This raid task begins with Old Man McKenzie in the Plane of Knowledge. He is located in one of the taverns due south of the main bank. Your raid's average level must be at least 80 in order to request this task. You must also have completed certain raids such as Solteris in order to request this task.
You say, 'Hail, Old Man McKenzie' Old Man McKenzie says 'Hail yerself, ya wee wanna-be hero! All ya youngin's these days dunna have any respect fer yer elders. Back in my day, we didna' have these fancy portals back and forth across the world! We had to walk both ways up across them Serpent Spine peaks! And if'n a dwarf wanted to go back ta see the glory o' Kaladim, he had to ride a BOAT! An' don't be gettin' me started on the [equipment] we had to make due with!' You say, 'The equipment couldn't have been that bad...' Old Man McKenzie says 'O' now ye gone and done it! We were lucky if we had one combine long sword between us! None o' this fancy defiant armor that all ye lads be talkin' about now days! All we had was good cold steel and iron! Maybe ye'd be lucky enough to see a bit o' mithril now and again, but that wasn't much comfort against the ragin' flames o' [dragon fire]!' You say, 'Dragon fire? From where?' Old Man McKenzie says 'Well from Lord Nagafen, o' course! He caused quite a ruckus back in my day. E'ry group o' slack jawed daffodils that ventured into those lavastorm mountains was ne'er heard from again. That is, until we went [after him]. We practically had an army going in there ta bring him down! O' course, that was a bit o' a rarity. We didn't always travel in such large [groups].' You say, 'You went after him?' You have been assigned the task 'Ancient Heroes - Lord Nagafen'. Old Man McKenzie says 'Aye, laddie, we! We were the finest group o' madmen ya'd ever seen. Not that we were any better than those that lost, we just happened ta have a bit o' luck on our side. Course ya wouldna' believe me [whole story] if'n I told ya anyhow.' You say, 'Tell me the whole story' From here, you zone into an instanced version of Nagafen`s Lair where you`ll encounter the red dragon, Lord Nagafen. You will find yourself at level 50 wearing some old world armor. Task details needed. After defeating Lord Nagafen, a chest spawns with two items. Known loot (not currently dropping): Cloak of Flames Crown of King Tranix Gauntlets of Fiery Might Mithril Greaves Mithril Vambraces Red Dragon Scale Red Dragonscale Armor Everyone in the task also receives a number of "McKenzie's Special Brew" which is used to buy items from Old Man McKenzie. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

So I'm not sure when certain changes were made, but as of about a month ago they now allow 6 of each class, and you only need 6 to request now. We had 6 in zone when opening the chest, I'm not sure what the requirement on this is, judging from Cowboys comment 6 is the req though.
Getting to Lord Nagafen was definitely most of this mission, not the actual fight. Had numerous unfortunate accidents just getting to the fire giants.
Lord Nagafen is just silly easy if you get him in the little hallway right after the door to his dragon area, we pulled him there, kept our pet casters hidden behind a few layers of wall in the room that had 4 giants in it. This of course was after a terrible wipe trying to hide right behind the wall near the lava :) We did it with me (4 MAG) and 1 other guy (MAG/NEC) boxing 6 toons in mission (others were added, but weren't in mission). Definitely could have done it with 3, but we weren't too interested in testing our monster mission skills :) Which turned out to be a good thing, as he started doing better the last 20-30 % due to laziness of making new pets in time.
One strange note, getting credit for this win was not enough to unlock items. I ended up killing 7 crystallos events some time later, checked vendor, still nothing, got raid again, zoned in, zoned out, all items were now unlocked? >,< What? I may have simply needed to zone into any mackenzie mission for this to happen, but it was still rather odd.

