This solo task begins with Noble Sivrn, who is found in the central spire obelisk. You must be at least level 70 to request it.

You say, 'Hail, Noble Sivrn'

Noble Sivrn bows, 'Welcome to the Jewel of Atiiki, home of the eternally wise and venerable [sphinx], guardians of all knowledge, both secret and exoteric.'

You say, 'Sphinx?'

Noble Sivrn says 'I realize that you are anxious to speak with the sphinx. However, before speaking with them, it is important that you learn how to address them properly. For those [willing] to learn the names, the reward is great.'

You say, 'I am willing'

You have been assigned the task 'Names of the Sphinx'.

Noble Sivrn smiles, 'Seek out the sphinx, study them carefully, and return to me when you have learned the name of each one.'

This task consists of hailing each of the 13 sphinx in Atiiki (plus optional hidden sphinx).

Locate Akarahotuten in the Great Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Akarahotuten does not seem to hear you.

Locate Xanxionusus in the Great Pyramid Crypt 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Xanxionusus seems to stare right through you.

Locate Tekelfotonan in the Great Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Tekelfotonan whispers quietly to itself.

Locate Mahatototarit in the Rock Garden 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Mahatototarit is focused intently on a game.

Locate Shelfezmaken in the Sunken Garden 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Shelfezmaken seems focused on something standing behind you.

Locate Vizhizshazid in the Tertiary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Vizhizshazid sighs softly.

Locate Rohtrepoten in the Tertiary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Rohtrepoten does not acknowledge your presence.

Locate Yinihortinkah in the Quaternary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Yinihortinkah seems to be sleeping.

Locate Dezthazkekol in the Quaternary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Dezthazkekol blinks in confusion.

Locate Kikinkoutepmozha in the Quinary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Kikinkoutepmozha does not respond to your hail.

Locate Queltizenzumotif in the Quinary Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Queltizenzumotif glances towards the ground.

Locate Osinzuhazhfet in the Sunken Pyramid 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

Osinzuhazhfet appears unaware of your presence.

(Opt) Seek out the hidden Sphinx 0/1 (Jewel of Atiiki)

You say, 'Hail, Noble Sivrn'

Noble Sivrn says 'Well done! Most mortals would not have been able to discern the names of the sphinx so easily. Unfortunately your [pronunciation] is terrible. I hope that your slurred speech is not the result of an injury inflicted by one of my brethren.'

Isilisinisusurpa - The Hidden Sphinx.
# May 03 2015 at 10:12 PM Rating: Decent
The above information for Isilisinisusurpa is correct to start.

You say, 'Hail, Noble Sivrn'
Noble Sivrn smiles, 'It is a pleasure to see you once again, _____.'
You say, 'Where is Isilisinisusurpa?'
Noble Sivrn says 'What you seek is beyond my ability to find. Is it not known that Rohtrepoten imparts all knowledge to those who are to be confused?'
You say, 'Hail, Rohtrepoten'
Rohtrepoten says 'Greetings, _____.'
You say, 'Where is Isilisinisusurpa ?'
Rohtrepoten says 'Foolish words fall upon my ears, backwards and forwards through the years, spoken one way is ever contrite, and the other while correct, not quite.'
You say, '?aprususinisilisI si erehW'
Rohtrepoten says 'You have everything backwards, which is the first step, betwixt twin spires forgotten games Isilisinisusurpa's kep. Playing for ages forgotten in dust, watching forever as all falls to rust. You will not see the hidden without seeing them first.'
In the vicinity of 1125, 700 is what appears to be an abandoned game board (which conveniently lies betwixt twin spires). Walking over the stone "squares" causes the appearance of some to change slightly... This is where Isilisinisusurpa is believed to be. (More information needed.)

from here - if you stand in the middle square (the loc above 1125, 700) of the row of squares between the two pillars facing north and say 'Where is Isilisinsusurpa?' the sphinx will appear not to far away north of you.

You say, 'Hail, Isilisinisusurpa'
You have been assigned the task 'The Hidden Sphinx'.
Isilisinisusurpa says 'I am a carefully constructed facade. Irresistable and impenetrable. All but invisible. You see me through the disturbance I create. That which i displace shows my form, but nothing more.'

you are assigned a task named The Hidden Sphinx, and it is one step - pronounce the name of Isilisinisusurpa correctly (8 syllables) and the help text at the bottom says to say it to Noble Svirn. i unfortunately didn't get a screenshot. said 'I`sil`is`in`is`u`sur`pa' to Noble svirn and it completed with an exp message and noble svirn emoting "Noble Svirn nods in approval."

i do not know if it matters any - but i put up see invis as well prior to going to the game board as rohtrepoten said you will not see the hidden without seeing them first - just took that to be need see invis.

