

Mage sat at ZL, since there was nowhere else safe for him to work. I rooted the wandering mob in Keega's room, and we timed CoH so I got summoned almost immediately after root hit. We then both ran back to the hallway and killed the two static spawns; fortunately root held through this. Waited for root to break then, and the roamer came right to us.

There's a mob straight ahead when you open the door to Keega's room. We were able to single pull that without issue. Also, the mob in the right corner (SE I think) can be singled, IF the imps are sitting on their spawn points. If you've already moved them and they're out of position, they will aggro.

Then it got really interesting. Mage ran back to ZL. I went in room and rooted the mob behind Keega and the imps. CoH. I ran back and pulled the imps, got CoH'd again. Ran back. Rooted the imp that had run the furthest out of the room. CoH. Ran back. Confirmed I was able to get that imp single, pulled it, rooted it, Mage ran to me and we killed it.

That left one imp and the mob behind Keega. I rooted that mob again. Mage and I killed the second imp in the corner of Keega's room, then killed the remaining mob (the rooted one) on that side of the room. Hailed, went through dialog, done. Note you cannot hail Keega unless both imps are down; the task steps make it appear you just have to kill two, but while that step will update if for instance you kill one imp and it respawns, you won't be able to hail.

Respawn time for the zone is approximately 20 minutes (Imps are faster), so it was an awful lot to do in a short period of time. Took us a few tries but we wanted to get it done ourselves and it was pretty satisfying to be able to do so. Unfortunately it looks like most of the HoT Upper prequests are going to be this convoluted.

The imps and the other mobs in the room are social. you'll have to clear, split pull or use CC to get em. the Imps are always up.

We had 4 in the group that needed the task. As of 01/18/11 3 of the 4 players hailed and we moved to the imps. I was expecting 6 imps but there were only two. They did not despawn for quite a while and we even had 2 partial wipes before we got to them. One the 2 were killed all 3 could complete the task. We sent the one guy back to hail the quest giver, and on that hail only one imp spawned. He tried to hail to get the 2nd imp, but no such luck, so we engaged the 1 imp that was up and then the 2nd spawned when the first was half dead.

If your doing this with a group of people that need have everyone hail Keega then move to Khalis. Wait for all imps to despawn and then have someone drop and reget the quest. That way you only have to deal with 2 imps instead of the number of people doing it.
