    This is a group progression task that begins with Researcher Breoro in the lower floors of the House of Thule (just inside the front door). The task locks after killing the last mini-boss, regardless of order.

    You must have completed his four solo tasks prior to being able to request this one.

    You say, 'Hail, Researcher Breoro'

    Researcher Breoro says 'Now that all of the potions have been brewed, it is time to take on the beasts themselves. This will be no easy [task]. Or, just in case, you can retrieve more ingredients for me, so I can brew another [potion of rot], [potion of rage], [potion of horror], or [potion of the unknown].'

    You say, 'What task?'

    Researcher Breoro says 'Once I drink these potions, you will be able to enter my nightmare and destroy the beasts. Each beast has three protectors that will need to be defeated before the beasts themselves can be confronted. When you are [ready], I will drink the potions.'

    You say, 'We're ready'

    Researcher Breoro says 'I have consumed the potions and can already begin to feel their effect on me. Please let me know when you are ready to [go], and you will be able to enter my nightmare and hopefully end this once and for all.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Welcome to My Nightmare'.

    Defeat the necromancers guarding the Beasts of Rot, Horror, Rage, and the Unknown. Once you have accomplished this, speak with Researcher Breoro.

    You say, 'Let's go'

    Researcher Breoro says 'May the Gods be with you.'

    LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
    You have entered House of Thule: Breoro's Nightmare.

    The first task steps open are all the "Destroy Keeper..." steps. These Keepers are found in groups of three in the same locations where you'd find the "beastling" mobs in the non-instanced zone.

    Killing each group of Keepers spawns the Beast associated with them. The Beasts spawn right on top of the corpse of the last Keeper to die in each set.

    Keepers hit for a max ~6,000 and are stunnable, rootable/snareable, mezzable, and able to be harmonized.

    The Beasts hit for a max ~8,500, enrage, have more hitpoints, and are immune to crowd control methods. They also each come with an AE debuff (listed below). These debuffs are triggered by using same-resist spells against them (The Beast of Rot's debuff, for example, would be triggered by any disease-based spell used against it).

    The Researcher at the end hits for a max ~8,000 and also has a lot of hitpoints.

    Destroy Keeper Bianoa 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Dalmari 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Polyai 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy the Beast of Rot 0/1 (House of Thule)

    The Beast of Rot senses that you would make a good meal and closes in for the attack!

    Curse of Rot: PB AE 400', Unresistable (0)
    1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 20%
    2: Limit: Resist (Disease allowed)
    3: Increase Disease Counter by 50

    1: Decrease HP when cast by 23000
    2: Decrease Hitpoints by 6000 per tick
    3: Increase Disease Counter by 40

    Destroy Keeper Viljan 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Eteran 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Cilkian 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy the Beast of the Unknown 0/1 (House of Thule)

    The Beast of the Unknown swiftly approaches.

    Curse of Fire: PB AE 400', Unresistable (0)
    1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 20%
    2: Limit: Resist (Fire allowed)
    3: Increase Curse Counter by 50

    Destroy Keeper Barja 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Nujoi 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy the Beast of Horror 0/1 (House of Thule)

    The Beast of Horror skitters towards you, eager to end your life.

    Curse of Poison: PB AE 400', Unresistable (0)
    1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 20%
    2: Limit: Resist (Poison allowed)
    3: Increase Poison Counter by 50

    Nightmarish Venom: Single Target, Poison (-700)
    1: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 per tick
    2: Decrease Mana by 5000 per tick
    3: Decrease Endurance by 800 per tick

    Destroy Keeper Tyoan 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Zilkan 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy Keeper Moian 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Destroy the Beast of Rage 0/1 (House of Thule)

    The Beast of Rage becomes enraged and rushes to the attack!

    Curse of Frost: PB AE 400', Unresistable (0)
    1: Increase Incoming Spell Damage by 20%
    2: Limit: Resist (Cold allowed)
    3: Increase Curse Counter by 50

    Icy Blow: Single Target, Cold (-700)
    1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000
    2: Stun (5.00 sec)

    Speak with Researcher Breoro 0/1 (House of Thule)

    You say, 'Hail, Researcher Breoro'

    Researcher Breoro says 'I can no longer feel the presence of the beasts. Thanks to you fools, I am now able to control my nightmare and have more power than I could have ever imagined. Your services will no longer be needed.'

