This task is the sixth group mission in a series for Solteris access. It follows this 'A City in Peril' mini-task (required for progression and Combine Signet Ring upgrade).

Note: You must have completed "Solteris Access #5 - Confront Emperor Zaarisz" in order to zone into this instance.

This task begins with Vizier Zio in the portalmaster's tower in Katta Castrum at -2165, -2150, -64 (inside the circular structure directly southeast of the main city).

At the end of the previous task, you saw:

Vizier Zio says 'No! This cannot be true! How could I have been so deceived! A puppet Emperor and a second habitat full of those vile [traitors]! This cannot be borne! We must [strike]!'

    You say, 'We will strike!'

Vizier Zio says 'I know you need an artifact of power that will let you harness our powerful transportation magics and you know that my need for revenge burns stronger than ever with this news. Together we can accomplish our [goals], I think.'

    You say, 'Goals?'

Vizier Zio says 'Now that I know about this habitat everything falls into place. Several documents have come into my possession recently detailing a new type of pyramid being constructed by my people. Until today I was confused because no such pyramid exists in Zhisza. But now I know the truth and I can help you [gain access] to this pyramid if you find the new habitat.'

You have been assigned the task 'Where There's a Will'.

Vizier Zio has discovered that the shissar have created an intricate teleportation system within New Chelsith, the functionality of which is completely foreign and unknown to him. He has impressed upon you the dire necessity for learning the secrets of this teleportation system by requesting that you witness the teleporter being used by a member of the shissar.

You say, 'I want to gain access'

Vizier Zio says 'Go then _____! Soon we will all have what we most desire! Enter Silyssar by the hidden entrance you told me of and follow the tunnel until you reach the Traitor's nest.'

Discover the teleporter 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

The teleporter is located southeast of the zone-in from Zhisza. It's a very obvious object compared to the rest of the landscape.

Witness the teleporter being used 0/1 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

Success of this step is based on three things:

    1. If you get within 25 range of the shissar sorcerer, you are "seen" and you instantly fail the task and have to go get a new one, it will kick you out in 5 minutes.

    2. At the time the shissar sorcerer walks into the portal, you must be within 100' range of the mob. If you are any further away, the "a shissar boneslither" mobs won't spawn, but you also will not get a win.

    3. At the time the shissar sorcerer walks into the portal, you cannot have Line of Sight to it. If you do, THAT it what causes the KOS mob to spawn. It's about using the corners of those small slopes on the hills to win.

    Known locations to use:

    * 790, 670, -71
    * 685, 705, -67

When you get within 100 range of the teleporter, you receive the following text, and a shissar sorcerer immediately spawns and paths to directly next to the teleporter.

a shissar sorcerer mutters a nearly audible verse to the teleporter incantation.

a shissar sorcerer whispers an inaudible verse to the teleporter incantation.

a shissar sorcerer voices an audible verse to the teleporter incantation, 'Sssithar maarthasss briinthssaar'.

You quietly observe the Shissar from behind a nearby object as they begin their incantations to activate the teleporter. Do not alter the sorcerers. If you are discovered you will never learn what Vizier Zio needs you to learn! Just remember to not move too far away from the teleporter because if you can't hear the incantation you'll never learn what Vizier Zio needs you to learn.

Then when the shissar completes its pathing and walks into the teleporter, you receive the following success message in yellow text:

You were able to successfully see how the teleporter was used by watching the sorcerers use them!

Return to Vizier Zio with the Incantation 0/1 (Katta Castrum)

    You say, 'Hail, Vizier Zio'

Vizier Zio says 'You have done well to come this far, and our [objective] is near.'

Your faction standing with Combine Empire Merchants got better.

    Reward:
    - A number of Orux (depends on how popular the mission is on your server)

The group mission 'Slay the Serpent' follows this task.

I see the text that says: gain access and I say it to Vizier Zio, but I get nothing, he just stares at me as he says it. Is this supposed to happen or is there a bug?

I'd reckon somewhat more than 5 waves. Took me about an hour to get the update. Also, those "waves of 3" can be waves of 3 X 3. I had 9 mobs spawn back to back and in camp.

I believe this is another case of superstitious conditioning like that about how to spawn the Ancient Cyclops in So. Ro. It appears that you have to fight 5 waves of 3 each shissar in order to update the tasks. Everything else is a red herring.

Try it and let me know.

85 monk with merc I finally got it!!! the locs are good the adds are horrible for one person and one merc.

what I did was kept fding so of course got nowhere except that I saw the emotes but if you're fd it doesnt count as one poster said.

I finally ran back to the zone entrance and killed off the adds one by one. If my merc died I'd wait till she got rezzed. At times I could only kill one but finally killed off all the adds, went to the loc spot got the emotes and witnessed him step through the portal.

