This quest involves collecting the Gem of Stamina and the Gem of Rightousness, then turning them in to a named orc in South Ro. Plan to spend a good few solid hours doing this quest and walking around the continents of Faydwer and Antonica.

Gem of Stamina

1. Go to the Temple of Solusek Ro. Find Lon the Redeemed at +553, -17. Hail him and tell him 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.' He will give you a sealed note to deliver.

You say, 'Hail, Lon the Redeemed' (Works even at dubious)

Lon the Redeemed says 'Welcome, friend. I am one of the redeemed. I once walked the path of evil and woe. My talents were those of the House of V'ree of Neriak. I now serve the Burning Prince. Are you a [rogue in need of redemption] also?'

You say, 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.'

Lon the Redeemed says 'Then, so be it. Ro commands you to aid the saved one, Ortallius of the hot sands. He is in need of two gems, the Gem of Stamina, also known as the Gem of Passion, and the Gem of Righteousness. I once owned these gems in my former life. They rest with my old friend, [Conium Darkblade]. Take this note to him and he shall give you the gems which you will then take to Ortallius. Be off.'

You say, 'Who is Conium Darkblade?'

Lon the Redeemed says 'When evil ruled my life, I hid in the shadows with a fellow thief. This dwarf's name was Conium Darkblade. He was a genius when it came to poisons. I believe he now taints this world with his evil toxins. No doubt he hides near his homeland.'

2 Make your way to Conium Darkbalde, a dwarf on the center island in Dagnor's Cauldron (location: -235, -829). Hail him if and talk to him a bit if you'd like. Hand him the sealed note from Lon the Redeemed. He will give you a 1H Slash weapon named 'Never Stop Chopping.'

You say, 'Hail, Conium Darkblade'

Conium Darkblade says 'You seek Conium Darkblade, do you? Often I am here. To test my [wasp poison], yes. Fewer aqua gobs there now are. Ha!! A true rogue am I with no leader or guild. Just the wind and shadows and much treasure to be had.'

Conium Darkblade says 'So Lon has sworn allegiance to a temple. What a fool, but he is a skilled fool. My word is my bond and if he asks for the gem, then so be it. Unfortunately I traded it for a much-needed axe. It was in the middle of a dungeon and.. well, that is a long story. If you want to get the gem, take this axe back to the [one who once owned it].'

You say, 'Who is the one who once owned it?'

Conium Darkblade says 'The human who gave me the axe remains nameless. We were separated during the battle. If he ever got out of there with all his gold, I do not know. The only clue I know of is the axe itself. The words 'Top of the World' were once printed on its handle.'

3. This is a two-part step. The first part is to pay a visit to Falyn Farreach (location: +238, +628, +40). He is in High Pass Hold, in the back room of 'Top of the World' building in the far left corner of the zone.

You say, 'Hail, Falyn Farreach'

Falyn Farreach says 'Welcome to Top of the World, the newest shop in the pass!'

You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Falyn Farreach says ''Never stop chopping?!!' Hey! I engraved that on a special order for a fellow Highpass citizen. I can't remember his name. He gave me not only some rare gems for it, but also a case of something called 'Lumberjack Pale Ale.' Great stuff!!'

Now head to a bar named the Lumberjack, located a bit south of the entrance to High Keep. You'll find Brian McGee on the balcony on the second floor (-242, +90), next to an ogre named Beef (heh). Give him the Never Stop Chopping axe, and he'll give you a Bottle Crate, which you'll need to fill with 10 different liquors (detailed in the next step).

You say, 'Hail, Bryan McGee'

Bryan McGee says 'I do not know what you are doing up here, but I am a busy man. Please return to the bar downstairs and enjoy the atmosphere.'

Beef says 'Gets moving before me smash yu to pulp!!'

You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Bryan McGee says 'Hey!! You must be the one I traded my axe to. Funny.. I thought you were much shorter. If you have my axe I will return your gem to you. Well..? Let's have it!'

Hand him the axe.

