Eron Nurwistle may be found on top of a windmill, at +800, -550. You must have a minimum skill of 250 in Pottery to receive this task.

At the end of the previous task:

Eron Nurwistle says 'This is a fine piece of work. You truly are skilled. For the next task you must be a highly skilled [potter].'

You say, 'Potter?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. Though Meldrath is brilliant, sometimes odd things happen and unintended, um, events happen. In the guardian some of the soot from the machinery has taken on a life of its own. I believe it is an interaction with the faycite crystals and the magics that he often uses to help his creations have that extra spark. But that is beside the point. The next step in making the jewelry and in my revenge lies within the [guardian].'

You say, 'Guardian?'

Eron Nurwistle says 'I am sure you have seen it. It is the great lumbering beast that you see wandering about dragonscale hills. My next task for you is in there. You will need to talk to someone that calls himself Overvolt Rigster. He will know how you can get into the guardian, probably through the maintenance shaft in the foot. Do you want to [enter] the guardian? Since you will need to do some pottery in order to make the extra settings for the jewelry, you must be an expert potter for me to assign this task to you. Overvolt may also require you to bring some friends with you to allow entry into the guardian.'

You say, 'I want to enter.'

You have been assigned the task 'Clay Within the Beast'.

Eron Nurwistle says 'Good good. Oh, you have a perplexed look on your face. Did I skip something again? Oh, what do you need pottery for? Simple, or really not so simple, but that is beside the point. When you destroy some of the soot being in the guardian, though they will always leave their soot behind, sometimes it will have just the correct consistency. This soot can then be made into spectacular clay that caries some of the animating forces of the well... soot. When you get the soot, you will make some clay, and then use this clay to make a special set of settings for the jewelry. Incidentally, when you are in the tower, you will need to gather two [crystals].'

You say, 'crystals'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes. It will actually be some of the faycite. This time I will make an exchange. While you are there find two blue gem grade faycite and give one to me. In return I will give you some clear faycite for use in the jewelry.'

You receive Eron's Ceramic Setting Notes.

Loot 14 Twitching Soot (0/14) - The Mechamatic Guardian

Twitching Soot is a common drop off any cloud mob in both solo task and group instances within the Guardian. These mobs can be found on the second floor.

He gives you back Clear Gem Grade Faycite.

Show the Settings to Eron. Allow him time to inspect them. (0/2) - Dragonscale Hills

Speak with Eron after he has had time to inspect the settings. (0/1) - Dragonscale Hills

Create 1 Eron's Simple Second Setting Jewelry using tradeskills. (0/1) - ALL

Recipe is 1 x Blue Gem Grade Faycite + 1 x Clear Gem Grade Faycite + Eron's Simple Jewelry + Eron's Ceramic Setting in a Jeweler's Kit, trivial 250.

Show Eron your progress on the jewelry (0/1) - Dragonscale Hills

Your task 'Clay Within the Beast' has been updated.

Eron is satisfied with the work you have done so far on his jewelry.

Eron Nurwistle says 'You are doing very well. And though this is just the beginning, it looks like my idea is going to work splendidly. Are you interested in doing some [baking] for me?'

Mechamatic Guardian zone Notes

OK, I'm starting this quest and it's my first time in The Mechamatic Guardian.

Remember to:
1. tell Overvolt Rigster the IV (Dragonscale Hills, at the catapult)that you want to "head into" the guardian. This will let you click on the guardian and enter the zone and NOT get booted.

2. you need to be in a solo task (requires 3 people ((( Don't Ask ))), Say "stabilizers" to Overvolt Rigster (See step 1.) to get a task. There are other tasks, this is just one of them)

I invis'd in the zone just fine and ran to the first transporter with no problems.
The elevator works by CLICKING THE FLOOR. That took me a long time to figure out.

Take the elevator to the next floor and then take a 2nd elevator to the next floor.
Then just keep following the main hallway on the map.

Take a winding ramp down a level or so and the exit hallway takes you to the transporter. It has a mechanical thingy there to help you recognize it plus a transporter aura effect.

Once I transported there were no mobs right there on the other side, I easily picked up the Guardian Expediator Mark I which looks like a Christmas present and is right on the floor. It's lore and no-trade. If you're in the zone, click it and always get ported to the transporter where you found it.

My 80 druid who is doing this quest and my friends 81 shaman were not easily doing the killing for the soot drops so I switched in my 86 necro and the Shaman. This also includes a healer merc and a DPS merc. They had no major problems but all I was looting was the soot with my my druid. I missed the fact I also needed the Blue Gem Grade Faycite. So now that I have tons of soot, I need to go back again for the Faycite, ah well.
Remember: Loot both soot and Faycite

A goodly number of the mobs are rootable and snareable.
Outdoor spells will not work. Druids beware.

OK, got all my drops.
With a 250 Skill and pottery mastery AA at level 3, and my tropy, the combines all went well.
I was awarded 6 AAs.

To get to the soot area, you need to get to the first teleport pad. Run into it, and immediately grab the clicky at your feet. Now you will never have to make that run again, in case you die. Once there, you need patience as a duo (80 Ranger, 80 Shaman, decently geared). I boxed it with my shaman so I was not able to split. Just watch the roamers to make sure you get only two. Once the first round is clear, just keep them clear so you do not have to fight two at a time.

The area that has the "Soot" mobs that you need has MANY add mobs in close proximity. This needs to be updated to "Must have a few ppl if not a full group to do it." Yes the Eron's quest is labeled soloable BUT you need some help in the Mech Guardian not just 2 to sit in group so u can get task. 2 High-end 80 Paladins & a High-end 80 Druid & 80 Shammy had abit of trouble but managed. The room re-pops relativeley quickly and the hallway mobs can aggro you if yu are barely on the outskirts of their proximity.

