This task begins with General Azerug the Honorable in the City of Dranik (location 1235, -1166 -- To get to him: There are four rooms by the Bloodfields zone; he is located in the northwest room).
Note: You must have at least indifferent faction with "Dragorn Forces" before you're able to request the task. You say, 'Hail, General Azerug the Honorable' General Azerug the Honorable says 'Greetings, _____. Are you good at [exploring], [smashing], and [spying]?' You say, 'Spying' General Azerug the Honorable says 'I had come to an agreement with the Acolytes several days ago, after I was concerned that they were hurting Dranik's defenses by spouting their defeatist philosophy to any who would listen. They would hand out depressing writings, harangue people in the city tunnels until they came away even more depressed and crestfallen, and refuse to do any work for the city or enlist themselves in its defense. They are truly [useless].' You say, 'Useless?' General Azerug the Honorable says 'The only reason I tolerate them in the city is because they are Dragorns, and every Dragorn has a right to come to their senses. In the case of the Acolytes, I would hope that comes sooner rather than later, as I could use every last Dragorn in the city's defense. I fear, however, they might be breaking their [agreement] with me.' You say, 'An agreement?' General Azerug the Honorable says 'Balion, the leader of the Acolytes, assured me he would agree to my demand and refuse to allow anyone in his group to do any preaching as long as Dranik was under attack, and as long as they choose to remain under my protection. But lately, I've heard reports that the Acolytes have started their doomsaying again. It is most infuriating to be lied to. Will you [approach] three of the Acolytes and see if you can get them to preach to you, and give you their literature?' You say, 'I will approach them' General Azerug the Honorable says 'Thank you, _____. That way I will have proof that Balion has been false with me, and I can consider what further steps might be taken.' You have been assigned the task 'Acolytes of Despair'. Go to the rooms where the Acolytes of Despair are each gathered. Speak with three of them, and see if they try to proselytize you with their preachings of hopelessness and defeatism. Deliver any evidence of their untrustworthiness to General Azerug. Find and speak to Acolyte Grindrik 0/1 (City of Dranik) Location: 387, -1534, -191 (in the southeastern room of the same area as the General). You say, 'Hail, Acolyte Grindrik' Acolyte Grindrik says 'Greetings, friend. You must be made aware of the power of the teachings of Balion, who urges us to sing of Despair. We Dragorns, you, all living things must someday meet with destruction. We will meet our destruction on our own terms, not those set by others or by outside forces. Please accept our Hymnal of Despair, and learn to sing of the end of all consciousness.' Your task 'Acolytes of Despair' has been updated. Receive "Hymnal of Despair". Find and speak to Acolyte Torsk 0/1 (City of Dranik) Location: 1365, 790, 107 (in the west room of the cluster of two rooms in the north-central part of the zone) You say, 'Hail, Acolyte Torsk' Acolyte Torsk says 'Hello, newcomer. You are most welcome among the Acolytes of Despair. Hope is lost, and we must consider the ways to end our fate painlessly. The Muramites come to scour our world of life and energy and anything of value, while we have no power to resist. We must make the most of this, and put an end to our pointless consciousness. Here, take one of our Hymnals of Despair and learn more of our beliefs.' Your task 'Acolytes of Despair' has been updated. Receive "Hymnal of Despair". Find and speak to Acolyte Maarnek 0/1 (Old Bloodfields) Location: 1420, -1835, 0. In the far northeastern part of the Old Bloodfields is a cluster of four rooms. He is in the southernmost room. You say, 'Hail, Acolyte Maarnek' Acolyte Maarnek says 'There is inevitability in the fall of Kuua. All worlds will fall to the Muramites and the waves of Discord; there is nothing to be gained by prolonging our hopeless struggle. The end of consciousness must come, so let it come by our own willful action. The Muramites have taken our world, our birthright, even our gods. Within this, our Hymnal of Despair, you will learn the comforting truth of hopelessness.' Your task 'Acolytes of Despair' has been updated. Receive "Hymnal of Despair".
