Requesting the Expedition: High Priest Diru Riwirn (Progression)

If this is your first time doing the Sewers zone, you can request this expedition as part of Gates of Discord Progression by speaking with High Priest Diru Riwirn (click for map image). Doing this will result in a flag at the end of the expedition.

You say, 'Hail, High Priest Diru Riwirn'

High Priest Diru tells you, 'Go find Ansharu. He has been researching their behavior patterns, and will be able to tell you what needs to be done. I hope that you will be able to help us out in these dire times. Please head to the sewer plant and find the source of the stonemite infestation. If you do this for us, I will share with you how to pass through the mountains and up to the temples created by the trusik, our exiled kin.'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, The Purifying Plant is now available to you.

Requesting the Expedition: Gamesh (Non-Progression)

If you've already done progression or are otherwise not concerned about it, speak with Gamesh (click for map image) at /loc -385, -710, -120:

You say, 'Hail, Gamesh'

Gamesh says 'I don't know why you would want to, but if you want me to tell you the way to one of the different areas of the sewers let me know. I know how to get to the treatment [plant], [crematory], [pools] of sludge, or the [lair] of trapped ones.'

You say, 'I'd like to go to the plant'

Gamesh leans in closely to whisper, 'Okay, listen closely...'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, The Purifying Plant is now available to you.

Named Mobs

Named mobs that have a chance to spawn here:

Grimy Turepta (in the rooms west and north of Ansharu)
Kril V`Lak (south hall leading to the Ancient Kayserops)
Ukun Packleader (central part of the zone)

It's reported a named has a chance to spawn after every 20 mob kills. Note that the map above only reflects known spawn areas of these nameds. It's possible that they have other spawn locations.

Expedition

General mob population here tend to hit for a max ~1,150.

Here, you need to hail Ansharu (northeastern hallway) in order to spawn the final encounter:

You say, 'Hail, Ansharu'

Ansharu tells you, 'Diru sent you yes? I am so happy you have come to help us. I have determined that the source of the problem lies in the alpha leader of these stonemites. It is a large and ancient stonemite that I have named the Kayserops. I noticed that when together with it they are able to move about more effectively, as if it is able to communicate with them where to go. Without this alpha leader, I think they would lose this ability and may have a harder time finding their way in to the city. Find the aged stonemites. I have seen the Kayserops protecting these elders. Defeating them may draw its attention.'

This spawns 9x "an aged stonemite" in the southernmost room. Make your way there, and then kill them one at a time. These hit for a max ~1,250; AE rampage; and are immune to mez and stuns. They don't summon. As you kill them, you see:

an aged stonemite stops feeding on the algae of the sewers and turns its attention to something with more sustenance.

an aged stonemite has been slain by _____!
As the last blow strikes the giant stonemite, it screeches in pain. You can hear the rumbling of a huge stonemite making its way through the pipes.

Upon the death of the last aged stonemite, "Ancient Kayserops" spawns and immediately aggros:

Ancient Kayserops strikes at you in a crazed frenzy.

It hits for a max ~1,450; flurries; buff itself with "Blind Rage"; and procs "Electric Blast":

Blind Rage: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease AC by 180
2: Increase Attack Speed by 65%
3: Increase ATK by 250

Electric Blast: PB AE 300', Magic (-100)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 275
3: Decrease Mana by 175

Ancient Kayserops's corpse shrieks as you crack its hard carapace, causing death.
Ancient Kayserops has been slain by _____!

If doing the progression version of this expedition, you also see:

You have gained a character flag! The destruction of the Ancient Kayserops should earn the trust of High Priest Diru.

You say, 'Hail, Ansharu'

Ansharu tells you, 'I heard the squeal of the massive Kayserops even here. Excellent work! I hope that another leader does not rise to take its place any time soon. You must go back and tell Diru of what has happened here!'

Storyline Progression
# Jan 11 2008 at 12:37 PM Rating: Decent
This mission is given by High Priest Diru Riwirn in Barindu after you complete his previous 3 missions. The sewer instances opened by Gamesh do not give the progression missions.

This is now Storyline only progression and is the 4th of the 6 old Kod'Taz flagging missions. The only required mission now is the Tipt mission.

For those wishing to follow the expansions storyline, go to High Priest Diru Riwirn and do the first 4 missions. The scribe next to him is a flag fixer if you do missions out of order (the mission requester has to have copleted previous missions but anyone else can do missions in any order). After you complete the 4 sewer missions go to Apprentice Udranda and do the Vexd mission (kill mobs till Stonespiritist Ekikoa spawns in far NE cave and talk to her for flag). Then do the Tipt Mission. Related storyline quest (and aug) is the Breakdown in Communications series with 1 subquest in every zone.
After this the storyline continues in KT with Kevren Nalavat who starts the Ikkinz group series for KT BiC subquest and Ikkinz Raid access (required for raid leaders to get Ikkinz missions).

This site gives a good overview of the storyline progression.

Here is a nicer chart by samanna showing the progression order through Tacvi.
