(/loc of Gandari?)

You say, 'Hail, Gandari'

Gandari says 'Most call me Gandari the Terse. You here for [ivy armor]?'

You say, 'What ivy armor?'

Gandari says 'I reward brave rangers with ivy etched armor - [helm]s, [tunic]s, [sleeves] and [bracers]. [Interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested in sleeves.'

Gandari says 'I do not haggle; I do not bargain. A heart of fire from the caverns of Solusek, the left side of the Rune of Ivy from the griffon Grimfeather and two star rubies of sparkling hue. Bring these to me and you shall earn your reward.'

Upon giving Gandari the Heart of Fire, the Rune of Ivy [left], and two Star Rubies:

Gandari says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'
Gandari says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'
Gandari says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'
Gandari says 'Well done. May Karana bless your soul.'

Yesterday I was running fro the Spires into EK and passed Grimmy's corpse. I looked in and found the Ivy Rune and another No-Drop item, a Griffins Eye.

Does anyone know what this item is for?

Thanks in advance for any info you have.

Rygor would be a nice choice. Since the bazaar opened they have gone down to anywhere between 75pp to 150pp.
Rune of Ivy of Left rune of Ivy

Guys please help me. I killed the mob named " Grimfeather" and he dropped the rune. But the rune's name is "Rune of Ivy"
That isnt the same rune as the "Left rune of Ivy" is it?

Where do I get this " Left rune of Ivy"? I gave Gandir my "Rune of Ivy" but she said she doesnt need it. Pls help me where to get that rune
RE: Rune of Ivy of Left rune of Ivy
# May 07 2002 at 6:33 AM Rating: Decent
To my knowledge the "Rune of Ivy" that is dropped by Grimfeather is the correct rune. I have never seen one that specifically said "Left rune of Ivy".

If you have a friend cast identify on the rune from GrimFeather, it should identify as the "left rune of ivy."

There is one point that should be abundantly clear here. Do not give the items to her until she
recognizes you by asking you if you are interested in Ivy Armor. I hailed her to get the quest,
I then came back with the items and hailed her, and she ignored me as I was indifferent. I went to HPH
and killed 3 bandits and 1 orc and came back in 15 minutes, and hailed her again. He then
gave me the question. I gave her the items and she played with me by indicating that she
did not know what to do with these, then said no wait, here is your Ivy sleeves. You should
enter into the zone no earlier than 8am and no later the 5pm. You do not want to be here come 8pm.
This is WC time, not RV or HPH time. I don't know if it makes a difference in the order that you give her
the items, but I did it in Heart of fire, Rune, Star ruby, Star ruby, and of course all at once. To avoid
confusion with multiple runes, I stored the rune in the same bag as the items that were
to be turned in together. This way I never had to identify the runes later or take the
chance that I get them mixed up. Good luck all. Questions Regnart_eq@yahoo.com

There are 2 people involved in giving the Ivy Etched Armor quests. One is Gandari, in the building closest to the zone wall at the ranger camp, the other is Leaf Falldim...as for where they are, you're a ranger...use your tracking skill. And be CERTAIN to give the items to the correct NPC. I lost all the items for the boots by following the information given at a site whose name I won't mention, including a bar of Ronium, and STILL haven't re-done that quest. When you hail the npc's, if they don't mention the item you're questing, for pity's sake, find the other one. It will save you a LOT of grief.

nothin easy
# Nov 28 2001 at 3:14 AM Rating: Default
there is nothin easy about this quest. grimfeather is hard to find at times but atleast he always drops the rune. the heart of fire is another story. in my youth i camped here many times to no avail finding a heart then one day i got one when a 55 monk was hangin out in there. now since i have been back camping various things for guildies they have popped many times. they do only drop off inferno goblin wizards. every one says the bar room but the wizards spawn anywhere inferno goblins spawn. i got my first heart by the captain second by the reckless efreeti and my 3rd from the bar room. as for the rubies if these are for yourself buy them in Firiona Vie, thats the place i got best prices from. if you are doin this to sell, hence 3rd time doing it, find a hi level enchanter to buy them for you. these were definatly worth getting till you can afford or camp some rygor or other gear

They hearts of fire are not only found on inferno goblin wizards. Today i was in Sol a and a nice 51 level troll killed a inferno goblin (not the wizard type) and low and behold bingo got one. Maybe they drop off wizard more often but i know i would rather take a plain goblin than a wizard. Later

One tactic for killing Grimfeather, which can be a lil risky... well ok, a lot risky, is to snare him (risky part - but have SoC up and you ca nstill outrun him) and then run him up to the guards on the hill, they aggro onto him while you sit and watch, he will kill both guards and then reaggro onto you, but with such low health that a root and stacked dots will kill him nps.
Did this with a 39 druid.
Tried it a second time, and boy do I wish I had SoC up =)
*you begin casting ensnare*
Your target resisted the ensnare spell
*GrimFeather destroys you utterly for all of your hitpoints, laughing at your feeble attempts to run to the EK zone*

That darn Heart of Fire...

These gobby wizards are driving my crazy! Last night I personally camped the entire barroom area for about 4 hours. During that time, I killed exactly 4 Inferno Gobby Wizards (1 was up when I arrived, the other 3 popped later).

Several lesser wizards died as well. But zero Hearts of Fire dropped.

My question is this: can ANY variety of wizard drop the heart, or JUST the Infernos? There seems to be some conflicting info about this - Fire Gobby Wizards are listed as dropping the heart, but most posts refer only to Inferno Wizards.

As always, any insight is appreciated!

***UPDATE*** - several nights and a few Wizzys later, I just got the heart. It did in fact drop off an Inferno Wizard, in the bar. I'm off to Kithicor, good luck my fellow Rangers...

