After the takeover of the city of Firiona Vie by the forces of Lanys T`Vyl, Luminare Pasinia may be found outside the city on a hill at /loc -249, -2351, 342.

In 2016 on TLP (Ragefire with Kunark enabled) she is located at -3955.45, 2626.09, -77.97 (in the building with caster GMs and spell vendors).

You say, 'Hail, Luminare Pasinia'

Luminare Pasinia waves her hands as if to cast a spell. 'GREETINGS!! I am the Luminare of Firiona by decree of his royal highness, King Thex,I am here to research spells and artifacts. I have much to do. I welcome any enchanter who offers to [assist the great Luminare].'

You say, 'I will assist the great Luminare.'

Luminare Pasinia says 'And great I am, indeeed!! Alas, not great enough to be everywhere at once. I would gladly reward you if you would [collect components] for me.'

You say, 'I will collect components for you.'

Luminare Pasinia says 'Then go into the wilds beyond the outpost and upon your return, you shall give to me the powder of Nok, heart of ice. Ton warrior totem, and a sabertooth tiger mane. This shall earn you knowledge of an enchanter spell I recently scribed.'

1) Powder of Nok - Nok Shaman Powder (identifies as "Powder of Nok") comes from a "froglok nok shaman" in the north area of this zone. It looks like black pixie dust.

2) Heart of Ice - This is dropped by various icebone skeletons in the Lake of Ill Omen, the Swamp of No Hope, or Kurn's Tower.

3) Ton Warrior Totem - This is dropped by various frogloks found in the froglok city in the Swamp of No Hope, and identifies as "Key of Dai -I.". They spawn apparently in several places but aren't very common.

4) Sabertooth Mane - These drop off the sabertooth Tigers found in Lake of Ill Omen, the Overthere, and Trakanon's Teeth.

Bring these items back to Luminare:

Luminare Pasinia says 'Do you not remember that I asked for powder of Nok, a Ton warrior totem, a heart of ice and a sabertooth tiger mane? Incomplete deeds shall fetch no enchanter reward.'
Luminare Pasinia says 'Do you not remember that I asked for powder of Nok, a Ton warrior totem, a heart of ice and a sabertooth tiger mane? Incomplete deeds shall fetch no enchanter reward.'
Luminare Pasinia says 'Do you not remember that I asked for powder of Nok, a Ton warrior totem, a heart of ice and a sabertooth tiger mane? Incomplete deeds shall fetch no enchanter reward.'
Luminare Pasinia places the items into a sack and removes a scroll from her robe. This is yours. A spell I discovered and translated for one with less intelligence than the great Luminare of Firiona Vie. You may kiss my feet now.'
Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got better.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got worse.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
You gain experience!!

You receive a scroll called Vision of Sebilite, which scribes as the spell "Illusion Iksar."

"Ton Warrior Totem" - Drops in Swamp of No Hope as well
# Jul 04 2011 at 4:14 PM Rating: Decent
There's loads of good advice below, and 3 out of 4 items really aren't a problem to get.

You're likely going to run into more issues with the "Ton Warrior Totem" though! As posted around the site, you could sit in FV at the Crossroads, wait for the chance of a ton warrior to walk into the cave but what seemed easier was going to the Froglok City in Swamp of No Hope.

People talk of "a froglok krup guard". I cleared plenty of froggies, never saw one of these guards but the froglok ton warriors do spawn here too! My heart sank when the first one dropped a totem fragment (related to a different quest), but after logging and coming back 6 hours later - there was another froglok ton warrior up at the top of the ramp in the first cluster of huts! Killed him, dropped the totem (an orange thing).

Would advise just camping and rechecking that first set of huts - there's a nasty red mob further around for the shaman cudgel. Good luck!

I was able to Multi-quest these 4 items. My druid tracked down the ton warrior. My monk got the other 3 items. I turned in totem first my druid got, then the 3 my monk got. Received Vision of Sebilite, gave to my chanter. Walla - Illusion of Iksar.
Shame, after all these years, I never needed this spell until SoD expansion came out. Now I wont need Mask of Illusion.

How to complete
# Jan 19 2009 at 8:39 PM Rating: Decent
I did this quest today (01/19/2009), and sent in a correction earlier for the exact location of "Luminare Pasinia". I believe the location was +242, -3230, inside the southern most walled-structure inside the "good" camp (in the FV Zone).