Bryan McGee says 'On second thought.. You can do a little favor for me first. An associate of mine has asked me to acquire a case of spirits for him. Take this box and seek out what is needed to fill it. Inside you will combine the spirits of Lendel's Grand Lager, Gator Gulp Ale, Blackburrow Swig, Tunare's Finest, Underfoot Triple Bock, Frozen Toe Rum, Blood Spirit, Vasty Deep Ale, Clockwork Oil Stout and the legendary..[Oblong Bottle].'

Beef says 'BWAHAHA HA!! Yoo werk fer Mister Axe now. Hehehe!!'

You say, 'What is an Oblong Bottle?'

Bryan McGee says 'The oblong bottle is a legend. They say one drink and you're off to oblivion, but just before that you feel the best you've ever felt and relive all your finest memories in the blink of an eye. The last I heard, some guy by the name of Turgin Swillfod turned up in Freeport spouting that he had found it. He was never heard from again.'

4. You may want to have an enduring breath item ready for this step, as it will involve some swimming underwater. The following drinks are needed:

Purchase:
Tunare's Finest - Wela Muselender, Felwithe, +100, -343
Underfoot Triple Bock - Tumpy Irontoe, South Kaladim (Irontoe's Eats), +178, +317
Lendel's Grand Lager - Mac Deeppockets, Rivervale (Fool's Gold), -60, -190
Gator Gulp Ale - Bubar, Commonlands (tunnel), -1591, -2696
Frozen Toe Rum - Scon McDaniel, Halas (McDaniel's Smokes & Spirits), +340, -348
Vasty Deep Ale - Cleonae Kalen, Ocean of Tears (Sister Island), +501, -9250

Find:
The Oblong Bottle - ground spawn, Ocean of Tears, now found in ruin on top of hill/mountain on Seafury Cyclops Island, inside a small stone ruin, +2325, -2855

Loot:
Clockwork Oil Stout - pickpocket this from a CWG Model CX (gnome robot) in Solusek's Eye (aka Sol A).
Blood Spirit - dropped from 'a hemo enologist,' a female Teir'Dal in Castle Mistmoore at location -63, +164.

a hemo enologist says 'Do not underestimate the might of Mistmoore!'

blackburrow gnoll skin x 4
Ol' Tujim's Fierce Brew x 2 - brewed in a brew barrel, trivial at 135: cask, barley, malt, yeast, hops (all purchased in PoK from Sirekoth Eshe).

Combine all the drinks in the Bottle Crate to create a Case of Spirits.

5. Turn the Case of Spirits in to Bryan McGee to receive the Gem of Stamina.

Bryan McGee says 'I cannot believe you actually acquired all those drinks!! You do good work, kid. Here is the gem as I promised. And a few plat for good measure. Don't let it be said that the Axe doesn't treat his friends right.'

Gem of Righteousness

1. Go to the slums of East Freeport and enter a building called Hallar's Resale. The Gem Case is a ground spawn on the first floor, and looks like a little bag or it can be found on the Second floor in the room with the beds. It is not a container, however, so it may be placed in a backpack.

2. Travel to the western Commonlands and seek out Noresa Sparkle, and be sure to bring approximately 550 PP with you. She is located in a hut near Befallen (approximately -705, +258). Target and hail her.

You say, 'Hail, Noresa Sparkle'

Noresa Sparkle says, 'He.. Hello. Wou.. would you like to buy something? Be quick or [Kizdean] will return!'

You say, 'Who is Kizdean?'

Noresa Sparkle says, '(whispering)..'Sshhh..Please..save me. Get..rid..of..him.''

While you're there, purchase a single sparking sapphire from her. You'll need it a bit later for another part of the quest, and can be a bit costly (510-540 PP or so, depending on charisma).

Find Kizdean Gix and kill him. Though he can wander the zone, he's typically found not far from the Freeport Militia guard hut near the border with Commonlands (approximately -175, +260). Kill him and loot 'A Sealed Note.' It tells you the location of your next victim.

You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix'

Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!'

Kizdean Gix says 'I shall show you the pure fury of the Dead!!'

