Fripp Darkpaw paws at the ground in front of you. '[Blackburrow] always messing with Darkpaw. Yap Yap!' You say, 'Blackburrow?' Fripp Darkpaw lowers his head and growls again. 'Blackburrow gnolls sneak into Darkpaw village. [Steal] things. Hurt Darkpaw. Bark! Darkpaw fight but they strong! Darkpaw need [help] against Blackburrow. Yip!' You say, 'Help?' Fripp Darkpaw says 'Bayle promise Darkpaw help, but Bayle lie. Bark! Maybe you lie too! Yip! You help Darkpaw? Maybe you be friend to Darkpaw. Blackburrow gnolls kill brother of Fripp. Maybe you send [message] to Blackburrow. No mess with Darkpaw. Yap!' You say, 'I will send the message to Blackburrow.' Fripp Darkpaw says 'Yip! Fripp is very upset with the Blackburrow clan of gnolls and seeks revenge for the slaying of his brother. He has charged you with sending a message to the Blackburrow gnolls that the Darkpaw are not weak. He wants you to kill a prominent member of the Blackburrow clan along with several underlings. Kill a prominent member of the Blackburrow clan and loot his finger. 0/1 (Old Blackburrow) Most (all?) Blackburrow named gnolls drop their fingers (six at a time). Some of the named: Bloodreaper Veschtar (wanders near -65, 220) Brewmaster Drachty (-90, +450, -153, PH is an enraged gnoll brewmaster) Fleshsmith Raxtonar (215, -357, -17) Garght The Angry (-355, 650, -149) High Commander Xantheos (-65, -450, -27) High Shaman Lo`Eszch (-84, 444, 152) Larq the Butcher (wanders near +340, +340, -142, hallways to the northwest, PH is an enraged gnoll butcher) Slavemaster Raouk (-30, 650) Snake Handler Graxos (+200, +135, -100, in the pit, PH is an enraged snake handler) Looting a Severed Gnoll Finger updates this step (meaning you don't actually have to get the kill credit on the named). Kill several of the gnolls within Blackburrow 0/10 (Old Blackburrow) Any non-named gnoll counts towards this step. Note the Wrext Mal gnolls do not count. Deliver the Severed Gnoll Finger to Fripp 0/1 (Oceangreen Hills) Your task 'Send the Message' has been updated. You almost detect a smile from Fripp as you tell him how his 'message' was delivered to the Blackburrow clan. His face seems to ease and he no longer appears quite so upset. You get the idea there is more to this clan feud than Fripp is telling you. Your faction standing with Cirtan, Bayle's Herald got better. I'm going back through and playing some of the lore of the game for fun. First time in zone I got it killing first named mob. Later i realized i'd missed getting it on one of my boxes. Had to go back 8(. I tried several times the "engage with the the quest character" 4 or 5 named later no finger. rounded a courner on my main who didnt have the quest and ran into the brewmaster. DID NOT HAVE THE QUEST got the finger anyway.

One now only needs to kill 10 instead of 12 Blackburrow gnolls... LOC for Fleshsmith Raxtonar is 215, -357, -176
He aggroed on us - my wiz had the task- not sure who he aggroed on because 2 of us had x on us -- but please note- he dropped not one fingerbone, but 6 of them
Success comes when preparation meets opportunity -- and EQ is no exception.
I don't know what the correct method is but when a friend spent hours trying to do this task, he got nothing. I suggested that all in his group have the task, much like Fripp's other task, "What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Gnolls," is difficult without all having that task. His next kill yielded the fingers. My suggestion is for all to get this task. If nothing else, easy experience and chronobines.

This isn't true. I spent about an hour camping Bloodreaper Veschtar and Fleshsmith Raxtonar. Got three spawns. First two didn't drop it, but third one did. All three times they weren't aggroed by the one person with the task. Got the finger anyway.
Like mtgtnt said here, all these nameds will drop fingers... everytime matter of fact... just MAKE SURE..... who ever is the first to aggro the named, HAS the 'Send the Message' task.

I confirmed this the hard way......First to aggro must have task and you will get your fingers every time...

Just finished killing 5 named over a few hours.
Brewmaster Drachty, Fleshsmith Raxtonar, Garght The Angry, Slavemaster Raouk and Snake Handler Graxos. Not a single freaking finger. Nada, none. What a waste of time.

The first person to aggro a named MUST have this task or it will not drop the fingers. This is the same for the "What Evil Lurks in the Heart of Gnolls?" task.

As of May 16, 2009, here is what I found. I killed Garght The Angry. I had 4 players and 2 mercs in group. All 4 players had the task Send the Message. When the named died, he dropped six (6) severed gnoll fingers.
Edit: If you're like me and a bit slow with locs in a dungeon....to get to this named, head down like your going to the ledge camp. There are two bridges you would cross in order to get there. After the first one, right in front of you is a mob under a little structure. That is the PH for the named. He is straight in as you come off the first bridge. There are 3 other mobs in the immediate area of the named. I know the only one you can't see will NOT agro on pulling the named spot. I monk-mezzed the other two, so don't really know if they would have agro'd or not.

