You need Amiable faction with Storm Reapers in order to be able to get this quest.

Uner Gnarltrunk is located at Tagglefoot's Farmstead.

You say, 'Hail, Uner Gnarltrunk'
Uner Gnarltrunk says, 'Hello there, _____. Please watch where you are stepping when you're out in the field. Nothing is more frustrating than having some fine jumjum ruined by our own careless feet. That reminds me, [Deputy Tagil] still owes us for that jumjum he stomped on the other day!'

You say, 'Deputy Tagil'
Uner Gnarltrunk says, 'Deputy Tagil is a fine young halfling who serves the vale well. But the other day, chasing that dirty Nillipuss, he trampled some fresh Jumjum. He promised to make amends, but it must have slipped his mind. Please take this note to him as a friendly reminder.'

You receive a Note.

Deputy Tagil is in Misty Thicket guarding the entrance to Rivervale. Target him and right-click to consider him.

Deputy Tagil says, 'What's this? Oh dear. I am very sorry. Please take this to Uner with my apologies.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Deputy Tagil's Payment. Give it to Uner Gnarltrunk.

Uner Gnarltrunk says, 'I knew that Deputy Tagil had simply forgotten. He really is a good young halfling. Here, take this as a small payment for your time.'

I created a halfling rogue. what faction do i have to raise to be able to do this quest?
Unkempt Druids
# Nov 07 2001 at 5:41 AM Rating: Default
Ok I just looked on a faction list and tried to figure this out but i'm still a bit pondered. What druids are these (the Unkempt Druids whos faction lowers by completion of this quest)?? and if i do this how will it effect me (a lvl 3 halfling druid). I guess i just want to make sure i'm not gonna be "shooting myself in the foot" by doing this quest.

If anyone knows, plz post =) i'd like to do this til 5 if it is a good quest.
Thanks!

the unkempt druids are a "crazy" (evil) group of druids in the qeynos area. don't worry about your faction with them as quite a few druid quests lowers it.
is this broken?

I tried this quest today, and found Deputy Tagil where he was supposed to be, but his name showed up as "!Deputy Tagil" and he took the note but gave no response. I had the same problem with another quest in Rivervale today as well - the stew quest. Deputy Lowbot had an exclamation mark in front of his name, and took the quest item without giving a response (well, he said "Thanks for the stew"). I was playing on the Firiona Vie server - could some of these quests be disabled on that server?
RE: is this broken?

I believe when they have an exclamation mark in their name they are disabled. Watch out before you give any NPC stuff when they have that in the name.
where is tagil?

My lvl 3 druid attempted the quest. The NPC did not respond to [deputy nagil]. Grrrr.

That's probably because you have to say Tagil, not nagil.

I used this quest to lvl from 4 to 5. You can do this quest from 1 all the way to 5 if you want to. It gives great exp, and the stuff sells pretty good. The only bad part is you don't get to practice any of your skills, such as 1H blunt and such. But, that will cure itself after 5 when you start fighting. If you get a SoW, it makes it work even better. I have a slow load time before zones, and it still works great. A must for any newbie Halflings.

potion of wisdom
# Jul 20 2001 at 3:16 AM Rating: Default
Drinking the potion results the "insight" enchanter buffing taking effect. Poitions seem to be the rare reward, ranking right up with a fishing pole as the other rare. It seemed that the more rare items came when i was a level 1 starting to repeat this quest. As i leveled the number of rare rewards dropped significantly.

Being a female druid, I would be quite offended when getting a carrot for a reward!!
It got nerfed
# Jul 01 2001 at 12:07 PM Rating: Default
they nerfed the quest, i did it about 10 times in a row with my new halfling druid and never got a potion of wisdom, any1 know if that is just coincidence or what?

I did this quest with my Druid and kept the Potion of wisdom in the bank. I tried it the other day and it increases wisdon with gift of magic. Glad I saved them!
Tagil quest

Fools I do not know what your problems are or if they changed something but I did the qeust from lvl 1 - 4 and I got 4 POTIONS of Wisdom in all and 2 Fishing Poles, yes I suppose they are rare as you put it drop but, I ran back and forth doing the quest with my Halfling Druid and got a potion about 1 per lvl I gained doing the quest. Now I do not know if they WORK because I have not drunk one yet but I know you can get them just by doing the quest a bit.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 02 2001 at 1:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have done the quest about 10 times and i either got food or nothing at all!!!!!

i made a hafling rogue and i also could not do the quest. but at 6 level i could. i think if your not a druid you should wait a few levels so you can get your faciton high enough and then you will be able to do it.

