This group mission (3-6 players) begins with Darott in the Foundation. He is located far north of the zone-in, outside the burynai caves.

In order to request this mission, you must have completed Trullica's three solo tasks.

You say, 'Hail, Darott'

Darott says 'Hey, you. You help Adherent burynai like me, yes? We grateful. You do us another favor, we do something [nice] for you.'

You say, 'Something nice?'

Darott says 'You know Saunk? Young shaman, very powerful. He even more powerful now. We are [worried] about him, what he will do now.'

You say, 'Worried?'

Darott says 'Saunk a good friend, Saunk fight bad ones who follow bad ways. Saunk also fight cliknar. But Saunk [learn] bad things from cliknar.'

You say, 'What did he learn?'

Darott says 'Saunk find out what cliknar ants are up to, he eat their jelly-words and know their thoughts. Secret things only cliknar know, Saunk learned. They after the sacred Clay. They take Clay of Cosgrove, they do things to it to make their Queen smarter and stronger, then feed it to her. Saunk learn how to do this too. He [change] himself.'

You say, 'How did he change?'

Darott says 'Saunk make cliknar formula for himself, give himself many magic powers. Too many, if you ask me, if you ask Greph. He use powers to kill enemies attacking us. Then he use powers to kill enemies not attacking us. Then he use powers on rival burynai, then on his friends. Saunk lose mind, Saunk [betray] himself and other burynai.'

You say, 'How did he betray you?'

Darott says 'Saunk decide we all no more than bugs to him, he go somewhere else and make another Foundation where he most important person. Here where Darott need favor. Darott have enough power to find Saunk in place where he went. But Saunk not trust Darott anymore, and Darott not strong enough to defeat Saunk or stop Saunk from sending me back here to real Foundation. Darott stay in not-real Foundation long enough to see another Darott there, a shade of real Darott which is me, but is also not-me. He like me enough to help you know what to do when I [send] you there, which I hope is really soon, before Saunk's power grow to large and mighty and he finally decide to become a god and destroy us all.'

You say, 'Send me there'

Darott says 'I will use magic, I will send you to Saunk's not-real-Foundation place. Hold still, tell Darott when [ready]!'

You have been assigned the task 'The Search for Saunk'.

Darott the Adherent is sending you to the pocket-dimension his former friend Saunk has created for himself. You must find him and destroy him if necessary to keep him from becoming even more powerful!

Speak with the Shade of Darott, once you have been ported into Saunk's demi-plane. The Shade will tell you how to get Saunk to appear.

Say "ready" to zone into an instanced version of the Foundation. No mobs are in aggro range of the zone-in point.

You say, 'Ready!'

Darott says 'Okay, your skin start tingling, and soon you go 'whoosh' into not-real-Foundation. Say hello to Saunk, if you can get him to talk and be nice again.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Foundation.

Speak with the Shade of Darott; find out how to find the real Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

You say, 'Hail, Shade of Darott'

Shade of Darott says 'I am glad you came here. I am the Shade of Darott. I suspect I truly exist not. Here in this place, this mirror-image of Foundation, Saunk reigns supreme. See around you the other Shades -- copies of creatures Saunk knew or remembered from his days in the real Foundation. They act like the real thing, but they, like everything else here, are but figments of Saunk's imagination. You not find Saunk as he meditating, gather power for the next step towards godhood! He impatient with visitors even if he know you're here, send avatars to kill you or drive you away. If you destroy enough of his shades, maybe he take notice. Destroy shades of adherents, autarchians, cliknar, and bellikos, that enough to make him mad.'

Kill the Shades of Burynai; they aren't real 0/24 (The Foundation)

Burynai Adherents are found throughout the zone-in area and at the clay production area of the regular Foundation zone, while Autarchians are found in the eastern half of the zone in camps of 3-4. There is a total of 24 spawns in the zone.

Kill the Shades of Cliknar Warriors; they aren't real 0/24 (The Foundation)

The cliknar are located in the western caves.

Tell the Shade of Darott the false citizens of the unreal Foundation are now gone 0/1 (The Foundation)

You say, 'Hail, Shade of Darott'

Insignificant beings. How dare you disturb my menagerie! This place was to be my refuge, my playground, where I would repose until I learned what to do with my former brethren. As for you, you do not even belong in Underfoot at all, I shall test your mortal resilience with destructive force!

Shade of Darott says 'Yes, you done it now. Darott sense rumbling in not-real-Foundation, Saunk now awake and alert, wonder what happening. You face first avatar of Saunk now. Be careful. They powerful.'

Speak to the First Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

First Avatar of Saunk says 'You think to test my fighting spirit, my stamina? I assure you, this is a mistake.'

Destroy the First Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

First Avatar of Saunk has been slain by _____!

So you are indeed powerful, and not to be trifled with. So be it. I have many avatars. These are made from the former bodies of my friends, whose minds I destroyed and replaced with copies of my own will. I am so much more now than I was. You can't even grasp the experience of amassing so much power and growth in so short a time. I have increased my intellect a thousand-fold from only a few days ago, when I was barely smarter than the average burynai! Now I and my avatars stand on the brink of godhood!