You have slain Kizdean Gix!
Your faction standing with The Dead got worse.
Your faction standing with Queen Cristanos Thex got worse.
Your faction standing with King Naythox Thex got better.
Your faction standing with Keepers of the Art got better.
Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective got better.
Your faction standing with Primordial Malice got better.
Kizdean Gix's corpse says 'Soon you shall learn the extent of the Dead's power. Vengeance shall be theirs.'

3. Visit Toxdil, a Teir'Dal poison vendor in East Freeport, at the far back room in the walls of the Arena, /loc +905, -415.

You say, 'Hail, Toxdil'

Toxdil says 'Correct, Toxdil is my name. No last name. I swear allegiance to no house nor guild. What brings you down here? Perhaps you seek my [deadly liquid], perhaps not. Whatever your reasons, I warn you to keep an eye out for the militia. They have begun to patrol the sewers.'

You say, 'I seek the gem of righteousness.'

Toxdil says 'That gem is worthless!! If you want it, you can have it. Oh, but I forgot! I sold it to some gem merchant. I can't seem to remember her name, but she paid highly for it. Ha!! Imagine that. Worthless hunk of crystal. Do not bother looking for it.'

Give him the sapphire that you purchased from Noresa.

Toxdil says 'The gem!! I would notice its sparkle anywhere!! I cannot believe you are handing it back to me!! What a fool. Here you are, fool. You can have this worthless key now.'

You receive A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 2").

4. Go to Solusek's Eye (aka Sol A) by means most convenient to you. I would advise sneak/hiding around to avoid having the goblins pile on you. Search out and destroy Lynada the Exiled at location -999, -654, a Teir'Dal magician. She is of a relatively low level, so her spells are easily resistible. Loot a sparkle purse. Her faction is with the goblins here, on the Goblins of Fire Peak and Tribe Vrodak.

5. Hobble back to Noresa in Commonlands. Give her the sparkle purse, and she'll give you A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 1").

Noresa Sparkle says 'Oh!!! Thank you. You are my hero. I have been held captive by that horrid dark elf for weeks. Please take this. It was the key to a [gem case] which was stolen from me by an unseen rogue. If you find the gem case you can take it and the key to the original craftsman. He can open it with only two keys.'
You gain experience!!

6. Head to the tunnel of Commonlands (near the LDoN NPCs). Visit a human by the name of Bubar (/loc?).

You say, 'Hail, Bubar'

Bubar says 'Greetings, friend! I am Bubar, merchant from the burning sands. You must be thirsty or, perhaps, hungry. Please look over my goods.'

You say, 'What gem case?'

Bubar says 'Talking of containers? I do not make containers any longer. Provisions are much more profitable. Do you have one of my containers? Most likely you have locked yourself out then. My specialty was the three-lock case. They always lose one of the keys. Hand me the case and at least two of the keys and I can open it for you.'

Give him both tiny keys and the gem case.

Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'
Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'
Bubar says 'Mmmph!!.. *Pop!!* Ouch, my thumb!! Here you are. You had a gem inside.'
You gain experience!

You receive Sparkling Sapphire (identifies as "Gem Of Righteousness").

Now that you have both the Gem of Stamina and the Gem of Rightousness, you'll need to turn them in to Ortallius. He's found in South Desert of Ro (South Ro) in the southern section along the west wall , at location +1266, -325. Once you turn in both gems, he'll give you the Burning Rapier.

You say, 'Hail, Ortallius'

Ortallius says 'Welcome to the lands of Ro. Stand and fight with me. We shall fight to reclaim the desert in the name of Solusek Ro. Death to all [dervish cutthroats]!!'

Ortallius says 'I was instructed to wait for two gems.'

Ortallius says 'You serve the Burning Prince as I do. The Redeemed has instructed me to give you this reward upon completion of your test. Practice your arts and prepare yourself. Evil approaches our realm. Long live Ro!!'
Your faction standing with Temple of Solusek Ro has been adjusted by 25.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!
You receive 4 platinum from Ortallius.

Just so others know, yes the Bottle is NO DROP. You have to pick it up yourself. It kind of floats in the water at the coordinates listed in the quest discription. I believe it is also LORE so that you cannot have more than one.