    Defend yourself against Researcher Breoro 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Researcher Breoro hits for a max ~8,000, has 650,000 hitpoints, and casts a standard set of wizard spells.

    He also procs the spell "Dream Splinter" on his target:

    Dream Splinter: Magic (-650)
    1: Decrease Hitpoints by 15000

    As his health approaches 0%, he goes inactive.

    Stop! Stop fighting! This is madness! We must stop this at once!

    Speak with Researcher Breoro 0/1 (House of Thule)

    Researcher Breoro says 'I don't know what came over me. I am truly sorry. I could not resist the rush of power dangled before my eyes. Let me know when you are ready to [leave] this place.'

    Collect your reward from the ornate chest 0/1 (House of Thule)

    I figure it didn't matter which room I went into first, so I just started at one room and moved clockwise. The strategy I used was pretty simple. I always made sure to have distillate of alacrity X active whenever I started a room. When I pulled the three keepers in the room, pop off Armor of the Inquisitor and Inquisitors Judgement, spamming Denouncement Rk II pretty much nonstop.
    When the 3 keepers died and the Beast spawned I immediately popped Exalted Mantle Rk II and Righteous Indignation Rk II and held onto my seat, mashing Denouncement and heals as needed

    Only had to pop Lay On Hands during the Beast of the Unknown. His Dark Embrace startled me, wasn't expecting it, plus it took me down to 1% from where I was so I quickly mashed Lay on Hands and Hands of Piety.

    After each fight I'd wait until all of my skills and AAs were off cooldown before engaging the next room. I followed the same formula with the Researcher fight except I mashed all my skills at once and burned him down

    I had that happen to me, as well. Last Keeper wasn't snared and wandered off into an adjacent corridor. The mini-mob kept super-regenerating, going no lower than 97%, and it refused to follow me back into the room. However, I did go back to Breoro, and left the instance. Then the group re-entered the instance. The mini-mob was still outside of his room, but he did follow us back and we were able to complete the mission.

    Just boxed this - if you can call it that - with a 95/2250 Wizard + tank merc and a 83 Bard + cleric merc, both J5s. Bard was used for slow, haste, and regen - nothing else. Mainly there for his merc. Bard got eaten a few times. Tank only went down on the Beast of Rage, I think because the Wizard had an ice proc aug on his weapon, which triggered the Beast's DD.

    Wasn't too bad overall.

    the point being that there is an aa bonus until 2500+ and the exact bonus is unknown, especially when we dont know your aas, even then it's unknown unless you're at 0 or 2500+. the page here has been updated since, and you can see that the difference is enormous. 4aas at 86 vs your 14. glaring indiscrepancy. but in this age of the game yes generally any lvl 90 with only 1200aas is a crap toon, badly powerlevelled alt, etc. with the enormous aa counts available- maxes ranging from 5300ish to over 7500 depending on class - 1200 is still pretty poor, yes even moreso for a 10 year old toon. Doesnt mean you're not a good player, perhaps a lackluster one, I don't know, but the character is subpar regardless of who's behind it. I didn't say your playing sucked, just that the toon the info was taken from is not accurately representative for those that don't, though I don't personally know any good players that would leave their main that far behind, perhaps you are an exception.

    You Sir are a complete douchebag. You write like your a big deal since your toon has a bunch of AA's. Well let me be the first to inform you that this doesn't make you superior in any way. In fact all it says about you is that you have spent a bunch of time sitting in front of your computer playing a game. Whoop de do for you.

    I'm not sure why an offense was taken. I think the poster's point was that AAs make a huge difference in the playability of specific classes at certain levels (especially 85 plus levels). And while a character's AA count certainly doesn't make the player superior, it does make that character superior and more capable of doing their required job (I believe that was stated clearly as well).

