This is the 'Brell's Arena' monster mission/task involving the boomerang game introduced with Underfoot. To request this event, speak with either Gilbot the Magnificent or Gilbot the Golden in the northwestern part of Brell's Rest (by the lava next to the ramp leading to the Shining City).

No KOS mobs wander on their own to their location, but the area is still not entirely safe due to the nature of the zone. Keep a lookout for mobs while interacting with either of these NPCs.

There is a 31-minute lockout timer associated with this task, most likely from the point at which you request it.

You must be at least 60th level in order to participate or request the instance.

You say, 'Hail, Gilbot the Magnificent'

Gilbot the Magnificent says 'Hi there _____. Are you [crazy]?'

You say, 'Maybe I'm crazy'

Gilbot the Magnificent says 'Of course, to be honest, who here isn't a bit crazy? But I guess I'm just wondering, since you're talking to me, if you are a [specific] kind of crazy, the kind of crazy that likes to get hit in the face by a boomerang thrown by an angry gnoll.'

You say, 'I'm a very specific kind of crazy'

Gilbot the Magnificent says 'Oh, you are? Excellent! Step this way, grab a set of boomerangs and get ready for pain, er, fun fun fun!'

You have been assigned the task 'Brell's Arena - Boomerang Brawl!'.
The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

Enter Brell's Arena and prepare for a wild and frantic contest! Three teams of Kobold and Gnoll players contest with each other in Brell's Arena, 'playing' a game that involves throwing a boomerang made out of stone at each other.

Rules: Each time a player hits a member of the opposite team, that player will gain 1 point. If you are hit with a disc more than once in a thirty second period you will lose 1 point. You can lose points while you are knocked down, so get up as quickly as you can! Points are tallied at the end of ten minutes, when the contest ends, and the contestants retire to rest up for a new game.

You have been given the opportunity to join one of these three teams, and you and your companions will enter the arena and fight it out with the minions of Brell, and possibly, each other. Anyone on a different team is fair game for your boomerang, but you must use the correct boomerang to knock your opponent down.

Rewards will be given based on your standing at the end of ten minutes, so try to score as many points as you can!

Enter Brell's Arena and participate in the games 0/1 (Brell's Rest)

Score as many points as you can! 0/1 (Brell's Arena)

The entrance to the arena is located in the eastern part of Brell's Rest, in the kobold camp (it's marked on your compass).

Available monster templates include:
Nra`Vruu Mucktail
SaNril`Rexsso
Sodkee Blackfang

Donup Misteyes
Endunr Darkpaw
Teenta Narseekin
Khelup Icepaw
Bragnar Noox
Mkrarrg Endi
Berzok the Elder
Urgak Twil
Ruga Taex

Templates come equipped with Bread Cakes, Skins of Milk, Red and Yellow Boomerangs, and Brell's Personal Blessing.

Once in the arena zone, speak with Gilbot again to initiate things:

You say, 'Hail, Gilbot the Wary'

Gilbot the Wary says 'Well if you've come this far I guess you really are crazy. When you're ready to [start] let me know!'

You say, 'Let's start!'

Gilbot the Wary says 'I'm not sticking around to watch. It's too dangerous!'

Silver Tokens and Gold Tokens are earned for participation in this event. They can be used to buy items from either Gilbot the Magnificent or Gilbot the Golden in Brell's Rest. (Items are listed on their NPC pages.)

Lock out is incorrect.

I just completed the task and exited via the gate. When I said specific to the quest npc I was given a 34m lockout. Strange thing is the other 5 times I completed the task, 31 or 32 minutes left, but I removed the task and waited to zone rather than zoning

Does this mission have a minimum level at all?

The lowest I tried bringing into the mission was a lvl 65 and that resulted in an average group level of 75.
It worked.

The fight part lasts about 8:30 minutes by my count.

Brells Superbuff power-up is gotten by jumping the ramp when it has a totem on top of it. Collision detection seems to be whacky so it doesn't always work.

And yes, it's a terribly cheesy way to gear up. Still - that's small change compared to the "real" gear in that expension and in order to get that, you need a tank who isn't terribly bothered by getting hit for 6-8k a pop.
Apparently SOE doesn't think that everyone would like to raid for 2 years before being able to do all the group content in this expansion.

