You must have at least dubious faction with the Coldeye Clan Orcs in order to request this task.

You say, 'Hail, Gnashclaw Stonefed'

Gnashclaw Stonefed says 'Hello, Lloathingg. Gnashclaw know this language. Gnashclaw [know] much.'

You say, 'What do you know?'

Gnashclaw Stonefed says 'Gnashclaw not tell you what he know. But Gnashclaw tell you what you do for Gnashclaw. You [can help] Gnashclaw.'

You say, 'I can help'

You have been assigned the task 'The Kobold Hearthstone'.

Gnashclaw Stonefed says 'Good. You make kobolds die.'

First find the Location of the Kobold Scared stone 0/1 (Icefall Glacier)

The cave at the wizard spire - take the left way in, then your first left. (1722.90, -67.68, 51.44)

Grab a Chuck Of rock from the scared stone 0/4 (Icefall Glacier)

Click the stone in the center of the room to get a stone on your cursor. They are lore..

You already have a Chunk of the Sacred Stone. You need to deliver it to Gnashclaw before you can grab another piece!

Bring it back to Gnashclaw 0/4 (Icefall Glacier)

Gnashclaw Stonefed swallows the stone whole. 'Yes! I can feel the power surging through me! MORE! I NEED MORE STONES!'

Gnashclaw Stonefed swallows the stone whole. 'Yes! I can feel the power surging through me! MORE! I NEED MORE STONES!'

Gnashclaw Stonefed swallows the stone whole. 'Yes! I can feel the power surging through me! MORE! I NEED MORE STONES!'

Gnashclaw Stonefed says 'Yes! Me at full power now! Now me make Coldeye more invincible. Kobolds die soon!'

The Kobold's Sacred Stone crumbles to pieces as Gnashclaw consumes its power.

You say, 'Hail, Gnashclaw Stonefed'

With the return of this stone fragment Gnashclaw's power has grown. There's no telling what sort of repercussions this will have on the battle between the orcs and kobolds.

Updated, thanks.
Lag

When you get big time lag in this zone, you can thank some wizard for dragging down all the zone's video resourses. When a wizzy snares multi mobs in this zone...and i mean at least 10 mobs, its lag city USA.[][/]

Two people can't do the quest at the same time.. you handed him 4 total, so he despawned.
no more lag.

As of the patch on May 16, 2007, They have done away with the "avalanche" effect in Icefall. I am there now, no lag, and its just as good as any other zone.

That is false information, you will not lose a bridle, it does not just poof if you turn models off. You only lose the ability to ride a horse if luclin models are turned off for your class.

This would be the easiest task to do if it werent for the fact that the NPC Gnashclaw wasnt surrounded (and I mean surrounded) by Dire Wolves and other kos npc's bent on your distruction.
However it isnt the mobs that are the problem they path away at some points, it is the HORRIFIC lag in the zone.
I would think it was my comp or my dialup if it werent for the fact that it is the ONLY zone I have any lag in and the fact that I have DSL.
I got a gobby rogue shroud and went to do the task and first I could barely get to the orc caves.
Take a step freeze, unfreeze step, freeze etc all the way to the orc caves from zone in.
And then once I finally made it to the caves I couldnt unhide no matter how much I clicked the hotkey and then when I finally did manage to unhide, I was dead before I even saw any mobs around me because of again the HORRIFIC lag!
Bummer for me.
So, if you dont have any lag in the zone the task is super duper easy but alas for me this task will never happen due to the lag.

I also experience(d) horrific lag in the new zones...especially considering I box 4 toons, all on the same computer.

It helps if you turn down the Clip Plane to 50% (set to 0% on all other toons, if boxing).

Click the Advanced button under the "Display" Options tab.
Turn OFF "Advanced Lighting".
Turn ON "Disable Tattoos".
Turn OFF "1.4" and "2.0 Pixel Shaders".
Turn OFF "Level of Detail".
Set "Sky Complexity" to whatever the minimal setting is, and "Sky Update" to "Once Every Minute".
Set "Terrain Detail" to "Minimal". (You must do this step every time you log out/in, and it won't take affect until you zone. I usually set it on all 4 toons in the Guild Hall, then have my Druid Succor all of us back to the middle of the Guild Hall to fix it.)

Furthermore, you might want to go into Options as you start EQ, and turn OFF Luclin-era models for all races except the race(s) of the toon(s) on that account, and make sure Horses/Elementals remains checked. (NOTE: If you turn off Luclin models for the races you play on that account, you'll lose any Bridles you may have equipped on those toons when you log them in; even if you have Horses/Elementals checked.)

I went into the eqclient.ini file, and turned OFF the armor graphic updates for all toons but my main. I also saved a copy of the "stick-figure" DLL they released for April's Fool Day, and use it on all accounts but my main. Makes raids much easier w/o having to draw all those different player races 4x each.

My computer isn't exactly the best in the world, so if I can run 4 toons on it with these settings, most people should be able to run 1 toon (even in the TSS zones) without too much trouble.

I run a dual CPU P3-1GHz, with 4GB of no-frills ECC SDRAM and 1 terabyte of HDD storage in a RAID 5 array...but only a 4x AGP graphics slot. And dual CPUs don't really help all that much with EQ itself, considering it's not multithreaded...but it does help with the OS load (Windows XP Professional SP2), leaving more cycles for the game instances I have running. Someone running a new(er) generation processor should blow my rig out of the water, performance-wise, especially if utilizing a PCI-E graphics card.