Something wrong with BR quest or me??
# Oct 27 2001 at 2:20 PM Rating: Default
I finished gathering the crate and got back the Gem of Stamina, everything fine there.
I got the gem case behind the locked door in basement of shop in slums. One key from Noresa after I gave her the sparlking purse and the other key after from Toxidil after I gave him 'sparkling sapphire'. Took the 2 keys and gem case to Bubar EC tunnel. Gave them to him, he opened the gem case and gave me a gem. I gained good XP and I thought everything was great. I examined the gem he gave me, expecting the Gem of Rightousness but he gave me back a 'sparkling saphire' that has a class restriction of paladins only!?!? I had already given Toxidil the sparkling saphire bought from Noresa for 544pp to get the gem case key. Any one else seen this??
I petitioned and was told I may hear back from them in 3-5 days?

The sparkling saphire given to you by Bublar is the Gem of Righteousness. They have a name problem. It works. If you wish to verify it, put it in your cursor, and have a wizzy cast identify on you. I petitioned a GM and that's what they told me to do, and it worked. Gratification at last ;)

How much dmg does this proc do and is this quest Multi-task able?
RE: Effect
# Nov 08 2001 at 2:52 PM Rating: Default
The proc is a 37dd and the quest IS multi-task-able. Here's a brief outline on how to do it:
1)Have your main start off the quest and get all the drinks; turn them in for the gem of stamina and keep it on your main for now.
2)Have your main kill Lynada and give the purse to Noressa for one of the keys.
3)Get the gem case and keep the key and the case on your main.
4)Switch over to your twink, buy the saphire from Noressa and turn it in to Toxdil for the other key.
5)Have your main turn in the gem case and his key to Bubar; quickly switch to your twink and turn in the other key for the gem of righteousness.
6)Have your main turn in the gem of stamina to Ortallius; quickly switch to your twink and turn in the gem of stamina for the burning rapier. The end.
Skins or pelts?
# Oct 09 2001 at 3:50 PM Rating: Default
I was confused about the BB skins, i camped elite room for about an hour, i got 5 or so bb pelts, heavy and dark black pelts, non stack, i wasnt sure if they were they right items i needed, or i need "skins" also it says gnoll scalps from pups in the instructions... i have 2 gnoll pup scalps, is that right or do i need regular gnoll scalps? Thanks

1) Do NOT get the Blackborrow Gnoll Pelts. The pelts do NOT work. Make sure the ones you get are Blackborrow Gnoll SKINS.

2) You need the gnoll pup scalps. So you have 2 of them and you're good to go. Get the Skins though.

Sonofa...

I was so damn excited when I looted a few gnoll PELTS. Maybe I'll be able to buy some SKINS.If I spend another night in Black Burrow killing elites and commanders, I think I'll go insane.

i have got the 4 bb skins but when i try to put then in the bottle crate it says they are too big to fit in their...why is that?
RE: big problemo
# Oct 02 2001 at 10:04 PM Rating: Decent
They don't go in the bottle crate. In fact, keep the bottle crate in the bank, and put your liquors in it when you retrieve them. The Blackburrow Cask is what you place the skins, scalps, and Fierce Brew in.
FIRST GEM IS EASY!
# Sep 29 2001 at 6:43 PM Rating: Default
OK the first gem of this quest is EASY!!!!! i did it at lvl 10, with the help of sum random plp.
I bought the first 6 beers just running around to the citys i needed to. i went into MM H/S works on all the MOBS. i just got sum1 to let me loot 1 of the 3 bottles on her. i went over to OOT and got levitate, SoW, and enduring breath, swan out got the bottle then went over to sis island bought the beer than came back to bro island and caught the boat. i bought the stout off of a gnome merchant, and im almost done with the blackburrow stuff, the other gem u only hafta kill the 1 MOB which is fairly hard but u just really need that 550p, this quest isnt as hard as u would think.

You can purchase the fierce brew from Innkeep Palola in freeport. She is in the shop next to the pottery wheel in FP market.