So in essence kill off all the adds about 16 in all and you'll be left in peace to hear the emotes and witness the portal thingy
    FD = Failure
    # Aug 01 2009 at 3:14 AM Rating: Decent
If you FD at any time during witnessing the teleport script then you fail to get the correct message. If you kill a few of the non-snake monsters on the west side of the teleporter, you will have space to back off when the snakes are facing you. Eventually, they will path and their backs will be to you at that time you can move closer. Don't go too close or too far at any time. If you aren't getting the emotes then you are too far away. You should get a message after the "voices" script if you are close enough(for me the message was in a different color than the emotes).

Ok here is how I did it...

Step 1 - Grab task from Vizier Zio and zone into Zhisza

Step 2 - From the zone in head North into a cave until you run into the dead end

Step 3 - On your right will be a rock that looks sort of odd.. clicking it opens a secret passageway

Step 4 - enter this area and click the door to enter your instance (silyssar)

Step 5 - (one person) Head south East from the zone in to a spot marked portal 1 on most maps ( loc 690, -660) This gets you your first task update

Step 6 - clear some of the local trash from the zone in area towards the portal. ( about 3 or 4 mobs)

Step 7 - (one person) Head to loc p790.56, n670.00 and stand there ( no need to invis, shrink, or FD since the area is clear.

Step 8 - You will see several a shissar sorcerer roaming towards the portal (not kos)

Step 9 - You will here then say....
    - a shissar sorcerer mutters a nearly audible verse to the teleporter incantation.
    - a shissar sorcerer whispers an inaudible verse to the teleporter incantation.
    - a shissar sorcerer voices an audible verse to the teleporter incantation, 'Sssithar maarthasss briinthssaar'

Step 9 - You will get caught and have to kill 3 adds or so.. pull em to your group that is near the zone in area.

Step 10 - repeat steps 7-9 until you get a task update with no adds spawning.

    Step 11
    - go back to Vizier Zio and do your hail for the win

This is a very good explanation on how to complete this quest. Everything worked as described. I made this mistake of being invis for awhile and once I removed that, it all started to work. I did get the adds and we took those out fairly quickly. We had four waves of adds total and once that was over, the quest updated as advertised!

Many thank to those who blazed the trail on this one.

This task does suck. I go in with monk and i can clearly see the teleporter and the upper part of the snakes. I am invis and i use sneak as well. Shrunk x2 as well. No levitation effects. I have tried to do it so that im behind them. I have also tried using the locations listed by various people. I can't seem to get all 3 points into position though. 2 of the coordinates i can get to within .99. Third may be off by less then 1.0 and still no update.

Very frustrating. I have also tried it so that i could not see the snake at all but part of the teleporter and still no udpate. I have had as much as 4 waves of 3 mobs try to kill me too. I don't seem to know how i did it. I tried doing it exactly the same way each time and yet no mobs come and no update. I have also tried ducking repeatedly since its suppose to be your line of sight. Nothing seems to help.

No posts mention if levitation is up or what kinda class/race did it. Big difference between an ogre and a gnome size wise. Maybe im taking line of sight too literally too. Maybe its not actual line of sight.

I have also tried it so that i can see the name of the mobs but not the heads on them while still looking at the teleport pad. I have tried to look away and even go further down a crevice/ducking etc to make sure that i don't have line of sight as the third thing stated in quest info is to not have line of sight to portal.

I have tried with sound on. Sound realism at 100%. Music Volume at 100% and Sound Volume at 100% in options just to see if there was an actual noise. Nothing. No special noises that i could hear. I normally play with all sound off so this seemed like it was worth a try. I have been trying this whole time with an iksar monk. I had a cleric and tank merc up. Im gonna remove them and see if it goes any better. You never know.

Tried it fully buffed and without any buffs at all. So far no luck. I finally completed it but really have no idea how i was able to do it. What location i was standing at. The only thing i know for sure is that i hit the back key as a snake started to move into the teleporter to put me back and that i have levitation via the level 51 shaman spell. I also used grow on the monk x2 as shrink didn't seem to help much though i suppose i did get a few waves of mobs being shrunk.

It seems to me what you have to be off agro completely to manage to get pops. I think if you have a group member who manages to avoid agro and is too close to the teleporter, you can get a second set of three popping at once.

Every post here is incorrect with the following exception, the locations and all NPC dialogue are correct.

    Quote:
I have done this mission many times. Basically, I've found that you get the update anywhere from around 5-15th time you trigger the snakes by being near the teleporter when they walk into the teleporter. Every time you trigger the snakes, or whatever you want to call it, 2 snakes will rush out of the teleporter and attack you, snare you, and auto agro on everyone in the zone regardless of where they are, or if they zone. If the mobs are up, they are agroed on everybody, however won't follow if they are too far away, say at zone in. If you train them to zone in they will attack them though. So just keep triggering the spawns until you win. You can kill them as you spawn them also. They seemed to hit around 1500 maybe. The snakes despawn after about 2 minutes usually when not directly chasing someone.

