You say, 'Hail, Sir Hobble'

Sir Hobble holds a cracked monocle up to his squinting eye. 'I say!! A talking bear!! Squire Fuzzmin, come and take a gander at this rare find! The wonders never cease in the land of Kunark!!'

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

You say, 'What quest is Sir Hobble on?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Sir Hobble is searching for [three special dragons]. For all I know, they're not even dragons. He can't see or hear very well. He still thinks I am the only troll squire around.'

Sir Hobble tries to slash a drachnid webstrander, but misses!

You say, 'What three special dragons?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Apparently he is after three dragons which are supposedly named Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfl. He will not rest until he holds their scales. I wish you could [find the dragons].'

You say, 'I will find the dragons'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'If you bring me three scales I will be able to place them upon the next three victims of Sir Hobble. Then we can depart from this accursed isle. He would never know the difference. Do this and I will give you a warrior weapon out of the old knight's armory.'

Get the first two scales from the named wurms in the Burning Woods, Azdalin and Gylton.

For the third scale, you'll have some running around to do. Begin by giving two Carnelians to Tektite, a gargoyle guard in The Overthere:

Tektite takes one hand and pries out one of his eyes, which he casts far into the plains. He then places the carnelian into his eye socket. He turns towards you and holds open his palm.

Tektite pries out his other eye and places the second carnelian gem in its place. His eyes burn brightly with scarlet fire. He then hands you a fragment of Tektite.

(In the alternative, you can kill him to get the Tektite.)

Then take the Tektite to the Temple of Solusek Ro and find Lord Lyfyx of Burwood.

You say, 'Hail, Lord Lyfyx of Burwood'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood bows as a courtesy. His face gleams as if tinged with red. 'Greetings, my friend. Welcome to the Temple of Ro, sanctuary to those who follow the words of the Burning Prince.'

You say, 'What Burning Prince?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'Who is Doowrub fo Xyfyl Drol?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'So you can pronounce my name backwards.. Is that your lot in life? Pronouncing names backwards? Be gone with your silliness! We need no court fool.'

You say, 'What is the Temple of Ro?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'What about dragon scales?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'Tektite and peridot shall get you what you desire.'

Hand him the Tektite and a Peridot.

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood places the gems inside an ornate metal box. He begins to tug at his skin. Your vision blurs as he performs his magic. 'This is what you seek. Now leave and bother me no further.'

Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro got better.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men got worse.
You gain experience!!

Head back to Squire Fuzzmin in Firiona Vie:

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

I don't say anything cause I'm diggin in my bags for the scales, and he goes on to say this, twice in a row:

Squire Fuzzmin says 'I need the three dragon scales of Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfyl.'

Squire Fuzzmin tumbles around and stands on his hands. With his feet, he pulls a long polearm from a nearby weapons cache. 'Woohoo!! I can taste the brew in Freeport already. Here you are, my friend. A real Wurmslayer!!'

Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got better.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got worse.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
You gain experience!!

Can I root the guy?
# Oct 09 2000 at 11:33 PM Rating: Default
Just want to know can I root Fuzz before I pass him the scale? Kind of tough to hand in the scale to him while he's walking around...
Root Hobble - Fuzzman WON'T aggro
# Oct 29 2000 at 11:40 AM Rating: Default
It's easy, when Fuzzman arrives, don't root HIM, root Hobble, get to the outside of Fuzzman so that you're outta Hobbles melee range yet still in range of Fuzzman, and give him the scales - he stands perfectly still - and does NOT attack you.

Hailing the Squire did not keep him from running around. To make it worse, the pathing of the Squire was so terrible. I ended up having a druid friend of mine rooted the Squire and gated out. After that, handing in the scales to him was very easy.

Just Hail him, he'll then stop and you can hand the items over.

