Quest Solved????

Since Metala is the final mob (found in Plane of Torment) for bard 1.5 epic does that mean they realized she was never in the game until now? Or was this quest not really a quest at all? (I find that hard to believe though) It was likely always broken but at least shes in the game now.

I remember once we had dinner at the lion's Mane and we ordered a burrow pie for desert and she got some whipped cream on her nose ! Oh it was so cute.. Am I boring you or should I tell you where it went wrong? You say, 'Tell me where it went wrong.' Vhalen Nostrolo says 'It was like that for years and then it all just ended. She began to hang around some man called Garuc Anehm. She started attending evening functions. She said it was choir practice for the Temple of Life. Do you want to know what I found out or am I boring you? You say, 'What did you find out?' Vhalen Nostrolo says 'Feeling neglected, I also went to join the choir. To my shock I learned from High Priestess Jahnda that Metala never was in the choir. When I mentioned that fellow Garuc's name she gave me a dirty look and could talk no further. Must be boring you. You don't want to hear the end. You say, 'I want to hear the end.' Vhalen Nostrolo says 'I went home to confront Metala. All I found was an empty house and a note. 'Sorry to leave. Thank you for all you have taught me. My new friends have showed me new paths of pain. My music shall sing for a new generation of bard. Goodbye.' I never saw her again. What ever she has started is twisted and contorted. It is not the music of the soul. She must surely be stopped before it is too late. Please go. I do not feel like talking any further of this. I am not sure where you find Metala, or where this goes, if anywhere (it might just be a statement against Heavy Metal Music by the writer). Garuc Anehm is in the Qeynos Aqueducts, and seemingly is part of another quest. Whether he is involved in this one, or if he's just a cameo of some kind, I don't know.
I may hop on my bard tomorrow and see if I can illusion and/or faction song the Bloodsabers and get some info from him.
No mention of Metala Highflit or any deviance of that name in the bestiary, however I did stumble across an old old post. Circa May 1999, not long after EQ first debuted.
So possibly this is just a dead end to a no-longer-spawning mob. My guess is that he just points bards to the girl who's a corrupt bard, and drops the bard song that used to not be buyable... or something.

Has anybody tried talking to Garuc? He hangs out in the aqueducts a lot. Never see a bard down there though.. maybe if you ask him? Like.. "Where is Metala" "Who is Metala" Maybe he'll tell you.. if you have good enough faction that is.

I got a "nostrolo's tambourine but lack of wanting to do the quest agian makes me wonder what would happen if you gave him his ole tambo back... i mean they do have the same name...

He mentions asking the Temple of Life in Qeynos, and they are offended by the man's name, and won't say more. The Temple of Life's worst enemies are the Bloodsabers, in the sewers of Qeynos. The Bloodsabers are followers of Bertoxxulous, so that would fit in with the "new path of pain".
I'd try asking around there, in the Temple or do some sewer crawling. There fewer wandering guards near the sewer shrine recently (also means the zone was updated so may have been linked with this quest), so it may be safe go have a look around, just don't go through any false walls.

Actually i just read that Metala is found deep in the sea of Freeport and you have to tell her the words of the song then kill a visage of Cazic thule for a sweet mask

Ok ive done that bard hermitt quest in Sk and all it gives you is the song sheet for bards "Hymn of Resturation" if thats how you spell it :)
And you get page 1 from the hermit but page 2 you get by taking The Hermitts flute and giving it to another bard in Nk forgot her name but she is standing next to the druid rings :)
give her the flute and get page 2 turn them both in and get some lvl 1 bard song :(
which doesnt help a 32 monk back :(
and btw hermitt usually camped for the xp i heard

It almost sounds like a possibility of evil-worshiping bards in the future of the game. "My new friends have showed me new paths of pain"... sounds like a worshiper of Cazic, Inorruuk or Bertox. Just an idea.

There are some undead bards or something in Everfrost that drop songs or something, I have never seen them, but they are on the beastiary list on this site...there are 3 of them and they are level 10, but suppposedly they are very easy

return their diary pages to a lady in
the bar and you get book of baking receipes.

After you say it is a sad tune, he mentions working on a new composition. The pages were stolen by some hermit in the karanas and he asks for you to get them back, I dont know where that goes yet.

Actually I think you have to say happy tune. then he says that it needs some work but the hermit stole the sheet music while he was preoccupied. But i also do not know where this leads there is a hermit in sk but he is ussually camped.

I've gotten the music from the hermit. I believe it is called the Winds of Karana, or something like that. Unfortunately, there is more than the one page, since I gave the page to the bard and he said he needed another. No idea where the other page drops though, or what the little quest gives as a reward.

i heard there is a tambourine that you get from him by giving him coins from firiona vie, i have no clue as to which ones cause i came here to find out

The ancient coins have nothing to do with this guy, those coins are part of a quest that starts in the bank in Firiona Vie, and the reward is Nostrolo's Tambourine. Look it up :)