This location p790.56, n670.00, n71.48 is perfect, the other listed above gets you either killed or mission fail

As long as sorcerer's don't see you, you have to fight the waves of snakes (nerfed due to monks exploiting this mission for Orux) NO MATTER WHAT you will get waves of adds after getting audible message so be prepared. (Mobs don't hit that hard 300-1k on a 4k ac warrior)

Did this last night, found that it is possible to a) be close enough to see the chanting, b) be close enough to get the emotes about walking into the teleporter, c) stay out of line-of-sight (avoiding the adds) - and yet still not win after at least 10 such combos.

We didn't win until we allowed line of sight to take place, and killed five waves of adds.

The original post did seem correct however, in that adds will not spawn if you are not in line-of-sight of the porter when the snake uses it. You just may not win either, unless you kill at least some adds first.

My group attempted this today and found that 6 snakes now spawn each time rather than 3, making it twice as difficult to get them locked down, kited or mezzed. Not sure if this was an odd occurrence, or if it's a recent change since the patch last week. Beware...

Looks like the mission has been modified since SoF.

#1. The sorcerer's path directly from their standing point to the portal. You have about one second to stand up once they begin to move.

#2. The adds now hang around for a very long time, and they now path off in several directions so by the time you get 3 or 4 sightings there are a boat load of them roaming around.

#3. You now get 3 adds per sighting instead of two.

#4. You can no longer get sightings while adds are up.

Only way to do this now is to clear adds, so expect to get 3 per pull. I was able to take a group in and park them to the east of the teleporter out of range. Stepped up to get sighting , and as soon as adds pop down back up to the group and clear.

I did this mission several times before the SoF patch and it was easy, now when I try none of the mobs will lose aggro, even if i FD or die :( and the snakes are standing right beside teleporter now instead of taking a little run up first ?

heres a label on where to stand add this label to your silyssar.txt

    P 648.2007, -580.4334, -75.1508, 240, 0, 0, 3, MISSION_6-_FD_spot

Just before a shissar sorcer stands on portal you get a white txt message

"you quietly observe the shissar from behind a nearby object etc."

If you dont see that your in wrong spot, now after you see that message one of two things happens. both responses are in yellow text.

" you were not able to see..." this is OK and means your in right spot it also means two mobs spawned in teleporter and you need to fd before they kill you.

"you were able to successfully..." means you just won the mission

NOW important info, lets say you got the first message "you were NOT able..." two mobs spawn, if your a monk FD... great but there are 3 total sorcerers and even tho you have aggro from the 2 mobs that came down teleporter you can STAND up right before each of the other 2 sorcerer's step on pad and get the win.

you just need the hp to be able to keep standing up while 1700dmg hiting mobs are wailing on you. however doing this gives you 3 chances to win per round of sorcerer spawns. now assuming you havent won, np in a few moments 3 new sorcerer mobs are gonna spawn and you just keep trying till you win.

If your fd / invis you cant win ever... so you must stand. however lets say you go afk while fd NO problem when you come back you can just go back to trying the stand up / fd stuff.

also if your a shd / necro and dont want those mobs hitting on you, you can just wait till they despawn then start the cycle over. this only gives you one chance per round of sorcerer spawns tho.

make a campfire near the teleporter in case something goes wrong so u can get back easy, have one member who can get the mission stay at zio for easy hails to get and end mission.

EDIT: i forgot to mention imitate death is bugged as a monk, game thinks your perma invis if you use it. so dont use imitate death during mission. if you do then zone out and back in to clear the bug.

as this is my first post pls rate if you found this info usefull :)

    1. I park a gimp member of the group at Zio and leave him there for ease of getting and ending mission.
    2. Run my 75 monk in and veer right across the water and approach teleporter in a circling fashion. I like to end up on the SE side of teleporter.
    3. Adjust my range to about 70 feet while only the single original Sorcerer is standing there.
    4. Sneak.
    5. FD.
    6. You only need to stand up 1 second before a Sorcerer uses the portal. You have a chance for a win or you have a chance for the 2 adds.
    7. If you didn't win, FD and wait 2 minutes for the adds to port back away.
    8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you get the win.

General note, you want to stay FD except for the few seconds when a Sorcerer is entering the teleporter. The replacement Sorcerers spawn at random spots all around the teleporter so if you aren't FD you will likely have an unlucky pop and you will then fail. If you are always FD except for the few seconds when a Sorcerer enters the teleporter then you will probably never get unlucky and have one pop on you.

Today on Luclin this mission was paying 57 Orux and after doing this mission 3 times it dropped to 56 Orux. Easy money!
