These "Simple Tasks" are a series of kill tasks that take place in current hotzones (see this wiki article for a list).
This task begins with Franklin Teek (map) in the Plane of Knowledge. He is located east of the entrance to the Guild Lobby. You say, 'Hail, Franklin Teek' Franklin Teek says 'Hello _____! Are you seeking an adventure? If so just tell me if you want to learn about opportunities for [level 20], [level 25], [level 30], [level 35], [level 40], [level 45], [level 50], [level 55], [level 60], [level 65], [level 70], [level 75], [level 80], [level 85] or [level 90]. I also have an [alternate] opportunity for level 90 adventurers.' You say, 'Level 30' Franklin Teek says 'You may wish to investigate (current Level 30 Hotzone). While you are there perhaps you would be willing to perform a [task] for me?' You say, 'What task?' Franklin Teek says 'Take a look at this list and see if there's anything that interests you!' A window pops up with a list of "Simple Tasks" that range from 15 levels below to 10 levels above your character level. You have been assigned the task 'A Simple Task - Level 30' Complete the task that Franklin gave you. You'll be asked to kill five of a certain type of mob in the given hotzone. Kill targets will vary by the day. The zone involved will always be the current hotzone for this level. Kill 5 gnomish miners - Solusek's Eye Kill 5 goos - The Crypt of Dalnir Reward: Rough Adept's Belt, Cloak or Scarf (for casters / priests) Rough Combatant's Belt, Cloak or Mantle (for melees / hybrids) 4 platinum You gain experience! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

My 30 enchanter was given the task of killing 5 Burynai. This was a lame quest. I do not recommend it.
Why is it lame? If you're going to be in the zone anyway, killing mobs there anyway, why not do the quest? It's not required, you don't * have * to do it, it's just a bit of extra pp for doing something you'd be doing anyway. Any time that there's a quest or something that gives me anything extra for something I'm going to be doing anyway, I figure it's worth getting, whether it's fac, or a bit of pp. If you think it's lame, by all means, skip doing it.