Ummm don't you think it might be easier to hand the scales to him while he is walking around than it is when he is beating the crappola out of you...Root is an offensive spell

Is he KoS to a Troll Shadow Knight?
# Oct 05 2000 at 7:18 PM Rating: Default
I'm a lvl 42 Troll Shadow Knight. Will I be KoS to this guy? If so, can I do the quest invised or should I kill the Wurms and get the scales and then give the scales to my twink to get the Wurmslayer.
RE: Is he KoS to a Troll Shadow Knight?
# Oct 15 2000 at 1:58 PM Rating: Default
It sounds like you'd be kos to the Squire. Even if you were not kos to the Squire, there are firinoa drixies and pilgrims roaming the zone. If I were you, I would give the 3 scales to a good friend of mine who has the ability to complete the quest for me. Wurmslayer itself is lore and not a no-drop weapon.

Squire not broken, well, on Nameless

As far as I can tell, Squire Fuzzmin is not broken, as a guildmate of mine just completed the quest today (9/26).

While sitting just outside the hut that has the ramp to the tunnel, good ol' Squire ran right by me. I was on the phone nearly **** a brick and jumped up running after him. Of course he doesn't respond to hails, but, he does kinda run back and forth in a spot, then proceeds a bit further, rinse, repeat often. BUT! The way I ended up doing this is not by rooting him with someone's help, but by running WITH him passing the items to him as we went (being sowed of course, otherwise, forget it!). Got me my experience AND the wurmslayer, which, nicely dropped on the ground because I didn't have an open main slot, but I destoyed a box and placed it neatly in it's place. I'm a happy owner of a wurmslayer : )

To Fuzz or not to Fuzz

Someone related to me that the goblin battlemaster that roams FV at times (not those wimpy Lake BMs ,this guy was whooping me pretty good at 43) is the PH for Hobble, sure nuff, everytime we killed BM, Hobble spawned. Fuzz still runs like a bat out of hell though, and the only way I have found to get him stop long enough to make the switch, aside from root and zone, is to wait just before him ad Hobble engage an enemy. Give him one scale right before he starts fighting, and the trade window will stay open while he fights. Got to be quick though, cause he's liable to take off at any moment. Hope this helps

Spawning Hobble and Fuzzmin How-To
# Sep 08 2000 at 5:15 PM Rating: Default
1. To spawn Sir Hobble, hail Lenka Stoutheart and ask her to show you something interesting. Hobble spawns in the eastern part of the zone and generally runs towards the spider section.

2. To spawn Squire Fuzzmin, hail Sir Hobble. Fuzzy spawns in town in a hut near the Moonpie girl who sells food. He will take the fastest route to Hobble, going either through the underwater tunnel or the town gate. You generally cannot hail Squire Fuzzmin and get him to talk until he has found Sir Hobble.

3. If Sir Hobble is killed, Fuzzy will return to the base of the Firiona statue and teleport around it every 20 seconds until Hobble returns. You cannot hail him during this time.

4. If Sir Hobble and Squire Fuzzmin somehow complete one full circuit without either of them getting killed, Squire Fuzzmin will go to the entrance of the underwater tunnel and just stand around. This is the best time to hail him if you aren't an enchanter.

Actually this does seem to work but it isn't quite this simple. I spent some time doing this today and it is possible that hailing Lenka will indeed spawn Hobble. However this only seems to work during the day. To further complicate things the spawn might not be Hobble. I got some "Shieldbearer" guy once and a high elf caster another time whose name escapes me. Lenka is indeed the trigger but there is some type of rotation as too the spawns. As to what must be said to her, the answer is nothing. Simply hailing her does the trick. Keep in mind that it wont work if you are invisible in some way.

ive done this TIME AND TIME AGAIN! it does NOT cause hobble to spawn, i am a druid and i have has 3 other trackers with me to help find him... we scour the zone NEVER see him.. talking to her has no effect... 8(

I wish i knew the REAL way to spawn him..... i got the damn scales and no one to give them to.

