This quest begins with Gandari in Kithicor Forest. She is found in a cabin at 1465, 2415.

You say, 'Hail, Gandari'

Gandari says 'Most call me Gandari the Terse. You here for [ivy armor]?'

You say, 'What ivy armor?'

Gandari says 'I reward brave rangers with ivy etched armor - [helm]s, [tunic]s, [sleeves] and [bracers]. [Interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested in a tunic.'

Gandari says 'I do not haggle; I do not bargain. The skull of Meldrath, the right side of the Rune of Ivy from the thistle brownie and two rubies of fiery red. Bring these to me and you shall earn your reward.'

Bring him 2x "Ruby" + 1x "Skull of Meldrath" (dropped by Meldrath the Malignant in the minotaur caves of Steamfont) + 1x "Rune of Ivy [Right]" (dropped by Thistle Underbrush in Lesser Faydark).

Gandari says 'Wait, _____, are you not forgetting something?'

ok i got a rune of ivy - now after several nights
of hunting - i have forgotten which npc this rune
has come from ... was it the 'fenne or brownie?
is there a way to tell? Yes i killed them both
many times and destroyed the rune if i had it in
my inventory ... anyway how to do tell?

Have someone with the Identify spell cast it on you while you hold the rune in your mouse. It will display in your chat area which rune it is.
skull?
# Aug 15 2000 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
im only a lvl 8 enchanter but twice now I've had high-lvls kill meldrath for me and he hasn't dropped the skull, and it takes a LONG time to find ppl willing to kill this nasty lil *******.
regular rubies

UNSTACKED.
npc's ask for specific items. once saw a shaman try to bargain buy his totemic by handing in a peridot, those look like dufrenite. dumb ***.
rune
# Jul 29 2000 at 5:44 PM Rating: Decent
the rune i used was just a plain ivy rune from that thistle guy
qhich rubies
# Jul 29 2000 at 4:37 PM Rating: Decent

You just wasted 180platinum. :(

I know first hand, you need regular rubies, 150pp EACH kind. Just lost all components and 2 star rubies myself. Text given by npc is too vague. "two rubies of a fiery red" fits both regular rubies and star rubies.

Where does one find the regular rubies?

Try the Kaladim mines or the gem shop in Felwithe. Remember to bring your plat as two will run you about 300pp. And don't think you can just loot them, because I don't know anything that drops them (not at the level you'd want the tunic, at least).
Ivy Quest

I am a level 11 warrior (Dwarf) and have Meldraths Skull, and the Rune of Ivy from the Thistle guy...AND enough to purchase 2 rubies...would i be able to do this quest? or would it just say "I'm erm...Not quite sure what to do with this, but thanks" ...please give me some feed back...

I know that non-Rangers can be GIVEN some of the ivy quests. A Paly friend of mine was given all the quests except for the boots. He never attempted to complete the quests, however, so not sure if this helps or not.
um...
# Jul 17 2000 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
why did you go with 3 necros? thats bad judgement, yea its a lot of dots, if you all only use one line of spells, but you cant stack certin dots with others, so thats just silly, and meldrath isn't THAT hard, me and my 27th druid friend took him out with ease
Meldrath
# Jul 10 2000 at 3:18 AM Rating: Decent
Meldrath is a tough man to slay. Had a party of a 31st Necro, 33 Necro, 29 Necro (LOTS of DOTS :) 25th Paladin, 40th Magician, and myself (27th Ranger) Was a hell of a fight, since kind of swept in there blitz krieg style. Meldrath definitely has some mean spells, and will definitely give your group a run for their money.

"31st Necro, 33 Necro, 29 Necro (LOTS of DOTS :)"

Why? The same DOTs wont stack and some DOTs dont even stack with different DOTs. This leaves you wiht very little choices.
sides
# Jul 05 2000 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
For the tunic all you need is the right side of the rune of ivy, all the others are used for various other parts of ivy armor.
What sides?
# Jul 04 2000 at 1:49 AM Rating: Decent
I got a rune for tracking thistle underbrush for some high level, then someone let me toot a skull from smeldrath, but it says I need all sides of the rune up here in the description, I just got one rune! Isn't that all I need???
RE: What sides?
# Jan 22 2001 at 8:01 PM Rating: Default
you need all sides for all the pieces, but i would suggest just doing one at a time since they arent labeled or anything....
Quest instructions

The description of this does not say who the quest takes place with, so I will tell you that it is Gandari. She is in one of the buildings near the mid-north side of the zone, up with Mornin. Give her all the componets, and you'll get your reward
Ivy Tunic Quest
# Jul 01 2000 at 2:46 PM Rating: Good
Meldrath is a very tough guy to kill. I had a party of high 30's and a druid at lvl 48 help me out on this part of the quest. Even so, we lost a couple party members on this camp, so don't take it lightly. Just a word of caution, if you fight him in the mino caves, he does use fear a lot, so you can get lost if you don't know the layout.
