Gandari is located at +1465,+2415 in a cabin, east from the Rivervale entrance.

You say, 'Hail, Gandari'

Gandari says 'Most call me Gandari the Terse. You here for [ivy armor]?'

You say, 'What ivy armor?'

Gandari says 'I reward brave rangers with ivy etched armor - [helm]s, [tunic]s, [sleeves] and [bracers]. [Interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested in a bracer.'

Gandari says 'I do not haggle; I do not bargain. The bottom of the Rune of Ivy from the plains of Everfrost, a watery ring from the Cauldron of Tears and a fire emerald to warm my heart. Bring these to me and you shall earn your reward.'

The bottom Rune of Ivy comes from a named orc, Redwind, in Everfrost Peaks. The Water Ring is from an aqua goblin tidal lord in Dagnor's Cauldron. Upon handing in all three items:

Gandari says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'

I just finished this quest, and I found it to be pretty easy. To qualify tho, I had the assistance of a 45th Druid and a 48 Bard (29th lvl myself), so between TPing and Speedsong we were able to complete this in roughly an hour. We just started in Dagnors (ring dropped on the 2nd Tidal Lord we killed), TPed to NK, killed Redwind, and Tped to WC to get to Kith. I wouldn't run this quest without a TPer at my level, but you could do this very quickly with even just one 30ish druid and maybe another char if you are smart when you take on Redwind (see the bestiary post, he's not friendly).

Thought I'd chime in. Flame away :P
This Quest is Easy
# Apr 09 2001 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
Just did this quest 4 times over the weekend, twice each for me and another ranger friend. We went to Dagnor's first, and got the 2 Water Rings after killing 3 Tidal Lords. We did it with a 30 Shaman and a 25 Ranger, no problem. I easily solo'd the Tidal Lords. They spawn and wander near the goblin camp along the side of the cauldron.

We got TP's to North Karana, ran to EF, and there was a server outage on Friday, but we did it ok. The Ranger harmonied the icy orcs, we pulled Redwind, the Ranger took the HT hit, I healed him, DOT'd the pet (which died from the DOT alone), and then we took down Redwind. He hits hard, and if he gets to casting he can be tough, but he's not too bad. Killed him about 8 times to get 4 total runes. These items are both lore (ring and rune), so we actually did the quest once each, and then started all over again to do it again.

Fire emerald can be had for 96pp easily. I made a Wood Elf Druid and we gave her the money to buy them. She got them for 96pp. The merchant quoted the Ranger 200pp for them.

All told, a fairly easy quest. We both died several times due to our own carelessness and server lag. Icy orcs are awesome experience. I'm in a hell level at 30 and I got almost a full bubble from camping Redwind and killing the icy orcs on the platform for an hour.
This may sound stupid

Im just Checkin. Do I need 1 ring ,1 fire emerald and 1 rune to get 1 bracer ? so do I need to double everything for the pair ?.
RE: This may sound stupid
# Apr 06 2001 at 5:21 PM Rating: Default
Need to do it twice if you want 2nd bracer.
Redwind is easy, if you do it right

I defeated Redwind with a group consisting of a 23 human shadow knight (with pet), a 15 high elf cleric, and myself (a 25 half elf ranger). You set up south of the temple and have the ranger pull. Harmony to two orcs closest to you then flame lick Redwind. He WILL harmtouch you, so have your resistances buffed against it. When you get him back to the group, let the shadow knight tank and you step back to unleash the fury of arrows and ignite. By the way, he does have a pet, so you may want to have the first couple of spells be invoke lightning, to finish off the pet fast. The cleric just needs to sit back and heal. By the end of the fight, my ranger had lost about 2 bubbles of health and the shadow knight lost at most 3 (I couldn't tell for sure because the cleric was healing him very well).

The key to taking him is to have the puller take the harm touch, not the tank.

