This raid expedition can be requested from each of the four major NPCs in Bloody Kithicor (Firiona Vie, Galeth, Lanys T`Vyl, or Laarthik). It doesn't matter whom you request the raid from.

Task pre-requisites for requesting this raid are some or all of:

Charges of Treason (solo)
Vengeance and Deliverance (solo)
Safe Passage (group)

Destroy the Impostor (solo)
Rain of Ruin (solo)

There are no pre-requisites for participating in the raid.

Opening

With Firiona Vie:

You say, 'Hail, Firiona Vie'

Firiona Vie says 'I have heard of your exploits, and I am grateful beyond my ability to express. I hate to ask more of you, but these are desperate times. I would ask you to do me a personal [favor].'

You say, 'A favor?'

Firiona Vie says 'The final battle with the army of obliteration will soon arrive, and I have had dire visions of what might happen. Galeth would tell me that I am just being foolish, but I have learned to trust my visions. I... I would ask that you find a powerful force of friends and bring them with us to battle. I know I ask much, but this is for Galeth. I fear that he will die on that battlefield. I don't think I could take that.' Firiona looks thoughtful for a moment. 'So I guess I am asking you to do this for me, because Galeth would gladly die for our cause. Can you? Can you build your own army and bring them [to battle] with us?'

You say, 'I'll bring them to battle'

Firiona Vie says 'Thank you so very much! When you have marshaled your forces, come to me and I shall help you [get to] the proper location. Please remember, it is Galeth that I wish protected, my own fate is for the gods to decide.'

You say, 'Help me get to the location'

Firiona Vie says 'And so it begins. May Tunare bless you this day.'

Galeth Veredeth says 'Hello _____. I am glad to see you. Word of your efforts on our behalf have reached me, and I wish you to know that I am grateful. This war takes a toll on Firiona, and your support has eased her burdens slightly. If only there were [many more] like you.'

You say, 'I'll bring many more'

Galeth Veredeth says 'Times grow dark. It will not be long before the battle is joined in earnest and we all must risk ourselves for what we hold dearest. I am not ashamed to admit that it pains me to think that Firiona will soon be involved in such a horrible thing. Perhaps... no, it is too great of a thing to [ask], and I have no right to place any further burden upon you.'

You say, 'Ask'

Galeth Veredeth nods. 'For her sake then, I shall ask. If you can assist us in the upcoming battle, you and the force that you can bring with you, then I would ask you to act as a guard for Firiona. I fear for her, and I begin to doubt my own ability to protect her.' He laughs, a sound tainted with bitterness, 'She is in all ways my superior. I am an old fool to think that I can offer anything useful to her now. But perhaps you can. Can you gather a large force? Will you bring them with us to battle? Will you [swear] your allegiance to Firiona Vie and guard her with your life?'

You say, 'I swear it'

Galeth Veredeth sighs, a fleeting moment of relief allowed to cross his tired, stern face. 'Thank you, _____. The battle begins very soon. Come to me when you are [ready] and we shall step onto the field together and win the day for all that is bright and fair!'

You say, 'Ready!'

Galeth Veredeth says 'May Tunare bless you this day.'

You say, 'Hail, Laarthik V`Shin'

Laarthik V`Shin says 'Things grow frantic and shall soon reach a conclusion. Other than a few worthless traitors that need killing, we are prepared for the final battle. We shall crush the feeble armies of light. For you assistance in preparing for this slaughter, I would offer you a chance to fight with us when the time comes. Of course you alone will be [worthless].'

You say, 'I'm not worthless!'

Laarthik V`Shin says 'Oh, no doubt you are formidable enough, but this is to be a great battle with much power and glory to be gained. If I am to allow you to share in that glory, you will need to bring a [sizable force]. If you are interested, come back with those forces before the battle begins. Death waits for none.'

You say, 'I'll bring a sizable force'

Laarthik V`Shin says 'Good. Hopefully they are nearby, for the battle begins soon. When you are [ready] I shall transport your forces to your assigned area. Destroy the light and darkness will reward you. Otherwise darkness shall be your only reward.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Laarthik V`Shin says 'As you wish. Let your hate guide you.'

You say, 'Hail, Lanys T`Vyl'

Lanys T`Vyl says 'Our [invasion] plans near completion. You're service has not gone unnoticed. There is one great task left for you. Gather your forces, build an army of your own. Bring that army here and I shall allow you to fight at our side. You can have a hand in the final destruction of Firiona and her fools. This does [interest] you, does it not?'

You say, 'This interests me'

Lanys T`Vyl says 'Good. Go, gather your forces. Return here when you are [prepared] for battle and we shall find a place of some honor for you in the upcoming battle. But remember, Firiona is mine. Only I shall be allowed to take her head.'

You say, 'I am prepared'

Lanys T`Vyl says 'Finally. My forces have already arrived on the battlefield. Hurry up and get your people in order and I shall [send] them to their assigned position.'

You say, 'Send me away'

Lanys T`Vyl says 'Go. Let hate have your heart and you can never be defeated.'

Triggering the Event

Upon zoning in:

You hear a voice. No, voice is the wrong term. You hear words. They come directly into your mind, as does a sense of the mind behind the words. It is male, of that you are certain. It is also completely alien to you. Sanity wars with fragments of chaos, pain and torment in this mind, and you suspect that none may ever claim victory. The words you are given are simple, full of hope and fear. 'You must keep it as it was. For all of our sakes, do not allow them to change what has already happened. To do so means the end of everything.'

Upon moving west from your location, the event begins:

Lord Tephys shouts 'By the grave of the Mother, you will be stopped! Heed my words, Child of Hate. Your cursed army shall go no further.'

