Well Im glad some of you have at least found headbands cuz Ive killed at least 300 of the raiders and the only drops Ive gotten are the loincloth and the carved wooden mask. I guess they dont drop on Cazic Thule.
ok.. what about Dark Elves

I am immediately KoS in that zone.. I follow Solusek Ro so I'm not all bad.. but. my wizard being a dark elf.. she steps one foot there.. and she's tackled by every friggin guard that place has... so how do I get around this to even start the quest?
Just my opinion, but...

If you even THINK that you will EVER wish to work on raising Cabilis factions, then just slaughter goblins in every corner of Kunark and sidestep this quest entirely.

Killing Kunark goblins raises Firiona Vie AND Legion of Cabilis factions, so obtaining the Goblin Raider Headbands covers those two, but turning them in to Captain Keatar gives another boost to FV and dumps some of your gain with the harder to raise Legion of Cabilis faction.

Emerald Warriors and Storm Guard factions are easy enough to raise in the less restrictive and more manageable GFay zones, so they are not much of an issue.

Whichever way you choose to approach this, best of luck in your efforts.

Kill lots of goblins to make it to non kos to the Firiona Vie faction (guards and merchants). Some of the mobs inside FV are on Clerics of Tunare faction (the only way for you to get to non kos to them is to trash your neriak cleric guild faction), a faction that gets trashed when you hunt in Plane of Growth. There are a couple of wandering npcs on Emerald Brotherhood (Greater Faydark guards) faction as well (they are mostly along the cliff, east of the outpost). I have not personally seen any Storm Guard (Butcherblock, Dwarven guards) faction npcs in FV. The huts that Captain Keatar is in have only FV faction npcs, there is a Cleric of Tunare faction npc on the perimeter wall nearby, but out of aggro range.

Note: Captain Keatar will give you the quest at dubious, but will eat your bracers.

I ran around the Cabilis newbie zoned and took down every single goblin for 20 min (probably 100-120) and not one dropped a headband.

# Dec 06 2002 at 11:04 PM Rating: Good
I hunted for over four hours in that valley by Cabilis in Lake of Ill Omen, and didn't find a single headband. I killed mostly Outriders and Hunters, but also tried Watchers and Scouts.

I am not a high enough level to take down the actual Goblin Raiders in Firiona Vie, but my guess is that these headbands only drop off them now, which makes sense considering what Captain Keatar says.

Based on that assumption, this quest is no longer worth it. The Charisma armor you get from the Battlemaster quest just isn't that good once you are advanced enough to fight around those spiders in FV. You could probably earn more than enough money to buy Charisma gear if you need it. Also the experience from the quests would be pretty much nill at that point.

The only reason I see to do this quest is so you can say that you did it.

It tooke me about 1 1/2 to maybe 2 hours to get 8 headbands which took me from indifferent to ambile in just 4 headbands, i got 1gp and a wooden shield, then for the next 4 i got 10gp and a wooden shield, did anyone get anything different as the minor item?

# Mar 25 2002 at 12:17 AM Rating: Default
You can find Captain Keatar in a house down by the water on the bank side of the bank. The safest way to get the red head bands are off Goblin Outriders and Hunters in LOIO up near calabis. Three spawn in a ruined house a little ways out in front of the city. Kill these three easily as they'll be green to you. Loot and look for the no drop headband. Now go out into the field around the house. This is your farm. If any of the Iksar noobs cuss you for farming their area direct them to field of bone on the other side of their city, a much better area for them. Yes, I farmed this spot for six hours to collect the 16 headbands i needed to get the faction for the battlemaster quest. Of corse I'm a dorf maybe it wont be so tough for you, stinkin elves.

Hey all,

Just my opion here, i havent done the raiders quest yet, but soloing Battlemasters has been a great source of exp. and i am saving up all the Bracers for when i do the Headband quest and my faction is high enough.
Also, Faydark mail is not better than Banded, it has lower AC and roughly the same weight. the only reason for this armor is bragging rights(for a full set) and when your dwarf paladin has a charisma of 55, everylittle bit helps.

I did this 2 or 3 times with my level 8 Ranger just for fun one day. The headbands drop off Goblin Scouts, Outriders, Watchers, Hunters and Raiders. If you want to level fast, and you are around level 8+ then this quest if awesome. The loot is junk but the exp is great. The 2 or 3 times I did this I got a LOT of exp. If I remember correctly, I got 2+ yellow bubs. You get +FV faction and -Cabilis Faction.
Headbands in LOIO
# Oct 24 2001 at 4:05 PM Rating: Decent
The red headbands can be found in LOIO on Goblin Hunters and Goblin Outriders.