Speak to the Second Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Second Avatar of Saunk says 'Destruction is your only reward, you have chosen a poor opponent if you were expecting anything else!'

Destroy the Second Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Second Avatar of Saunk has been slain by _____!

You destroy my avatars so casually, not realizing that they grow stronger! There is only one outcome to this contest, and it shall be your end. I, Saunk, shall prevail and rise to godhood, the first everlasting burynai god!

Speak to the Third Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Third Avatar of Saunk says 'I am no longer burynai, but a god. I am multiple beings, and yet one. My power grows with each passing second!'

Destroy the Third Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Third Avatar of Saunk has been slain by _____!

Perhaps you persist in killing my avatars to learn more about how I achieved this incredible power, and escaped the fetters of my mortal burynai existence. Perhaps you are merely foolish, and have extended your reach far beyond your grasp. The secrets of power are locked within the Clay of Cosgrove, which the cliknar have succeeded in discovering, within days of the disappearance of Brell Serilis. Their thinker, Qeyn, was considering the recipe for the extract. I simply intercepted it. It was astonishingly easy to make. Alas, you will die before you learn the secret yourself. A god tolerates little in the way of competition!

Speak to the Fourth Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Fourth Avatar of Saunk says 'The secret of the cliknar has given me strength, soon I will re-order your world! I shall rule the planes! Soon enough, there will be nothing I cannot do!'

Destroy the Fourth Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Fourth Avatar of Saunk has been slain by _____!

Pitiful. You cannot destroy me! Avatars may fall, but my essence is imbued into the very reality here, all around you. I am godlike, and you are not. Dare you tear down my works, my greatest avatars? After I have defeated you, I shall alter you, and make you my pets!

Speak to the Fifth Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Fifth Avatar of Saunk says 'You are too troublesome to tolerate any longer. The destruction of my avatars is an inconvenience, yes, and now an irritation as well.'

Destroy the Fifth Avatar of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Fifth Avatar of Saunk has been slain by _____!
Your task 'The Search for Saunk' has been updated.

Fine. Destroy my avatars. Break my concentration. I will have no choice but to meditate on the next stage of my escalating godhood later.

Speak to Saunk the Shaman 0/1 (The Foundation)

Saunk the Shaman says 'You are the stem, and I am the razor. Fall on your knees and worship me, or meet your peril!'

Kill Saunk the Shaman 0/1 (The Foundation)

Saunk the Shaman has been slain by _____!
Your faction standing with Underfoot Autarchs got worse.
Your faction standing with Underfoot Citizens got better.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! You've destroyed my original body! I shall have vengeance! You've trapped my consciousness inside my last avatar, the body of a genari! I will destroy you utterly for this outrage!

Genati of Saunk spawns nearby. Although you've made him quite angry, he doesn't attack. You can still med here if needed prior to engaging.

Kill Genati of Saunk 0/1 (The Foundation)

Genati of Saunk has been slain by _____!
Your task 'The Search for Saunk' has been updated.
Your shared task is now locked. You may no longer add or remove players.

Speak to the Shade of Darott to return to the real Foundation 0/1 (The Foundation)

You say, 'Hail, Shade of Darott'

Shade of Darott says 'You defeat Saunk? You truly powerful! Saunk gone, this place crumble soon, it not stay solid without Saunk's power. You tell real-Darott I say 'goodbye'. Here, I send back to real-Foundation now.'

Your task 'The Search for Saunk' has been updated.

You have succeeded in killing Saunk the Shaman before he could become truly godlike. In doing so, you have saved Underfoot and probably Norrath as well.

I was recently able to do this mission with my bard in a very solid group. A couple quick pointers:
You need a solid, balanced group. We had (all lvl 85, at least 1k, probably more aa each) bard, sk, clr, dru, nec, mag. Don't expect mercs to be able to handle this mission. You can probably go a little easier on the dps than we did, but you need a solid puller / cc in order to make it through (had tank die twice).
The mission took us just over two hours. The aa xp inside the instance is amazing, and with the massive amount of trash, it's a great time to pop lesson. I gained 10 aa all told.
Start with the cliknars. The first few avatars are away from them.

For more details, I took screenshots to record some info, but didn't have /log enabled, will be updating with that soon.

I did not receive any spell/tome/other reward on my bard, nor do I recall any of my groupmates (class listed above) mentioning receiving any. However, it may be required to do other tasks in that tier of Uf progression to receive.

/loc for the second Avatar is -53, 97.
3rd avatar is -555, 255
4th is -130, 1015.
5th is 100, 1190
Saunk the shaman is near the zi, approximately -200, 1800

5th avatar and Saunk the Shaman /conned yellow, Genati /conned red
1st 2nd 3rd avatars /conned dark blue, don't have records on 4th, guessing even
All /conns are relative to a lvl 85.

We didn't have much trouble with any of them, but definitely have everyone in group ready and save your burns for the last event.

For each of the "Speak to the [nth] Avatar of Saunk" steps, a simple hail will do.
