This quest begins with Sarkis Ebonblade in the Efreeti room of the Plane of Sky.

You say, 'Hail, Sarkis Ebonblade'

Sarkis Ebonblade says 'Greetings, ______. Have you come here to test your dark powers of skill and spell casting?'

You say, 'I want to test my dark powers.'

Sarkis Ebonblade says 'You will be tested by either Gragrot or Tynicon. Choose one!'

You say, 'I wish to be tested by Gragrot.'

Sarkis Ebonblade says 'Gragrot it is! Take this book and read it. When you are finished, hand it back to me and I shall summon Gragrot to test you.'

You receive a book (which?). Give it back to Sarkis Ebonblade.

Sarkis Ebonblade says 'Farewell.'

Gragrot says 'I am here to do your bidding, Shadowknight Spirit!'

Sarkis Ebonblade says 'Till next time! Farewell!'

You say, 'Hail, Gragrot'

Gragrot says 'Hail! So you think you are a mighty Knight of Shadows? We must test these skills. Are you ready to begin the test? Or do you think you have already proof of your deeds?'

You say, 'I am ready to begin the test.'

Gragrot says 'Great, let us waste no more time! I offer to you three challenges. Bash, smash, or slash? What do you wish to be tested in?'

You say, 'I wish to be tested in slash.'

Gragrot says 'Gragrot see you is powerful, but Gragrot wonders if you is good at slashin'. Gragrot says return with a diaphanous globe, a piece of dried leather, and a finely woven cloth belt. Gragrot then give you pegasus hide belt.'

Turn in the Diaphanous Globe, Dried Leather and Finely Woven Cloth Belt to receive your Pegasus-Hide Belt.

When you say "tested by Gragrot", Sarkis Ebonblade gives you the book "Shadowy Virtues". Reading it is optional. When you hand the book back to Sarkis, he poofs and Gragrot spawns next to him.

When you hand in the three quest items to Gragrot:

Gragrot says 'Take this belt with the blessing of Veeshan, ______.'

This ridiculous quest, all the Sky quests should be removed. The only toon that might want this belt would be well under the level required to get to Sky.

soo, you're level 46 characters have better than 41% haste? The Sky quests are still pretty awesome actually. better than all that flagging garbage we have to do with each new expansion. There are TONS of gear up here that are usable way past 50, and alot of rangers still use the Windstriker at 85 for stuns. those few rare rangers that have it. don't dis Sky just because you can't do it.

Don't try to MQ these items using characters on the same account. When you spawn the Quest mobs they only stay up for 2 min. and that's usually not enough time to switch from one character to the next anymore since they dont allow you to type /camp while you're in trade windows now.

Fight?
# Sep 22 2002 at 12:29 AM Rating: Decent
At first, I thought there'd be a fight, but there is not.

Got mine tonight. :)

Btw, I saw that A diaphonous Globe & Dried Leather are sometimes sold in Bazaar (globe was only 500pp & dried leather 1K.) And the Finely Woven Cloth Belt can be MQ'd (Spiroc Lord dropped it for me when we were farming him for warrior piece--we killed him 8times total I believe and it dropped once)

Good luck!

P.S. Error in post below, you do not go to the portal the key master is facing...you go to the one on the left of the one he is facing.

Quest Details?

Could someone provide:

1) Which NPC must you hail to begin this quest
and which zone is this Npc located (loc would
be great)?

2) Once you get all three items, what do you do
with them?

3) If after getting all three items, you turn
them in then

Who is the Npc you turn them into and
what zone is the Npc located in?
(approximate LOC would be great)

4) What minimum level should you attempt this?

Many Thanks in Advance!

Ok.

Simply put. You get the 3 pieces, and then find a wizard who can go into Erudin, and buy a Cloudy Stone of Veeshan (should set you back about 120pp or so), he can then port you up to the first island in Sky. Go to the Keymaster (the dwarf in plate), and buy a Veeshan's Key (looks like a piece of jade) and costs 1cp.

Turn around to the direction he is facing and head for that portal. Holding the key you just bought, click on the portal (if you don't know how this all works by now, you have not spent enough time in Sky). You'll be transported to the quest room.

Find the Djinn named Sarkis Ebonblade. Hail him. Follow the painfully obvious quest instructions to get the quest-giver Gragrot to spawn. Sarkis will despawn, and Gragrot will spawn. Hand him the 3 items (the Diaphonous Globe, Piece of Leather, Finely Woven Cloth Belt). You will bet a fair hunk of XP and the best haste an SK can get.

Eventually, he'll despawn, and Ebonblade will respawn. I waited until now to let you know because I just turned my 3 pieces in.

Now, as to the 46+? No, 50+ is the best level to go to Sky. Deal with Fear and Hate for a while, Sky is like no other zone in the game at this writing (pre Planes of Power). Go with some guild who really knows the islands well, leadership, and people following instructions is KEY to Sky.

Oh, and don't expect to turn anything in until after several raids guys. It takes a while to collect all the pieces.

I got the finely woven cloth belt off the 14 Spiroc Lord. Didn't think he was going to drop it. But that seems to be about the norm from what I have read.