    At the current age of the game, I usually suggest to friends that they focus on leveling up to 80 (at 80 they can start wearing HoT gear), then catch up their AA count before moving on to 90. Of course, how many AAs are needed to make you a strong group player at a specific level is very much class specific too. Tanks and Healers have the biggest burden from what I have seen and it is also the most obvious when a character of those classes are lacking in AAs for their play level. Most people do not run parsers so DPS and other support classes tend to get a break from the same scrutiny. Even so, It really enhances game play and what content can be addressed if all the characters played in a group are fully developed. Again, this observation has nothing to do with the player's abilities. But it has everything to do with what tools they have at their disposal (character abilities).

    As for the original post... I always just consider reg XP ratings due to the variable for AA exp.

    It's clear why someone would take offense to the post. It would have been sufficient to note that AA exp is awarded differently according to how many AA's the toon has accumulated. Everything else was talking sh*t to belittle the guy with the toon. not cool not necessary.

    Had this task lock on me before attacking the Researcher near the end of the task. Not sure but I think it locks after the last mini named from the last room you finish. Or it could lock on the hail to the researcher before attacking him.

    I can't confirm when it locks but I know it does now.

    "Defeat Breoro while afflicted by all four of the beast's curses."

    This is an individual achievement within this mission. To win it, each Beast must be provoked to cast its curse AE, and you must not die, and you must not be cured. The 4 curse debuffs have 60 minute timers.

    To provoke the curse AE while fighting a named Beast, cast or proc the appropriate resist spell on the Beast:
    The Beast of Horror (spider) - poison
    The Beast of Rage (golem) - cold
    The Beast of Rot (shrub) - disease
    The Beast of the Unknown (eyeball) - fire

    To prevent curing, don't cast cure spells, or any heal spells that include cures. The trick with merc healers is to put all their cure spells in your blocked buff list. Make sure you have enough slots free in your blocked buff list for at least 5 more.

    If the merc players are level upper 80s or level 90, these are the spells to block during the mission:

    /block add me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072

    96 = Counteract Disease
    1525 = Antidote
    2880 = Remove Greater Curse
    18365 = Frenetic Renewal Rk. II
    25072 = Purged Blood Rk. II

    After you win, you may cure again. Remember to remove the blocks:

    /block remove me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072

    Congrats on your achievement.

    Found that lvl 90 mercs also cast Frenzied Renewal in fights which will also cure these various afflictions. Those not tanking can get away with not blocking this spell as well, but main tanks would need to block it. Spell number for Frenzied Renewal Rk. II from raw data is 25226.

    # Aug 11 2019 at 9:56 AM Rating: Good
    I realize this is coming back from 8 years ago, but the mercs also now cast Word of Resurgence, which is a group heal with cure counters (poison, disease, curse). That needs to be added too:

    /block add me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072 25226 25249

    96 = Counteract Disease
    1525 = Antidote
    2880 = Remove Greater Curse
    18365 = Frenetic Renewal Rk. II
    25072 = Purged Blood Rk. II
    25226 = Frenzied Renewal Rk. II
    25249 = Word of Resurgence

    After that, we were able to complete the achievement with no issues.

    And of course, to remove them you can either type:

    /block remove me 96 1525 2880 18365 25072 25226 25249

    or just go to the EQ > Character > Blocked Buffs and click them off.

    Completed with SK(me), Mag, Wiz + 2 cleric mercs.

    Can pretty much run invis from one room to the next, clear the room + named and move on.

    SK tanking 2 keepers and mag pet on one, each room cleared fairly quickly, then on to the named. (except one room where the mag died early and I had to tank all 3 at once).

    Researcher Boreo hits harder than any of the beasts it seems, but is pretty much a straight up fight.

    Took us about 45 minutes overall, probably could have been faster with out the death.

    Keepers are indeed mezzable and harmonizable. Among the 4 sets they vary whether they're all too close for harmony to allow singles every time. The group with the Evil Eye boss is particularly hard to harmonize. If you only want one there I suggest using a FD class to snare (necro, SK) while the rest of the group waits invisd. Or a druid who can egress quickly.

    You do not have to be level 85 to do this group mission. Our average level was 86.5 and the lowest member was level 81. So it may require an average level of 85, but you do not have to be 85+ to participate.

    when we display the xp from a task can we please make it accurate. perhaps 14aas on your powerlevelled crap-aa toon, but not on a real player. should only look at 2500aa or at the very least mention the aa count the person submitting the xp gain is (because of the extended bonus) then can guage it by the level.