I have never seen a Goblin Raider in LOIO (But I have seen them along the stream in FV that leads to LOIO).

Turning in 4 headbands from Hunters and Outriders to Captain Keatar gets you all the experience and faction you get from turning in the headbands found on the Raiders in FV. However, my dwarven cleric (who has only done this 2x so far) is still indifferent to him and he has not given her the Battlemaster Bracer quest yet, He says I still need to prove myself. Hope this helps someone...

One of the 2 ruined houses infront of the ent to cabilis in ill omen is filled with goblins, clear the house in order to get the raider to spawn.

ok, lets get this straight. The raiders and outriders in FV do drop the red headbands, but they are MUCH higher level than the goblin raiders and outriders in the LOIO zone, they are found up next to west cabilis, in the iksar newbie area there.

Give 4 at a time to Capt. Keatar, for faction and a minor item (usually junk).

Now, gob brcers drop off the battlemasters in LOIO and in warsliks woods, warsliks woods is FULL of them compared to LOIO, and the drop rate is also higher. Also, i have found that sometimes, the goblin brawlers drop these, these are the ONLY two types of gobs that will drop these bracers, and BTW, the gob battlemasters in warsliks woods and LOIO are WAY lower level than the ones in FV, but they still drop the bracers.

Give 4 at a time to capt keatar, for a randome piece of faydark ringmail, sweet lookin armor and it's free! repeat : FREE.

No, it aint ry'gorr, but it's FREE.
Know what kind of armor is the best kind? The FREE kind. Use it yourself, your twinks, or sell it to other players. Very nice reward for killing something you prolly was gonna kill anyways for exp.

The quest giver asks for headbands from goblin raiders. There are goblin raiders in the game, but I've never actually seen the headbands drop from them (I've killed several goblin raiders in Firiona Vie inside the Drolvarg camp, through the tunnel). Just because I've never had one drop from them doesn't mean that they won't, though, likely just that it's a rare drop from them. The raiders in FV seem to be low 30-ish.

The red headbands drop off of goblin scouts, watchers, outriders, hunters, thiefs and possibly some other low level goblins. I've collected them in the newbie area in Lake of Ill Omen, and in Warsliks Woods. You can collect them easily from the low level goblins.

On a side note about the battlemasters for the related quest, the battlemasters in Warsliks Woods and Lake of Ill Omen are much lower level than the battlemasters in Firiona Vie.
RE: Confusion about mobs
# Jan 26 2002 at 10:43 PM Rating: Decent
Try the gob scoutes in Lake of Ill Oman. My lvl 7 iksar monk gets headbands all the time. Just my faction is to low to approach Fiona Vie. As well as my lvls. Last time I tryed (last night) I was single shot killed by the Firona Bixie after turning up the costline from the river. I did not even get the town in sight. Still having to take the existance of the town on faith as far as my monk is conserned.

Collecting the head bands was easy. I am a 26th level ranger and I retrieved four headbands within 30 minutes. You can get them from Goblin Hunters and Outriders, best place to find them is near the West Cabilis zone in Lake of Ill Omen. All were green and easy to take out.

Yes. But you need high aimiable faction with FV. I just campped gobs til I could turn in all the bracers
Quest Summary
# Jun 20 2001 at 11:57 AM Rating: Default
Posted 20 June 2001. I am a 35 Ranger, and did this quest solo to move on to the battlemasters quest. This is my only character, and I don't have the benefit of being twinked, so I want to get some of that faydark armor.

The Goblin Raider quest is HARD! I would see raiders on track every 10 minutes or so, but it's very dicey as a solo 35 to be running around Firiona Vie. The raiders seem to spawn somewhere in the eastern half of the zone, and wander west past the ruins and into the spiders.

At 35, the raiders were usually blue, sometimes green, but never too hard for me. With my own buffs and DOTs, I never went below 50% HP. Take good care NOT to engage a goblin while among the spiders, though. If you must, DOT the goblin and train it back to the road where you can flee south to the safety of the Drixies and Pilgrims if things go badly.