MeMymy's post is on the money. Just to add a little bit of info to that. I 4 box this all on one cpu. When i hit F11 i get a little netstat box thing. My connection is always at 100% but the next # usually hovers around 120ms on each account. What i try to do is get one point with 3 of my characters and then with the 4th one go for 1st place. I was not doing too good at 1st and i wondered why. A few posts suggested that npcs rarely got above 50 but often i would see them get 70, 80 and once even over a hundred points. I realized the problem though.

When i start the event i would often try to get a point or 2 as quickly as possible. The problem with this was that the same bunch of npcs would pace back and forth hitting which ever character i scored a point with first over and over again. The pop up window that shows up when you first zone in mentions that enforcers can rack up points more quickly then the other contestants. Some how they would get fixed on that one character and continually go after him and only him. Pacing away and coming right back. This allowed the enforcers to rack up points very quickly even when i would try to move that character. The same 2 or 3 npcs would run to where ever that character was and pace no more then a few feet away from my now motionless character and come back to hit him and then repeat the process.

Now what i do is i wait a few seconds after the match begins. I make sure to get one point and one point only with each character and then and only then do i try to get 1st with the 4th character. I no longer see a group of npcs go after one of my characters and only my characters. They seem more focused on each other which ensures they don't rack up as much points cause the ones that were pacing back and forth a few feet and continually attacking my character were not getting attacked by any other kobold so they were not losing any points.

This made things much easier and doing it this way i was finally able to get one character to 1st place and a 2nd character to 2nd place. Just to add a bit of info i would make sure i parked 3 of my characters on the bleachers on the sides of the arena before i started the event. Some info about my cpu. I am running a windows 7 amd phenom 9950 quad-core processor at 2.6 ghz. 4096mb of ram and a nvidia GeForce 8600 GT card. I have all audio off on all 4 accounts and settings as low as possible and only 1 or 2 upgraded models as well as horse/drog models on for each account. I hope this info helps a bit. Oh and once i complete the event i have to wait 35 minutes before i can do this again. It counts from the moment the event completes and all the kobolds despawn not from when you zone out just to correct a few people on that one.
EDIT: Okay it doesn't specifically say that enforcers can gain more points over the regular contestant kobolds but they will cause you to lose more points. I figured that it also meant they could get more points too. I may be wrong about that but as far as i remember the enforcers were always the ones with more points then the other kobolds.
EDIT: I managed to get 37 points with 2 different characters. Both came in 1st place but regardless the one i got the last point with was given the 3 gold tokens and 42 silver tokens. The other one was given 2 gold tokens and 36 silver tokens. The 1st and 2nd place prizes.
EDIT: Once i had gotten 16 points which tied me with the 3rd place npc and putting me into 4th place according to the listing. I still got the 1 gold token and 30 silver token reward as if i had gotten 3rd place though which was a very nice surprise.

I did find a nice little way to box them. I'll just leave 2 toons off to the side and run one around doing it for 5-8 minutes, until you feel like he's comfortably in first place (NPCs will usually get in the 30s, will occassionally get above 40, but can, rarely, get as high as into the 70s, which is a pretty rare fluke, but it shouldnt take you longer than 5 to 7 minutes to get to above 50). Then you can park that toon in a corner and switch to another. Here's where it gets easy, the NPC AI knows what your score is and they will swarm on your one toon that's in first place. So you can stand just off to the side on another toon and pick them off as they swarm around, they wont hit each other so they'll all be open for you.

Since there should only be a few minutes left at most your 1st place toon will lose 6ish points from being spammed, not enough to take it out of first place (other than those rare occasions the NPCs will get 50+)

So what I do is Spend 6 or 7 minutes getting one toon high up (maybe bit longer if you get unlucky and hit a few barrels, or can go shorter if you're getting lucky and sense you're reacking up a ton of points). Then I'll pop onto toon 2 and get 3 or 4 points on him and sit him to the side, then on 3rd and spend last 3-5 minutes on him which should get him into 2nd or 3rd.