I had all three itmes and like a fool handed them to Sarkis. You need to spawn the troll and get him to give you the quest. Then turn the items into the troll.

a piece of dried leather - an answer maybe?
# Oct 22 2001 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
I've been scouring the net for a while trying to find out if the "Dried Leather" is the same as "a dried piece of leather" and today I got my answer (I hope)

I was killing Kobolds in Velks Lab and after getting 8 Paws I decided to head to Kael Drakkal and hand them in. I received a Silvery Mask, HP +25, Effect: Identify.

I decided to grab my piece of dried leather and I identified it, it identified as "Dried Pegasus Hide"!

So yes, the chances are "a piece of dried leather" is the same as "Dried Leather" =)

I'm heading to Air in a few days, all I need is a Diaphanous Globe to finish the quest (that is, if the "Finely Woven Cloth Belt" is MQable (I hope)) and I'll post here immediately after finding out =)

41%

# Dec 29 2000 at 8:23 PM Rating: Default
How did you come upon this value? I've seen a lot of discrepancies on other items, in the past, and was just curious.

Thanks for the feedback!
RE: Haste Value
# Jun 09 2002 at 1:48 PM Rating: Default
People can use a program to parse their logs... Or do them by hand. Turn everything on (misses, etc) and attack for 1 minute, then check your logs and see how many times you swung your weapon (including the misses). Then equip the haste item, attack for 1 minute, then go check your logs again and count up how many times you swung your weapon.

Bust out a calculator, and get crackin! When you divide the differences, you'll end up with the approx amount of haste the item has ;)
RE: Haste Value
# Jun 11 2002 at 2:15 AM Rating: Decent
That wouldnt really work unless either 1) you never double attack, or 2) the program can tell which attacks are double attacks. Might be possible to tell two but wouldnt be real easy.

The most reliabe (and fairly easy) way to test haste is by using bash for SK's (kick, backstab work well for other classes). You can time (preferably with a stop watch of some sort) the amount of time between when you click on the bash button and when it becomes available to click again. Do this several times without the haste item on and average them. Then do the same with the haste item equiped. Take the faster (smaller) number and divide it by the slower number. Then take that number and subtract it from 1 and that will give you the percentage of Haste the item has. Hope this helps.

Question
# Sep 18 2000 at 12:30 AM Rating: Default
Any reason the sk belt has 2 less AC then the Paladin belt? Seems sort of odd
RE: Question
# Dec 05 2000 at 12:25 PM Rating: Decent
Once again it seems Sk's get it up the (you know)..I completed the quest and yes, it is a nice belt, but why is it that even after lev 45 they make it harder to play a Sk, to get this high in level especially a de sk takes talent and alot of hard work, but still they seem to think we should be limited, very disappointing...I guess they feel we are not true tanks, or pullers, i just wish they would think about how hard they make it on us, low ac = a burden to a group or a half *** puller (don't get me started on our Fd abilities, ie the delay on our spell)../shrug...They won't get me down though, my skills will still make me a great player !!!

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 15 2001 at 2:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) id rather have a monk pulling and a warrior tanking then 6 sks helping.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 29 2001 at 4:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That's a good indication of why you suck and will probably never get past level 10.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 26 2001 at 1:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I normally don't get involved in this kind of chat, but I have to agree. Most groups i have been prefer having me (a ShadowKnight), over a tank. Can a Warrior or Monk fear away mobs when too many adds pop up? Can they taunt better without DoT spells? At 30, the ShadowKnight becomes one of the most lethal tanks. Go back to denial were you belong.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 03 2001 at 12:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am a 52 monk atm and was a SK(50) so I know whattup. Now you ask anyone who is a common person in game an OGre SK is the most effective tank in game. I always git compliments from rogues mainlyy about how I hold the taunt so effectivly and then that I am an ogre helps cause I have ALOT of hp and my Ac is always solid cause I have a shield. So yes sometimes a warrior is better but good god give the props up to SKs...But seriously ogre/sk=tank eru or De/sk=waste of time...LOL it is truth
RE: Question
# Oct 19 2001 at 1:04 AM Rating: Default
DE SKs aren't bad, they are no ogres but they have their strengths:
A: They look cool
B: Where we lack in hp, and the stun from the front racial ability that ogres have, we make up for with our high intelligence. Sure you can raise it via item, but not nearly as much as base int, we use this mana to constantly use taps/shrouds and various other spells that buff us and debuff the mob, while constantly pulling. As far as FD pulling goes, 100 mana is alot to a 60 ogre SK, and they can only do it so much, then they need a mana break.
C:DE SKs always win duels, atleast I have =D
RE: Question
# Sep 26 2001 at 10:01 AM Rating: Good
not sure about what class won the BotB on your server but on drinal a DE totally owned an ogre SK from one of the "UBER" guilds. quite a shame because the ogre was the main thats always played and the DE was a retired

it doesnt matter what race you are or what class its how you use what you got
RE: Question
# Aug 30 2003 at 11:42 PM Rating: Default
Actually, not to flame or anything, but whoever said Dark Elf SKs have it bad, has never played a Troll anything. If you think you have it hard, look at it this way: For every mob YOU kill as a DE SK, I, as a Troll, have to kill 3 to get as much XP as you got. And yes, I've heard the arguments about the different races good points, but having a little extra health regen does not make up for the fact that Trolls are the slowest XP gainers in the game. I have proven it over and over again. Took 1 year to get past lvl 40. So anytime you think you have it bad, look back on this and re-think that thought.
