This is a sub-task to be completed in conjunction with its grand task, "The Grand Illusion". It begins with Phara Dar in the Field of Scale.

Upon receiving task "The Grand Illusion":

Phara Dar says 'We shall see ______. We shall see. In order to make a convincing illusion, I will need a [ribcage], a [foot], a [hand], and finally a [skull]. Once I have all 4 pieces of this skeletal puzzle, not even Ganak himself will be able to see through your disguise.'

You say, 'What about the foot?'

Phara Dar says 'Grand Master Marthor is rumored to be enshrined within Kaesora's walls. By adding the powerful foot of this ancient combatant, your illusion will command great respect from all you encounter, even those most loyal to Marthor's memory.'

You have been assigned the task 'Evil Afoot'.

Retrieve the foot of Grand Master Marthor 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Locate "Remains of Master Marthor" in the Kaesora area at -2040, -280, -48. Kill the surrounding mobs. There are two Iksar Masters guarding this one. They are both 85th level and pretty hard. Target the remains, then type /open them and loot Foot of the Master.

    Map File Location:
    P 280.9980, 2040.3347, -51.9812, 0, 240, 0, 1, Remains_of_Master_Tynn

Bring Grand Master Marthor's foot to Phara Dar 0/1 (Field of Scale)

    Upon hand-in:

Though they are now enemies, you sense Phara Dar has great respect for the ancient Iksar master. She gently wraps the foot in cloth, and sets it aside for later use.

Phara Dar says 'Grand Master Marthor was a formidable foe in his day. Though an enemy, we must never show disrespect. I will return his foot to his remains once this battle has ended so that his memory remains intact.'

As of the time of this post this has what I imagine is a bug. once you get the two monks down and loot the item no matter how far u run away they will follow u. just a heads up I don't imagine this is working as intended.

    Pets/Auras
    # Feb 05 2011 at 12:13 PM Rating: Decent
As a few people have mentioned below, if you're doing this with pets, make sure they're on hold and never attack the Masters. I think the "No auras" comments would only affect offensive auras.

I had some serious trouble because I blew away the first Master no problem, but after 6 tries of trying to just kill the second, I gave up, relogged to make sure the pets were cleared, waited for them both to respawn, and dpsed slowly. I swear, they seem to FD every single time so quickly when you're trying to go all out on them, and seem to do it much slower/later when you're trying to take it easy.

necro makes short work of this. just dotted one to about 70% then sicked pet on it and forgot it, and went to work on the other. by time that one was 25% and fd i only had to nuke the first one once and he went fd. took about 5 minutes
    Easily Soloable

Soloed as necro, just stay ahead of them and keep the DPS on them balanced so they FD at about the same time. Otherwise the other one gets up before the other dies and resets.

    1. It is no longer possible to have a 3rd party, i.e., someone not in the quest or group to open the bones.
    2. it is no longer possible to kite the monks off and have someone who needs/wants to open the bones. just tried it right now.
    3. This seriously sucks and makes it a requirement that you have a fairly powerful group, i.e., can't do duo'd unless you don't need to
    Can't open
    # Apr 14 2009 at 6:58 AM Rating: Decent
At 30% the guards feign and can't be hit. Still get the message can't open guards are to close. How do you kill them if they feign?

    You don't kill them.

Also, tried today (5/3/09) to have a toon w/o the task open the container, but it would not open. Now you need to be in the task and have the Masters FD'd.

Remains spawn about every 5 minutes after looting. I did this 3 times tonight with auras running and pets present but on hold with no problems.

Well they must have fixed it so you have to kill the 2 guards. I tried all of the above suggestions to no avail today, 2/26/2009. Had 3 toons there, one with quest, monk to pull guards away and another without the quest to try to open skull, no pets up and no auras running. Does not work anymore or I'm still doing something wrong. I have no idea how im going to take two level 85 mobs down at the same time. They can't be mezzed either /sigh

The two monk guards (which con indiff) need to be killed down until they both FD, you should not use pets in the group as these retain aggro. Once they are FD the bones can be opened and looted by the person with the quest.

You only have a certain amount of time when the guard FD until it gets back up again so you need to do both quickly. I tried training them away, but that no longer works.

Could not open the case without the task and got the message couldn't open with the guards there. How do you get this stupid thing open?

If I'm in a group I'll have someone from my group that doesn't have the task open it and I'll loot it, or if I'm solo I'll open it run and get the task, come back and loot the foot, since you can't open it with the guards there if have the task, only those that don't have the task can open it with the guards standing there. There is some sort of loot timer whereby if I open it or someone from my group opens it, it cannot be looted by someone outside my group for, and I may be corrected on this, but I think it's 2 mins, which makes it safe to run and get the task without someone else looting it. Making this one of the easiest tasks ever for an enormous amount of xp.
The hand task is a little more tricky, and the mobs in the building will kill you faster than you can say FD.

    Foot of the Iksar Master
    # Nov 18 2008 at 1:07 PM Rating: Decent
this item is found inside the walls of the iksar stronghold, under one of those large 4 columned stone squares, guarded by 2 iksar masters (red to me at 81). You can fight them down to 20% or so and then they FD and when both are FD then you can open the skull chest next to them and loot Foot of the Iksar Master . Or as a workaround you can find an enchanter who can project illusion and has already done this quest , and s/he can project the illusion on you, and then open the skull chest for you and you can loot. Project illusion probably not necessary if you have a bard to drag the guards away and someone without the quest to open the chest...
