    The fifth monk headband quest.

    You say, 'Hail, Togahn Sorast'

Togahn Sorast says 'Greetings.. I am Second Master Togahn Sorast. I am here to teach the ways of our guild. For our more advanced members, I will give out [headbands] as a reward for their contribution to the clan.'

    You say, 'What headbands?'

Togahn Sorast says 'The Silent Fist Clan gives out colored headbands for various deeds completed by our students. [Phin] gives out the [white, yellow, and orange headbands].. and I give out the [red, purple, and blue headbands].'

    You say, 'What purple headband?'

Togahn Sorast says 'Ah, you think you are now skilled enough to deserve the purple headband of the Silent Fist Clan? Very well, ______, I have a task for you that will prove whether or not you are worthy of this honor. I have heard recent rumors of ancient evils surfacing once again throughout Antonica. These evil groups have discovered some items that are giving them mystical and dangerous powers. These items must be destroyed, or else the evils of Norrath may gain control of the world's future. Bring me these [evil items], and turn in your red headband, and you will have proven yourself a mighty spirit and dedicated member of the Silent Fist.'

    You say, 'What evil items?'

Togahn Sorast says 'These evil creations have been found all over Antonica, and no one knows, or at least no one admits to knowing, where exactly they were found, but we do know that they are currently in the wrong hands and must be destroyed. Please, ______, seek out the [Skull of Jhen'Tra], the [Dagger of Marnek], and the [Coronet of Buried Blood], and bring them to me.'

You say, 'What about the Skull of Jhen'Tra?'

Togahn Sorast says 'I don't know much about the Skull of Jhen'Tra. I've heard that it has resurfaced in the gnoll burial grounds of Lake Rathetear. Apparently, this skull is helping to give these gnolls the power to raise an undead army of their fallen ancestors. This evil must be stopped before their army becomes too powerful.'

You say, 'What about the Dagger of Marnek?'

Togahn Sorast says 'The Dagger of Marnek is a diabolical weapon created by the ancient necromancer Marnek Jaull. Marnek was the leader of a small cult of necromancers who worshipped Solusek Ro. Marnek used this dagger in his ceremonial sacrifices to the Burning Prince, to increase his own power and show his loyalty to his god. His cult grew stronger and word of the evil acts spread all over Antonica. Legend has it that a group of paladins from Erudin, followers of Prexus, spent over 10 years searching out Marnek and his followers, and finally destroyed them. Though Marnek's evil reign was put to an end, many of his books and items are still being uncovered to this day. The Dagger of Marnek is now being used by the evil inhabitants who control the depths of Befallen. Bring this dagger to me, so that we may dispose of it and banish its evil powers forever.'

You say, 'What about the Coronet of Buried Blood?'

Togahn Sorast says 'The Coronet of Buried Blood is an ancient headdress which is said to have belonged to the High Priest of the Plexant Temple. The Plexant were known to be devout followers of Innoruuk and the coronet is supposed to have been blessed by the Prince of Hate himself. Apparently, the coronet is now in the hands of a clan of goblins that dwell in the caverns of Permafrost.'

Skull of Jhen'Tra drops from a gnoll embalmer in Lake Rathetear.
Marnek's Dagger drops from the thaumaturgist in the third level of Befallen (behind the secret door).
The "Coronet of Buried Blood" is the Zaharn's Coronet which drops from High Priest Zaharn in the Permafrost throne room.

Bring these three items to Togahn along with your red headband. In return you will receive the purple headband.

Togahn Sorast says 'Good work, _________, your task is almost completed.'
Togahn Sorast says 'Good work, _________, your task is almost completed.'
Togahn Sorast says 'Good work, _________, your task is almost completed.'
Togahn Sorast says 'In honor of your recent acts of courage and dedication, I reward you, __________, with the purple headband of the Silent Fist Clan.'

Still works with a level 1 human monk

Posting to confirm that this is still able to turned in with a level one Human Monk (Agnostic). Definitely the fastest way to get this part of the epic done for Iksar Monks on TLP servers, unless you're able to kill Bro Z or Q and find them up with the robe.

As for faction, the only other quest I did beside the headbands on the level 1 was Tomer's Rescue (+35). It probably wasn't necessary, but it was extremely quick so I did it just in case.

    Permafrost
    # Sep 24 2003 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
Just finished the Permafrost portion of this quest and found that the pop timer on High Priest Zaharn was almost 2 hours on the nose as we started the camp. I've put off most of my mid-level headband and sash quests until recently so this camp was easy for me at 41 and a shammy partner 42. Word to the wise, don't let any of the goblins run to the back of the kings room as they will aggro the very mean and tough Ice Giant Diplomat. FD won't help you here since he casts several spells at you before getting within melee range.

When I turned in the Dagger of Marnek, Skull of Jhen'Tra, Zaharn's Coronet and my red headband I noticed that I was given my purple headband but the red was not returned.

here is what i did. I made a n00bie monk in qeynos, lvl'd him to 3, BOUGHT , yes bought 3 stacks of gnoll pup scalps from a vendor in north, cost about 2.5 pp, and quested the white headband and destroyed it 15 times., got to amiable, then got the rest in the shared bank vault with my main monk, got to warmly questing them all.
I heard some peep saying the purple items were eaten because of faction, so i posted my success. Got the purple wioth a lvl 3 w/ no gear so it can be done.
If you are on karana and want me to quest it- contact Rriptor or Gnnny, and ill help u out.