The four items that drop to be turned in are No Trade, but the quest result is tradeable.

I did this quest easily with my 73 Cleric and gave the spell to my 20 Enchanter.

If you don't have the faction/race/whatever to do the turn-ins, get an alt or a friend to do it.

Edit to add:

Regarding: "1) Powder of Nok"
--I found my froglok nok shaman by going to Ruins/Leechfields in FV (look up the old maps on eqatlas.com if you don't know it). It dropped off every one of the "froglok nok shaman"s that attacked me.

Regarding: "2) Heart of Ice"
--I found my icebone skeleton near the Sarnak Fort in LOIO. First kill dropped it.

Regarding: "3) Ton Warrior Totem"
--I believe "3)" to be somewhat inaccurate. It dropped for me off a "froglok ton warrior" in FV near the draknids, East side of the stream about halfway between the Dreadlands tunnels and the zone in to LOIO. The item's name was "Ton Warrior Totem". First kill dropped it.

Regarding: "4) Sabertooth Mane"
--The "Sabertooth Mane" dropped off the first sabertooth I saw and killed in LOIO on my way from the FV zone in to "The Windmill".

I looted all 4 items with my 73 Cleric before I got the quest. I went through the dialog with Luminare Pasinia and turned in all 4 items at the same time. The spell was tradeable.

I hope the above helps.

I know this is really late, but if the posts are correct and you can MQ this, then if you have other toons that can get to FV and see her, then I would do that. It's much easier on the nerves, and you won't have to worry about getting beaten by the "good guys" trying to get the spell.

if u enter FV from PoK once u come out of the tunnels just run pretty much strain across the zone from there.... lots of mobs in between so be careful. on the other side there will be a pair of guards at an entryway that is where many of the old city residents now are including bankers. there is a set of ruins that they all hang out in now since the evilness overran the once pretty city

Okay, for those of you who are actually working on this quest, I have an update. FV has obviously changed recently (past year) as I have been gone from EQ. The LOC states that Luminaire is located at +240 - 3230, which is where all the HE are now moved to. However, I stood over that exact coordinates, and she was not there. Fyrefly was the only thing that was there. Maybe one of you will have better luck, but I sure didn't. If you do go try it out, make sure you're Illusioned HE if you aren't a high elf by birth. Somebody help me out if you can, she seems very lost in the zone. May try a ranger and see if they can find her.

My brother helped me with this quest today. I am a DE, so I used High Elf illusion, and the turn in worked at level 18. The turn in was worth 7% exp. If you are in FV at this level, be very careful. Some Drolvargs see invis, and the pilgrims see invis. These mobs for the most part are red.

I did not see any mobs around the "good" FV NPCs, so once you get to the guards and into that small section of the zone, I think you are safe.

Good luck!

It Can Be Done With A Low Level Enchanter
# Jan 12 2005 at 7:08 AM Rating: Excellent
Just a note to add a glimer of hope to all of those level 20 enchanters who fear they will not be able to take on the form of an Iksar before thier mid-thirties. Using the information on this forum I was able to successfully complete this quest as a 21st level enchanter, without the aid of a tracker, or even a group for that matter.

My gear is mid-range, allowing me a base 225 int, 176 cha, and the rest of my stats barely top 100. Just make sure that both you and your pet, (would suggest using Sisna's Animation instead of charm) are temped. Also, and this is just as important, make certain to equip your pet with some mage summoned gear. I did a bazaar search (search keyword "summoned") and found the fist, the belt, and the haste mask for my pet all for about 10pp each. The dps of your pet is greatly increased. This becomes extremely important when you consider at least two of the mobs you will be facing during the course of this quest, probably have more hitpoints than you with temp at this level.

The easiest item to obtain is the Sabre Tooth Tiger Mane. There should be no problem finding a Sabre Tooth Tiger shortly after arriving in Lake of Ill Omen. They are dark blue to me at level 21, and a melee class, therefore the obvious strategy of slow and weaken apply. I found one almost imediately after stepping into the zone.