I use a mage and Eye of Zomm.

Before you cast the eye, get all your group members to make an assist key.
- Line 1 /assist (name of person casting the eye)
- Line 2 /assist off (this will prevent your invis from dropping)
- Line 3 /pause 2 (this is to give your assist and assist off time to kick in)
- Line 4 /hail

The interior of all pyramids is similar.
- Zone into each pyramid and stay there.
- Cast the eye.
- Move eye forward.
- The first intersection is a T, go RIGHT to the end of the hall.
- Go to the end of this hallway and go RIGHT.
- Go to the end of this hallway and go RIGHT yet again.
- A short way up, there is a doorway accented w/ blocks around the arch. Go through the archway and you are at the base of a ramp.
- Follow the this path (up ramps, there are a few rooms along the way, keep going forward, up more ramps, blah blah). Eventually you get to the final room and the sphinxes are to the left and right of you.

NOTE: Most pyramids have 2 sphinxes in them. The exception is the pyramid in the "7 o'clock" position on the map, in which there are 3.
- Use the path above to find the first 2 sphinxes.
- To get to the last one, stand at pyramid ZI.
- Cast the eye.
- At the first intersection (the T) go LEFT.
- Follow this path through a couple of short hallways and down a ramp.
- At the base of the ramp, turn LEFT.
- There's a room, go in and to the back and THERE is the third sphinx in this pyramid.

TWO of the sphinxes are out in the open.
- One next to the puzzle boards.
- Other in the middle of the zone. If you set up the assist key as I outlined above, your invis will NOT drop, which is helpful here because the mobs in this area will attack if they see you.

Last sphinx is located in the pyramid in the "4 o'clock" position on the map.
- KEEP INVIS ON
- When you zone in, you are surrounded by golems. They will attack and follow you if you zone, so KEEP INVIS ON
- Once you zone in, do a 180 and move to the back of the room.
- Target, hail, zone out, and head back to the Noble.

Task complete

AA's: If you are running at 100% aa's for this...
- Between levels 70 and 75, you will about 3.5 aa's.
- Between 76 and 80, you will get about 2.5.
- 81 and above, you will get a little over 1 aa.

Good Luck and Congrats in advance on your aa's!

This is not working. I'm in the 7 o'clock pyramid and even tho I have the sphinx targetted I cannot hail him. Says too far away. The location is dead on tho, thank you!

Tried tonight since I was new to come back and Eye of Tallon got me to the sphynx in pyramid but also said I was too far away. Tried to run it and the traps on the map were correctly marked but it didn't matter which way the bugs were facing they turned and attacked with quickness. Not a problem except the Djinn saw me and that's when I noticed my pet had stepped out to grab a cup of coffee or something and was nowhere to be seen, although he kindly informed me he was attacking the mob.

TASK #1 -- NAMES OF THE SPHINX

1) JEWEL OF ATIIKI: You are looking for Noble Sivrn (Level 75).

This zone is a big circle.

In the middle (a bit off-center) is a large, deep, tiered pit (aka Sunken Garden).

Sivrn is located in a tower on the southeast side (top) of this pit.

Hail him and follow along, or just try saying, "I am willing" to get the task called, "Names of the Sphinx."

This entire task takes place in this zone.

.

2) This task isn't that hard, but it is tricky.

A few things to remember:

· The NPC's can be hailed from anywhere in the zone, as long as you can get them on target!

· Thus, a few Stalking Probes (for the Eye of Zomm effect) can be handy!

· Hardly anything sees through invisible here, except undead and maybe some of the bugs in the Pyramids. So, a generous supply of Cloudy Potions is a must!

· The Pyramids have bug traps that are nearly impossible to avoid. The bugs will pop and attack you. However, if you keep running, you can out run them and they will despawn in under 45 seconds. The danger here is they kill you (you hesitate) or other MOB's nearby spot you after your Invis drops (train).

· The easiest way to do this is with a high-end competent FD player. They can flop about to grab targets, or can run and set off the traps and/or train MOB's away from where you need to go.

