This raid expedition begins with Rodrick Cleanheart. He is at location -170, -320, -25 in the Cooling Chamber.

Pre-requisites for requesting this raid:

Thorbin's task arc (It's Getting Hot in Here!; Still Too Hot to Handle!; Goos Gone Wild)

Rodrick's task arc (Investigate the Dead; Hunt the Dead; Tasnise Underbelly)

There are no pre-requisites for participating in the raid.

You say, 'Hail, Rodrick Cleanheart'

Rodrick Cleanheart says 'Brell's eyes must shine down on you from below his [heavy] brows, my friend. Your discovery of that [device] and removal of the threat to the [Coldain] has been of great service to Brell and all of us in the Underfoot. But even that appears to have opened the way for an even more deadly [threat].'

You say, 'What deadly threat?'

Rodrick Cleanheart says 'Certainly you have seen the great beast that sits atop the ice shelf in the lowest chamber. That beast once threatened to destroy much of the Underfoot. It arrived here some time ago during a time when portals appeared in several places in the Underfoot. These portals, Brell told us, were opened by beings from another realm known as Discord. He was not able to close these portals, but he did enclose them in the depths of the Underfoot, pressing miles of stone around them on all sides. But before he could complete that task the great beast pushed through one of the portals and started destroying things. Brell found a way to [stop it].'

You say, 'Stop it?'

Rodrick Cleanheart says 'The beast was terribly powerful. Brell was unable, or perhaps unwilling, to destroy the beast. He did, however, trap it in the glacier that normally fills most of the lower chamber. Now, with all of the problems that we have suffered, the ice has melted and the beast is free. It seems obvious to me now that Tasnise is responsible for this. He is using the power of the beast for his nefarious [plot].'

You say, 'What plot?'

Rodrick Cleanheart says 'I am guessing at this, but it seems to me that he was taking power from the beast. Draining it to gain his necromantic powers and to open that portal to Thurgadin. But now he is dead and there is no drain on the beast's powers. The beast has begun to move about somewhat. If it regains full strength it might be unstoppable now. Please gather your allies and defeat the beast before it destroys the Underfoot! Tell me when you are [ready].'

You say, 'Ready!'

Rodrick Cleanheart says 'Off you go! Good luck!'

Grunkuck

Grunkuck the Beast sits in the middle of the icy lake. She is permanently rooted at all times in the event. She has an aura that will drop invis if you get too close. She summons from 100% health; hits for a max ~20,000; single-target rampages; flurries; AE rampages (mitigated to ~10,000); and enrages.

Grunkuck occasionally tosses random people to the whelps in the surrounding water (these mobs are in groups of four and are unattackable). You'll see this emote as she does this:

Grunkuck tosses _____ to her young.

If this happens to you, swim away from the mobs quickly as they each hit for ~6,000.

She will also occasionally summon people who are outside her melee range (an ability independent of a mob's typical summoning). This places you directly under her and is unrelated to your position on her hatelist.

AEs and Emotes

All of these AEs and emotes occur for the event's duration.

Grunkuck casts the spell "Vicious Strike" on random people:

Vicious Strike: Single Target, Corruption (-100)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000

She casts the spell "Sluggishness of the Otherworld" at both her right and left sides (front and back are safe spots from this spell):

Sluggishness of the Otherworld: Directional 150', Corruption (-700)
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 50%
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 130%
3: Increase corruption counter by 24

She also has two emote-based targeted AE spells. Emotes appear in plain text in the chat window as well as big yellow text that flashes up in the middle of your screen. If you are the target of an emote, you need to move away from everyone else in the raid.

If you see:

Grunkuck looks at _____ with glee!

...You have 15 seconds before you get hit with "Otherworldly Explosion":

Otherworldly Explosion: Targeted AE 100', Corruption (-100)
1: Knockback 6'
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

If you see:

Grunkuck looks at _____ with strange intent.

...You have 15 seconds before you get hit with "Blank Slate":

Blank Slate: Targeted AE 110', Corruption (-100)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 4000 per tick
3: Increase corruption counter by 6
4: Silence

Warp at 70%

At 70% health, Grunkuck warps to the southwest coast of the lake. At this point, four dimensional beast adolescents spawn around her. They must be killed quickly as they heal Grunkuck's health.

The adolescents are permanently rooted, hit for a max ~10,000 and proc the spell "Tearing Throw":

Tearing Throw: Single Target, Magic (0)
1: Knockback 6'
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 18000
3: Stun (1.00 sec)

The adolescents have to be killed. If you try attacking Grunkuck while they're still alive, you'll see this emote accompanied by her regeneration:

Grunkuck is healed. It seems unlikely that she can be killed while any of her first children stand guard over her.

Once the adds are dead, continue attacking Grunkuck until she warps away again.

Second Warp

A few minutes after warping to the southwest coast, Grunkuck warps again. This time, to the northwest coast.

Another four adolescents spawn. Kill them and continue attacking Grunkuck.

Grunkuck's Mate

Once Grunkuck reaches 43% health, "Kelmuck, Grunkuck`s mate" spawns close by and slithers up to Grunkuck's location. You'll see this exchange:

Grunkuck begins to fear for her life before such powerful foes. In desperation she sacrifices part of her dwindling strength to open the largest tear in space yet, summoning aid!

Kelmuck, Grunkuck`s mate shouts 'Grunkuck's mate screams in rage at the wounds his mate has suffered. With a powerful blast of healing he sacrifices his own health to heal her.'

Grunkuck's health regenerates to about 80%. Kelmuck's health starts at about 60%.

Kelmuck has similar melee abilities to Grunkuck and is also permanently rooted. He casts the spell "Overpowering Strike" on random people:

Overpowering Strike: Single Target, (-100)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

He also has an emote-based spell attack.

If you are the target of this emote:

Grunkuck's mate goes insane with rage at _____.

...You have five seconds before you get with "Otherworldly Explosion":

Otherworldly Explosion: Targeted AE 100', Corruption (-100)
1: Knockback 6'
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000

Adds

After the mate spawns, the dimensional beast whelps in the water go aggro (one group of four at a time) and charge the raid. They each hit for a max ~6,000.

In addition to those, several mobs called "an underdeveloped whelp" spawn and attack (max hit ~6,500). The only way to kill these is to kite them. Without anyone to attack, they'll go hungry and gradually drop to 0% on their own.

Any remaining adds despawn upon the deaths of Grunkuck and Kelmuck.

Loot

Once both Grunkuck and Kelmuck are dead (kill order doesn't matter), an insulated chest spawns at Grunkuck's original spawnpoint.

Loot consists of 2 armor pieces (first list) + 2 other items (second list) + 3 Coins of Brell (flag) + 2 Scintillating Obsidianite Runes + 2 Brilliantly/Brightly Pulsating Crystallized Cosgrove Shards + 0-1 Crystallized Ball of Cosgrove Clay (cultural aug):

The mob warps to shore at 70%, then warps again to the north ~ 40%. Sometime after that, Kelmuck, Grunckuck's mate spawns. Seems to have the same AEs as Grunk has.
