This is an event in the Ashengate West raid expedition. It is initiated by "killing" the egg underneath the lavafall in the west wing of Ashengate.

An oversized and misshapen drake springs forth from the shattered egg. As its eyes see the world for the first time, the drake opens its maw wide and squeals, lava dripping from its sharp fangs.

Ambersnout the Aberration begins to cast a spell. (Ambersnout's Boiling Body)

Ambersnout will roam up and down the ramps of the bridge area, spawning adds:

The dripping lava from the twisted drake's mouth forms into a creature of some sort.

Adds include:
- a bubbling pile of ashen goo (1500-point melee damage shield)
- a burning fragment of Solusek (8500-point spell damage shield)
- a fiery darkshard guardian

Ambersnout, itself, cannot be damaged by players or regular player pets (exception to swarm pets, which CAN damage it). Ambersnout's health will lower as you kill the event's adds.

- Adds must be kept on aggro, or you risk an event reset.
- The adds spawn 1, 2, or 3 at a time at each of the locations Ambersnout stops (almost always 1 mob)
- The adds pop roughly 30-60 seconds apart (the spawn delay is a fixed timer)
- Of the add types, goos are the most common. Golems and elementals are rarer.
- All of the adds summon below 97% health.
- All of the adds are rootable/snareable

A Blackened Chest spawns after the event with loot.

Chest loot from this event includes 1 Mark of Vergalid + 2 Glowing Obsidian Runes + 1 of the zonewide aug drops from non-instance Ashengate + 1 of the augmentations in this list:

Arcane Actuator
Arcane Wavebender Prism
Clipped Griffon Wings
Flowing Magma Soulstone
Krithgor Ribshard
Magma Lacquer
Prism of Captured Energy
Sharpening Stone of the Sky

Ambersnout drops his snout, a TSS charm quest item.

I did this with 3, which actually was more like the 110 ranger did it and 2 other toons (wiz 110 and chanter 109) were dragged along and watched.

Ranger can dmg Ambersnout no problem. Used archery to get it to nearly 85%. First time I forgot to grab the adds and the event reset.
Second time I merely shot it, grabbed adds, rinse repeat till it died. Didn't take long at all.

The adds aren't necessarily timed. Ambersnout paths around the room, and when he hits his next destination, he drops an add. So, if you can eat some damage doing stuns, you can actually damage him yourself and skip most adds.

Ambersnout CAN be damaged by swarm pets. NOT regular pets and NOT players...but SWARM pets (Mage: Servant, Host etc. Necro Swarm, Living Dead etc, Beast Howl etc. And the Vicious Rabbit clicky)

His reset doesn't appear to be from not keeping him on aggro but, rather, from leaving one of his spawned adds unaggroed for too long (it's not a very long timer...maybe 30 seconds.) so even if you are a high level killing him via the swarm pet route, you'll have to attack and kill the adds, which in fact makes it go faster anyway because each add death is still chipping away at his HP while the pets do.

The damage shield is monstrous on the goos btw.

Ambersnout can definitely be damaged by regular means. I soloed him down to 85% before the first add spawned. You just have to use high damage abilities because you eat the DS for every hit you land, and the DS sucks.

Confirm -- you can get this event with 6.

Also -- it appears the event is changed just slightly. You still can't direct damage Ambersnout, but, you do need to keep her on aggro (pet ot tank) or the event can fail/reset.

Useful info to know ahead of time:
- Ambersnout is non agro all the way through the fight, no matter what you to to him.
- The adds spawn 1, 2, or 3 at a time at each of the locations Ambersnout stops at (almost always 1 mob)
- The adds pop roughly 30-60 seconds apart (the delay is fixed, I just didn't record it)
- In about 20 spawns we had 17 goos, 2 golem and 1 elemental
- All of the adds summon below 97%
- All of the adds are rootable/snareable

i've heard that all of the mobs in this event are immune to cleric reverse damage shield spells, so i have been wondering if you can use dispells... or the level 80 shaman spell Thorn Wilting that is supposed to block the effects of damage shields? i suppose i will find out on my next AG west raid. i'll be sure to post my findings =)

handling the dmg shields...

thorn wilting does not seem to block the dmg shield at all, as for the mobs being immune to cleric reverse damage shields - they are not immune to it, it lands... it does not get rid of the damage shields tho. i think the damage shields are an aura and are therefore not able to be removed in any way, tho i still am in the dark on why thorn wilting is not blocking it as the spell info says it should be doing.... but then when has sony ever gotten anything to work right?

Update:
incidentally, Ambersnout spawns with a self buff called Ambersnout's Burning Body already on him - spell info here https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=9166... from what i can tell, this spell seems to have a reverse nuke of sorts - it returns an 8500 direct damage nuke onto anyone who casts detrimental spells on ambersnout. i would not recommend trying to damage ambersnout directly with spells due to this. meanwhile - the oozes have the spell Ooze Damage Shield on them.

in addition to trying out thorn wilting and cleric reverse damage shields to handle both damage shields; i also attempted to dispell them with ordinary dispells and cure them with corruption cures (both DS spells say they are +9 on corruption counter) - none of this worked, the mobs still had their DS and were returning 1500 per hit in DS. so i can only conclude that neither damage shield can be dispelled, debuffed, blocked, negated or removed in any way.

we gave up for tonight but if we try this again the tanks will have to hold agro without turning on melee attack, all melee fighting classes will need to either find a bow or a throwing wpn to use, and the oozes will have to be fought purely with ranged dps and spell damage.
