    This task follows 'Portal Activation: Dangerous Ground' and is given by Archarcanist Kirstmycl at the pad near the market (-866, -603) in Katta Castrum.

    You say, 'Hail, Archarcanist Kirstmycl'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'Hello ______. What brings you to our fine [city]?'

    You say, 'City?'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'Well, that is interesting. I have been studying the teleportation [portals] for many years in order to refine our understanding of them.'

    You say, 'Portals?'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'While we did not create the original portals, we have learned how to create them. If you are interested I can give you some [history] on the portals. Or maybe you are more interested in learning how to [use] the ones here in Katta Castrum.'

    You say, 'I am more interested in learning to use them.'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'When we created the portals we made many improvements over the original portals. Amongst these changes were some enchantments that would not allow the portals to teleport the user anywhere where they could not survive, such as within rock, or deep under water for those that cannot breath [sic] it normally. When Prexus sunk [sic] Katta Castrum, these enchantments stayed sound, so you may find that many of the portals in the outer ward no longer function properly. When the Shissar invaded, they further [tampered] with the portals so that they may use them.'

    You say, 'Tampered?'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'We are not sure exactly what they have done, but we have found that one must now attune themselves to the portals in groups. These groups sometimes seem to make little sense, other than they seem to be in three groups that go from the safest to reach to the most dangerous and protected by the Shissar. If you are interested, I can give you [instructions] on what you will need to do to gain access to the portals.'

    You say, 'Give me the instructions.'

    Archarcanist Kirstmycl says 'Very good. Here is what you need to do.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Portal Activation: War Torn Portals'.

    The teleporters farthest away from the Combine controlled area have begun to deteriorate due to the constant fighting around them. For these teleporters to be useable again [sic] they need to have their preservation and teleportation spells refreshed. This can be done with the wand from Archarcanist Kirstmycl by standing in the middle of the teleporters and activating the wand. As always in that area, keep an eye out for any Shissar. You will receive portal keys here also when you refresh the portals, be sure to keep them as he will need to attune them to you.
    Retrieve the last of the portal keys. This will be in the most dangerous parts of Katta Castrum near the arena where the Shissar have the strongest hold. You will likely be ambushed by increasingly strong creatures. You will also need to use the wand that you have been given to stabilize the portals. With their instability, you may encounter more bits of chaotic portal energy, so be careful. While you are in the area, kill at least 15 Shissar to reduce their numbers.

    The portals should be strong enough to withstand at least another several months of the raging conflict now. The portal keys you gathered will enable you to use those teleporters as needed.

    Mobs spawn BEFORE clicking the wand.

    Dont expect to be able to click the wand and then have mobs spawn, they spawn before you even reach the portal.

    I could take this task with my lvl 70 character. So lvl 75 is wrong.
    Reward is : 75 platinum + faction with Combine Empire Merchants + experience.

    You should have all nine portal keys in your inventory(not in bank) to get reward.

    Archarcanist Kirtmycl says 'You will need all nine portal keys in order to be properly attuned to the portals. You will need to try again to retrieve them.'

    not all mobs chase you

    Not all the mobs will chase you across the zone.

    Basically I ran through the portal on my horse and clicked the item to update or get an extra add.

    Ran away from the portal a bit, fd and then stood up, only a couple of the shissar would follow and if you are really lucky they will fight the unstable add for an update!

    I would then run a bit further and only have to fight a couple of shissar per portal, worked out just enough to do the task stage, much faster than fighting 4-6 per portal.

    I think for a non FD class, once you get out of range agro, that again only a couple will follow.

    OMG u guys are slackers this is easy cheezey all u need is a chanter and monk/rog with the AE mez disc have 1 person trigger the mobs the monk hits disc pulls mob then chanter catches the rest usual only 3-4 pop mobs easy for any chanter, last portal at Outer Dena Zeku and Outer Dena had some red cons unmezzable. Have only 1 person click at time dont think there is a time limit on the ambush mobs repop i do know u have a bunch of poeple clicking u get a TON of mobs and if a whirlwind mob pops u have to kill it and whatever u do not click till it dead it also cast a silence that is a major mana drain. Also the grp should be on very bottom of the portal and monl/rog have the AE mez disc but is better with a monk for pulling reasons mobs are easy kills but golems have a very nasty slow.

    It's not possible for bards to fade aggro from the original 3 or 6 mobs that spawn here. They hunt you down, seemingly across the zone!

    You need a group or two, capable of handling the initial rush of 3-6 mobs. The groups stay down the bottom while one tank goes up to spawn the initial mobs. These need to be offtanked, kited or mezzed, mezzing's probably the easiest if you can. Once you have all the initial mobs under control, people can go up one at a time and click their wand to update their task. If a mob spawns as you click your wand it will need killing before you get the update. If people go up 1 or 2 at a time it should be routine.

    If you kill the original group of mobs, it appears you have a limited amount of time to do the clicking before they can be triggered again. If this time limit runs out when you have more than one person up there be prepared to be swamped. You will get 3-6 mobs for each person!

    If you get a message "The spell fizzles are you are not in the proper location", stop clicking! This means you already have that one and you only have a limited number of charges.

    Rogue Escape doesn't work 100% either. I had one snake following me after escaping. I had sneak/hide on and he was still following me, even tho when I conned him during this, he was indifferent. Only way I got away from him was to zone out to Atiki.
    Also, if you have multiple clickers in your group, you can spawn more than one of the chaotic portal energy mobs.

    this should be the correct quest directions (note beza azau not outer azia again) and the locs. a couple of the locs may not be completely accurate. i slacked on recording them. ;) quite simply- whichever portals you did not go to in any previous quest- these are those. the standard triple sets with the functioning one in the center and azau/zeku to either side.

    for this quest, you can kill any shissar, they do not have to be spawned from the portals (as they do in the previous quest)

    this one also, can be soloed, but not by everyone. enjoy!

    where to start--if you open your map and think of the outside pads as a giant clock then the first one is at 8:00 last one 11:00---nine pads you need to click the wand on, the Zhisza pad is one you need to click also.

    I have done all the steps here except the last portal (Dena Zeku). I can not find it. I believe I went in order (clockwise) and hit every portal - and I have randomly tried the net several on both ends of the outer ring. Does anyone have a map or /loc for this last portal?

    The one you are looking for is actually the Zhisza Portal just go up to it and click your wand and it gives you piece no Nob spawns unless you maybe get the Chaotic guy.

    Keys/Bottles

    I have yet to get one of the keys/bottles for this task. I have been able to activate the wand at the right spot, but all that does is say an emote about repairing the gateway and then a "chaotic portal energy" spawns.

    Do you have to kill the "chaotic portal energy" to get the keys/bottles?

    One thing to note - you only get (20) charges with the wand, so don't waste them.

    I have only done the two first, but I'd say this task should not be marked 'solo', even at 75, unless it's much easier than the first two. Some of those trap mobs hit hard and fast, and when you get three at a time... *shudder*

    the reason it's marked as solo does not have to do with the challenge or difficulty of the quest. it has to do with the task being available solo as opposed to a group task which requires at least 3 people.

    The 2nd to last step is to turn in the wand Archarcanist Kirstmycl gives you to repair and reactivate the portals, and the last step is to hail him. The reward is faction with the Combine Merchants and exp.

    There will still be ambushes for the portals associated with this task, and when you click the wand (I forget the name) occasionally a chaotic portal energy will spawn. I think I had about 1 in 3.