The next easiest step is taking out the Icebone Skeleton. After you arive in Lake of Ill Omen, follow the zone line left. It is quite a long way to reach the skeleton camp. You will pass a giant rotating structure with a few npc's located inside. Keep following the zone line with the zone edge to your left. Eventually you will come across a smaller structure with skeletons located inside. Keep in mind that if you see the large Sarnak fort, you have gone too far. The Icebone that I killed was wondering near the skeleton camp. This mob was yellow to me. Once again though, it is a melee class. Using slow and weaken alowed for a fairly easy victory. A victory that is truly only made possible by your twinked out pet. Your pet, with the right tools, will certainly do more damage than you can using melee, choke, and sanity warp combined.

The third step of this quest was a little more tricky. As mentioned in previous posts, Firiona Vie is extremely difficult to hunt without a coordinated group. It is made even more difficult when you consider that 90% of the mobs in the zone will be red to you at level 21. You will have the best chance by staying along the zone edge. Where ever you are in the zone, have the zone wall right at your back. I chose a spot near the first Swamp of No Hope zone enterance. If you travel to Firiona by the Plane of Knoledge book, follow the tunnel into the main zone area. From there turn left and hug the zone edge closely. You will pass a river (the enterance to Lake of Ill Omen) and shortly there after you will arive at a nice open low patch where the ground has a different texture. This spot is right at the mouth of where the Swamp of No Hope empties into Firiona Vie.
There are a couple of reasons to select a spot like this to pull. First of all, if you need to run, you are close to a zone. You will not have to gate and run all the way back from the Pok, or where ever you are bound. The second reason is because the mob pathing seems to be outside of this area. I found that few mobs will wander in to this area (and other areas like this that are close to a zone line) unless they are chasing you. In this particular case, the main reason this spot is good is because it is close to the mobs you will be pulling. During the day time, there are any number of frogs running around everywhere in this area.

Now it is time to pick out your pull.
I spent a few minutes targeting and considering the frogloks running by. The Froglok Nok Shaman is a regular mob in this area.
It if VERY important to understand that as a low level, you need to be patient. Pick your pull wisely. Wait until one runs right by your pull area if you have to.
Even more important to remember; This is the first casting class mob you will be pulling for this quest. I know if you are level 21 or under, he WILL be a red mob. Now, if you have not already noticed, when you have your animated pet, and you use an aggro spell such as languid pace, or tashani to pull a casting mob, the mob will often start his attack by casting a spell on you. Due to the fact that you have no control over an animated pet, your pet will then subequently run after the mob. The next thing you know, your pull is no longer a pull, and your pet is getting killed somewhere out in the middle of the zone. Instead, try using enthrall as your pull spell. Provided it sticks on the first cast, you are then able to slow, debuff, and weaken the mob without breaking the mez. Make sure to use tashani before slowing and or weakening. These are red mobs and you want to do everything you can to make sure spells are not resisted. After the mob has been mezzed, debuffed, and slowed, his hate toward you should be great enough that he will run right at you after the mezz breaks. To help make sure of this, I used choke to break the mezz when I was ready. This solves the problem of having to deal with your pet streaking out after a mob that has cast a spell on you. Furthermore, if any mob does cast a spell on you from a distance, and your pet takes off after him, you can always mesmerize the mob, and your pet will then return to you.
After you have the Froglok Nok Shaman positioned in your pull area, the battle begins. By this time, he's slowed, weakened, tashani'ed, and dotted. Your pet is likely already pummeling him, and what little damage you do with your blunt or pierce weapon, (which is probably very little) is suplimented by casting sanity warp as often as you can. Also make sure to repeat cast choke. I went through 3 choke cycles during this battle, and cast sanity warp at least 4 times. Also make sure to root before he reaches 20% health. These Froglok shamans run very fast.