For all the pople who haven't completed epic quest. Get someone (a guild mate), to kill one of the trainers in FP (lvl 40 yellow to me) to get the red sash of order. To get the purple headhand to have to actually complete the quest for it. It starts in Qeynos. You can actually loot the robe of the lost ircle of a NPC, brother something or another. Will repost when i have details.

These quests aren't so bad, but by the time I decided to do them, everything was green to me, so I decided to buy the drops.

Skull was 20p, Zaharn's Coronet was 140p, and Dagger of Marnek was 250p. Not bad to get around 2 or 3 hours of slaughtering greens...after the red headband I was more than sick of that.

EDIT: realized I forgot to mention, I found all items for sale in the bazaar on 7th Hammer. The dagger of Marnekl seems to be the one that you might have to get yourself...I've seen dozens of Zaharn's Coronets and Skulls on merchents and traders, but haven't really seen that many Daggers of Marnek.

    headband vs Sash quests
    # May 21 2002 at 9:32 AM Rating: Decent
Im currently doing these quests with my Druid for my monk, and is it just me or are the sash quests easy as hell compared to the headbands? In the time it took me to get the stupid putrid rib bones for the second headband,i was able to basically do the whole sash series in about the same amount of time. Now for this headband. The embalmer was easy(at least for my level) and not very hard to get to spawn.I had 3 of them spawn at once, and two skulls dropped out of those 3.Next i tried the dagger of marnek, but could never get the thaumateurgist to spawn, and when she finally did all she had was her crappy robe.So i skipped the dagger and decided to try the coronet.Luckily for me, a necro had just finished camping the kings room,so it was already broken. It was relatively easy, just sat in the corner and killed them as they spawned. The king never spawned, and the only tough mob was the goblin patriach, because he chain heals himself. After a few hours High priest Zaharn spawned, and dropped his coronet. At this point im still camping the thaumateurgist with befallens agonizing long respawn times.hopefully it will drop soon. :(

    # Jun 04 2002 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
It may be super easy for a druid in the 40's to do the sash quests, but realize that the quests were intended for monks of a much lower level. Yeah, you can easily buy a lot of the items required for the lower level sash quests, but try actually going out there at the appropriate level and getting them to drop off mobs because you're a lowbie and can't afford 'em. Yeah, the only sash quest that needs items that only drop off a single mob, but look at where those mobs are and what level you're supposed to be when you take them on. I tried the Befallen part of the red sash quest (the wand) in the low-to-mid-twenties with a shaman partner, and we both very nearly got killed before we even got to the right room; we had to beg a high-lvl guildie to come down and port us out when we were done (after 2-3 spawns of the mob we wanted to kill as well as several PHs before each spawn). At lvl 27, I don't even want to think about going after that sapphire in Najena; yeah, sure, if I had a buddy or two I could probably kills the mob that drops it, but there's no way we could take on the roomful of aggressive lvl 28 mobs we'd have to get through to get to the guy we wanted. The headbands have been challenging, yes, but no more so than the sashes. If you let your monk do her/his own quests, you might find the headbands a little less frustrating; at least then you'd be getting xp while you camp instead of just sitting around twiddling your thumbs.

I agree that the headband quests may be less bothersome if you are getting exp at the same time, but even so, the items needed for the headbands (especially the yellow and orange) are much rarer to get than the ones needed for their sash counterparts. I have killed many putrid skeletons, and have yet to get just one rib bone.
    Confusion Reigns...

So...let me ask a question here...In order to complete the quest for robe you HAVE to have the red SASH and the purple HEADBAND BOTH? I have red sash as we speak...but now I have to travel to Qeynos and do the Headband quests there also? Maybe one day my head will stop spinning round from all this ... Slapp 30 monk

i can't wait to finish these headband and sash quest, after all the efforts i put in them look at the crappy stuff i get, sure it some stats, but i better like my wu headband, at 27 i do these quest only to have my epic one day, the only reason why i do them, just look at it the only headbands i wore were the first two because i had nothing at the time, and i never even bothered to wear the sash since i started in qeynos.

ok i have a problem. To get the purple headband, i know u turn in the skull of jhentra, dagger of marnek, and zaherns coronet. Do you have to give those 3 things and a red headband too? And if so, where do you get a red headband, not the red sash of order from freeport but just the red headband?
    RE: red headband
    # May 09 2001 at 2:42 PM Rating: Default
you need to do the red headband quest out of qeynos' monk guild
You do not need to be anywhere near lvl 30 to get this.

Myself(level 20 druid at the time) and a level 22 druid both got skull and lost no life and had over half mana each after the fight.

    Embalmer is pretty easy.

Well lets look at your post first:

    [Quote]
Myself(level 20 druid at the time) and a level 22 druid
    [End Quote]

You see in your post *druid* is the key word. This is for a *monk* quest. A monk would probably would not have to in his/her 30's to do this, but a priest partner at lvl 20-25 is probably a smart idea (or a really good mend skill).

Ahh but you need a 30's group (at least) to get the coronet.

Your claim is valid, but you are still missing the point, I think. The Coronet, which is supposedly a Shaman/Druid/Cleric item, is also one part of a MONK quest for a MONK-ONLY item, and designed to be completed by someone about +/- 30 level. A 40 mage and 49 warrior do make a relatively potent team together -- one that is certainly capable of taking Zaharn down -- but neither of them can use either the Coronet or the Purple Headband.

If you are snagging the Coronet for a twink, I could see going after it, but some of us play on the FV server, where twinking alts just ain't happening. On that server, anyway, I'd rather go in after Zaharn with a group composed of the appropriate levels and classes to benefit from taking him out.