This is kinda off topic, but I've just gotta respond. NEVER use a ranger as a caster, especially when he's high level in the group. In the situation above, the ranger has more hp, higher combat skills, duel wield, etc. If he'd closed in, Redwind would have gone down twice as fast. Also, never go after the pet until the main MOB is down. Just my 2 cents.

# May 14 2001 at 6:18 AM Rating: Default
I will respond to this too.
I, as Ranger, am using my DD usually in between two hits of my 2Handed sword, when I use it.
This is the most efficient way for me to deal damage. Way better than dual wielding + DD.
And I do outdamage warriors of my level easily when doing this.
And you HAVE to take care of the pet, even if it's a SK one. The best way is to root it, then step back to take care of its master. Usually, the pet as a lower magic resistance than the master and the root will stick nearly full time (that should be 45 secs to 1 minute).
I never had problem dealing with SKs and Necros of my level when doing this tactic and I am not the most efficient class to kill them (Pallys should be).
Redwind
# Feb 11 2001 at 2:07 PM Rating: Decent
I am a 22 ranger and i grouped with by bro a 24 rgr we easily defeated the tidal lords. But watch out for redwind we teamed up with a 30 ranger on this part, red hits you with a 300+ spell first off so just be careful and have heals ready. Both were easy though for us.
who to?

so let me get this straight you give the stuff to gandari and not to leaf like the other ivy etched?
RE: who to?

Right. Just to make sure you should always do a Hail and walk though the dialogue. She will ask you specifically about if you are interested about bracers.
Kithicore death
# Nov 10 2000 at 10:44 AM Rating: Default
OK, this is getting ridiculous... When you have all three parts (rune, water ring and fire emerald), you have to give them to Gandari (at ranger outpost in Kithicore - #7 on the map at eqatlas, I think) in Kithicore Forest. I have entered Kithicore the past two DAYS (3PM and 11AM) and have died both times at the hands of a Lieutenant skele (G'Vay, I think) and his massive group (over 6 MOB's). I have not entered even close to nightfall or daybreak, had SOW on both times, and camo (no invisi versus undead tho). It seems like these skeles are out 24/7 and not just at nite, but they are not listed on any bestiary list that I have found.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get to the ranger outpost without dying (lost level 26 last nite!!!), please please please email me at feanorr@royalguardians.com. I check it often...

Your a ranger, put your track on distance and keep checking it. A smart ranger can get through any zone without a single attack if they just keep their eyes open and their track up. The best way to get to the ranger camp though is to run the north zone wall until you can track Gandari, then wait until she's about perfectly south of you. There shouldn't be anything more then a bixie in your way then.

Yeah dude, heres what ya do; Zone into Kith any time day or night. If you are coming from WC then run over to the right wall. If from HHP then go to the left wall. Run along the zone wall tracking the whole way when u can track whats his name wood chopper then do that run untill he is to your side...check to make sure it's all clear (use glimpse) and run for the huts like a mad man. do the little quest thingy then get the hell outa there b4 a skele commando finishes u off. Dunno what other will say about this way to do it but it works great for me.

You guys have got to be kidding me!! I have been running Kithi since about 10th and had no problems (except of course at night, which is at your own risk!). Just stay on the south wall (Rivervale side) and track Morin Shadowbane about the middle of the route. The DE MoB's (Lt and the rest are on the other side of the path through the middle towards the center) shouldn't bother you as long as you stay on that side of the zone.

With the new tracking tools, you should be able to /tracksort distance and make sure you aren't getting too close to the servants of Innoruuk. if you see any of them closer than some of the random critters in the zone, find the closest wall and FAST! Unless you are specifically hunting them down, you DON'T want to meet them. Trust me.

