This group task is the first in a series of five and begins with Clockwork Warmarshal, who is located near the Ak'Anon Strike Force camp at the zone-in of Fortress Mechanotus.

    You say, 'Hail, Clockwork Warmarshal'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'Hello there soldier. It's good to see so many Norrathians rally to help stop this menace! Since our crash and my [promotion] to leader of the Albatross' ground forces, I've been overwhelmed with necessary military action and underprovided with forces to complete those actions. I know it's unusual, especially since you are not officially enlisted for this action, but perhaps you could [accept orders] from an old clockwork and help out all of Norrath in the process? Or if you and your allies are truly brave, someone needs to make forays into those dratted [gyrospires] if we're to have much of a chance getting reinforcements up here.'

    You say, 'Gyrospires?'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'In addition to the Fortress Mechanotus, Meldrath made three other spires that he uses as roving tower defenses. Though he called them guard towers, and they could help intercept attacks, intelligence we have gathered indicate he also planned to use them in his attack on Ak'Anon. When Ak'Anon made it's counter attack we managed to destroy one of them before we were unable to continue to fly. Our intelligence indicates that they are called gyrospire [beza] and gyrospire [zeka].'

    You say, 'Zeka?'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'This tower is one of his odder creations. We have not quite figured what it is for, though it does look perhaps a bit more dangerous than the other tower. But more importantly we have learned that Meldrath plans to visit that tower. If you are interested we would like you to [disrupt] their plans.'

You say, 'We will disrupt their plans!'

You have been assigned the task 'Did We Forget the Cheese?'.
The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

The Clockwork Warmarshal has heard rumors from Gurtrude the Spymaster that Meldrath is planning a visit to Gyrospire Zeka to check on operations there. Disrupt the visit.

Go to the Gyrospire Zeka launch catapult 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Kill 35 steamworks 0/35 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Get Oil from the refueling room 0/10 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Get Coal from the refueling room 0/5 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Kill anything that keeps you from collecting the coal and oil 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Contaminate the Food in the Meeting Room 0/12 (Gyrospire Zeka)

The Meeting Room is on the first floor. Chamberlain IX spawns while contaminating the food.

Kill 1 Chamberlain IX 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

Return to Clockwork Warmarshal and report your progress 0/1 (Gyrospire Zeka)

    You say, 'Hail, Clockwork Warmarshal'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'This could mean that we manage to remove Meldrath the easy way, though I expect that it will just be an inconvenience. If you are interested, there is more you can do in gyrospire [zeka].'

Your task 'Did We Forget the Cheese?' has been updated.

If Meldrath makes his visit he is up for a nasty surprise.

Your faction standing with Ak'Anon Strike Force V could not possibly get any better.

This catapult is powered by the extra power room you found right under it. All of that extra power will give anything it launches incredible power. I need you to go into the gyrospire and see how much [damage] you can do.'

    You say, 'damage'

You have been assigned the task 'Did We Forget the Cheese?'.

It's possible to single pull the Fuel Master to the IZ. I did it. I didn't really mean to do it, but I did it.

The way I worked this, since I am cautious and I am also two boxing an enchanter with a T5 merc who is banzai nutso and likes to agro every mob in sight + break mez + enchanter pet seems to go berserk in zones that are up/down vs left/right, is simply kill most of the mobs in the front yard, then pick off the ones by the door. Having a good bit of necro firepower, you can do two (or even 3, if spire is up) at once, but I don't recommend it. Must easier to do 1 or two, with the second mezzed and slowed and ready to be killed.

When you open the door to Zeka, there are about 5 mobs crammed on top of each other. I'd take the chanter and merc back to the catapult and park them there. Then I'd pull. I'd get 2 - 4 mobs. Standard FD pull, and just run them outside. The merc would be far enough away that he wouldnt' go nuts and agro everything and break mez.

If It was two - one being snared for the pull - I'd run for the box. The merc will agro the closest thing to him and the the necro starts piling on the dots, while switch to second box and I've got 5 miles of nothing and 1 snared mob inc. Which is pretty much cake to mez. Whip around, slow the first, slow the second.

Moving in a bit, there is another room of mobs - the room with the basement and upstairs access ramps. You'll have to clear this as well. I did it the same way. Target one, go back open door to outside, come back, snare, run outside.....wash, rinse, repeat, same strat as above.

For the cheese room, there were 4? 5? mobs inside, I think. I hit the one on the left side of the table and only got two mobs. Same strat as above. Take 'em outside and destroy them.

One thing I noticed here. There are mobs that randomly walk around and can add at the most inoportune moments. It seems one is always hiding..and walking ...and then adding, when you least expect it. If you box, pulling them outside is a lot easier on your nerves. It's just easier period. Slower, but easier.

Moving up the ramp, there were two gnomebots 1/2 way up (where both upstairs ramps combine into one ramp.) They're within sight of each other, but didn't assist. Weird.

Upstairs, there are about 4 gnomebots and the Fuel Master. There's a ledge here, it blocks your view. There are two robots on the immediate other side of the ledge, and in my case a see invis wanderer-bot who made my life miserable, since he added, hit the chanter, chanter pet went to protect mode, cleric starts healing chanter pet like crazy, merc tank agros everything within 100 yards, and the necro says "@#@^$%^#" and runs off the side. Everything, died but me, and I noticed I had 5 mobs inc on radar. I hit /corpsedrag on the chanter, invised up and ran to the catapult with 5 mobs in tow. One more added from the ones in the courtyard that I didn't clear from before.

One of the five was the Fuelmaster. I'ms Sitting at about 1/3 life, but I figure, WTH, and wait until they are all within sight. Then feign, stand in a bit, and snare the Fuel Master. He's snarable. Then I root him. He's rootable, too. Yay!

Then I feign off agro. I pop my cleric, get healed. (Couple of snares and rotos on the named, in between all this, for the record.) Then drop chanter corpse, who gets rezzed and he popped his Tank merc. Then let the chanter get enough mana to tash and slow. Then we plastered the Fuel Master.

Second attempt at the Oil/coal stores and I used my old master plan. Get close to target. Target the gnome bot, back up, Pet hold, send pet, pet back off, whaddya know, 2 mobs inc. Dot one, mez other, wash, rinse repeat on rest of that room. Click the cans for the oil and the boxes with coal for 1 piece of coal or 1-2 buckets of oil.

Ruining the cheese is a pain. I think it took 5 - 10 minutes of walking back and forth and clicking. cheese until, well, I just hate cheese now, that's about it. You have to click the oil or coal from an open inventory slot while standing over or next to the cheese. It's not insta-click either. I'd say 3 seconds per click.

The Chamberlain popped outside the room on about the 10th piece of cheese.

That's right, not inside like you'd expect, outside the door to the room. And suddennly, I had two adds. Where the heck they came from, I dunno, but he was on radar and so were two others. The Chamberlain, compared to the Fuel Master seemed very weak. I didn't think he was any harder than any other trash mob. The Fuel Master took ~ 2 full rounds of Dots. And I do about 20k - 40K a tick. Or something like that.

After he and adds were dead, i finished corrupting the cheese, went back and hailed the War Marshal.

There are more than 35 steamworks inside that have to be cleared; killing the ones outside is a waste of time.