To beat this well I've done with three bots! Only requester has to be flagged...
Beat naggy I couldn't open the chest 8-/
Didn't think to task add at the time and loot but reguardless I box 5 so another go few days later. Added a friend to make one full group!
Chest opened withl 6 memeber of task present at chest.
New items in old man open up plus a bunch of other cool stuff I won't say till you get it done. Enjoy guys.
Ohh on the 3 box win . I had cleric necro magician, terrible Lon fight this way but it is successful. Mag pet necro pet no heal. I just resummon and send em in. Necro pet I cleric buff. Seems to hold his own till I resummon mag pet. Remember I'm not casting anything but pers!! producing no Agro through heals or nukes so no Agro for my casters !! Took 22 mins.

do you have to have the 7 raid wins to get in the zone or just to request
You need 7 to both request and actually enter the instance. You can actually be a body though in a raid to make up one of the 12. I don't know if there's less than 12 in the instance if that affects the raid at all though.
It shows above that only six players required for task. Yet I tried this, with required flags, in a raid, all in the same group, all in PoK with no Joy. Any idea of why i couldn't get the task?

Can you join this raid, even if you don't have the necessary flags posted below? Or does everyone in that need the flags? Or just the person requesting it?

Target the chest, then use /open, or use open hotkey to open chest. Then right click to loot item.
drops from naggy, it do.

So by the looks of the post, just need to be VOid E. 7 of the tasks listed are from the first 5 themes. Going to test this with my mage who got VOid E and see if its true.

Just being level 80 won't allow you to get this task. Even with an average raid level of 81, we were unable to get the task.
We were told that it requires having some number of Solteris raids completed before he will deem you worthy to try the raid.
When you request the task, and you haven't done those raids (not sure what or how many, since I am not flagged for it) he tells you:
"Hrm. I know ya think much of yourself, but ya need to do more ta prove yourself before I tell ya the story."

I 3 boxed naggy and vox until they nerfed the instances.
I have about 30 raid items on my chars waiting the nerf stick :(

Ide like to know the strategies used by the people who do this with 5-10 toons. Specifically Naggy. Getting all the giants cleared isnt that difficult but naggy I havnt figured out.

After the patch you get 2 stacks of 15 brews as the only loot. One in the big chest and one in a small chest that pops when you open the big chest. You need to go to the alt currency tab on your character sheet and select brews and hit reclaim before leaving the mission or you loose it.

The items aquired from the chests can be sold for 15 brews. So worthless ones such as the 4dmg aug can be very valuable as brew.

The chest from this event only lasts 7 minutes. Do loot quick.
Dropped 2x "Mithril Greaves", the 151 ac 950 hp/mana version.
2x McKenzie's Special Brew, some plat and experience are given to the whole raid, and it also unlocks a number of items for sale off Old Man McKenzie.

Lord Nagafen's Horde iirc
We did this last night with 3 groups. Got 2 items in the chest, the plate/chain arms and the plate/chain legs (Runed Mithril i think)
We invised up to the spiders then killed thru the giants to the landing just past the wooden bridge leading to Naggy's lair. It took a bit of doing, but we split out the roamers with Naggy and killed them first. Then we medded up and pulled Naggy down to the landing. We put all melee on Naggy and kept the clerics and shaman hidden around the corner healing the MT.
The Chanter kept him slowed so the shaman could patch heal. The Shammy's need heal smart and let the clerics carry the load early on. Any time they do heal, they need to spam Canni right after, it has an instant recast.
We kept one Pally back to do battle rezzes. As the melee die, we dragged them back, pally rezzed and they ran straight back to the battle.
Towards the end, the Clerics were oom and so was the rez pally. The Pally had full health so he ran forward and took aggro while the shammy's spammed heals on him as we finished him off.
Notes:
* if your rez timer expires, you pop outside in PoK and you have to run back to the raid, as your corpse poofs when you zone.
* Ranger camo works indoors here, so they can help invis people. Move fast, because just like normal, the invis has a tendency to drop unexpectedly.
* giants are belly casters, this includes slows. I rarely had a slow resisted when standing at the giants feet.