You'll get 70 to 90 silver out of it over 3 toons, 3 gold on one, and probably 2 or 1 on another.

p.s. i think they also need to add an effect to the barrels that will make you invuln to them for the length of the stun and then a second or two longer because i've lost as much as 30 points because you hit one barrel and knocks you into another which will then knock you into another, you can get chained into a long string which blows, or when you hit one it knocks you up and you'll hit one while it's still hanging in the air, real annoying =P

Haven't had a chance to do this yet.

You need a group of 3 to get mission? I thought it was supposed to be a solo mission...

So now you don't have to actually play EQ or play your character or conquer anything to get fantastic gear, you just play a (lousy) video game within EQ and you can get far better gear than I can currently get after playing the game for 10 years.

Not only that but you can go buy the tokens in the bazaar and you don't even have to play the video game. Heck, turn $$$ into bazaar plat and you can buy awesome gear with RL $$.

There's only one word for this: LAME. (OK I was thinking of going with Bogus too but you get the idea).

EQ is definitely going down the tubes. Nice work, Sony, workin so hard to put nails in the coffin of The Best. Game. Ever.

Not going to comment on the ignorance of the rest of your post. But the Gold/Silver Tokens are No Trade, so you cannot buy them in the Bazaar. Turn your Reactionary meter down a bit and do some research before you fly off the handle next time.

I think the Gold Tokens are NO TRADE, but the Silver ones aren't; they go for as little as 150pp in the Bazaar.

couldn't you always buy the best gear for real money? I've seen a ton of sites offering top tier gear for cash! So how does this ruin the game? If you don't like it then don't play boomerang lol This gear is only the first tier of the new expansion so if you want better you'll still have earn it :P

My Comp isn't top of the line and i had no issues with this simple task. Three player minimum and very easy to win, never had below 60 points and that is always enough. I box three chars and just stand two of them on the benches, run the other in circles none stop targeting my group and the occasional wanderer. Hot key the boomerangs and this task is easy as can be. Very easy way to equip up the char for the rest of the expansion, you will need the AC.

YOU WILL NEED! a top of the line computer to do this mission or you csn forget about ever doing well in it. I have a 1200 doller computer and the best I have ever gotten in 52 missions is 39 points. My computer is far above average and I still lag a TON when doing these missions.I have tried everything lowering the resolution, turning off the grass, turning off all spell particles, every single possible lil trick and it still lags ALOT!!!!!

I would check your settings if your lagging that bad, I'm running a 5 year old dell with 4GB of ram and a $200 eMachine from tiger direct that I have been using for that last 2 years. I usually run 2 different toons through the mission on these computers and i usually get 2-4 gold and anywhere from 35-90 silver, depending on which place i come in.

Thanks for making a task that requires a very good connection. *sarcasm*

I don't know how long contestants are "resting" but I seem to get it about 90% of the times I target and throw a boomerang.

Silver Tokens and Gold Tokens
# Dec 21 2009 at 8:01 AM Rating: Decent
I have participated in this even a few times.
The basics of this event, is to score points by hitting the opposing teams with the corresponding boomerang. Hit someone from the blue team with the blue boomerang, Hit red with red boomerang, and yellow with yellow boomerang. Depending on what template you picked depends on who you get to hit. You have 2 boomerangs when you zone in, for each team. Also you can be hit aswell, sometimes this causes you to Feign Death, so be sure to make a hot key for sit/stand.

1. Score as many points as you can, by hitting opposing teams with your boomerang.
2. Dont run into the barrels.
3. There are power ups all over the place, each do a different thing, Grab them.
4. Try not to get hit, i try to run around alot.

This Task runs for 10 mins from the time you start. When its over all the NPCs from opposing teams disappear, and you will get an emote with how well you did. Generally if you did ok you will get some silver tokens witch are deposited into your inventory, so you have to click ALT Currency, Click Silver tokens, click reclaim.

Gold tokens are a bit different, for them you have to score in the top 3 to get any. Usually its:

1. 3 Gold Tokens.
2. 2 Gold Tokens.
3. 1 Gold token.

Also with the gold tokens, you have to click the Alt currency, Gold token, click Reclaim.
You use your Silver and Gold Tokens to by stuff from Gilbot the Magnificent, and Gilbot the gold.