· If you are ubah enough and confident in your running/turning skills you can also run, hail and keep running to outrun aggro.

· I did a combination of the last two options, above.

· NOTE: The "Tertiary," "Quarternary" and "Quinary" pyramids are all side-by-side in the north part of the zone.

· NOTE: Entering the Pyramids is accomplished by stepping on the portal pads on the top of each one.

· NOTE: These tasks must be done in order, as one leads to the other.

Anyway, the task requires you hail twelve (12) Level 80 NPC's, with a thirteenth (13th) NPC option. I never saw the last one.

The hails you need are:

* In the "Great Pyramid" (Southwest), locate and hail...
o Xanxionusus (down one level)
o Akarahotuten (in the top room)
o Tekelfotonan (in the top room)
* Locate and hail Mahatototarit in the "Rock Garden" (just north of the "Great Pyramid")
* Locate and hail Shelfezmaken in the "Sunken Garden" (center area, you can target from up top and hail)
* In the "Tertiary Pyramid," locate and hail...
o Vizhizshazid (in the top room)
o Rohtrepoten (in the top room)
* In the "Quarternary Pyramid," locate and hail...
o Yinihortinkah (in the top room)
o Dezthazkekol (in the top room)
* In the "Quinary Pyramid," locate and hail...
o Kikinkoutepmozha (in the top room)
o Queltizenzumotif (in the top room)
* Locate and hail Osinzuhazhfet in the Sunken Pyramid (in the Southeast, go up the hill to find the Pyramid in the water, he is right there as you pop inside)
* OPTIONAL: Locate and hail the "Hidden Sphinx" -- who I suspect is Isilisinisusurpa (no idea where he is, anyone advise?)

.

3) Head back to Sivrn.

Hail him to complete the task and get about 1 AA in XP!

as zaztik mentions below, it really is not difficult to get to the top of each pyramid, provided you can become invisible quickly.

levitate and stick to the walls.

keep moving when you move. i have had the bug traps spring and they never see me nor do i become visible- because i have gotten far enough away or because the bugs always face north and are not looking my way. keep this in mind in your movements.

time your movement. wherever possible, do not move when in sight of an efreeti.

when a trap springs, invis right away if the bugs see you. if this does not work, run a bit then invis. the bugs will despawn either way within 2 seconds or so.

shy of that, the eye of tallon/zomm/stalking probe method is very easy.

Wow, that was easy with a pet.

I've only been in the zone to do this quest
The directions posted by others below are a little vague until you've been thru them.

you come into the zone into the s/e corner. Invis up for all this.

1. The underwater cave is close to the zone in.
2. There are 3 pyramids to the north spread left to right called West, middle and East in the notes here.
3. To the SW is the southern pyramid
4. In the middle of the zone is lake with the named on east shore.

Do your Hails by using the pet notes below set up hot keys to do a /pet attack <name>
1. Target your pet
2. Do hot key, /pet attack ...
you will see the mob's name in your target window
as well as text from your pet with the mobs name.
3. Do /pet back
4. Do hail (Mob is targeted by you because you are assisting your pet.
5. erase the hot key - optional

a. Run to the underwater pyramid by takeing the 1st right, then 1st left

hail Osinzuhazhfet (pet attack)

b. Run back the other way, to the southern pyramid, run to the top. Don't zone in.

hail Akarahotuten (pet attack0
hail Tekelfotonan (pet attack)

Zone in and hail Xanxionusus (pet attack). You don't have to go anywhere when you zone in. There is a wandering mob in some of of the pyramids, he does not come in your room but you might want to move into a corner but I don't think it's needed.

c. From the top find Mahatototarit to the NW, target and hail. Prolly don't need pet.

d. Run over to west side of the lake up on the cliff, target Shelfezmaken and hail. No pet needed.

e. Run to the West pyramid, go to the top. I Can't rememebr if you need to zone in

hail Vizhizshazid (pet)
hail Rohtrepoten (pet)

f. Go to middle pyramid and run to the top, repeat for

Yinihortinkah (pet)
Dezthazkekol (pet)

g. Go to the the east pyramid, run up to the top and repeat for

Kikinkoutepmozha (pet)
Queltizenzumotif (pet)

h. Now go hail Noble Sivrn

I also got two AA's from this quest. I'm not sure if it just gives you two, or the xp equivalent to two.

