This is the first event in the raid expedition "Citadel of the Worldslayer".

You'll encounter an insanity mob called "The Mindblight" which greets you as you enter the tower (not in aggro range of the zone-in, but sits in the adjacent room).

WARNING! Once the Mindblight is on someone's aggro, an aura called "Presence of Mind" takes effect on all areas except the event room. You WILL get hit with this if you're in the zone-in area or if you stand too close to the walls in the room:

Presence of Mind
1: Decrease HP when cast by 30000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000 per tick
3: Stun(3.00 sec)

It is a permanent effect while the event is active, so stay inside the room and away from the walls until the Mindblight is dead.

Summary

Attack the Mindblight until it despawns, mez mindgnawer adds, kill the three Mindshear Ooze spawns. Get back on Mindblight when it respawns. Repeat this process three more times (having beaten it down to at least 30%) at which point it stops despawning. Kill the Mindblight while dealing with additional mindgnawer add spawns.

The Mindblight

The Mindblight hits for a max ~14,000 and has no special abilities (does NOT rampage at all, nor does it flurry or enrage). It does NOT summon until it hits 30% health. It does NOT see invisibility. It has an aura called "Brain Drain" which will affect you as long as you're within range (a larger range than melee):

Brain Drain: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Mana by 50 per tick
2: Decrease Endurance by 50 per tick
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 3000 per tick

It also casts a single-target charm:

Gaze of the Mindblight: Single Target, (0)
1: Charm up to level 0

Despawns and Adds

40 seconds after initial aggro or once you drop it to 84% health (whichever comes first), the Mindblight emotes and despawns:

The Mindblight skitters back into the overhanging maw.

3-4 adds called "a mindgnawer" spawn in its place. They hit for a max ~10,000 and cast a mana/hp drain:

Mind Gnaw: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Endurance by 500 per tick
2: Decrease Mana by 500 per tick
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 500 per tick
4: Increase corruption counter by 45

You can kill them by mezzing them (they'll simply despawn).

Shortly after the Mindblight's disappearance, you'll see an emote like this:

The maw in the southeast gurgles and coughs up a drop of ooze.

This indicates that a "Mindshear ooze" is about to spawn in the southeastern quadrant of the room. These oozes cast a spell called "Bloop" as they spawn:

Bloop: PB AE 131', Disease (-500)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 10000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 2000 per tick
3: Stun(7.50 sec)

This spell hits all areas of the room EXCEPT the opposite corner of its spawnpoint. So, if the emote indicates an ooze is about to spawn in the southeastern quadrant and you want to avoid its initial AE, you need to go to the northwestern part of the room (remember not to get too close to the walls).

The Mindshear oozes hit for a max ~12,000; enrage; and summon (no rampage or flurry). You'll have THREE ooze spawns (10-12 seconds apart) for every Mindblight despawn. They'll always give a directional emote shortly before appearing.

Also of note, the oozes cast the spell "Disgusting Goop" as they die:

Disgusting Goop: PB AE 131', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Spell Range by 75%
2: Limit: Combat Skills Not Allowed
3: Decrease Movement by 60%

The Mindblight reappears shortly after the third ooze spawn (it'll appear in the quadrant for which there was no emote) and will remain up for another 40 seconds or so. Repeat this process until the Mindblight hits 30%, at which point it'll stop despawning. (It also starts summoning its target.)

NOTE: You must get it down to at least 30% health before it despawns for a fifth time. If you don't do this, the Mindblight resets to 100% health, restarting the event.

Mindgnawers continue to spawn 2-3 at a time. Kill the Mindblight for the win:

The Mindblight has been slain by _____!

It vanishes (usually without a corpse) and a chest spawns in the center of the room.

hard mindblight drops the distorted coeval essences. Should be added to loot tables.

I'm on Rizlona, and this does not appear to be true anymore. As a matter of fact, Radiant Cure didn't even remove it. I am assuming my epic won't remove it either although I can not 100% verify that.

Just to elaborate more on the above hint/post, it is a very important key to winning the event (if you're a guild that has just started farming Tower).

My guild's strategy on winning Mightblight is to kill the first two blobs, who will a.e. a very nasty snare to everyone in the room (so take off the lev buffs so you can jump around if you catch it).

Once the second blob dies, have your curers RGC the snare effect from the a.e., then have a knight aggro Mindblight (once he respawns) from afar with his best aggro spell so that your dps can focus on not getting aggro, while they wail at MB. Have one of your tanks/warriors offtank the third blob while Mindblight is being DPSed by the main raid force (kill off the third blob during this window), mez the mindgnawers, and return to the center stage.

With this strategy. you should have enough time to dps Mindblight and kill off the blobs in time to prevent them from splitting.

Again, to reiterate the importance of getting that snare off, have your healers use RGC. This is the key to winning the event.

Trivial
# Oct 30 2009 at 7:04 AM Rating: Decent
Once you understand it I have found this event to be trivial. After 8 attempts and never getting this mob below 45% my guild trashed him last night. The key to this event is hvae 4 sk's on the raid.

Basicly avoid the 3 blobs as they spawn have the raid split so that the 3 blobs are being killed by about half the raid and the other half attacks mindblight. Your 4 sk's will take turns using harmtouch initialy and then spamming agro spells from a distance to keep agro for the 40 seconds MB is up. This keeps your dps from dieing in melee range of MB.

it's because your dps wasn't high enough. Make sure you kill those oozes fast... you know if you don't kill the Mindblight in 14 minutes, he resets to 100% health... fyi
