This quest begins with Vilissia in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

You say, 'Hail, Vilissia'

Vilissia says 'I am Vilissia, chosen of Solusek Ro. I am a practitioner in the wizardly arts, and keeper of lore for the [runescale cloak], [Tishan's kilt] and the [acumen mask].'

You say, 'What runescale cloak?'

Vilissia says 'The Runescale cloak is a wonderful item of defense for any wizard. Are you [interested] in the [cloak]?'

You say, 'I am interested in the cloak.'

Vilissia says 'I can assemble for you a runescale cloak, but I will need you to bring me the necessary components. I will need a lizardscale cloak from the temple of Cazic-Thule and the three Runes of Scale. All three can be found on crocodiles = saltwater crocodiles in the caverns of Guk, deepwater crocodiles in the Oasis of Marr and firescale crocodiles in the mountains of Lavastorm. Bring me these items, and I will make you a runescale cloak.'

Vilissia needs a Lizardscale Cloak from the Tae Ew Templar of the Feerrott and three Runes of Scale (from saltwater crocodiles in Upper Guk, Deepwater Crocodiles in South Ro, and Firescale crodociles in the Lavastorm Mountains).

After handing in the items:

Vilissia says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vilissia says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vilissia says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vilissia says 'You impress me, adventurer! I had not expected you to return with all of the runes. Very well, I shall keep my half of the bargain. Here is your runescale cloak.'
Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.

Last patch changes..
# Jul 21 2000 at 5:28 AM Rating: Decent
After the last patch I noticed that the Rune of Scale (drops off crocs at various places in the world) are now listed as DRU WIZ, where it was earlier listed as WIZ only. Whether this is one of the numerous errors in the patch I do not know. I havent been able to find a quest for druids with this item yet.

Well, I don't know which rune you are talking about but I was just in oasis and bopped a DW croc for fun and got a Rune of Scale. MAGIC, LORE, NO DROP, Wizzie only.

The rune of scale off the saltwater Crocs in Upper Guk are listed as Druid and wizard
My opinion on the Cloak...

i'm sure we all know that there are better cloaks out there to get for our Wizard(Molton,Mystic,White Dragonscale and so on)but as a farely easy quest to get an item like this is pretty impressive, the stats are pretty nice and and work well with the Staff of Temporate Flux by adding plus five to the other stats like Poison and Disease and if your a dark race you will not have a chance of getting the Mystic cloak any time soon because of faction with most high elves(i would say that all dark elves are KOS to the High elves unless you take some pretty bad faction with your own kind to get on the High elves good side) so in my opinion i would say that for the items given to get the cloak(a Lizardscale cloak is a bit tuff to just give up for a no-drop cloak i can't lie)its well worth it :).

Oh and if your having a tuff time finding the Crocs in Lavastorm you may want to head to the Sol temple..once there facing the tunnle in but still on the small ledge above the lava pool below look to your right and head in that direction along the wall ...you should see a few of the crocs out that way as for the Saltwater crocs i would say get a map( check the links here at Allakhazam for a few good ones that will walk you through to the spot..its where the Ancient croc spawns, there his place holders and killed all the time by others waiting for him to spawn.Good luck and take care :)
RS vs LS cloak.

The Runescale cloak is nice, but not nearly as good as the Mystic cloak IMHO. This quest is also expensive considering you have to trade in the lizardscale cloak for it.
Runescale Cloak

I did this quest, and only killed the Oasis croc; in Lavastorm and Guk there
were players camping the crocs who had no problems with my looting the
runes. I bought the lizardscale cloak. Nice prize!
Runes of Scale

Yes, you must hunt all 3 crocs and get a rune from each of them. They all say the same thing but you must get one from each croc.Ask around in the zone the crocs are located because people kill the crocs but don't loot the runes as they are wizard only and NO DROP.Getting the runes are pretty easy if you just ask around.
Do I need to hunt them all?

Do I need to hunt all three of these crocs or can I just kill one kind for the three runes of scale? Are all runes of scale the same?

If you are a wizard you get the spell identify at lvl 16. If you use this spell on all three of the runes from each of the croc's (firescale, deepwater and saltwater) they will say somthing different for each one. The DW croc's Rune of Scale will say somthing to the effect of "Rune of Scale (bottom)" the fire scale says "Rune of Scale (middle)" and the saltwater says "Rune of Scale (top)". only if you have one of each of the top middle and bottom will you be able to get the cloak. They are easy to get because like said before players who camp these crocs usually dont loot these runes because they are no drop and Wizzy ONLY. Just go into the zones where these crocs spawn and give a couple shouts saying you would like to loot the rune of scale. Most players will let you loot the rune. I have gotten the Cloak and belive me its worth it with this cloak it brings my total int up to 193 and INT is all a wizzy needs to survive :) Dont belive me next time you die and your fom loot your corpse super quick of all your int items then take a look at your mana bar. with all my int items being picked up from my corpse bringing me from 142 int to 193 i gain about a bubble and a half of mana!

Ozzalyn Lvl 16 Wizardess, Bristlebane

Anyone needing help with this quest gimme a tell on bristlbane ill be glad to help

Int is not all a wiz needs to survive, what a wiz needs are Int, Dex, Agi, AC, HP, and above all of that, a good tank. My base int is 142, and it's only 171 with gear on, but due to my straight-mana gear, when i do loot my corpse from FM, I drop to 2 bubbles of mana. Later in life I will start adding more int gear, but you have to decide which will be more beneficial, and that means knowing how much mana per Int point you are getting. Right now at 16th you're looking at about 3 per point (guesstimating, don't have my mana calculator up), so you need to decide if that +4 int necklace is as useful as that +20 mana necklace is. At level 30 or so... yeah, probably, but not at your level. Right now my wizzy is only 10th, but I still have more than enough mojo to take down a red or tough yellow, though the reds I have to melee a little, and that's where my extra hp/ac/agi/dex come into play. Granted later on I won't melee jack diddly, but for now I can handle it, especially when Root breaks/won't stick/etc.. (I know, never happens...) My point is, and I do have one; Int is NOT the be all end all of the wizard, the mage, the necro, the enchanter.
