K here is the scoop. Dont know if it was luck or this formula that worked,but i got two dead grimmies to spawn this way and one live :).
Between 7am and 9am Kill Place Holder. wait outt he respawn 3hrs and 15 mins and Dead version of grim should spawn. it should be about 9pm game time. Atleast it was for me both times. Kill dead grim or PH between 7pm and 9 pm and Live version of grim will spawn.

While you tread upon the roads, be warned that there are [local dangers] as well as rumors of [corrupt guards].' You say, 'What local dangers?' Capt Linarius says 'My guards report daily to me of dangers in the plains. Lately, they've been telling me of rumors of [Lord Grimrot].' You say, 'Who is Lord Grimrot?' Capt Linarius says 'My guards have heard rumors of this Lord Grimrot. It is said that he is a powerful shadowknight who is raising an army of undead. Such things should be reported to the Temple of Life. Journey to Qeynos and speak with Camlend Serbold. Tell him of Lord Grimrot.' Do as Linarius says, and journey to Qeynos. Camlend is inside the priest guild in North Qeynos. You say, 'Hail, Camlend Serbold' Camlend Serbold says 'I say, good to meet you, Sephira! I am Camlend Serbold. Some call me Serbold the Great. I am the leader of the righteous order of paladins which serves the Temple of Life. Together with the clerics of this temple, we defend the will of the great [Rodcet Nife] and smite all who dare to oppose us.' You say, 'I like Rodcet Nife, he's a nice guy' Camlend Serbold says 'Do you feel your heart beating within your chest!!? It is Rodcet Nife, the Prime Healer, whose breath keeps it in perfect rhythm. If you do not pray to His glory then I assure you, someday when your heart begins to slow, you shall be crying out loud to Rodcet Nife.' You say, 'Who is Lord Grimrot?' Camlend Serbold says 'You have heard of Lord Grimrot? He is a shadowknight working with the Bloodsabers. We have word he is trying to build an army of undead. Only a powerful knight can rid the lands of Grimrot. So, did you come here to [defend life]?' You say, 'I came here to defend life.' Camlend Serbold says 'Then go to the Plains of Karana. Somewhere there, Lord Grimrot is hatching his little plan for the Bloodsabers. Bring me his evil scythe and his heart. It is said that upon his death, his soul will be absorbed into this weapon of darkness. Do this and be rewarded.' Camlend Serbold says 'We must have both Lord Grimrot's scythe, Pestilence,and his misshapen heart.' Go to South Karana. Not far from the end of the bridge is an undead camp. Lord Grimrot's placeholder is the only putrid skeleton that is standing. It always carries a cute little rusty bastard sword. Respawn is approximately 180-220 minutes. The live version only spawns during the day, and drops two Pestilence Scythes. The one with the proc is the one you need to turn-in. The undead version only spawns at night, and drops the Decaying Heart. Slaying the undead version of Lord Grimrot gives you the following faction hits, Bloodsabers -200 Guards of Qeynos +30 Opal Dark Briar - 20 Priests of Life +50 Corrupt Qeynos Guards -10 Turn in both these items: Camlend Serbold says 'We thank you for your service. With Lord Grimrot's evil soul trapped in this scythe, all but the truly evil shadowknights would be able to wield it. I would like to present you with this as a token of our appreciation. Your devotion to life is supreme. Go now, and serve life.' Your faction standing with Priests of Life has been adjusted by 5 Your faction standing with Knights of Thunder has been adjusted by 1 Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos has been adjusted by 2 Your faction standing with Bloodsabers has been adjusted by -1 Your faction standing with Antonius Bayle has been adjusted by 1 You gain experience!! It's the same item, just entered wierd for each slot. Same can go in shield or back slot.

I just spent the past 8 hours camping Lord Grimmy. half of that was waiting for his PH. I Killed the PH at 8 AM (game time) and then waited for him to repop in like 3hrs and 20 mins as is his spawn time... I was all ready and buffed... and he didn't pop.. and he didn't pop till nealry 4.5 hours after I killed the ph... it was his skeletal form and he had the scyth... and when I looted it he had the decayed heart as well. Both the scyth and the heart on one kill. I do not know if verant has changed it or if I just spent all my luck in getting both to drop and I can kiss of any lucky rolls in the plains good by now... ;) Anyway, up for debate, or bring hope if they did.

I hope you didnt try to turn in that scythe, becuase if you did you wasted your time. BOTH versions drop the same tradable scythe, but the live version drops a no drop one as well. You can easily tell the difference cuase the one you turn in has a few stats and 1 charge of some vampiric thing, cant remember the full name. Just thought I'd point that out.

Was walking through SK doing the interrogators bagde with a good 34 shaman friend(myself being a 45 paladin), and someone shouted Grimrot was up. So we ran over there, and totally smoked him. I did not even have to LoH. Now just to get the load of faction and heart.