Made a level 1 cleric to try this quest. He either says:

"I'm not sure I can entrust you with this information yet."

or

"Come back when you have done more to further our campaign."

Quest info needs to be changed to reflect that this quest is best suited for druids, not all classes.
I got a broken wisdom potion
# Nov 24 2000 at 7:01 PM Rating: Default
I have a 24lvl druid who did this quest around the sixth level a few times. About the third time I turned in the coin to Uner I recieved a Potion of Wisdom. WOW! I said, but als it wouldn't work!
I was extremly dissapointed. I petitioned later on that day only to be told to hold on to it until it was fixed. Well that was about 2-3 months ago. There has been a minor change in the item since the last patch though, now it state in the item discription. Charges: 1 (this was not here before) but of course it still does not work

Ok Colune again, I have read some of the other postings that have mentioned potion of wisdom as rewards. Has anyone been able to use one?

I have recieved about 5 poitions of wisdom so far. I used one and it worked! They are worth 9gp+
Reward items
# Oct 19 2000 at 6:10 PM Rating: Default
the reward items are as follows there is no specific order: carrots, mistletoe, bandages, pine thistles or something pine
RE: Reward items
# Jan 06 2001 at 6:56 PM Rating: Default
Carrots seem to be the most frequent. Out of 8 times running it I received 5 carrots, 1 mistletoe, 1 bandage and 1 fishing pole (go figure).

This quest is great at low levels. From levels 1-3 I received a half bubble for its completion each time. Not bad. At level 4 I received almost nothing so I am assuming that is its cut off point unless you just want to continue it as you pass in and out of Rivervale for some extra coin.

After doing this quest about 25 times I discovered some rare ones. After a long time I received a fishing pole. Once, I received a potion of wisdom. It is expendable and non stackable.

Are the carrots and things ediable or just for extra money?

What I want to know is why he won't give me the note when I talk to Uner? Does anyone know why it doesn't work? My character is a Halfling Druid. So wat is the problem?
RE: Deputy Tagil's Debt
# Oct 29 2000 at 5:13 AM Rating: Decent
Need to ask who is Deputy tagil and he gives the note.
Why Not do it?
# Jul 26 2000 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
I started in Rivervale and did a circuit of quests every time I hit town. Why not? I started this one, grabbed the carrots, made the delivery, got the stew made the delivery, ran out and dropped off the note on my way to hunt. When I got a full inventory and an empty mana bar I went in and sold at the Druid farm (slightly better prices than in Misty and i had to let mana regen anyway) dropped off the coins and did the circuit again. AT low levels these NO RISK quests can add greatly to a young halflings bankroll and even some experience.
nice quest

I did this quest many times and the potions you get sell for 1 pp for a level 1 player thats nice cash!
Also faction works towards the wall quest as well.

I have done this many times in other characters. But I am now trying to do this with my Barbarian Warrior. I get the same message of needing more experience for him to trust me.
I am doing the "Julian's Stew" quest by taking the rotten carrots to Blinza and just keep giving them to her. She complains but gives them back including good faction. I gave them about 100 times and have raised 2 levels (faction not XP).

I did that, and he said I didn't have enough experience to be trusted with that information. Also told me to come back when I had done more to further their cause.

Great newbie quest
# Jul 06 2000 at 7:44 AM Rating: Good
This quest can get you from level 1 to level 4 in about an hour. The xp is great at that level, and the quest is no risk and takes about 3 minutes to do.
RE: Great newbie quest
# Nov 04 2000 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, this easy exp for a newbie. In fact, at level 1 you can make it to level 2 in about 5 minutes just making this trip a few times.

I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it all the way to level 4 without working on your skills some. You'd might find things difficult at 4 and your skills still at 1. You'd also be rather poor.

a good quest for low level players if you have the faction to get it. I saw one player do nothing but the quest and jump from level 1 to 3 in a short time.