--morrgue 79 Necro

edit: oops, I said the south pyramid was to the SE. It's really SW, sorry.

eye of zomm or similar works great for this.

as a ranger i used a combo of innate camo and sneak, as sometimes my stalking probes wouldnt last long enough to get to the top.

the beetles spawn facing north, so just walk around the pyramid halls with your back to the southern wall, invised and sneaking. they will pop right in front of you and not aggro if their back is to you, which always is if you position yourself correctly. if this is not possible (i.e. going north down a hall) then just stay on the left or right of the wall, moving north, and go very slowly forward. if beetles pop just stop until they despawn. do this all the way to the top and you are golden. for getting back down i just ran down fast to the pad.

look around corners with your 3rd person camera as well, sometimes the beetles will pop around corners and you wont see em till its too late. also don't trust your maps, the traps spawn all over the pyramids.

The hidden sphinx is driving me crazy. I have searched and searched with no luck. The location posted below(-655 -1255 -1) for him does not exist so that is out. Closest I got was in the tunnels near entrance but that was at wrong heigth and couldn't get to exact location. Above that is the plateau where you can get to that location but it is not there and that is way above the hiegth. It is near the lake so I tried to find an underwater tunnel or something but there is nothing. He doesn't show on Track and I have gone over most all of the zone hitting target nearest npc over and over with no result. Only thing left to try is my Necro and pet attack but I don't really want to drag him all the way there until he's 70 and can do the task. Has anyone using pet attack found this one? Has anyone at all found this one?

I have this mob marked on my map (From Mapfiend) But the location is all Positives not Negatives. So +655.0000, +1245.0000, +1.0000 ... maybe? This is where I'll be trying my luck.

I'm hoping the mob will spawn at a certain hour (game time). I've tried clicking rocks, and other things in the area. No luck yet. There must be a trick. We just have to figure it out.

Are you taking that value (-655.0000, -1245.0000, -1.0000) from the map file? If so, remember that the first two numbers get reversed there. Which would put this lock in the bottom of the obelisk above the zone in area.

The map locs are reversed in order and polarity. I.e for the locations mentioned above, -1234, -678 would be at the point 687, 1234 if you do /loc in-game.

In short, when in Atiki and type /loc. If you are at 1245, 655 then you are at the spot that the Hidden Sphinx (Isilisinusurpa) is meant to be at.

Whether he is a triggered spawn, invisible or something else, I don't know. However see invis and Skylight Sagacity where both unable to spot him at this location.
Pet targeting
# Jun 26 2007 at 10:37 PM Rating: Decent
This quest was super easy thanks to nytmare's info:

If you are a pet class this quest takes 10-15 min tops.

1.) All you have to do is zone into one of the pyramid's and set a macro with /pet attack "name of the sphinx you are looking for"

2.) Use macro to have your pet target the shpinx ,but before he is allowed to run in to attack use /pet backoff.

3.) Once your assist your pet you just hail whatever sphinx you have on your target and blamo !

I personally did not think i would be able to do this quest as a Druid even with the help of stalking probes from the bazaar. With Nytmare's post it was done in a matter of min's !

This way is easy. Go into each pyramid and just stand at the entrance. For each sphinx in that pyramid use /pet attack sphinxname (you can abbreviate the name), then immediately hit /pet back off (not /pet hold). Mob will stay on pet's target, assist your pet and Hail for task update. If you don't have a pet, you could go with someone who does and assist them.

Using eye of Tallon
# Jun 24 2007 at 4:00 AM Rating: Decent
I did this quest with a little help from a friend, and mostly with my eye of Tallon. Eye of tallon is a spell/buff, so extension foci work on it! As a great hint....all the pyramids have the same basic floor plan, so once you have explored one of them well enough, just remember the path you took, so you can repeat it in the other pyramids. Voila! I was able to quickly find them all from the safety of the first rooms into which you teleport from the pyramid tops.

When I told Noble Sivrn "I am willing" after I completed this he just nods curtly and does not respond. So it looks like you can't repeat this task.

It gave me 86% of an AA at 100% & level 75.
Traps
# Apr 02 2007 at 7:07 PM Rating: Default
It seems that some of the traps are random while others are more predictable. Some of them need you to keep running so you aren't facing them while you are sneaking. And others seem to appear at random locations even though some, like the ones at the entrance are more predictable so I am giving up hope in mapping them. I see groups at them now since I think the tokens can only drop inside of pyramids so it might be best to get a group for this.

Btw, has anyone been able to find the optional hidden sphinx? I am wondering if you get anything extra from doing this.