I have the Pestilence Scythe *however you spell it =P* on my Necromancer. Is it possible if i get my necromancer's faction up to warmly, to multiquest it with my cleric? Or will i have to get the Pestilence Scythe and the Heart on my Cleric, instead of just getting the heart?

ok got both parts <after almost a week of sitting on my tush 12 hours a day. seeing nothing but 5 live lords and uncountable ph's > and went in to con Cam, warm, but when i ask about the quest he gave it to me. so i have a few questions..
Since he gave me the quest am i high enough in faction ?

I was playing my gnomie war alt(lvl 28) and was running to the nk bridge to sell some crap when i see this lord grimrott guy standin there... i give tell to my rl bro who also has a 28 lvl gnomie war alt to match and we decide to be crazy gnomies and take this fool! after missing about 10 times i watch him fear my bro and then start tapping me. So of course i run to the zone. my bro is pissed that he couldnt hit the guy so he loads his main(56conjeror) and comes in with his water pet and pummels the ****. after words i looted the scythe and used the charge of vampiric curse on a bull elephant then destroyed the crappy no drop weapon.... lol! sorry to all you clerics that could have used it... just bad timing i guess MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

camped him for the last 18 hours, setting my alarm to go off every 3 hours after his PH was killed. roughly 3:20 RL minutes is a correct spawn time estimate, however, i have found that the undead cyclops has spawned instead of Lord G or another putrid skelly at times, the undead form is less common, he popped for me after killing 4 putrids 1 live grim and then one more putrid at night time

I just started a Dark Elf Cleric and was wondering if a Dark Elf would be able to do this quest since its in Queynos. Do i have to have really good faction to not be KOS or i can't do this quest at all?

You must have the highest faction with Temple of Life when you con them or you just wasted your time with them. You won't even get the quest told to you until you have that faction. If you can't get the priest to tell you the quest...go raise your faction with Lashun in newbie zone by handing in 2 bonechips per slot to him for faction increase or 2gp at a time, plus he heals you too...LOL

with the new "ally" faction, what's the minimum faction needed to GET the quest, and what's the minimum faction needed to GET the Aegis of Life once u have the proper items from Grimrot?

ok.. I got UnGrimmy to spawn about one RL hour ago. Killed the PH at 7am game time, so that does work. I can't attest to much... but I will say that a 7 am kill got me an undead Grimmy.... after 2 months of hit and miss camping. Good luck everyone, and hope you get yer Aegis faster than I did.

i have found that like many others theories on 'how-to-get-soandso-to-spawn', the timed killing of the PH is based on bad statistics. The spawn is most definitely random, with an approximate 3h20m time interval in between spawns, starting from the moment you kill the PH.
Proof of this: 2 weeks ago as i made yet another attempt at camping Grimrot, i had 2 live and one undead Grimrot in succession. This kinda blows the timed kill theory out of the window.
So my advice is to just kill the PH as soon as he pops, then go kill some griffons and/or HGs in NK for 3 hours and when you come back and fins someone else has taken the camp, suck it up and come back again later

I camped for 14 hours the other day and got nothing but his ph, i haven't the time or energy to keep doing this. Is it really worth it all?

you don't get Aegis of Life to be a great shield... but how many 15 ac 10 wis cloaks will you find outside the most Uber of places. Use it as a cloak, and it is well worth the time invested.

Is it worth it? Ha! For killing two relatively mundane Mobs you get an incredbile back slot item. If you already are at 200 wis, you prob dont care, but otherwise this allows you to free up another slot to get some more resists or ac or agi or whatnot in there.
Good luck on the camp. Think of it this way tho...worse comes to worse you get 300 stacks of bone chips after a 3 hour camp.

Yes, the PH is the only standing putrid skeleton at skel ruins in SK near NK bridge. But u DONT have to kill it, or it will respawn in 3 hours. You simply gotta wait 28 minutes and it will despawn, then after 5 minutes around it will respawn ( it or the Lord ).

This method does not work. I tested it. I help PH for an hour and it never de-spawned. Please dont post worthless time consuming ideas that do nothin but mislead people.

Does this item can be wielded as a shield and also be put in the back slot as a cloak? Or they are 2 seperate items? If so, how do you control which item you will get?

Here is how i calced the spawn time of grimrot. based on my eexperienc of killing PH at 7am and having the next spawn at 3am. Also, a EQ hour is 3 min. 3*24=72min per EQ day. based on spawn time above, he spawned in 3 days minus 4 hours or 2 days and 20 hours. (2*72)+(20*3)=204 RL minutes. 204/60=3.4 hours or 3 hours and 24 min RL. this seems to corelate with the 3hours 10 min to 3 1/2hour spawn time. if the theory of whether the spawn is at night or at day does determine which of the version s of Lord grimrot spawn (dead at night, live at day) are correct, one should kill the spawn a good 5 EQ hours before you want the next spawn to show up 3 EQ days later. But, unfortunately, i have seen the live version spawn at 2am EQ time, so maybe all this was for nothing and grimrot is just a random spawn.