BTW triv on 2nd quest "Clay within the beast" JC combine says it's triv 250 but I did fail the combine! I have 345 JC w/ 15% mod, JCM3, Salvage 3, was raid buffed and still failed on 1st attempt lol =(

Well no wonder you had so much of a hard time killing, you were probably trying to pull at least 3 at a time in there! My suggestion to anyone doing this, even if uber geared or not, is to bring a cleric. A cleric and a good tank can duo in there without any problems at all, while a third person sitting holding the task. Clerics CAN paci pull in there, since the mobs are below level 80. Level 80 cleric and level 80 mage (with pet tanking) was able to go just fine in there. We got everything we needed for the quest in a couple of hours, and several AAs too! Only rough spots when silly me (the cleric) accidentally grabbed a pather too while pulling and had 2 or 3.

(Oh, and as for that little hall respawning, and the pather there... if you stay way in the far back near the suction thingy, he won't aggro you, even when you are killing.)

How Do I Get In?

Every time I try to enter the guardian, he kicks me. Now, as I look up more stuff on this quest, I'm seeing that I'm supposed to be grouped with at least two others when I enter. Is it necessary for me/the group to get another task in order to enter the Guardian? Or is it enough just for me to have this task and me and the rest of the group will be able to enter without getting another task?

Someone who's done this, please help.

You need a group task. Go to Overvolt Rigster the IV and say "head into". Then you can zone in.

you cannot actually say "i want to enter the guardian" as this will cause him to repeat the previous text, and not assign the task.

however, you can say "i want to enter ______" (insert name of your favourite actress here) and you will receive the task.

Third try was the charm.

Your task 'Clay Within the Beast' has been updated.

Eron is satisfied with the work you have done so far on his jewelry.

Didn't notice my aa xp % when I turned in but dinged off it and was up to 79% of the next aa so decent xp hit.

Eron Nurwistle says 'You are doing very well. And though this is just the beginning, it looks like my idea is going to work splendidly. Are you interested in doing some [baking] for me?'

You say, 'baking'

Eron Nurwistle says 'Ah, yes, I am glad you mentioned it. I am hungry. I believe that what I need in order to recover properly is a proper meal. And again, while this may not seem to directly relate to my revenge, by gaining my strength back I will be able to more properly work at damaging Meldrath's plans. For this though I am picky. I only wish to have an expert baker help me. The food must be good you see. Do you have the [skills]?'

You say, 'skills'

You have been assigned the task 'Food For the Injured'.
Eron Nurwistle says, 'Ah Good. I have given you a book with a recipe for frog legs, and the next step in the jewelry. After you have given me the food I will also give you a pattern you will need to reconfigure the jewelry. You will need to find the fish recipes yourself. I know that it seems like much food but I need it for my recovery. I will also take some fish, in order to prepare it in my own way, though it is not likely as good as yours.'

Yor receive: Eron's Frog Legs and Reconfigurations [no trade]

Task objectives:
Fish for 12 Farwander Gar (loping plains)
Fish for 12 Wayunder Perch (loping plains)
Fish for 12 Dragonscale Bullhead (dragonscale hills)
Fish for 12 Prawn (dragonscale hills)
Fish for 12 Shaded Bonefish (hills of shade)
Fish for 12 Shadow Trout (hills of shade)
Loot 1 Twitching Giant Frog Leg (loping plains)
Create 1 Farwander Gar Meatballs using tradeskills
Create 1 Grilled Ranthockgrass Prawns using tradeskills
Create 1 Sweet Sauce Shaded Bonefish using tradeskills
Create 1 Baked Dragonscale Bullhead using tradeskills
Create 1 Shadow Trout Kabobs using tradeskills
Create 1 Wine Baked Wayunder Perch using tradeskills
Create 1 Eron's Herb Frog Legs using tradeskills
Go talk to Eron. Be suer you have all of the fish and baking with you and he will take it from you

More updates for third task
# Dec 10 2007 at 9:44 PM Rating: Decent
Last 2 steps for part 3 are:
Create 1 Eron's Reconfibured Simple Jewelry using tradeskills
Show Eron your progress on the Jewelery.

Eron is satisfied with the work you have done so far on his jewelry.

You gain experience!!
(1.71 aa at level 80)
You have been given: Eron's Reconfigured Simple Jewelry

Eron Nurwistle says 'Yes, that is the reconfiguration. I hope it was not too difficult. For your next task, I would like to send you to fortress [mechanotus].

You say, 'mechanotus'

Eron Nurwistle says 'It is difficult to say what Meldrath's greatest achievement is, but the Fortress Mechanotus is probably amongst the greatest. A complete island that might as well be one gargantuan clockwork that dwarfs the guardian. But that is enough about how brilliant he is, what we are more concerned with is how we can hurt him while achieving my goal of completing the necklace we are working on. If you are an expert [smith], I will send you on your next task. Additionally you will need to be more experienced than on the previous tasks I have sent you on as the areas I am sending you in are much more dangerous.'

You say, 'smith'

You have been assigned the task 'Scrap Oil'.

Eron Nurwistle says 'For the next step we will be making a tertiary set of settings for the jewelry. You will need to find some magnetized metal that amazingly enough can only be found in scrap yard of the fortress. Additionally you will need some oil to lubricate the setting. This oil will actually be sealed within the joints, so it I a rather difficult process. You have to heat just enough to make the metal malleable, but not so much that the oil catches flame. As usually I have given you a book with the recipes you need. Once you have shown me the parts, I will give you the mold that you need.' (the two spelling errors aren't mine. they're in the text he gives)

Will post task writeup if they add part 4 here.