On a previous task in here with someone else we killed a named and I looted the finger and thought nothing more about, just banked it, meant to check what it was for and forgot. When I got this mission cleared the 12 Gnolls, then went to hunt a random named.
I triped across the Brewmaster, and cleared the 4 or 5 gnolls around him easily enough, all single pulls ... took him down no trouble(81 Mage + merc). Well of course I couldn't loot the finger becasue I already had one tucked in the bank!.

The location given for Brewmaster Drachty is incorrect - correct location is -90, +450, -153, to the North West area, down close to the bottom level. PH is an enraged gnoll brewmaster.
Snake Handler Graxos is found in the pit at location +200, +135, -100. PH is an enraged snake handler.

i cant say anything for sure but i killed over 20 named without quest then when i got quest then the fingers dropped from 2 named in a row... so it appears you need quest before the fingers with drop like with the lurker bag.. good luck to all those doing quest!

confirmed today, Larq the Butcher drops the Severed Gnoll Finger also.
He spawns in the snakepit and roams around. He is found about /loc 282.43, 134.69, -70.10
For those not loc savvy like me, the yellow layer of the map (if you use mapfiend), NW cornerof that portion. Area looks kinda like an oval.

We have killed the Snake Handler Graxos three times and not any gnoll fingers dropped for us. At least 2 in the group had Send The Message task. Any ideas what we doing wrong or are we just unlucky????
They do drop, it just doesn't always do it. Its not a 100% drop from any of the nameds. It may take a few tries to get them.

FYI you need the task Summery Execution to access the Zone. Get the quest from Bracka Darkpaw, located near Fripp Darkpaw.

I think this item is currently bugged:
The best way to get one is in a full group. I killed about 8 named who are listed as finger-droppers with no luck, having druid+warrior+2 mercs (druid having the task).
I added another friend to fill the group, all 3 non-mercs got the Send the Message task, and the first name we killed dropped the 6 fingers.
My guess is that b/c it drops one each for a full group, it's bugged and only drops fingers if you have a full group (mercs included)

Sounds to me that the fingers are like the supplies that drop from the gnoll lurkers...in that everyone in the group must have the task in order for them to drop. I haven't confirmed this..but it makes sense given the mechanic of the lurkers.

A buddy of mine and I (with tank and healer mercs) killed Bloodreaper Veschtar today, he had the quest, and I did not (having previously completed this).
My buddy pulled, did the first point of damage, and checked the body first and the fingers dropped.
It's possible that one or more of the 3 actions above causes the fingers to drop if done by somebody who has the quest.

Raouk spawns on the platform where you find Guard Ellery.. approx -30 +650.. just go over the bridge past garght the angry's spawn point.. and you see the 4 slaver gnolls up there.. keep killing them and Raouk will spawn.
It's quite a good respawn timer on the gnolls.. so once you clear garght's area, you can move up the bridge and clear Raouk's too.. then back down etc.. double your chances of a spawn

Triple them by killing an enraged gnoll brewmaster on the ledge due east and below Ellery to try to spawn Brewmaster Drachty. A paladin, enchanter, druid, beastlord and cleric managed to keep that triangle cleared without any trouble at all.
Unfortunately, I've killed many of the names (including at least one of each of the three mentioned), and never gotten any fingers to drop. I apparently have hideous luck...

Can you give me more information? I've been all over that place and can't find this guy. More than 40 hours in there and have found most rares. I assume it's the wandering Wrext but his loc isn't right. Z location would be helpful or just other general location info. Thanks !

We were killing the gnolls Wrext gnolls after dropping down from ground level. We went to the bottom, killed the gnoll on the little dock there, killed the Wrext to the right to give us some pulling room. Pulled Wrext from the other side of the dock, just have to watch if they fall/path into the water off the ledge. Veschtar roamed into the open area we were pulling. I don't have a loc, but drop down the pit and face the dock with a door directly behind it. He roamed into the open area to the left of the dock.

Slavemaster Roauks too - he spawns right by Guard Ellery for the Run to Daylight task. If you are trying to get a finger solo, you might check for Roauaks corpse there since groups often kill him before taking Ellery out. I was in a group that tracked him, and when we got there he was up + there was a corpse of his lying there as well - plenty of fingers for everyone!

seems like all gnoll named drops fingers
not 100% sure but i got the idea from SoD quest stuff
not sure did others found out this yet
most SoD quests follows EQ2 path
if you have quest , it will drop the quest piece
and if you don't have quest and aggro it , won't drop
tried on Lurker for old BB access and named in old BB which drops finger