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'Tephys, you old fool! Your hatred for me only spurs me on. It proves the far-reaching strength of my father! However, the contempt you hold for me is nothing compared to the loathing I have for you and your kind. Prepare to feel the full force of Hate itself!'

This starts an eight minute timer.

Part 1: Kyv Assassins

Lanys T`Vyl and Lord Tephys pair off; as do Laarthik V`Shin and Galeth Veredith. Firiona stands back from the two fights.

Soon after the battle begins, three kyv assassins spawn on one of the parties. Who they attack and assist is random. They are:

Assassin Rasven (hits ~5,000; single-target rampages; AE rampages; enrages)
Assassin Vacklun (hits ~5,000; enrages)
Assassin Ythalym (hits ~5,000; flurries; enrages)

Balance your DPS on the kyvs so they're within 5% of each other. If they fall out of balance the two lower health kyvs will regen to the point of the higher one:

Assassin Vacklun reverses space and time, duplicating the healthier body of a nearby ally to negate his wounds.

Once the kyvs hit 75% health, they despawn and respawn on one of the parties. Beat them down to 50%, and they'll despawn/respawn again. Beat them down to 25%, and they'll despawn again. This time they respawn and spread themselves among the parties. They are gone for good once killed.

Part 2: Aneuk Ritualists

At the end of the eight minute timer mentioned above (regardless of your status with the kyvs), you'll see the following:

A flash of dark magic lights the forest for a moment, followed by a shriek of hate as Lanys strikes down Lord Tephys.

Lord Tephys has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!

A low chanting begins to fill the forest. . .

Appearing northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast of the main event are four aneuks each (for a total of 16). These are 3 of the 4 map coordinates:

At each location is 1x "a discord priest" and 3x "a discord ritualist". The aneuks don't hit overly hard (~6,000), but have some pretty tough AEs. They all cast "Ritual Sacrifice":

And only the ritualists cast these:

Dark Energy: Single Target, Chromatic (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 6000 per tick
2: Increase corruption counter by 8
3: Unknown #377 (100/17004/0) (VIRAL; will spread to other players)

Discordant Frost: PB AE 60', Cold (-500)
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 50%
2: Inhibit Melee Attacks by(50%)
3: Decrease Movement by 25%
4: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000 per tick

Fire of Discord: PB AE 60', Fire (-500)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 8000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000 per tick

The aneuks are not KOS and will tether if you pull them too far away from their spawnpoint.

Basically you need to kill all of these aneuks as soon as possible. Every 60-70 seconds you will see an emote:

A dark energy begins to build to the southwest of the combatants. (can be any of the four directions)

Once this directional emote is seen, the indicated foursome of aneuks begins siphoning away one of the combatants' health and continue to do so until they are killed.

Brothers! Prepare this one for sacrifice! Perhaps then he will not be such a nuisance.

The ritualists distort space and time, prematurely aging one of the participants of the Battle of Bloody Kithicor.

Lanys T`Vyl shouts 'What sorcery is this? I feel so weak . . . and so weary.'

The combatants can tolerate 14-17 of the above emotes before it kills them. If that happens, the task fails:

With the death of Lanys T`Vyl the history of Norrath is swept in a new direction. Seeing her death, the agents of discord break off the attack and disappear into the mists as Firiona moves to assist Galeth in finishing Laarthik.

(You'll be booted from the zone.)

NOTE: A patch on September 15, 2009, included: "The groups of Ritualist NPCs in the War of Bloody Kithicor raid will no longer wither the storyline NPCs so long as all the NPCs in that group have aggro on players."

Part 3: General Bahgresh

If you manage to kill the three kyvs and 16 aneuks before they're able to kill Firiona or Lanys, you'll see this:

The attacks of Firiona Vie begin to wear down Lanys. Grimly defending herself she calls out, 'Laarthik, please help me!'

Hearing Lanys' call for help, Laarthik breaks through Galeth's defenses and lands a vicious blow to his head with the pommel of his sword.

Laarthik reaches beneath his breastplate and pulls out a large glowing blue sphere. The presence of the sphere causes the air of the forest to hum and resonate. Holding it aloft, Laarthik cries out, 'Innoruuk! In the name of Lanys T'Vyl, I beseech you! Attend her!'

As the last word leaves Laarthik's mouth the forest and all the combatants appear to freeze. Dust and leaves hang in the air without falling as a thing of nightmares appears. . .

General Bahgresh shouts 'You are fools to oppose us! Even your servants turn against you at our approach!'

A nekhon named General Bahgresh appears and attacks. He hits for a max ~10,000; single-target rampages; AE rampages (full damage); enrages; and casts the spells "Dark Contagion", "Disorienting Shock", and "Shadow Blight":

Bahgresh shouldn't be too big a problem if you were able to get through the aneuks.

General Bahgresh has been slain by _____!

As movement resumes again throughout the forest, the blue orb in Laarthik's hand flashes and releases its energy. . .

The screams of ten thousand damned souls fills the forest as an immeasurable power opens a rift in the astral barrier. The energy coming from the orb quickly tears Laarthik apart as the power of Innoruuk enters the forest.

Lanys tosses her head and laughs as her body is ignited in crimson flame and drawn into the rift by the Prince of Hate. As the rift closes behind her a tremendous roar rises up from the very heart of Norrath.

Firiona stares in dismay and shock at the vanishing rift. Overcome with terror she shouts, 'Flee! Flee for your lives! Doom approaches!'

Firiona Vie says 'This is a portent of death! None can survive the hate Innoruuk will cast up on us!'

Firiona helps her fallen mentor, Galeth, to his feet. Together they flee the forest just before a wave of hopelessness and dread drains the life out of all left in the forest.