The reward and EXP I got were insignificant. To me, the quest was sort of a waste. Took me well over 8 hours of careful tracking while camo'd to get all 4 headbands. The headbands drop about 20% of the time, I think. I hope the battlemasters quest is more worthwhile.

As a side note, soloing leeches and lampreys at 35 in Firiona Vie is productive. They don't run when low on HP (which means they don't cause trains), and none of the other mobs aggro to assist them. When I'm properly buffed, they don't hit too hard.

Eq has been on stores for such a long time im afraid they going to give it even for free when buying Coke for instance, so a high percentage of people playing this game have nowadays some uber chars , or at least mid level, able to buy better stuff from other players. But lets imagine you start playing this game, or you go to play on Test Server ( where stuff is not so common, and no real market... pp is worth nothing there ) you will discover you are a mid 10ish char still wearing some leather or whatever 'crap' armor . I remember when i started playing, yes... i arrived to kunark just with a dwarven ringmail as my best item... so, what the heck he gives you armor better than banded just for killing some mobs you gonna kill anyway to get exp. Its worth of course it is, just save those bracers and when you head to town to get supplies deliver it, and if you are such a twink you really think its not worth for you , then do the quest , get the faction hits and give the armor for free to someone who could use it, that sthe philosophy ! :) Have fun and help as much you can other people
RE: Is worth a quest like this ? Yes, i think so.

Btw, im talking about the Gobbo Bracers quest you get when delivering the headbans. Sorry for the mistake when posting, well at least its related ... but it should be on the Bracers page and not here.
gob hunters and outriders
# May 17 2001 at 7:32 PM Rating: Decent
actually i did this and only outriders and an occasional watcher gave me the headbands.
but the problem is i did it twice and it did not clear the raider quest to give me the battlemaster quest.
also you can just give him gob battlemaster bracers anyway and get random faydark ringmail pieces.
the common pieces are legs,bracers.
i have turned the bracers in about 10 times and these are the things i got most;
4 fay ring bracers,
4 fay ring legs,
1 fay ring boots,
1 fay ring gloves.
so you can see how common the first 2 are.
but cant complain since i sold 1 pair of legs for 500pp!!!
and the gob bracers quest is so easy it is a very good payoff.
Red Headbands not Goblin Raider Headbands

Time should be about 1hr.
Lvl should be 6. (most dangerous part is run to FV)
Faction is correct.
Reward: Minor Item, cash, exp.

Red Headbands drop off of Goblin Outriders and Goblin Hunters in LoIO. Drop rate is about 1 in 4. By the time I killed 10 or so Goblins to get 4 headbands, I was amiable to Capt. Keater. I was indifferent before that.

# Jan 17 2001 at 9:22 PM Rating: Good
This weekend my favorite goblins started dropping Red Headbands. These are NODROP but not LORE. I Identified them as Goblin Raider Headbands. This quest just got MUCH easier.

The goblins that I saw dropping them are in the rightmost hut outside Cabalis in Lake of Ill Omen. (Just off the paved area)

This hut is the spawn point for three goblins, generally Outriders with the occasional Hunter. I understand from others that other goblins in Ill Omen are now dropping these as well.

I have been trying to improve my faction in Cabalis and have killed all of the goblins I can find (including these) hundreds of times. (Not enough yet as I am still KOS to the troopers)

This weekend was the first time I've been back since the patch and I noticed these new drops. In about 12 kills I've gotten four headbands.

Faction Adjustments for the quest are:
+ Firiona Vie
+ Emerald Warriors
+ Storm Guard
- Legion of Cabalis
- Pirates of Gunthak

RE: Also Hunters and
# Jun 11 2001 at 3:16 AM Rating: Decent
Can confirm that goblins in LOIO newbie area (near cabilis) drop these. Probably took me 20-30 kills to get four. I was amiable to Keater before I even gave him the headbands, just from killing the goblins. Two off Hunters, two off Outriders. Don't know level, but I would guess somewhere in 5-10.

The headbands a recent addition?
# Nov 20 2000 at 12:21 PM Rating: Default
or not so recent maybe? I remember trying to do this quest on and off ever since Kunark came out, killing a raider or two every time I passed thru F.V., no drops at all. Killed 30 of em in one sitting when a friend was trying to do some monk quest that turned into a 4 day camp. No drops at all. When were the goblins itemized? How rare are the bands? argh. Wish the GM could have confirmed or denied the quest functionality when I petitioned it =(