You cannont purchase this beer from Inkeep Palola in Freeport. The only thing I can figure out is that you bought it from here after she bought it from another player.

I'm sitting right behind here and I can say with 100% assurance that she DOES NOT SELL IT.

It's a player created brew.

It's in Highpass Hold. I can't remember if it has a sign that says Top of the World or not, but it didn't take me too long to find. I think it may be the bar in the Golden Rooster, but I may be wrong. Anyway, don't worry if you can't find it. You can skip that part of the quest and go right to Bryan at the Lumberjack. Good luck.
Rogue Redemption Editorial for Dark Elves
# Sep 17 2001 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I just finished the quest last night and it's well worth it. Not only did I get the Rapier but I also leveled because of the experience. If you're an Dark Elf Rogue, however, the quest is a pain in the ***. Too many places where you're KoS. So, since I'm a Dark Elf Rogue who completed this quest, I wanna give you my feedback on this whole matter.

Gem of Stamina

First off, if you're evil, Sneak/Hide is your best friend. An Enchanter is ALSO your best friend. I bought 3 of the bottles and he bought the other 2. No big deal. Just watch your step and let someone who isn't KoS get the stuff. Beware of Halas, they WILL jump you severely as well as Rivervale, lest you've worked up your faction.

Keep in mind that if your swimmin' is low, it won't be after this quest. The Oblong Bottle is easy to find. Coordinates are listed as above, HOWEVER if you don't dive all the way to the bottom, you won't see the floor and thus you won't see the bottle. Enchanter can give you Endurin' Breath to facilitate this quest. I swam from the spot to Sister Isle and took the boat back to Free. Great swimmin' gains. Back to the quest.

Your trips to Sol A will be the most difficult. It's run by Goblins and Gnomes. Both will jump on you with the quickness. You can find someone to help you get there. If they can cast a levitate, GET IT. I had to swim through the god damn lava while sneakin', somethin' that these guides don't tell ya. If your swimmin' sucks, that lava is gonna burn like hell. I nearly got killed by the lava and when I unhid, I nearly got killed by the gnomes. I couldn't pick from the Clockwork but I got someone to kill the CX model. Careful though, a lot of its model friends walk into the room and will try to jump you and/or heal the CX model.

Blood Spirits was a hard bottle to get. It's not a rare drop, it's just that Mistmoore is a VERY dangerous place. At least there, EV'RYONE is KoS. No discrimination. The Hemo Enologist is INSIDE the castle around the courtyard area with a good amount of other mobs. To the people that said she was Lvl 30, two thin's, 1) You're either lyin', or 2) You haven't conned her in years. She's a lvl 32 mob. She conned black to me at lvl 32 but e'en then she's severely underconned. She hits hard and has VERY HIGH resistance to stuff. Get a warrior or a melee person to snuff her out and the bottle is yours. It ALWAYS drops. Also, while you're in Mistmoore, try to get the Noble's Robe. It drops off one of the regular mage mobs. It's a common drop AND it sells around for 500pp. That with the money I saved up payed for the cask, the skins, AND the gem.

As for the Blackborrow Swig, get it last. You don't wanna have it and drink it by accident because you confused it for Ol TJ's Fierce Brew. BTW, Dark Elves, you can BUY the Fierce Brew at the bar that's above where Darien Felton And ChonChon are. You're better off buyin' all this junk. The Cask I bought for 85pp, I got the Skins for about 15pp each (ripped off I know) and I got 2 skins on my own. The people there usually sell the cask cheap just to get money. After all it IS a newbie dungeon. The skins drop off the Elite, the High Gnoll Shaman, and the Commander. Do NOT confuse the Skins for the pelts. They LOOK the same but they aren't.

Turn them in, you get 6pp and GOOD exp. If he's KoS to you, sneak/hide. You should do this quest when you're in lvl 30 to get through Hell lvl.

Gem of Righteousness.

All that junk with dealin' with Kizdean Giz and all that, forget it. Not worth killin' a Dark Elf brother. Besides, Noresa's no big deal. She can handle her own affairs.