And now to the most difficult part of the quest: The Froglok Ton Warrior. The difficulty is not in the battle, but in locating the mob. First of all DO NOT make the mistake of attacking a Froglok Ton Knight instead of a Froglok To Warrior. My first attempt to obtain the final piece of this quest started with a successfull pull of a Froglok Ton Knight. These are common mobs and are about 10 levels higher than the mobs we are looking for. It is hard enough for us to kill a level 22-25 mob, and the Froglok Ton Knights are around level 35. Needless to say, after only taking him down to about 80%, he sent me running for the swamp, cowering like a scared puppy with about 115 hit points left. Even after using tashani, he resisted everything, multiple times. Makes sense considering he is probably 15 levels into the red for us.
So whats next? Hah, so you say we have to wonder around this zone to find the mob we want? Lol yea right. Sure enough, there is no easy way to locate the Froglok Ton Warrior without a tracker. Let me just say that sow, or jboots is our best defense against getting completely owned in this zone. I wandered around for about an hour looking. I targeted every froglok I saw. It was fortunate that I only aggroed one mob during this time. A drolvrag attacked, and after mezzing, he lost interest and walked away. If you have to, cast memmory blur a couple of times after mezzing, and you should hopefully lose aggro.
The only advise I have to give on locating our mob, is the in-game map. If you look at the in-game map, the large brown area in the middle of the zone, away from the city, is where I found the ton warrior. In fact, I found him twice in that area. Once you get there you will notice the area looks like a bunch of ruins, all located on dried-up ground. The first warrior I killed was yellow to me, and did not drop the totem. The second warrior I killed was red, and he dropped our quest piece.

The only thing I can say about hunting out in the open like this is watch your back. Fortunately this particular area is a little more open. It is less crouded by trees and therefore visibility is better. If you are in the middle of battle, and you see a mob coming your way, mezz the mob you are attacking, and back away for a few seconds. The wandering mob should just walk right by.

And now to the point of this post:
I am on the Firiona Vie (roleplay prefered) server. I am new to this server, and therefore am not well geared. There is only one character allowed on this server, so twinking a low level character is more difficult to do.
***The only advantages I was able to give myself in order to complete this quest at level 21 are: Temp, a Temped Pet, Mage weapons and haste mask for my pet, and (through much practice in pok) decent casting skills (alter, abjur, conjur, divin, evoc). These are all things that most players can offer themselves at this level, for a small invistment.

I look foward to starting this quest all over again. On FV server, most are high level characters and have very little interest in low level quests. However, there has been a recent, and very large, increase in new charcters on this server as a result of the release of EQ2. Many other servers are dying, and FV seems to be one of the few that is still populated.
I have never once seen this spell for sale in the bazaar on FV, and therefore am hoping that it will fetch a nice price for me, after I complete this quest again.

outstanding write up, thank you.
I have played a number of years but never as an Enchanter (or any other caster).
Your write up on pulling the froglok shaman was a nice lesson in itself, this problem was beginning to vex me and now I understand how it should be done,

thanks again

Wait in the tunnel. There's a spawn that comes right in the tunnel every 10 to 15 minutes or so and wanders in pretty far. None of the npc's on FV faction attack frogs so it won't get ks'ed. It may take a few spawns there to get the totem but it's easier than wandering the middle.

I did this at 41st, but I would agree it CAN be done at a far lower level. Patience and stealth are key.

The totem was the easiest for me. Went invisible and wandered the city looking for the Krup Guard. I mezzed the other frog in the tent with him and choked the guard, calm and mem blur the add, then nuked the krup guard. The add walks back to his spawn loc as long as he doesnt walk over you he won't aggro.

Krup Guard dropped the totem and the shield.

The levels on the shaman in FV that drops the powder seem to vary GREATLY. Some were dark blue to me at 41st. Some green. Just be patient and find one that you can pull away from any possible adds.

Get the Heart of Ice in the Swamp. There is a skeleton camp west and slightly north of the froglok town. I got the Heart on the first kill of the Icebone skeleton and he was an easy single pull from the group.

I have to assume the mane drops more often off the tigers in Lake of Ill Omen. I spent alot of time in Overthere and never saw one. I didn't go to the Lake, though. I stopped by the bazaar on my way there and found a mane for 1 pp.

Keep invisiblity up the whole time until you find your quarry. Then check for potential adds and pull if everything looks ok.

To complete this quest I killed one Froglok Krup Guard in Swamp of No Hope, one Icebone Skeleton in Swamp of No Hope, one Froglok Nok Shaman in FV, bought mane in Bazaar. I made no other kills to do this.

EDIT Thought I'd add that I'm a dark elf and did the turn in with high elf illusion. I used Benevolence too, but that may have been overkill. Watch out when hunting the shaman too. There is a named butterfly in FV that likes to hang out in that area. She quads for up to 120ish. I think a high elf illusion might help there but I'm not sure.