Three words Virolon, eye of tallon.... did this solo in about 15mins, no agro, no traps, no problem. You can hail from anywhere in the zone so all you need to do is zone into each temple and cast.

Yeah right you did it with a eye of zomm! I tried using one and it only lasts for so long and it just wasn't enough time to get to the spinx. I guess I will just have to write this one quest off as never happening in my lifetime while all I see are players who are going after the armor pieces /shrugs. I then tired using a kobold rogue shroud. The FD is useless since you will die with one or 2 hits but used it anyway and tried mapping the locations of the traps but that's not possible either since a trap can sneak up on you even if you move slow. I just can't understand how anyone can do this quest period.

cyril, the above poster stated it was done with eye of tallon, not eye of zomm. eye of tallon has a duration twice that of zomm. its base duration is 1 minute. getting to the sphinxes is easy, with time to spare, and getting lost on the way. with eye of tallon. you can hail them both, and then go back down if you like. plenty of time.

as for eye of zomm, just because you could not do it, does not mean it is impossible.

just to test it, i used eye of zomm instead of tallon. in the great pyramid, i made it to the sphinxes before it wore off, with about 1 second to spare.

so.. it was tight, but it is doable with eye of zomm. you have to travel the path perfectly. and given that the other pyramids follow the same floor plan, it is doable in all pyramids.

Stalking probe works, had to kill one mob in the great temple to be in the right position to use it, but as long as you don't waste any time, you can get up top and hail.

Eye of zomm lasts long enough.. barely. I used my singing steel helm to send the eye up and target the two sphinxes.

It took me several tries because I had to learn the route well enough to zoom all the way up without stopping.

The traps spawn 4 see SoS mobs (SoS is an innate rogue ability that makes our hide and sneak work on see invis, not a special type of sneak hotkey FYI), they all face the same direction. To avoid false information from being spread around, if you are in rogue shroud form don't just stand still and let the mobs kill you, they are see invis. When you are sneaking, however, you are still invisible to mob's with see invis AS LONG AS YOU ARE BEHIND THEM. That is why the trap mobs conned indifferent, and that is why they are not agroing most of the time when you stand still, is because u are behind them. I just spawned a trap and they are all facing north, I will spawn more traps to see if they always face north.

A tip on how to do this mission for more than one person. Have a rogue, FDer run up and target the sphinx, have everyone who is doing the flag go to the temple the rogue is at and wait at ZI, rogue runs down one ramp and stands there while everyone /assist the rogue and hails the Sphinx, run back up target next sphinx, and do the same for it. You can hail a sphinx from anywhere int he zone and get the update.

Also, I have never seen them spawn on the ramps or between them, however they can spawn in most flat areas in the temples

As I thought. So far every single trap that I have spawned always faces north. This should make this quest a lot easier and w/ fewer deaths. Simply stay on the south side of the wall, if u are going south down a hall, then be careful, or just walk slowly and try and spawn a trap. If you are a rogue and sneaking around, you can sneak behind the mobs w/o getting agro. However, I since most of u are not rogues, you should rather just stay south of mobs and wait for them to despawn.

Ok, final post on this subject. After running my rogue through the temples a 2nd time using my method to do the quest for 3 of my other boxes, I have come to a few assumptions. Going clockwise, starting with the temple accessed via underground zone in tunnel, each temple has a higher chance at randomly spawning the traps. The zone in temple did not spawn any traps for me running through the temple 4 times (missed hail and tried doing w/o getting quest first, oops), the SE temple only spawned 1 trap running through it 3 times, and the last, NE or 1:30 position temple had a crap ton of traps spawn on me, killing me once as I was running south up a ramp and got agro, escaped, tried again and got a spawnin same place. I believe that every step you take does a "trap spawn check/roll", or randomly determines if u spawn a trap or not w/ the step, I say this because I had a trap spawn infront of me, took another step and a 2nd trap spawned directly next to the first trap, and then a 3rd step to spawn yet another trap, having all 3 traps up at the same time right next to each other.

the traps in the temples move.. but if you stand still, when the traps go off, the bugs wont attack, as long as you arent moving. this quest was easy as a kobold rogue shroud, FD helped but wasnt needed. I would takes a few steps and wait to see if a trap went off, then a few more, etc

on a side note i tried to run past the insects after one of the traps had gone off, and it ended up attacking, even though the con was indifferent.