Back to Sol A we go. Good thin' it's close to Neriak. Lynada is a Dark Elf who's aligned to Goblins. The treasonous wench must die, there's no way around it. She spawns all the way in the High Shaman room. She's not tough, per se, but the guards around her are annoyin'. Her magic is pretty hard to. At least the con is correct...somewhat. Also, keep in mind that Sol A is not usually a packed dungeon so she may be around, buffed like hell, but she's there. Got a nice Troll Warrior to pull her out while we killed her. She drops the purse. It's no drop. Pick it up.

Now the quest gets SO easy. Make sure you have your money ready. Now keep this in mind after you get the purse. Sow, is your best friend. Go to Lavastorm, get a Sow. Run to WC and deal with Noresa Sparkle. Give her the purse and get the first key. Run to East Freeport and go to Hallad's. The Case is in the basement. Go through the South Gate, cut left and look around. You'll see it. Ya might not have to pick the locks cuz Rogues know this is a place to gain so there might be a Rogue pickin' the lock for gains. Grab the Case. Run to the E. Common Tunnel. Get a Sow. Run to Noresa again and buy the Sapphire. Costed me 567pp and some gold. Also, it's called "a sparklin' sapphire" and it looks EXACTLY like the Gem of Stamina. Don't be fooled and give Toxdil the Gem of Stamina in negligence. Get the other key off him. Run to E.Common Tunnel, turn both keys to Bubar and you got GOOD exp and the Gem of Righteousness or "A sparklin' saphhire." You'll know it's the right one cuz it's Lore and No Drop.

Home stretch. Run to South Ro. Once you zone into South Ro, there's that little hill in front. Climb it, and cut right. Stay along the wall and you'll see Ortalious at the NorthWesternmost part of the zone. He's affiliated with Solusek Ro, not the Orcs. He won't attack you unless you have bad faction with Ro. Turn both gems, get some exp as well as the prize, the Burnin' Rapier.

As for the weapon, it handles great. I switch hands when I fight. I use as primary when soloin' and secondary when groupin' to use my stronger weapon for Backstab. It's a great weapon.

I hope this tutorial helps not only the Dark Elves, but also any Rogue who does it. I wanted to emphasize on the Dark Elves because well, you have to use your wits in order not to die of stupidity. Enjoy the post and enjoy the weapon. Sorry for the length of this post. Post comments if anythin'. Thanx.

First let me thank Ishkur for his Dark Elf viewpoint - my own DE rogue wouldn't have approached it from the proper perspective without that post.

However, I do feel the need to clarify one small, easily remedied item. The Fierce Brew is not sold in the bar above ChonChon.

However, the Fierce Brew *is* a player made brew, and easily made at that. With a Brewing of 1, I bought a stack of each recipe component, and made more than enough for Blackburrow Swig. You can find all the recipe component at the Ogre at the bar upstairs from ChonChon. There's a distillery at the three leveled bar nearby. I had that part done in less than 3 minutes.

You can find the recipe components at http://www.eqtraders.com - if you're not going there already for pottery and beginning poisons, you really should.

As a Dark Elf Rogue, I know what Ishkur was talking about. It can be a royal pain due to the KOS issues. As far as Nevlik's reply, all I can say is I bought the Fierce Brew at the location described so it may be possible that someone made the brew and sold it. Also, one point that should be noted, when I finally got the blood spirit off of the hemo enologist, she dropped three! I'm not sure if this is random or if she always drops three. However, if she drops three, spread the wealth. It's hard enough to try and get the blood spirits that it would be a waste to let two other blood spirits just sit and rot.

Hello all I am a level 23 dwarf rogue. (Used to be 24 but let's not go there). I have already started doing the easier parts of this quest, and I'm wondering what to do when I get to the hard parts. My guild isn't really that high; our highest level players are in the 30s and we have only a couple of them, however I could probably arrange the leaders to encourage all guildmembers to come on at a certain date and time to help me with the quest. My question is whether this is enough. I've heard lots of rogues who did this quest either with help from their guild or from a kind high level person, and I'm curious how high level a guild has to be to complete this quest.