Apparently only the Inferno Goblin Wizard drops the heart of fire. I think I killed every goblin in Sol A and about 8 inferno wizards before I finally got the heart. I got mine off a wizard that spawns close to the efreeti pit.

I got one off a inferno goblin shaman. I was also told that the inferno goblin wizards drop them so apparantly only the spell casting variety of the inferno goblins drop the heart.

Be aware of other runes you have in inventory. I first turned in the rune from Redwind then immediately turned in the rune from Stormfeather. I got nothing. I lost all the parts. The GM said tough, start over. My petition just got a "better luck next time!" after almost 4 hours of waiting.

That's the nicest response I've seen from GM's for a quest related issue yet. I have tried to get help on several occasions and every time I mention that is quest related the response has been, "Sorry, I cannot help or answer any questions that are quest related." At least they made an attempt to help.

Identify WILL tell you which rune you have. I had looted a couple of these runes and I have a mask that you right click for ID... it told me which part it was(left, right, top, bottom). Hope that helps a little. =)

Hey, look. ALWAYS check to see if it is the one. If there are no casters around and you need identify, then either to staff of the wheel or the nillpuss quest. NPCs destry items once handed to them, and there is no recovering them. The GM couldn't get em back, and he cant very well just give you the items due to your mistake. He was being very polite about it, and you can do is get pissed because of YOUR mistake?
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 11 2001 at 4:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What a butthead you are. Think about this for a sec. The guy hands in all the parts requested. If you went to a store and the guy wanted five ones a five and a ten, but you gave him a 20 first, wouldn't it fix the problem if you gave him the right denominations? This is a BS aspect of the game that is going to kill it eventually. Verant is counting on the attitude of people like you that nitnoidy little stuff like this should be allowed to defeat HOURS of work. That is pure, unadulterated crap.

Let the druid finish the quest. My druid has done all but the boots and leggings for my lvl 3 ranger with almost full ivy etched ). The resulting armor is not no drop so just give the piece to the ranger when done. As for faction, being a druid unless you hunted trees are KOS in your own guild you should be fine considering rangers are just stronger druids with weaker spells)

Heart of Fire MIA... :(
# Jan 17 2001 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
I have camped the Bar room for 2 days now, seen 5 wizzies the first nite, 3 the second nite, still no Heart of Fire. We have been killing everything close to us, especially all infernos, the bartender, the drunkard, and still no luck. Are we going about this right or is there something else we should be doing or another place we should be within Sol A?

I even /OOC'd that I would pay 70PP just for the priviledge of looting the Heart of Fire...

Any info would be appreciated... If possible, please email me at feanorrg@yahoo.com...

I recently killed an inferno wizard up near the captains room who had the heart of fire. It doesnt need to be off a spawn from around the bar. Best bet is to bring in a ranger or druid and have them track one.

Quest Summary
# Oct 28 2000 at 7:46 PM Rating: Decent
I did this quest repeatedly with other rangers in our guild, and it's easy enough to kill GrimFeather with one or more casters in the 40+ range. Just kill every Griffon/-enne/-awn that moves, and eventually GrimFeather will spawn. Be careful, because sometimes he spawns repeatedly! I would NOT try to take on GF without one good caster and 2 or more tanks, as he managed to put a good dent in us. He deals out heavy damage, but can't take it. Oh yeah, and you CAN'T outrun him, even with SoW, so just focus on killing him.

The Heart of Fire can be gotten by joining one of the 30ish-level groups which camp the Bar Room in SolA. This is a fairly productive camp in terms of Experience and Loot, so there's a good chance that it will be camped for reasons other than the Heart. Give a shout, and ask for permission to sit in on the camp, and you may easily get the Heart as it drops off of the inferno wizards which aren't a whole lot tougher than all the other goblins in that part of the zone.

Be SURE to use the STAR rubies, not regular rubies! Both can be bought from various jewelers, including the one in Qeynos (just inside the gate) which many rangers are familiar with. This is a good quest, in my opinion.

You most certainly CAN outrun Grimfeather with SOW. My level 40 pally was in NK with my girlfriend's 20 druid helping her level. She can easily take griffawns at this stage but has not tackled griffenes and certainly not Griffons. Anyway, she just gets tracking and tells me there is something called Grimfeather approaching and its red to her, we should run. Told her to hold on and conned it, dark blue. So I head at him and start laying down an ************ on him old school style. I get to around 50 and I notice I'm taking a lit of damage. Look to my right and there is now a regular Griffon on me as well. I send her a tell to port out and I start running to the guards. He did land two hits on me on the way, but only two. Perhaps he missed many times, but I started running around 50% health and made it to the guards around 46% health and they slew both Grimfeather and the Griffon.
A little thought

Since Spirit of the Cheetah is faster than SoW, (Sow is 25%+1 per lvl and SoC is 75%+1 per lvl) would the SoC outrun the Griffon?

Unfortunatly cheetah doesn't last very long, maybe 15 seconds, and you're back to regular run speed while Grimfeathers gaining on you. Hopefully you're close to the zone ) I also wouldn't count on outrunning him even with it on.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

You can buy star rubies in the jewelry shop in qeynos. The shop is near the gate. They cost 68pp if you have 110 charisma.

Well, how about you go to Kithicor and start asking NPC's in the RANGER camp, and look for the one that responds to questions about IVY ARMOR!!

Or perhaps you are a bit too lazy to go do that?

Ahh, I see. Then you want to talk to a woman there in the building on the left, and say I am interested in sleeves

yeesh some people are so lazy...

Buy one. They are sold at any jewelry merchant who sells metal bars. The price is somewhere between 100 and 120, depending on your faction and charisma (remember to sneak if you have faction lower than indifferent).
