Kwinn the Outlander (a rare spawn barbarian who wanders all over the zone) has a quest for you.
You say, 'Hail, Kwinn the Outlander' Kwinn the Outlander says 'Hail, adventurer! Kwinn's the name. Hunting is my game. I have been all over this continent. Seen many things and found [odd trinkets]. I have no quarrel with any race. I judge a person or critter by their actions. Heck, my best friend is a troll !! You say, 'Wwhat odd trinkets?' Kwinn the Outlander says 'Blast!! I found some strange thingamajigs!! Most of it I toss or sell to vendors and crazy sages. I am on my way to sell this [iron tail] to a tinkerer. You say, 'What iron tail?' Kwinn the Outlander says 'Found the thing washed up on the shore in Timorous Deep. Looks like a metal lizardman tail. It is all rusted and covered with barnacles. Probably can't get much for it, but I'll try. Why do you ask? Are you looking to [trade for the mechanical thing]? You say, 'I am looking to trade for the mechanical thing' Kwinn the Outlander takes out an extra pack. 'Thought you might be interested. I don't want to take a loss and I only trade for things I am hunting, so here!! Inside this pack you need to combine the following items; a sabertooth tiger mane, a pair of pygmy brute choppers, a lime plume and a war bone fist. Return the full sack to me and the tail is yours.' Kwinn the Outlander says 'Kackling Quellious!! This will bring a fortune on the black market!! Well, a deal is a deal. Here is the tail. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Just as a side note and possible lead in this quest... in the dark race outpost is an undead Iskar Captain, I forget his name but, he's on the same side of the Outpost as the bank.

Im sure by now most iskars have noticed the new NPC in East Cabalis Sartar the Unruffled. Well hailing him only gets you a story. He states he was a master of hand to hand in a past life. Could Sartar be infact Captain Swiftail? Maybe he is part of the Whistling Fists quest.

I completed the quest and got the tail ID'ed.
Result: property of Captain Irontail
This Tail IS the tail of Visk Irontail.
I asked all the Iksar Master about Visk and his tail and did not managed to have a single answer.
So I tried the silly thing: I gave it to Glox.
Result: I do not need this item but I will keep it.
I completed the quest once more so I have another tail, but I still don't know what to do with it :(

I read one of the books in cab it talks about an irontail, he was a regular monk, and became a great captain in the navy, he died on a raid from dragons. It said he lost his tail in a fight and got an iron tail made for him to wear that's when he became iron tail, I'm not sure on anything else, but every little bit helps, I'll read it again when I go on EQ next and let you know if there's anything elkse in the book.

I read that the iksar captain lead the navy but was supposedly killed in an invasion, i think it was the big dragon invasion. Everyone thought he was ded but he returned to cabilis but had no tail, it had been ripped of by a trakanosaur in his wanderings
-- has anyone tried talking to him about his friend the Troll, or are we assuming that, just because it's not bracketed, it's not relevant?

1) Our friend with an Iron Tail must be very dead as he fought four the Emperor Rile.
2) He lost is tail in the Emerald Jungle to a Trakanosaurus but that was loooooong before he died.
3) Kwinn found the Tail on a Beach in Timorous Deep
4) The tail was made by the Iksar Blacksmiths..... maybe we should ask them....
5) Did someone cast an ID spell on this tail?
6) What about handing the Tail to Glox? Baaad I dea as Kwinn is so though to find, but heh! he might find that interesting :P

The tail IS indeed the lost tail of Irontail....but he was not only a naval Captain.
Irontail started in life as a monk....his tail was to replace his shark-eaten original....perhapse we will see a culmination of this quest through a patient lizzie monk.

I know the info states that he is rare, roams, and is killed by frogloks. Even so, I've had absolutely no luck finding this fellow. Where have you others seen him?

Found him he was blue to a 33. He is part of the Iskar Monk quest for the Shackle of Copper. Not sure if that is what the iron tail is for. The Monk I tracked him for Hailed him got the bag then killed him so not sure if he drops something for the quest or if you need the iron tail for him. Found him in the North or South East part of the zone. Was in an area were there was no roamers and was close to Swamp of No Hope or Feild of Bone, cannt rember which one is off of Firona. You can get the Intact Pygmy Choppers of of Boogoog, in Frointer Mountions also (were I got them). A Warbone Fist (Lore, No Drop) can be found in Lake of Ill Omen off of Warbone Skelletons. The Sabertooth Tiger Mane (got one off a Sabertooth Grim... in Lake of Ill Omen), havent been able to get the quill yet though. Anyone know were the Cockatrice spawns?
Tracking helps ALOT when finding Kwinn. He also conns indiffrent to everyone. No faction hits when he was killed.

this may seem small compared to the rest of this topic but is the warbone fist also known as a skeleton fist? Just curious because I have been carrying this for a while now with no clue what its for. Thanks

im pretty sure thats what they are referring to. last night in a group we killed many warbone skeletons and they dropped "a skeletal fist" which i assume Kwinn wants.

I did look in Timorous Deep. The only thing close, I found, was an iksar master. He gives out one of the shackle quests and makes no response to an keywords related to the iron tail. Besides that, he actually has a tail.
Can you recommend any where else in Timorous Deep to look?

370 A.G.: Vlzk, student of the 5th rung, becomes the youngest Iksar monk to attain the title of Tynn Master. He takes his place among the masters of the Court of Pain.
371 A.G.: Master Vlzk becomes the only Iksar monk to be promoted to the rank of Captain within the Iksar Navy. He is promoted by the great Emperor Rile. This act solidifies the alliance between the monks and the Legion and ushers in a new age of disciplines.
372 A.G.: During a coastal patrol being conducted by Captain Vlsk, a fierce and sudden water spout hits and splinters his ship. The Navy searches for survivors and none are found.

406 A.G.: During the Infamous Battle of Timorous Deep, Captain Vlsk Irontail is defeated as well as most of the Sebilisian Navy. A horde of dragons descended upon them. The navy was vastly outnumbered. So was the end of the great Captain Irontail. Long live his spirit.
If I were you, I'd be looking in the timorous deep.

There is a bunch of shipwrecked boats in TD, all I can see from the boat is raiders, but maybe he is out there somewhere. Will check it out.

I talked to the iksar on the tiny island. He is for a different quest. He wants a burnished staff or something like that.
The burnished staff monk is actually found along the coastline in Warslilks Woods. His name is Ssolet Dnaas, and giving it to him will get a part of the Medallion of Obulous (according to Allakhazam anyway). =)

I've never talked to the guy (and maybe he's for some other quest), but there is a lone iksar on a teeny tiny island by himself in Warslik's Woods. His island is in the water on the north side of the zone to the east of the river mouth... wish I had a loc, but if you zone in from Field of Bone, head straight north until you see water, follow the coastline west - you will see that little island eventually. It can't be more than 10 feet offshore and it's like 5 feet wide.
Like I said, though, maybe he's for some other quest... but maybe he needs his tail back, too :) Sea captain - this iksar is like in the sea... dunno.

Went and killed this Kwinn joker without talking to him...dropped an outriders head or some such thing...any ideas what I could do with it?

The Outlanders Head is for the monks 5th shackle quest.

This item (Intact Pygmy Brute Chopper) dropped from a named NPC Boogoog at n2740, n2777 in Frontier Mountains.
They also drop from the much more common "Pygmy Skulking Brutlings" in Warsliks Woods.