Does anyone know if this drops off anything or do you have to buy it. If so I only need to make 400pp and I can finish this quest (

A warning to anyone who wants do complete this quest (if above is true and you can only by the sparkling sapphire). Do not start this quest unless you have a fair amount of money (I would say about 700pp). The gem is 570pp for me, and I bought the Cask for 40pp and the 4 skins for 26pp.

Can anyone tell me EXACTLY where the brewer spawns? I have been told many different locations but I have never seen him at any one of them. Also, what is the brewer's PH? Is it a specific type or can it be any type of gnoll?

Well first I would direct anyone to read the guide over at The Safehouse.

http://pub13.ezboard.com/fthesafehouselibraryreadonly.showMessage?topicID=62.topic

But to answer on the brewer I have cut-paseted the following:

"Need a Blackburrow Cask. Found on Gnoll Brewers/Master Brewers in Blackburrow. A common spawn is at loc 32,32 on level 3. Placeholder is a Gnoll Guardsman. Brewer is rare spawn, and Master Brewer ultra rare. "

Aye that is the correct location/information for the Brewer... I would only like to add that it is an approx. 8 min (RL) spawn time, and the casks are also used in the Cloak of the Jaggedpine quest (spent about 30 RL hours trying to get my casks for my druid)

Thanks for the info. I have seen it at that location now that I spent some time to camp it. Thanks for the link too; I find it particularily interesting that the burning rapier used to be 7/23 with only a 15DD proc. So Verant isn't completely evil after all! At least not to rogues:)

do you need good faction in high pass cause i gave axe to byron and didnt get the container for brews.... do you have to say "never stop chopping" to fayln?

I think I was dubious to him and it still worked. I don't see how talking to Fayln could help, altough it might. Just make sure you have a top level inventory slot open for the container. Also, I said "Never stop chopping" to Bryan and he replied "Ahh, you must be that fellow I traded that axe to for those gems. Funny, you're shorter than I remember you." LOL I wonder if he only says that to dwarves, gnomes and halflings.
Burning Rapier

I have finaly completed this quest, thanks to the above info. And i would like to help clarify somethings for those interested. This is NOT an easy quest, and alot would say the end result isnt worth it but NOT TRUE. I say that my rapier is AWESOME. Well here is what i think some should know....

For the Case of Spirits. This is the hardest part of the quest... And i will shed some light on some of the items it gives...

Blood Spirit. This drops off the Hemo enologist in Mistmoore.. Shes surrounded by TONS of crap that will assist her, no matter what level the team is. I used a 50th wizard named Cyaton, and a 50th enchanter named Nilibik, Thanks guys, btw. Well the end result was the death of our wizard but the enchanter managed to mem blur the rest and gate out as i hide/sneak dragged Cyatons corpse to zone line. THIS IS HARD TO GET. I suggest many 50th+ level people for this area.

Clockwork oil stout. I tried to pickpocket the mecha-gnome. and got killed trying.. got a revive by some kind bystander and he happened to have killed it for me in the mean time.

Blackburrow Swig. THIS is the worst part of the quest. The brewer spawns next to the pool with the bloodgills in it. Hes is a RARE spawn and the keg is a RARE drop. Also the 4 Blackburrow skins you need are VERY rare drops from Elite Gnoll gaurds, and they also seem to drop from the Splitpaw Commander as well. The gnoll pup scalps would be easier to get in everfrost on your way to halas for the booze you need there. As there are ALOT of gnoll pups along the way.
ALSO you dont need any brewing skill to combine this. Its automatic

Oblong bottle. This is at the BOTTOM of the ocean.. looks like a bag.. i suggest buying a enduring breath potion to do this but i got lucky and found it on my 1st dive. with out enduring breath i had half a bubble of air left by the time i got up.. and i spend no time looking for it. so it would be easy to drown on this if not careful.

I used sneak to turn in all items to Bryan McGee for this part of the quest... I had dubious faction with him but it apears sneak will do the quest.

