Raid Event: Scorn (Every Rose Has its Thorns)

This is a solo task given by a mysterious stranger in the Hills of Shade. You'll need a raid to complete it. Completing this task allows you access to the Rank III spells sold by the mysterious stranger.
It is available once you complete the Blackwater and Kirathas task arcs. The Blackwater arc begins with this task while the Kirathas arc begins with this task. After finishing all of them, you can request this task. The raid target is Scorn in the Hills of Shade, who also drops loot. Dropped loot is attainable by anyone participating in the raid (you do not need the task) as long as one person is able to request this task and trigger the raid mob. The Task You say, 'Hail, a mysterious stranger' a mysterious stranger says 'What exactly are you doing here, _____? Bah, never mind. I suppose you could ask me the same [question].' You say, 'Question?' a mysterious stranger says 'I've taken an interest in the past of the Hills of Shade and how it effects the present. The events that transpired here centuries ago were an important part of our history. In fact, you can see [echoes] of that history repeated again and again.' You say, 'Echoes?' a mysterious stranger says 'Have you noticed the poor fools that tread among the ghosts, attempting to save them? Doomed to failure, all of them. They'll become a part of Erollisi's [curse].' You say, 'What curse?' a mysterious stranger says 'It was a punishment devised by the goddess of love. The ghostly residents of Blackwater and Kirathas relive the events leading up to their demise, unaware of their ghastly fate. They make the same mistakes. They endure the same pain. They spill the same innocent blood. Of course, it's easy enough to judge them without having been there. With my wares you would be able to see the world from their [vantage]. However, be warned, many an adventurer has become trapped here, caught up in their endless conflict.' You say, 'Vantage?' a mysterious stranger says 'Perhaps you're different. Would you like to pick a side, _____? Take a look at my wares. And in the unlikely event that you see these events to completion without becoming mad, come speak to me of your [deeds].' You say, 'I did some deeds' a mysterious stranger says 'Well done, _____. You have succeeded where many before you have failed. And now that you have seen the horrors that plunged the Hills of Shade into a horrible chaos, the most difficult step of all lies ahead. Can you lift this curse?' A task window for 'Every Rose Has its Thorns' opens up. You have been assigned the task 'Every Rose Has its Thorns'. Purchase a Thorned Rose 0/1 (Hills of Shade) The thorned rose is sold by the mysterious vendor. Kill Scorn, the avatar of Erollisi 0/1 (Hills of Shade) You can trigger Scorn by giving her the Thorned Rose. (As the actual turn-in doesn't update the task, only one person needs to do this.) This step updates upon Scorn's death. See below for raid event details. Collect 1 Petals of Erollisi(s) 0/1 (Hills of Shade) Scorn drops 12 petals in addition to her regular loot table. Deliver 1 Petals of Erollisi to a mysterious stranger 0/1 (Hills of Shade) The Petals of Erollisi come from Scorn after she's been slain. Hand that to the mysterious stranger to complete the task. The Raid Scorn is found beside the statue of Erollisi Marr in the Hills of Shade. (Information on event mechanics needed: names of any mob abilities, spells, adds, reset timers, etc.) Adds called "Flurry of Thorns" spawn during the encounter. 105 cleric with rogue merc. took 17 minutes and 75% of my mana. got close in a few spots on merc. got myself a pain-runed cloak for form of rejuv -) got get 'em!
Ok... finally just killed Scorn and completed this task.
Unless I missed something, this task is 100% a SOLO task.
Giving the Rose to Scorn will make her aggro, but the task itself is a SOLO task... not a raid mission or a group mission.
Yes -- it does take a raid to finish this solo task, but none the less, it remains a solo task. Only the one player gets credit for the hand-in. There is no "raid mission window."

As a further update... everyone who is participating can turn in the rose for the update (even while she is aggro and fighting).
She drops about 12 of the task drops (Petals).

Incorrect, you CANNOT turn in your rose to her while she has aggro on someone else. We tried this with 3 clerics not even a week ago.
The rose is to only start the encounter and is not even required to be turned into her in the quest. Anyone can buy a rose and give it to her.

You are correct, the hand in is not a update.
However if they had the rose and wanted to hand it in to get rid of it....
Everyone on my raid were able to do it just fine, by the way.

anyone able to list here all teh rk3 spells that cna gotten via this quest? I know clerics get Circle of Divinity Rk3 from it, just wonderng what otehr classes get?

The quest steps:
1) Purchase a Thorned Rose
2) Kill Scorn, the avatar of Erollisi
3) Collect 1 Petals of Erollisi(s)
4) Deliver 1 Petals of Erollisi to a mysterious stranger

I hadn't done any Camp Valor tasks, so I think it's safe to say you just need the Blackwater and the Kirathas quest-lines.
Scorn herself:
We killed her on the second attempt, she is quite a meanie for the loot, but will try to sum up the fight the best I can. We killed Bimbalicus the Soulbleeder before attempting this and it seemed a lot easier ;)
Scorn is triggered by handing in the rose you bought from a mysterious stranger.
Scorn herself hits for 8,5k, flurries, rampages and ae rampages (apparently for full damage). She casts the following stuff:
Blackrose Hail (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=9361&source=Live)
- targeted AE on 5 players at a time, approximately 10 seconds after this emote:
Scorn shudders, releasing a cloud of thorns in an arc in <insert name>'s direction!
Passion's Thorns (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=9363&source=Live)
- selfbuff damage shield. Keep an eye out for this emote:
A blanket of blood-red thorns sprout from Scorn's body.
Scream of the Scorned (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=9364&source=Live)
- apparently some knockback, the spell info isn't very helpful
Entrapment of Erollisi (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=9360&source=Live)
- some root on random people in raid, personally I never got hit.
In addition to this, periodically 5 Flurry of Thorns spawn (those carnivorous plant models) with the name of a person in raid underneath. There's no special tricks to these, hit for like 300-1300 and like to chase the player they're destined for. Just kill them and get back on Scorn.
Hope this helps guilds trying to take down the @#%^. She drops 12 petals as stated below, 2 pieces of loot and 2 pieces of steel-studded armor. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they're prelootable, so don't bug your guild about it until you've done the hard work leading up to this.

I will do other set of quests and see if I get the rk 3 spells to show up. If not then I'll finish "Every Rose Has its Thorns", when next we kill scorn.

This raid plus the entire valor task line unlocks rank 3 spells sold by the mysterious stranger. Thus you need to complete one side of the faction war there. Valthons Memory Shard line. These are the spells unlocked.