The third scale Xyfyl
# Sep 06 2000 at 8:01 AM Rating: Default
I got the Xyfyl scale tonight with my level 22 Human Enchanter. I bought 2 Carnilians and a Peridot, bound myself in EC by Nec forest. I then ran down to Soro and hoped the barge to TimDeep. I was appre to the ogre guards so no problem, hopped the boat to Overthere. when the boat zones in you can jump off outside of the city, like I did for fear of instant death. Swam to shore, casted Illusion DE and off I went to find Tektite. He is inside the hallway where there are 2 guarding the outside. I casted benevolance(sp) on him handed the 2 carnilians, got the tektite and gated back. I ran to Temple of Sol Ro and found Lord Lyfyl of Bowood. He was indef so I Benevolanced him too. Tell him 'I want your scale' He tells you get him the tektite and a peridot. Give him the items and BAMM your third scale. the tektite is nodrop. the Xyfyl scale isnt. ---- Hudaman <Blackened Heart> Terris-Thule.

Sir Hobbin
# Sep 05 2000 at 7:50 PM Rating: Default
I waited 5 hours running back and forth from the tunnel to the bridge to the firiona vie city. Nothing, Then someone said they saw hobbin fighting at 450, 2600 heading East.. So i ran there, killed the spider he was fighting, hailed him. And would NOT respond. Friend told me that theres a rare version of him that does respond to hail, and a common version of him that does not. So i guess I need to find the rare version of him. Does anyone know where a bouts Sir hobbin spawns, how often, etc.?? Please I really want my wurmslayer, killing the wurms and gullerbacks was hard enough.. heh
oh, and where does fuzbin spawn once I hail hobbin?

Thanks
THIS IS WHERE FUZZY IS!!!
# Sep 01 2000 at 11:07 PM Rating: Default
Wait for Sir Hobble to spawn at the road east and outside the bridge to the city in Fironia Vie. When you see hobble just hail him and keep following him until Squire Fuzzmin arrives, it takes a little bit for him to come but he comes. Then just give him all 3 dragon scales and you get the Wurmslayer. Easy as pie! =D
Sir Hobble
# Aug 31 2000 at 8:31 AM Rating: Default
I've heard that hobble dies pretty fast on his own, and repops about evry 30 min near a drolvarg camp of some kind. Think its one of the two next to drolvarg-oasis, but i still not sure. Can someone comfirm this? Does hobble die easy or do i just need to be able to find him? Anyone seen him since last patch... been searchin and asking for him in ooc since the servers came back up on wensday, noone seem to have seen any of them. Broken again? :|

The followup answer:
# Aug 30 2000 at 2:21 PM Rating: Default
I myself dual wield this weapon with a Yk, though with my sta my bar tends to drop rather quickly. I suggest trying to get your hands on the very rare green jade broadsword. The stats are awesome and its wt is lower than the Yk. I myself have seen a warrior wielding a wurmslayer with a broadsword in offhand and the look alone is cool.
RE: The followup answer:
# Aug 30 2000 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
Heya,

I am wielding this particular combination of weapons, WurmSlayer and Green Jade Broadsword.

The look is amazing, damage is great. I feel its better than the SSOY in the off hand.

Stamina bar suffers quite abit from the WurmSlayer and my hope is the GJB reduces that.

In general I request from casters in our group to give me some type of zing spell at the start of combat and halfway thru, more often if multiple mobs. It seems I hit less when I am low in the stamina bar.

Good luck acquiring both of these fine weapons, the Wurmslayer was much easier to obtain.

Now the followup question
# Aug 30 2000 at 4:19 AM Rating: Decent
Once you have one of these what should be your off hand weap for a warrior?

I am thinking a Yak, but....

RE: How many people..........
# Aug 30 2000 at 1:54 PM Rating: Default
Not no drop.. i see people auctioning for them and selling them all the time. You have to kill at least 3 wurms... Identify is a low lvl spell .. think chanters or wizzies or mages get it.. dunno i hate those classes =) useless unless ya like clarity.
RE: How many people..........
# Oct 08 2000 at 1:21 PM Rating: Default
you need a good group to get the scale gullerback is PH for the A scale and he is very very magic resistent. but a group of tanks and a healer dont have much trouble with him. Dont take him lightly he can be up to lvl 51 which means he can summon so use caution. And dont forget to bring a tracker
How to Spawn Fuzz =)
# Aug 27 2000 at 6:13 PM Rating: Default
Fuzzman is a forced spawn. Don't waste time waiting, or he wont show.