Now, for the sparkle purse.. i got lucky and Lynada was up... and a 53rd level warrior named Raphada (spelling maybe wrong) helped kill her. She droped the purse.

The Gemcase was in the basement of the Retail sale shop in EFP. I didnt see the KoS dog anywhere.

Found toxdill out in the hidden entrance to WFP at night. Bribed his silly butt with the saphire, got the other key... turned them both with the case into Bubar.. Got the other Gem...

WENT TO SOUTH RO!! TURNED THEM INTO ORTALLIOUS AND POW!!!!! IVE GOT MY BURNING RAPIER!!!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------

Many would say That this quest isnt worth is but i think it is.

I hope this helps. Enjoy...

Look, im not lvl 50+, and im not in an "uber" guild. My guild is about 30-60, i lead the raid on MM, it was a piece of cake, the easiest thing ever, i made the groups, picked everyone up, and led the way, it was so easy

i'm preparin' to begin the burning rapier quest and am curious about ships and boats...i have very limited experience with the seagoing vessels with only 1 round-trip voyage to faydwer in my youth. otherwise, my time has been spent on (mostly)dry land in antonica.

anyway, once i've got my oblong bottle, how do i get back on the ship? do i have to swim to an island with a dock? can i climb onto the ship as it sails by? does the ship pass close enough to the island to jump on?

i quested for the leatherfoot raiders skullcap, so my swimming skills are well-developed from the time spent in innothule, but i really don't want to drown and leave a corpse full of gear at the bottom of the ocean.

thanks much,

sorry you misunderstood...i,m not stuck there yet, i was thinking ahead. i have a druid friend who can help me out, but it sounds like campin that bottle may take a while and i don't want to tie him up if i don't have to.

thanks,

Don't sweat man. It is easy to get back on the boat. You can either swim to a dock on one of the 2 islands that the boat stops at, or you can simply swim in front of the boat and it will scoop you up. You can even get off at the island and there are usualy canoes around the island so you dont have to swim. Just hop in one and right click. You will get a message saying you have the helm. Once you have the helm, standard movement of left, right, forward, reverse work. This is also a niffty way to clear aggro in OOT. Once you have the helm you no longer are on their aggro list. I have performed this with the pirates to test it, and it does work. I have not tested it out on the higher level mobs though. I guess it acts as a "mini" zone incident. Good luck with you questing and be safe.

thanks much for the tip...picked up the bottle last night.

jumped off the boat, swam around for a few minutes to get my bearings, found the bottle on my fourth or fifth dive, and as i surfaced, what do i see but the next ship sailing right at me! swam right into the bow and on to faydwer. didn't need enduring breath or my druid friend after all...bristlebane was obviously lookin' over my shoulder.

perhaps one day we'll meet and i'll be able to properly thank you over a pint!

thanks again,

I have just finished the quest at level 27 and while the rapier is not the best stats, with other better piercing weapons and the quest can be difficult without a Druid and some high level friends for MistMore, it is worth it. The pride you receive after completing it is very rewarding, also excellent exp when turning in each items (box of souls, gem case and both keys and handing gems to Ortalious) got 2 bubs.

Yeah, it may not look cool like Soulfire but it's was a great feeling after giving the gems to Ortalious and receiving the rapier. Only problem now is it doesn't proc till 30 :( Oh well 2 levels to go...

Well all youu need is some money, some nice druid, and your lockpicking skills. The hardest part is waiting for the cask. After that is seems pretty easy. It's not like any of this stuff comes from the planes. Maybe getting the Oblong bottle might sound hard but get a endure breath and search the ocean. :) Us rogues get it off easy, all are quests are simple. Are epic is easy, and so is this.

I don't see how you think the rogue epic is easy...I have a 34 druid that I used to help a 60 mage and 50 rogue with her epic (all I had to do is track) The mob in SF that has to be killed was tough, the fight lasted for several minutes and wasn't easy at all, fun, but not easy. My rogue who is moving up rather quickly is very fun to play and I do look forward to doing the epic eventually but I know that the last part isn't going to be easy. I am not however looking forward to my druid epic...I just want the end result =)
