This is the final event in the second Frostcrypt raid expedition.

Head into the maze (populated by seven ice golems). In each of the four corners is a skeleton sentinel. Use a fire-based nuke on the SE sentinel, cold-based on the NW sentinel, disease-based on the NE, and magic-based on the SW. These do not all need to be done simultaneously.

Once this has been done, use the Fellwinter to open the door at the north of the maze:

The door begins to glow softly with an answering glow appearing from Fellwinter. Before long both glows suddenly extinguish as Fellwinter crumbles into dust. . . It appears the way is open before you.

Everyone is now able to open and close it like any normal door.

Inside Beltron's room you will find two gigantic layered ice golems.

These golems must be "melted". Each time a layered ice golem is hit with a fire-based spell of at least level 70, it loses 5% health and spawns "an ice melt".

a layered ice golem begins to melt from the heat of the spell.

Hit the ice melt with a cold-based spell to turn it into a reformed golem (note that if the ice melt is attacked, a cloud of gas will form in the room coupled with a DoT aura called "Blistering Steam" and hang around for a bit before turning back into an ice melt):

Blistering Steam: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 1000 per tick

an ice melt refreezes into another golem.

a reformed ice golem scatters ice shards across the ground as it moves to attack.

The mobs in this part of the event hit for a max ~5,500; flurry; rampage; and enrage. Continue this process until both layered ice golems are dead. At this point Beltron the Shade King spawns in his room.

Attack him.

Beltron the Shade King says 'You will meet the same fate as the others! Rallos will see it done!'

Beltron cannot be damaged by normal spells. Throughout the encounter he will cast the spell "Touch of Shadows" on random people (must be on hate list in order to get it). This gives the player a proc which is the only thing that can damage Beltron. Each proc does about 1% damage to him.

When Beltron hits about 70%, he'll start summoning golem adds:

The Shade King summons additional minions from the icy floor.

These may be ice golems, gleaming golems, dense golems, and unstable golems (these explode for ~10k AE).

Beltron also attempts to summon additional help:

Beltron, the Shade King shouts 'Guards! Come deal with these pests!'

In each of the four corners of the room is a platform. When you see the above emote, each must be stepped on (one person per platform will do - they must not have levitate of any kind). If this is not done, several shadow guardians spawn and attack, creating a very unpleasant situation.

Beltron can also spawn "icy prisons" in his room which he uses to trap players. They are attackable and destructible only from the outside.

Beltron cries out in agony as he is struck by _____'s dark spell!
Beltron the Shade King's corpse says 'Another will rise in my place!'
Your faction standing with Ancestors of Valdeholm could not possibly get any worse.

I had to use an disease-based nuke on the NE (Severan's Rot), disease on SE (Diabo Tatrua's Swift Sickness), cold NW (Conglaciation of Bone), and I forget the other, I think I was melee it and procced. But logs confirm disease on 2.

For the Shade King event, in the maze, the Fire, Cold, Disease, Magic spells you need to trigger the 4 corner skeletons with can be any level spell, and can be either a DOT or a nuke, or maybe a proc too. All that matters is the resist property of the spell. Prismatic or chromatic won't work. Each skeleton gives a success message that everyone should hear:
A maze sentinel says, 'The powers of fire have been brought into alignment.' (SE)
A maze sentinel says, 'The seal of magic has been broken.' (SW)
A maze sentinel says, 'The powers of ice have been brought into alignment.' (NW)
A maze sentinel says, 'The locks of contagion have been opened.' (NE)

But when fighting the two ice golems, spell level does matter, your fire spells must be at least level 70. As a Ranger, I used Galvanic Ash (78) and Volcanic Ash (73); they have long refresh times but those two nukes are on separate timers. I found that cold spells weren't needed, could just melee the ice melts without issue, I did not encounter the Blistering Steam for whatever reason.

For Beltron himself, everybody melees him and hopes for procs to lower his health. By the end of it, there could be a lot of adds.

Ranger Ashcloud Boon (98) is on a separate timer and will add a third fire nuke to the rotation.

I cannot figure out how anyone is able to solo this event as I'm unable to get the maze sentinels down. Did over 12 billion (BILLION!!) damage to each of them in their respective spots and they just regen to full. I am completely flummoxed on how to get beyond them to open the door to Beltron's room:

"Head into the maze (populated by seven ice golems). In each of the four corners is a skeleton sentinel. Use a fire-based nuke on the SE sentinel, cold-based on the NW sentinel, disease-based on the NE, and magic-based on the SW. These do not all need to be done simultaneously. "

Offers me nothing useful and doesn't seem quite like a mandate since others have mentioned soloing this event which would suggest that there is more to it than what is mentioned.

You need to hit each of those 4 maze sentinels with their respective spell damage type. The people that solo'ed the event likely either had the damage type spell available to their class or used a weapon with a damage proc of the appropriate resist.

Yup soloed with a ranger. As Bobbybick explained, you don't kill the maze sentinels, you just find each one and hit each one once with the correct DD spell. As a ranger I used Dustdevil for the magic nuke, a pure fire and pure cold for the next two, and a Scroll of Pestilence for the disease.

I solo killed Beltron on 12/24/2013. Not terribly difficult, just extremely long. It took 1hr and 4mins. Strat and additional info available here: http://www.eqoutrider.net/eqforums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=712&start=330#p57871

How difficult would this event be (assuming everyone is flagged for the zone) to attempt with 95's?

Quick note, you can free yourself from the prison. Just have to have the right angle

Yes, the target box for the prison cell is in the center of it. Once you get it targeted, it's easy to smite it yourself. If you're melee, just face the center target box, not the bars on the prison cell.

Go through the maze to a door along the north wall. This leads to King Beltron's room. You will need to use the Fellwinter from Harfange the Black to break the door's barrier. (You may also need to nuke the four maze sentinels at each corner of the maze with various spells... Confirmation here needed.)

Confirmed! First you clear the 7 golems inhabiting the maze (not necessary as such, but a lot more dangerous if you don't!). Then you use a fire-based nuke on the SE sentinel, cold-based on the NW sentinel, disease-based on the NE, and magic-based on the SW. These do not all need to be done simultaneously. Once these have been done, the raider witht he Fellwinter clicks the door at the north of the maze, and the door opens. Everyone is now able to open and close it like any normal door.

This entire event is all about CONTROL. Period.

If your raid force is undisciplined, you will fail.

This was a very fun event for me personally. When you figure out what's going wrong and have the ability to correct and compensate, and succeed doing it, it's a really great feeling. The raid force I was with succeeded on the first try with only the above information. We did a LOT of learning on the fly. I gave much thought to posting more information, but I won't. This is one of those raids that teach everyone what real teamwork is. If your guild has what it takes, you already have enough information to win this.

To do the golems. Every fire spell melts one off. To reform it, you hit it with a cold spell.