Simply Hail sir Hobble.
Fuzzy spawns and comes running shortly afterward.
Quest is fine.
# Aug 24 2000 at 12:43 PM Rating: Default
I got my Wurmslayer last night, Aug 23. Fuzzmin is not broken or rare on Terris Thule. You must force his spawn. Sir Hobble is the constant roamer in FV. Find him and hail him. He will say something about you being a talking bear and call Fuzzmin to come see. Fuzzmin spawns by the tunnel to Dreadlands and runs to Sir Hobble. He is fast. He will not stop if hailed. He will not talk if fighting. Once he reaches Sir Hobble, he will follow on his heals walking and help him in battles. If you don't act, he will despawn within a few minutes of following. Just hail Sir Hobble again and he will spawn again. You can do it two ways. I went through the dialog while running with him. It was rough, but you can keep the trade window open if you keep up with him and don't stop. Or, you can have someone root him and then zone and you can trade while he is held. Sir Hobble will not jump in if you hit him. Hope this helps.

FUZZ FIXED
# Aug 23 2000 at 12:59 PM Rating: Default
GOOD NEWS:
From a very reliable source - patch today includes the quest fix.

BAD NEWS:
Too many people previously getting Wurm too easy so Squire is now much rarer, yet still attacks mobs with his meager skills. But he may be getting a further speed increase... good for him, bad for those chasing him :(

Tell me if you are thinking of trading / selling one on Quel please, before the price goes up too much...thx. Goby
third scale details
# Aug 20 2000 at 5:24 AM Rating: Good
I did the third scale tonight. With a human necro I could walk right up to Tektite with no danger. I tried hailing him, but got no reply. I tried just giving him the carnelians (for his eyes) and he handed over the piece of tektite so you don't apparently have to talk to him to get this done.

The tektite was lore and nodrop. The guy in the temple of ro con'd indiff to me and told me about the quest when I said "I want your scale" and handed over the scale no prob when I gave him the stuff. The scale was lore, but NOT nodrop.

All this was done on The Rathe if that matters.
Wurmslayer Quest
# Aug 17 2000 at 11:06 AM Rating: Good
Hole quest explained again:
1.go to BW make group qith Ranger (most usefull for this quest) - let the ranger track for named wurm (Entalon is ph for Gylton) and Gullerback, who is the PH for Azdalin - does not mean that either Gylton or Azdalin will spawn after you kill their PH but its about 70 % that they spawn - i suggest a cleric for the group cause Gullerback seems to have a realy high resistance to magic (level 53 - 54 shammy and necro could do some poison and DOT).

1. nd part is getting the third wurm scale - lotta rumors about - but easiest way is going to OT with evil char, buy to carnelians and one peridot and give the carnelians to the Tektite named Gargoyle - you ll receive tektite Gem - gate or run (swim) to Lavastorm and run to a guy called Lord Lyfyx of Bowood (on SO Ro server this his name), hail him and hand him the tektite gem and the peridot - voila you got your 3 rd scale. Now the tricky part - head to Fio Via and find the squire - as mentioned in many postings above he is now "nerfed" - but I asked also some Guides and they told me that he is in Game - and they also mentioned they made him RARE *sigh*. DOnt know what exactly this means , anyway I am waiting for him hehe :-)

Good luck fellows hope to see ya all soon with this marv. weap

# Aug 18 2000 at 5:39 PM Rating: Default
FYI - The GMs verified that Fuzzmin was not fixed in the last patch (8/17), and are hoping to get the fix in either in the next one OR without taking down the servers - i.e. ASAP.

I tracked for Fuzzmin today for 4 hours, and he never spawned. We had several Rangers employed, and after the 4 hours, I petitioned to the GM who informed me that he was not spawing, apparently the bug still exists.

Squire Fuzzmin broken
# Aug 12 2000 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
FYI - Squire Fuzzmin (the guy who gives the quest, and who you hand the scales into) is broken as of the last patch. Verant is a aware of it, and will fix him in the next patch, hopefully on Monday.

So... if you were like many of us, waiting fruitlessly to turn in your scales, don't waste your time.

Check the EQ message board for more info if you'd like - I'll be in FV on Monday to see if he spawns :D