After all these words of concern and advice, though, if you go wandering around through the zone like a blind man, you are fair game for whatever nails you. You have been warned.
RE: Kithicore death
# May 02 2001 at 8:05 AM Rating: Default
Those Kithicore Innoruuk's fools are insanely dangerous if you are not of the appropriate level.
I (Ranger) was 22 when I got my first lesson from them.
I thought that, with some level40+ druid's SOW and skin like diamond (I was 805 HP or something), I would escape anything. How wrong I was.
While I was planing to harmonize a group of Ghouls to pull one, a mean mofoe of the Innoruuk's childs arrived without a warning, just the usual sentance about not being in the right place while DTing me. Insta-death. Can you believe this? His Death-touch was OVER 805 !!
I carefully looked at my health bar (which was still full, as it had not the time to be refreshed while "login, please wait") and my log. I got no normal hit from him nor his pet, just the DT.
Gosh I was so disgusted.
Just after that, after I got my corpse back (was not easy), as a revenge, I grouped with a warrior and killed Kizdean Gix 3 times in a row.
That's how it will now work : Each time a high level mob hopelessly kills me, I will slaughter a lesser of his kinds 3 or 4 times. :)
And yes, I already killed Broon (the baby cyclop) and some griffawns a dozen of times for all the splattering their big bros enjoyed with me.
Yeah, I put Cyclops in the Giants species. :)
And D'Vinn is the next on my special-wish-to-kill-list. I will wait a bit for him, though, as he is very underconned for mêlées.

some of the nasty undead doesn't always despawn at morning. i found out the hard way on a corpse run from arena; incidently i died because a normal skelly jumped me and i hit auto attack while targetting a ranger (tricky little bastards they are). it was a few hours after everything else despawned and didnt show up on tracking. i was piqued. just be cautios when in kith

I don't know why everyone is having such problems in Kith. I have always trained at the ranger camp in Kith and never had a problem during the day. I just don't want people to be turned off of Kith forest because it's really not that terrible most of the time.

I agree.....I have made many a trip thru Kithicor during the day and even a few times at night..... I am tracking my tail off, sneaking and hiding and using every ranger trick in the book..... it can be done.... just be careful!!

I've never dies in Kith, And I've been running through it at night since 10. long before the Tracksort option was installed. if you need to travel kith just run the north wall. day or night doesn't matter, you don't need camo or SoW, normal speed and the north wall will get anyone, Ranger or otherwise through Kith 24 hours a day.

Well I believe it has alot to do with the Rogue epic quest, for which the mobs apparently don't despawn until the rogue gets past a dark elf reaver who backstabs pretty heavily

I just finished getting the second of my two bracer and actually I found this to be a rewarding quest. Travel is a bit much, but otherwise it was easily doable in the mid 20's with a little help.

On Morrell Thule I had no problem with undead of Kithicore after 7 am. I would sit on the edge of the zone using Track and just watch them pop off as they vaporized out of existance.

i thought it was different ranger in camp made it to camp head ranger took my stuff and gave me nothing then i got jumped by dread wolves. rangers watched me die. so ill never do this quest again . and also bracer is only worth 120pp not really worth the quest any way this zone sucks

Funny....I've been training in Kith since I was lvl 6 and I always run the path Invised during the day. I have never had any trouble doing this. Get someone to give you Sow in RV, then run like a Mad man. I've never been caught yet. (knock on wood).

Redwind is usually camped, however he drops that rune ALL the time. Think he is on a 6 minute timer. Anyway, get thee to Everfrost and yell if anyone is camping Redwind.

Harmony is a key for this guy. He is a SK and his first attack is a HT. PLUS the 4 idiots around him aggro like nobody's business.

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

Yes, indeed, it is possible to wear two Ivy Etched Bracers.
That's why it is the only Ivy Etched piece of armor that is not LORE ITEM

Redwind

Don't know the exact /loc but if you cross the ice river, there is a pantheon on the far bank, with giant statue sticking out of the snow, hard to miss, Redwind is in the center of the open building, surrounded by 4 icy orcs. I just harmonied them all, pulled redwind, and the ranger I was with, a warrior, and a rogue, all 18-22 range, easily defeated him.

The rune is common (lore/no drop) and so is redwind..the place is almost always camped, so run out there and ask to loot it
